26841  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 29, 2016, 03:07:55 PM
I offer them on my own, but I have no problem if others adopt the model. My main cost factor is electricity and some other estimates I made to balance out the variance.
Just to be sure: So it's totally okay with you if I create my own "Get a pretty addy"-thread here, and copy your Howto on bitaddress and partial keys? Cheesy
26842  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 29, 2016, 10:40:48 AM
You'd be holding the purse until the work is done, but can't actually move the funds around - and I have the carrot incentive to do the work.
I see possible problems here. Even though no single party can access the payment, what if Timelord2067 disappears* or just doesn't answer? That means Alice has paid and shorena can't access the payment for a refund. So as an escrow, this can only be used for trusted parties, and if all parties involved trust eachother, there is no need for escrow.

*For the sake of argument I've used Timelord2067 as an example, I have no reason to doubt his intentions Smiley
26843  Economy / Economics / Re: Are electric cars bad for the oil industry? on: March 28, 2016, 09:24:37 PM
Yes it is, if all the cars where electric then theres no point to pump and pump oil, cause it will be useless,  and the price oil will become deeper and deeper until it reached 1$
Cars only consume a small part of the oil produced. Think about plastics, aviation and shipping for example. And of course electricity still has to be generated, and oil can be used for that too.

Sorry for the late reply I was away for a while. The amount is about right, thanks. I have not yet gotten a public key though. Not sure if anyone else made the address for you in my absence? If so, let me know who so I can transfer the funds.
I made 1Lingga, and since its your topic, the donation is yours Smiley
26845  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 28, 2016, 11:01:06 AM
a tip ? how much is it ?
That is up to you Smiley

Address found Cheesy It was like one minute, that's 2% chance on my system.
26846  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 28, 2016, 10:21:34 AM
i see on first page that for 6 character it cost around 0.007 - 0.008 ?
Starting with 1L makes it much easier to find. It gives me 22 minutes for 50% chance.

If you post a public key part, I'll make one for you. You can tip shorena a donation Smiley
26847  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 27, 2016, 11:47:10 AM
for example...
You have reinvented escrow, very nice!
One suggestion though: get a shorter prefix, like 1Time. It's 30 times faster to find, you don't want it to take hours if the 15 minutes for 50% turns out to be unlucky.
26848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet with lowest transcation fee on: March 27, 2016, 11:32:17 AM
With Bitcoin Core you can set your own TX fee. Pay whatever you want as fee Cheesy
The wallet is like the messenger, don't blame the messenger for the fee. It's the network that requires the fee, and wallets don't want people complaining transactions take forever, so there is a fee.
I used to do zero-fee transactions from bitcoin-qt, until it got stuck for 2 weeks. Unfortunately miners don't want larger blocks (as it is in their interest to gain higher fees), so we have to compete with eachother by paying them more.
26849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Calling ETH TOP on: March 27, 2016, 11:07:04 AM
I believe it's a bubble too, but there is no upper limit. I'm kinda expecting 37 mbtc was the top already though, the moment the exponential growth stopped, people stopped throwing more money in it.
26850  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] Rollin.io Signature & Avatar Campaign on: March 26, 2016, 11:32:29 PM
@guitarplinker : I'm still a "Full Member" in the spreadsheet, while I've been "Sr." for a while. Can you change this? Thanks!
26851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Bitcoin cons to watch out for... on: March 26, 2016, 11:47:10 AM
People seem to lose common sense when it comes to computers. If someone on the street would tell you to give him $100 and he'll give you $200 tomorrow, of course you don't believe him. Why do people want to believe it so badly when it's online?
26852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people own 21 BTC aproximately? on: March 25, 2016, 11:30:17 PM
Like "normal" money, a very tiny fraction of the population owns the majority. I read an article recently on the MtGox distribution of money: most people had a few mBTC, and a few thousand people own almost everything. That is true in dollars, and it will be true in bitcoins.
I would estimate there are at least 1000 bitcoin-users with less than 21 BTC for every person with more than 21 BTC.

Your Aruba account will be validated upon your first order.

In order to validate your account, you need to provide the following:
- Individual: copy of valid ID card / passport.
- Company: any company registration document.
This is like the opposite of what I would want to share for a VPS. If I use it, it is for privacy.
26854  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: March 23, 2016, 09:28:04 PM
Your best shot is to convert those 100 BTC into ETH...$100-200 per ETH in the next couple of years is not really that far fetched in my opinion...
$0.50 per eth is also not that far fetched in my opinion Wink
Fact is: it's pure speculation. In general it's recommended to diversify, if you put all your eggs in one basket you can also lose everything by 2020.
26855  Economy / Gambling / Re: From faucet to something? on: March 23, 2016, 09:25:32 PM
It can happen, and I have seen it happen. I remember a user starting at 500 sat faucet, and going up to 200 mBTC before he busted. He wagered several Bitcoin in that session.
It is possible, just not so likely. If we ignore the house edge, chance of doubling is equal to chance of losing all.So on average, if you start with 500 sat faucet 200 times, you can get 1 mbtc once.
26856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: March 23, 2016, 11:59:42 AM
How do i select the GPU Huh?
You can try asking here: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22], I've had great help there to get it working.
It doesn't ask me to choose a device, I have just one option I guess, so I can't tell you how to select it.
26857  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Primedice.com] Bingo Competition! - Win up to 4 BTC Each - Positive EV Gambling on: March 22, 2016, 09:40:24 PM
Thanks PD and ndnhc for the bonus and Bingo Smiley
26858  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Primedice.com] Bingo Competition! - Win up to 4 BTC Each - Positive EV Gambling on: March 22, 2016, 01:02:30 PM
Fixed it. Grin

Total is around 7.29BTC.
If the people in the spreadsheet got paid already I think I was forgotten... If you're still working on it I'm just too impatient Wink
26859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin survive world war III? on: March 21, 2016, 11:02:05 PM
If internet is unreliable, 6 confirmations is no longer enough. If you (or your continent) gets disconnected from the main miners in China, you'll be running on a smaller side chain that gets replaced once you reconnect.
Bitcoin will survive. It's just as unreliable as your internet will be.
26860  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: March 21, 2016, 09:10:20 AM
I'm just wondering if it's because I have a text file with a few (!) wallet to search for that the expected time taken between percentages vary after 50%, 75% etc?
No, I search 25000 keywords, the percentage is just based on the total chance.
I found a 6 character address yesterday in about half a second. I tried again, and it showed 20 minutes for 50% chance. It's just a matter of being lucky to have the right string in the random addresses quickly.
