A thought occurred that Elon's tweets are like another stimmy, especially for dog-e owners.
Check their reddit -it's hilarious.
I think that he likes to stir trouble, but somehow wins in the end.
EDIT: tweets about some 1999 song, a stock with the same name apparently pops as a result (as per news article).
2702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 04, 2021, 04:04:35 PM

what do you think about that guys ?

'things' are never the same as the last time....so, an unlikely scenario.
Someone could have drawn the same 'scheme' during 2017 (see March-April 2017, for example), pointing back at 2013...and they did.
The resulting structure/chart trajectory was very different.
2703  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 04, 2021, 03:49:14 PM
I know exactly what happened as that shit happens to me often. His tweet about Bitcoin had repercussions. Real life ones that would impact his business and the ability to move forward on his projects. They pretty much told him to shut up about Gamestonk and Bitcoin or else.

This lead to him posting that he will be off of twitter for a while.

Then he was like...fuck it...I'll just post some shit about Doge to show people that I'm not seriously endorsing anything, that he's just having fun on twitter.

He is now openly fucking with those that threatened him.

....

Musk is just lashing out.

I get what you are saying, as I had the same thoughts.

But what kind of fucked up world do we live in, where the Michael Saylors and the Winklevosses of the world can sing the praises of Bitcoin all day every day, but the Elon Musks of the world are threatened and told to shut up about it? That distracting the world with shitcoin and meme stonk talk is ok'ed and encouraged?

Meanwhile billionaires are secretly taking large positions in Bitcoin, large hedge funds are secretly doing the same, banks and payment processors are looking to become future custodians of Bitcoin, all the while the media is telling Average Joe that Bitcoin is a scam, a bubble, to stay away, etc. ??

This shit is fucking unbelievable. It's no wonder why Average Joe is poor (and staying poor).

'cause there is not enough bitcoin for everyone, in their eyes, obviously.
Doge is people's money-certainly it is said in jest.
That said, investment 'people' do not picture bitcoin as a transactional currency, just a SOV right now.
S-coin #1 is also unusable for anything else, but larger scale speculation, with the cost of contract tx being about $20-40 and a regular send being $5-6.
So, can doge, being a cheap meme, be prompt up to be tx layer? The money for 'people'?
I say NO with 99% probability, but then, what IS or rather what would be, eventually?
2704  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 04, 2021, 03:27:32 PM
Elon playing with the Doge boys again, must be interesting making a tweet and having such an impact on the market like that. I noticed he's removed his #bitcoin title too

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1357241340313141249

Doge, really? Proof that even forward thinking billionaires can be woefully ignorant.

As long as he keeps treating Bitcoin (as well as crypto in general) as a joke and not taking it seriously, he can rightly fk off.

That guy is a clown.

he's just having fun. isn't it entertaining to see the market blow up after he posted not an endorsement, but a meme, and it was not the first time doge appeared in his tweets...

I don't really care if he is "having fun".

The time for Bitcoin to be taking seriously in the public eye is now. It is a serious, sound financial asset.

If he was a responsible person, he'd be telling his followers that DOGE is a complete shitcoin and nothing more, and that they should stay far away from it.

Instead, he's doing the opposite. And some people will be taking him very seriously.

This is why the public continues to remain uneducated and ignorant about Bitcoin, because (along with all crypto) it is treated like a meme and a scam, even by highly visible people.

Musk is just lashing out.

yes, he is.

70 percent of Americans have less than $1,000 stashed away, according to GOBankingRates' 2019 savings survey. The poll, released December 16, revealed 45 percent have nothing saved.

This is actually shocking... I'm not sure if BTC can help them at this point...  Angry

maybe because some of them have it all in bitcoin-one can dream, right?

i give 10 merits if one can name me a working blockchain product.

Filecoin.

@OP-Define 'working' first.
A blockchain could be working with not many customers.
Having customers is maybe more important than anything else.
The original question has a wholly dismissive attitude anyway.
You simply want to hear 'none', which is not exactly the case.

There are companies that observe social activity as it relates to investment.
Here are some of their conclusions (nothing that we did not discuss before, really):

Yes, astounding and not good for the faith in the stock market mechanics  Roll Eyes
It's a rickety system at best and a fraudulous scheme at worst.

Now, that they took the "play" money back from the kids, the anger and frustration with the stock market will go up even more among the youngsters who had but a couple days of a fleeting success.

Those considering that gemini 'earn' thingie better read this:

https://www.gemini.com/legal/gemini-earn-program-terms-and-authorization-agreement#section-5-making-loans-to-borrowers

Basically, Gemini is just facilitating your lending. They have no or almost no 'skin' in the game and if the Joe-shmoe (called Genesis or whatever, apparently) ever defaults, say bye-bye to your bitcoin.
For that non-involvement they are being compensated quite nicely:

https://www.gemini.com/fees/gemini-earn-fees#section-fee-schedule

Not that comp is relevant here, but they, gemini, are taking 4.74% themselves, leaving 2.74% to you.
btc is slightly fairer with 3.05 to 1.08 split

What a nice deal overall....not.
We need to earn on DEXes-that's the real way forward.

I get a strange feeling that some folks here, who are already (or will be shortly) rich off-of bitcoin, are engaging in self-defeating trades in all that ws or s-coin crap (be it GME, amc, silver, doggie, whatever). Why?

Because you have a bit of extra money?
In jest?
To show 'tha man'?
Decrease your profit % so you can engage in conversations with those who made "just" 30% last year?

What is the most popular vibe?

What I don't really get is how RH has been able to get an additional $3BILLION as if it were peanuts. More so assuming they probably lost many of their user base... or maybe not, people is stupid. Oh wait, that also answer my first question I guess.

'cause 'they' keep doubling down.

hey, what is 'fyre money'-is this re FIRE?
if yes, check out the fire boards on reddit, especially r/fatfire (there is also r/finalcialindependence, r/leanfire and r/obesefire).
the level of opulence and a sense of "it will always be as good as it is right now" is something to observe.

It starting to look a bit similar to mid-2019.

I am a bit concerned that the same hedge funds would have to sell "our stuff" to make the ends meet, at least at first.
Later on, markets would flood into bitcoin because it is a free market, at least mostly free.

2715  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2021, 07:43:57 PM
A thought occured-WSB is becoming a decentralized or rather hive-mind hedge fund with at least $50 bil in capital (10mil members, 8 subcribers and at least a quarter of that -lurkers) soon to be $65-70bil once the "members" get a new stimmy. It is unclear where that hive-mind would turn it attention to.

Re trying to get attention off of GME-maybe, but afaik, it ain't working (so far).
honestly, longing from here into GME does not make sense, that ship has sailed, unless super-covering occurs. Maybe 30% chance.

Other venues seem to be more amenable to money-making.
Again, i don't see any short term benefit in all of this to bitcoin. Later on-maybe when frustrated masses fall in.

EDIT:

It has to rise 25% before any profit.

Profit ? Who is talking about profit ?

I'm not.

RobinHood allows you to buy btc (and other cryptocurrencies), but you can't move it out. This could cause legitimate worries about all btc on RH being just paper IOUs.

So a number of btc newbies have some (paper?) btc on RH, and now they want to get it out of a likely sinking boat. The only option they have is sell now (taxable event, ouch!), get the money out (RH does allow you withdraw $$, duh!), keep aside the taxman's share (ouch again), send the money to some "normal" exchange, get less btc than you used to have (boo-ho!), transfer that to a wallet you control (your own keys: it's finally been turned into your bitcoin, win!).

I've got two questions - food for thought.

1) How many newbies are going to jump through the multiple hoops?

2) What if many actually do? There are likely consequences for RobinHood: assuming they never actually bought the backing crypto, they'd be under by a lot. Just think of the doge bull. I could care less about them, though. What happens to the price when a shitload of redditors sell at the same time?

TL;DR RH is really throwing shit at anyone trying to go against the system - either people who try to punish asshole over-100%-shorting hedge funds, or people who buy btc (or doge in recent days, well you know, newbies!). I wish RobinHood went out of business. Which isn't totally unlikely as a result of the latest shenanigans.

Are you sure about that? Wouldn't swapping paper BTC for real BTC fall under a wash rule for 'murikans?
Quote
The rule defines a wash sale as one that occurs when an individual sells or trades a security at a loss and, within 30 days before or after this sale, buys a "substantially identical" stock or security, or acquires a contract or option to do so.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/w/washsalerule.asp

there is no wash sale (theoretically) in bitcoin since it is not a stock or security. In fact, it looked like IRS allowed for LIFO, FIFO and specific batches for base price determination, imho.

I don't want to sound like a huge faggot or anything, but got bored and decided to buy 100oz or so of physical silver off <internet.site>

Let's get back to crashing the economy. I'm trying to do my small part.
Buying some junk silver will not crash any economy.
Depending on location but Silver is one if the biggest money trap there is. It has to rise 25% before any profit.
Gold in most places does not have the tax burden to deal with but still happily sold last piece last year.
Commodities is so last century, even toiled paper is abetter investment because its needed, no-one needs a silver spoon.

Silver does seem like a silly target to crash the economy plus the drama of Gamestop isn't over yet. If people lose focus too early, the sqeeeeeze might not take place. One target at a time. It will take every penny to make it happen.

somebody described it as a "rage against the machine". How likely is that it would be concentrated on one stock?
That said, are we the establishment now? I doubt it, but as of right now s-coins like zerp and doggie are in the lead (for today only).
Are things about to get wild with Ag? Sorry, I am not going to lug some bricks.

that buying is not very easy to do...premiums spiked and some sites are in maintenance mode.

hey, it could stay retarded longer than someone can stay solvent.
we already know that.

RH has to be made bankrupt, though...if I can dream...
Not before sonnie withdraws his few hundred bucks out of there, though.
He already asked me about the doggie-coin, lol.
You can't teach your progeny or at least I can't-they have to make their own mistakes.
