All bitcoins that are not moved for a certain period of time (20, 50, or 100 years) should be presumed lost and then recycled through the usual mining process. I'm not sure if that can be achieved through a soft fork.

I had one account I forgot about forfeited like that, not that I cared much, it had some very small amounts there, but this is the rule they use. |

if you think that going from 65 to 650 is the same as going from 65000 to 650000, I beg to differ.
It ain't..that is NOT to say that it cannot, it's just a completely different story.
At 650k, bitcoin is (will be) geopolitical.
Right now, it still looks like a very large cap stock (in size).
At 13.65 trillions (eq to 650K price), it would be large countries "playground".

... I tend to think of it as the calm before the storm of the manic mark-up phase, you see it in other commodity markets also, grains, softs especially and local weekly cattle auction rings all share the same characteristics, also great studies in human psychology of markets
... basically the market is running out of sellers at these prices as the sellers now are expecting/demanding higher prices for their goods .... the buyers are there at the ring with cash in their pockets waiting for cheapest prices but they can see pretty much how many cows are left in the pens, the grass is going crazy in the paddocks back home but the sellers are in solidarity sitting on their hands saying NUP .... there's a quiet, tension in the atmospehere as the Mexican standoff goes through it's dance
... then the first buyer loses his nerve and puts in a big bid well above market, bang, that is the starting gun for the mark-up phase
... all the bids start coming in higher and higher but only a few get filled, fomo kicks, still no volume, the sellers are going to wait for the new price level to establish when it's in new territory
The 64k question (lol look what I did there?) is how far will the fomo send it? There are two things that are "different this time". 1. I think there will be more fomo than we have ever seen by a LOT. 2. The distance between 65 and 650 is quite different, and yet exactly the same as between 65,000 and 650,000. That's where the really chewy part comes in I think... I have no idea. I know what you mean....but the DISTANCE is typically not being measured in % (as your example illustrates). The numerical distance between 650000 and 65000 (be it miles or mm) is 585000 "units", while the distance between 650 and 65 is 585 units. Naturally, 585000 is exactly 100 times bigger "distance". With 585 miles driven you won't even cross the TX border going north from here, but with "driving" 585000 miles you would circumnavigate the globe more than twenty times. I know that i sound boring and I get the gist of your idea, but i just can't agree that these two series of numbers are even remotely similar, sorry. |

It is not retail. The retail markets are nothing more than an unreliable oracle so far. And the majority of acquisition is happening in dark pools. If retail DOES start to buy this cycle they are going to soak up the available float so fast it will make peoples eyeballs pop out. Watch. (If it does not happen this time, which is hard to even accept as possible without some giant global macro black swan... it WILL happen in the next cycle.) Nice...just one note...retail is NEVER going to buy a 65.5 64K asset. Not in the cards. They will buy ETF at a fraction of the price, though, or things like GBTC at 50 or even 150 when it gets there. |

I’d settle for $105,000 right now, if you offered it me. haha... However, as I mentioned before, I predict a lot of a stress on WO if/when bitcoin goes to 84k first, but then dips back to 64-65k. The psych wounds from 2017 (not selling in time and missing a dip buying opp) are still there. My method of coping is in not currently having any btc on the exchange (to sell). |

well, it's a "bit" optimistic, but i like it. That said, what would be a % of WO that would think that 84K wave 2 "top" is IT and would start selling as it would go down a bit down to re-test 65K? Nerves would be fried remembering 2017, right? I cannot recognize people who are also grimacing, smiling and have 'weird' hair...for shits. I think the test is purposefully designed to say..SEE, you cannot make a distinction.
That said, when I worked with "typical" Chinese and Japanese guys, it was very EASY to distinguish mandarin speaking Chinese from Japanese (not sure about Koreans), no doubt...the 'accent" is different as well.

If someone accumulated a wad of fiat cash, their 'f-k you status' might not last long, me thinks.
If most or significant % of your f-y funds are in bitcoin, then you would have a better chance, but reasonable people might disagree on these points.
I am relying on my significant other for spending of the already available cash (mostly in the form of the money flow) as I can't do any significant non-house related projects before I decide to stop working.
One idea would be to significantly increase my mining outlays upon retirement, but i would need to find or finance cheaper power first.
For some reason solar setups are still very expensive in price by kwh at residences around here.
Both NE (New Hampshire, maybe) and Pacific NW (Wash state) look attractive post retirement as far as mining is concerned.

Wrong way to think about it. The goal is not to have a USD bank account that you drain and reaches 0 when you die. The goal is to have enough assets to generate sufficient yearly income indefinitely. That is independent of age. It depends if you are talking about true income or income generated by withdrawals.
