2701  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 25, 2013, 06:15:50 AM

Well I do commend you for killing the 100+ orders, but is it really fair to let some people order 4-10 units while others don't even have a chance because the payment site went belly up?  It is your company and your decision, my opinion is a lottery system or even just limiting orders to 2 per address/person would have been more fair.

People who deserve respect...well some people behave on this site differently from their outside lives - yes you can see their greed in their emails to you.

I did not mean any disrespect about the heritage.  What I am saying is sometimes people don't understand the way people word things because sayings are different in different parts of the world.  My parents speech is often viewed as blunt or harsh, but guess that's the way we Chinese are lol.

To shred some light, you can ask libertybuck, that was a group order, we didn't in fact allow people to order a lot of units per person. and as for payment site bellying up, that was totally our fault.

OK, thank you for that explanation.  I just felt jilted as I had tried ordering in Batch 1, 2.1 and 2.2 and couldn't get an order.  Well I did get an order in 2.2 but it shows as canceled - for some reason Walletbit closed out the order with over 9 min left at checkout.  I opened a ticket and never got an answer Sad
2702  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 25, 2013, 06:01:10 AM

Let me give you case in point - Libertybuck (in China) with 18 Avalon units would be minimally 1.2 TH/s.  Allowing one person to order than many units while other could not get even one order in seems like they didn't really follow through on what they were preaching.

They should be commended for their hard work as opposed to the comedy/tragedy act that is BFL, but their Oligarchy (Bitsyncom demanding respect from his customers) needs some retooling.  And no it's not a cultural thing I'm misreading since my parents are from mainland also.

LOL, I've rejected multitude of 100+ orders and even an offer to buy out the whole 300 unit lot, if we want to min-max I wouldn't even reply to you.

out of the numerous email I get a day, about 30% is people asking how can I pay me $$$$ to get faster shipment, talk about respect.

I'll respect people who deserves it.

Also, what does your parents have to do with anything. Some people in china got their units earlier due to Chinese New Year, or are you too detached from China growing up outside and all, considering you didn't say you were also from mainland that you don't actually understand CNY's impact on business?

LOL

2710  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL news? on: March 23, 2013, 05:34:05 AM
We should thank BFL for showing us all how NOT to make an ASIC bitcoin miner.

LOL....lesson learned for you suckers who put up money 9 months ago for vaporware? Also lesson learned for potential ASIC vendors?

I sure hope so. Grin

As an Avalon Batch 1 and Batch 2 purchaser, I thank BFL for not sending network difficulty through the roof, which means more sweet mining for me.

As a prospective Avalon Batch 3 purchaser, I'm disappointed that BFL is not there with a product to compete with their high price point.

As a Bitcoiner, the reality of just one ASIC vendor left standing and holding a monopoly on the market worries me.

As a BFL 1st day (6/23) purchaser I'm wondering where my 416 BTC went for the last 9 months (in 2 hours it will have been 9 months  Shocked Huh Cry)

As a GPU Farm owner I wish I had my ASICs here to compete with Avalon's/ASICMiners entry so I could put away these heatmonsters as summer approaches in SoCal

As a concept BFL's idea of a small quiet box hashing 60GHs on 60W is a nice idea.  Guess the unicorn blood is really hard to work.

As a bitcoiner who repeatedly tried to buy into Batch 1, Batch 2.1 & 2.2, I must say I'm upset Avalon let some people order 10 units while others who tried (I have an Avalon order number but it was canceled - and not by me) at all times of the day couldn't procure one.  It turned into a Black Friday latency test akin to an Amazon Lightning Deal  Roll Eyes

That being said, I'll keep my BFL first day order.  I will be dumping my 30K minirig, but even worse if I don't see anything in the beginning of next week I'll be telling my friends to cancel their orders (pretty sure the combined amount is over $200k since physicians like weird investments like this).  I'll try to grab an Avalon Batch 3 order (just 1) and then watch whether BFL can "put out".

Either way the whole ASIC thing has been a massive letdown for me.  Especially with absolute detest for customer service and courteous responses to the most basic of inquiries. Add to that the trolling between the Avalon and BFL fanboys and sometimes I just want to shut off CGMiner and play Borderlands 2.... my God what have you fools done!
2711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2x 7950s dropping to 64% load every few seconds on: March 22, 2013, 12:16:40 AM
Temps probably aren't the problem then.

Rosewill as a general rule makes crappy PSUs, but their Capstone series are pretty nice.  Does the PSU put out at least 60Amps on the 12V lines?

I'm not well versed on power since I'm not an engineer, but if you launch GPU-Z and look at the sensors you can see what the 12v drops down to while both are mining.  It could be the PSU is bad.
2712  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What will happens when BFL will fail to deliver during the next 50 days? on: March 21, 2013, 12:19:06 PM
What BFl finish since June ?

Protoyp -- No
Website -- No
Cases with Fans -- Oh Sure Yes
Boards with Chips -- Yes Without any function

What they did since June / october ?

Good question.

One might think they could have setup at least their infrastructure in the last couple months.

But their order tracking system is also fucked up still has room for improvement Wink

I just visualize the face of someone that has ordered a Mini Rig, opens the box - and there's a Jalapeno.

Awww, Frizzy is starting to crack.  Shocked

That whole BFL hate thing was just a facade.  You're secretly in love with Inaba aren't you!
2713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch 3 - Will You Order? on: March 21, 2013, 12:16:27 PM
if noone buy, price will dropdown

Not going to happen
2714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The latest Avalon announcement in China(Translated). Batch #3, price and more. on: March 21, 2013, 12:15:14 PM
very simple answer
nobody buy and they will drop price
if you can afford to lose ~$6000 then it is oki to take a risk, else it is not recommended

There's no need for the price to drop.  The unit can make 88BTC, the question is when and how long.  If Avalon has to ship a unit to another country and the unit is not mining for 2 weeks that is lost BTC (unrealized).

They could just make them and have them mining on site until somebody is willing to spend the 88BTC.  On their end it probably doesn't cost more than 10 BTC to build a unit, so they could just build up a farm and eventually sell to a company with a model like ASICMiner.  Or sooner or later somebody will say "the hell with my my 200GPU farm, I just want 1 little box".

I have no doubt the units will sell out quickly even at 88BTC (God knows I tried for every batch before).  Greed is a very powerful motivating factor and sometimes people just can't think straight.

If ASICMiner is able to put out 100TH by the time Batch #3 is out and BTC price stays at $65 or higher then you can be sure difficulty will be high enough to put ROI into a questionable zone.  Batch 1 and 2 were no-brainers for ROI, just a matter of trust as NG said.

When ROI exceeds a period of 6 months, you have to worry about other forces like changes to Bitcoin protocol and the longevity of your unit.  Pretty much all Batch 1 users will have their units paid off in a couple weeks.  Batch 2 might take a month to 2 (in BTC, not $).  Batch 3 ASICMiner and BFL are the big IFs.

$6500 would buy 100 BTC now which might be $100 in 3 months. That $10K could be used for setting up a BTC business that may make more $ than any miner ever could...
2717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 2x 7950s dropping to 64% load every few seconds on: March 21, 2013, 09:36:07 AM
Two common causes that I have seen:
1) Thermal throttling.  Are the cards getting too hot?  If they're above 85C they might be throttling. When one of my 6870s went bad it did the same thing - throttled back at 106C lol
2) Something running amuck in the back of Windows (like some other program tying up resources too much).  If it's a linux rig I have no idea.  Best solution for windows is just do a clean install, not worth wasting time trying to diagnose the cause.
