I don't know what issues there are with BTC. It syncs fine on my end. But I am also using Electrum when sending bitcoin, so I wouldn't know what's going on with LL on that front.

About ten days ago, I went to check if there might be a new firmware or an update for coin apps, and I noticed that the synchronization was taking an unusually long time, although it did not affect the coin apps updates that I made without problems. A couple of days ago I checked again and the synchronization went through in less than 15 seconds, but I think that these are common problems that have existed since LL existed.
2702  Economy / Economics / Re: Keanu Reeves says Principle behind Cryptocurrency is Amazing on: February 19, 2023, 11:27:48 AM
With FTX the issue was celebrities were being paid quite a bit of money to promote the concept of cryptocurrency/centralized exchanges without having any idea how they operate. They were just happily collecting a check. There isn't anything wrong with sponsorship deals, but perhaps they can be used to mislead the reputability of companies and celebrities owe it to people to exercise caution.

Of course, everyone should (if they care about their reputation) investigate what they are promoting, regardless of how much money someone has offered them for the job. Some people obviously never have enough money and will do anything to earn it even more, and while I was thinking about which other celebrities have participated in the promotion of things related to cryptocurrencies, I also remembered Matt Damon who appeared in a commercial for a CEX approximately 2 years ago. I didn't know the whole thing turned into a fiasco and CEX ended up deleting the ad, but critics say the message it was sending was just wrong.

Here's a good recap that includes the controversial video for those who want to watch it.

I don't see any issue with what Keanu Reeves is saying. He's not supporting a specific project, merely talking about the philosophy of crypto.

The article claims that he participated in his partner's project, that is, that he helped start it - but that is his personal matter and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
2703  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin be trusted? on: February 18, 2023, 04:19:48 PM
Bitcoin have suffered 2 huge crashes at 2018 and 2021, it's really wrong if you're saying Bitcoin will never crash, I believe we will suffer another crash in the future.

It was much more than just two crashes if we take into account the total time that Bitcoin has existed, although most people were not really interested in what happened 10 years ago. As for trust, it cannot be bought, hired or found in the middle of the street, it must be earned. Some will say that Bitcoin still hasn't earned that trust, and I wouldn't dispute their opinion because it's a personal matter for each individual.

Bitcoin will certainly experience many more bad moments than the next crash, but this is not something that is specific only to Bitcoin - those who trade stocks know that this market can easily lose hundreds of billions of dollars in one day, and yet people still trade stocks.

I would conclude that trust in Bitcoin is much more than its price, no matter how strange it may sound to some.
2704  Other / Meta / Re: Ranking up in Btalk - How does it work? on: February 18, 2023, 03:38:07 PM
Hey I’m just asking some simple questions here, is that okay? You may want to refer to my prior comment for more clarity. Thanks.

Given that you got an answer to your question and that any further discussion is redundant, maybe it would be wise to lock the thread? It is usually something that is logical to do in such cases, but unfortunately it is rare to see that possibility being used. Just don't tell me you didn't know that option existed...
2705  Economy / Economics / Re: Keanu Reeves says Principle behind Cryptocurrency is Amazing on: February 18, 2023, 03:24:07 PM
On a scale of 1 to 10. How intelligent could Keanu Reeves commentary on cryptocurrencies be rated? How would Keanu's intelligence level compare to commentary other celebrities and financial figures have made on bitcoin and crypto over the years?

I have a vague memory when it comes to celebrities and their opinions on cryptocurrencies, but it seems to me that most of them are not very expert when it comes to this topic. I know that some have been mentioned in relation to FTX, as well as that some have invested in various crypto projects, but this is not enough to give ratings and assess the intelligence of the actor in question. It is interesting that Bitcoin was not mentioned (at least as far as the quoted text is concerned), which perhaps best says that everyone wants something new with potential big profits.

Is there hope for celebrities to someday become competent and knowledgeable about things like NFTs, crypto and metaverse on a broad scale? Celebrities tend to be a little isolated from technical details. Is there hope for this type of enthusiasm resulting in a positive experience with the technology?

Being successful in acting does not mean that you have to be above average intelligent or have a university degree, you just have to be good at what you do and you will have a lot of money. Celebrities have their place in the scheme of things, and I don't see why they should become experts in technical matters - because people who have money also have personal financial advisors who deal with technical matters.

Believe me, spending 500EUR banknotes is the smallest issue you're going to face. There are so many ways to exchange it to smaller banknotes including deposit ATMs, bank branches etc.

Impossible. Euro is legal tender in the EU. The only reason they can refuse is because they have no smaller bills handy or some other technical reason. Otherwise, they're breaking the law and you can report them.

Legal tender aside, but each member of the EU has its own rules, so in some places you will even see a sign that clearly shows that you cannot pay with a 500 EUR bill. Today I read an article on a local portal about how a man filled fuel worth 50 EU and tried to pay with a 500 EUR bill, and not only that they did not accept that banknote, but he also experienced considerable inconvenience from the staff - some say that bill is called "Bin Laden" because of the assumption that it facilitated the financing of terrorism and money laundering.

Of course, after the banknote stopped being printed in 2016, it was not established that the financing of terrorism and money laundering had anything to do with banknotes of that value.

**To avoid problems I have already ordered a new ledger which will be delivered to me on Tuesday, and having the recovery phrase I feel calm, also because the addresses with the coins show no movements.

You should have contacted Ledger support, and if the device is still under warranty, they would probably send you a new one even without sending them the old one - we had several examples even on the forum where devices were replaced even if they were not under warranty.

I've had that model for several years and I don't have any problems, although there is obviously a difference in the quality of production a few years ago and 1-2 years ago.

You can see an example of his work in some parts of the forum - he is not an expert, but an ordinary spammer who shills links in all possible ways. In addition, check his trust before anyone thinks of entering into a deal with him.

2709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi every created some sort of back door to alter BTC? on: February 18, 2023, 11:50:31 AM
It seems that some people think that Satoshi is such a genius that he might have managed to hide a backdoor in a project that is of course open source and has been public since 2009 and no one has managed to notice it until now Roll Eyes

OP, do you have fears that one day Satoshi will appear, dump his 1 million BTC and ride off into the sunset with a few hundred billion $ or maybe even a trillion?
2710  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 18, 2023, 11:38:41 AM
There is nothing fantastic about this idea. In Norway, for example, now 4 out of 5 cars sold are electric cars. And from 2025 they plan to completely stop selling private cars with internal combustion engines.
~snip~

Countries like Norway or Sweden are exceptions if we consider other parts of Europe, because they have long since overcome some basic obstacles and due to their natural resources and high standard of living, they can afford to reach some goals much earlier than everyone else. Some data say that in Denmark even 70% of people use bicycles or public transport, and they are not even interested in the state's generous incentives when it comes to buying electric vehicles.

Another important point that we may not have mentioned is that the ban on production vehicles with internal combustion does not mean that everyone will suddenly switch to electric vehicles or some other alternative - all those who own old vehicles should continue to use them as long as they want to - or until the government decided to close all gas stations.
2711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Withdrawing Bitcoin off the radar on: February 17, 2023, 04:31:25 PM
The distribution of €500 has stopped, but even if it hadn't, spending such a large amount is almost impossible.

Tell me about it, because I have a problem even if I try to pay with a EUR 100 bill, given that we have just entered the Eurozone and our ATMs only pay out denominations of EUR 5, 10 and 20, and the national currency was even 7.5 times weaker than euros. I doubt that I will ever see a 500 EUR bill.

Bringing a ton of cash through the airport is impossible without going through customs declaration; that's why GazetaBitcoin mentioned splitting the money into a few trips. On the other hand, having a decent amount of undeclared cash doesn't help at all, because you can't actually use them for large cash purchases.

This should not be a problem if you are traveling within the Schengen Area, although I cannot say whether the procedure at airports is the same as at road border crossings where the border does not actually exist. Romania and Bulgaria are not part of that zone, and that's why things get complicated there, but if you choose another country, then theoretically you can cross the border without expecting any control.

Of course, all this is assuming that you don't act too nervous and suspicious at the airport, because such people attract attention.
2712  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: February 17, 2023, 03:43:49 PM
I think it's just someone's dream, especially those who all the time push some green agendas when it comes to the EU, and then suddenly open thermal power plants using coal, heating oil and similar pollutants because "green" has become unsustainable at this moment. Perhaps some countries will succeed in achieving this goal, but these will still be exceptions in a world where oil will continue to rule much longer than 2035.

I also think that the big oil producers will not just accept that their black gold becomes less valuable with the potential to become completely worthless in the future. In addition, the production of electric cars is quite expensive, and for those who do not know, the basic model of our great hero Mr. Mars costs (at least in my country) over 50 000 EUR (at least it was like that a few months ago). If you're wondering why it costs so much, it's probably because the owner has to pay all those poor people who work all day in the cobalt mines for $2 a day.
2713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be calm and let things flow. on: February 17, 2023, 02:57:56 PM
No one should even need to take posting this seriously. All you need to do is to not spam, not plagiarize, and don't post useless stuff. That's pretty much it. For some reason people here tend to talk about Bitcointalk as some ultra-complicated thing that you need to study.

For some, the forum is much more than a "forum", and then we shouldn't be surprised that they have a slightly different way of thinking. Maybe it's just a matter of wanting to advance in the ranks, which have now become more difficult to reach than before, although I don't understand if the OP is talking about his personal success that he achieved with the help of this forum.

Philosophical post. But the problem is that your efforts will not be taken into account by those who are in a hurry. Someone who comes here to learn about bitcoin will rarely spam; they don't care about merit. But when you see that a person, day after day, creates a bunch of unnecessary topics and leads manuals, being an amateur and not caring at all about the answers in his open topic, this suggests that he will soon leave the forum. Since such people always make a bunch of mistakes.
~snip~

Few follow the line of greater resistance, and most go towards bounty campaigns or think that by plagiarizing/paraphrasing they will succeed in deceiving someone that they are something they are not. To some extent, I can understand that some members, even though they are beginners themselves, want to help others, although sometimes they exaggerate in this - or what is even worse, they give not only wrong but also very risky advice.

Of course, the golden rule is that you should not believe in anything blindly, but that you should look at most things critically - because even if five people claim that something is true, who is to say that a sixth person will not appear and prove that they are wrong?
2714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin DCA - always same amount or do you change depending on price? on: February 17, 2023, 11:41:03 AM
I don't usually do this due to the risk of the price not going back down again but may do when we next pump as it has now gone back down to $23600.
Hopefully we fall back below $23000 again which is when I will next buy some more.

There is always a risk, especially if you want to make a profit in the short term, or in the specific case to increase the number of your coins by selling at a higher price and then waiting for a dip to buy them back. That is why the DCA method is much safer and makes sense in the long term regardless of the fact that your average price will become higher over time.

However, every strategy can be adapted and you have not committed to anyone that you will use it in a certain period. In any case, it seems that you are going in the right direction, and the only question is how quickly the amount of your BTC will increase.
2715  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen if the price of Bitcoin drops at all? on: February 16, 2023, 05:34:45 PM
Though I haven't invested a reasonable sum in Bitcoin, I've at some point after watching how the market and price of Bitcoin fell from over $69k to less than $14k...

Where did you see/hear that the price of BTC drop below $14k after the last ATH? Actually the lowest price was around $15xxx, although I've already forgotten the exact number.

1. Will Bitcoin ever fall to zero someday?

If everyone who bought it and those who intended to buy it thought it was worth 0, then it would be worth exactly that much, i.e. it would be worth nothing. However, the chance of this happening is very small, regardless of how many times someone writes that Bitcoin is dead, or that its real value is equal to zero.

2. What happens if it ever falls to zero?

Then all BTC that exist will become worthless, no one will trade with them anymore and no one will accept them as a means of payment.

3. Will Bitcoin go back to previous levels?

You didn't specify which levels you mean, the lowest or the highest? As for the previous ATH of $69k, I think it is certainly achievable and most have no doubts that we will see that price again - and as for the lowest price of $15k+, that is something we can return to if the market is shaken by some extremely bad news.
2716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin DCA - always same amount or do you change depending on price? on: February 16, 2023, 05:01:40 PM
I currently have 0.08 BTC at an average price of $19000 and just wondering what everyone does when we have pumps like we are currently seeing.
---
I usually DCA weekly but thinking I may miss this week and buy more once we have another pullback.

If you are already convinced that the price will be $23k or lower again, why don't you sell your 0.08 BTC at a price that is currently around $25k and then buy at a lower price? To be clear, this is no financial advice, but DCA doesn't make much sense if you calculate the way you do it.

What if the price goes towards $30k and stays there for the next few months, and then rises again? Your average price simply has to increase because the price of BTC is increasing, or rather it is recovering to the levels where it was before it was affected by various scammers who shook the entire crypto market with their actions.
2717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Awareness needed, 100$ or Bitcoin??? on: February 16, 2023, 04:45:00 PM
Came across this video in which a person questions whether they prefer to take 100$ or Bitcoin. The kids never took time, all of the sudden chosen 100$. I'm not specific about the location this had taken place, but it looks like they're are Western people.

The video was most likely recorded somewhere in the US, the girls have an American accent and the person offers them US dollars, so I don't know why there would be any doubt.

This makes me think, awareness is not upto the mark and in all means we need to educate people. Even the Western young generation unaware of it is really unbelievable.

I think that the population in the US is quite aware that Bitcoin exists, because turn on any US program that broadcasts globally and you will see that Bitcoin is regularly mentioned when it comes to finance, investing or stocks. The problem may arise from the fact that they present Bitcoin exclusively as an investment, and not as a cryptocurrency - then what to expect from the average person to whom they would offer such a choice?

Besides, these girls in the video are too young to be interested in such things, so I wouldn't take them as some sort of indicator by which we should measure Bitcoin awareness.
2718  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It feels good to learn something new about Bitcoin almost every day on the forum on: February 16, 2023, 04:11:37 PM
I thought this forum is all about learning and sharing information?

You're not wrong, a forum is a place where you can learn something, and when you learn, you can share it with someone if you think it's important.

How will others know this same thing? Or you are saying that I am the only stupid one that knows nothing because I couldn't read well? What about others? Are we to keep quiet whenever we learn something that others might benefit from?

I assume that most members know that this website is not an official site that represents Bitcoin, but there are certainly those who did not know that - although even in case you still live in the belief that it is an official Bitcoin site, there is no harm - because the information on that site will not mislead you or others in any way because it is under the control of good people.

Since you are a legendary member then pls guide me, maybe next time I won't have to do the same. Since it doesn't matter.

I think I already did that, and if you didn't understand, the advice was well-intentioned. Here's another tip -> don't judge members by their rank, because there are a lot of members who have high ranks and still don't know the difference between Bitcoin and blockchain Wink
2719  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers constantly. on: February 16, 2023, 03:55:45 PM
I will be putting more effort to reporting such spammers, They are mostly from 1xbit, probably alts. It looks like their campaign manager does not care about the post quality or unnecessary burst posting.

I have already mentioned it several times, but it seems to me that it is an alt farm that was bought by 1xbit and that they are actually only apparently paying someone, while they are actually advertising for free, of course if we exclude the amount they paid for all those alt accounts - but I assume that you also get a discount on bulk orders of a BTT accounts Wink

It feels good to learn something new about Bitcoin almost every day on the forum

Okay, you've learned something and there's nothing wrong with that, but how about not opening a new topic every time you have a thought or learn something new?

You have been living in a delusion for years because you think there is an official site for Bitcoin, and that same Bitcoin is decentralized and has no CEO, official site, forum, central bank, spokesperson or anything similar. A small tip that is really worth a lot - when you visit a website, I advise you to read the "about" section, and then some things become much clearer Wink
