2721  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change - What would YOU the community like to see and join us???? on: January 27, 2012, 04:10:41 PM
Do you have the equivalent of MTGOXLIVE?  Can you prove that it can handle the traffic of hundreds of thousands of trades and tens of thousands of people watching?  Personally I wont trade another BTC on any exchange until I am sure I can see real time trade and order book data.

Hi,

You can see the order book in real time, the trade engine and system has been stress tested, and can handle anything thrown at it, we have done many simulations on it prior to opening.

As for something like Mtgoxlive, there is something like that in the works, we have an API with ticker etc, so people can make their own custom charting if they would like, there are still many things like this that are in the works from our team though.

Thank You

Crypto X Change

Are you not even going to address my suggestion regarding complete transparency?!

www.anonyupload.com has been in the news a lot and already has 53000 facebook shares. Quite a lot of short bitcoinreferences in all of those articles about the site.

Eg. http://www.theage.com.au/it-pro/security-it/anonyupload-faceless-group-steps-in-after-kim-dotcoms-arrest-20120124-1qewy.html

If the person behind this site actually delivers something this will influence Bitcoin.

This really looks like a scam. First they list all the reasons not to use a centralized service for uploads anymore but they go on to say "hey, but don't worry, use us, we're going to be different." and they even say they're not a scam which makes me think all the more that they are, lol.
2723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Screw Banks, Use Bitcoins" Video Project listed on PirateMyFilm.com on: January 27, 2012, 01:59:55 AM
Please don't take this the wrong way but I read the script and although I thought the idea is good it didn't really inspire me. It seemed way too typical of a commercial to me..

Have you thought about incorporating the advice of these two TED talks into your idea?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp0HIF3SfI4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU3OFJwYaqI

I have an idea of my own, let me know if you'd like to hear about it..

+1 except profits.

I meant the profits of the exchange, not those of their users. Complete transparency of the exchange but the most privacy for their users, that's what I'd like to see. And if they did that, I'd switch in a heartbeat.
2725  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change - What would YOU the community like to see and join us???? on: January 26, 2012, 02:29:59 PM
Well it would seem like you have all the bases covered when comparing to mtgox and other exchanges yet there's one area that everyone ignores or doesn't think is relevant that could significantly set you apart from everyone else and that's TRANSPARENCY.

Have a transparency page that shows:
-how many users are signed up
-how many of them active in the last 1/7/30 days
-how much fiat is deposited
-how much btc is deposited
-show volume of new deposits for 1/7/30 days periods
-show volume of new withdrawals for 1/7/30 days periods
-show all orders, all of them, none of the dark bs
-show us your entire profit history
-show us the entire costs of running your business
-show us everything, be as transparent as you can without it becoming a security risk

Then you'll really set yourself apart from the rest.

Burger, Bier und Bitcoins - a short feature aired today by the big public-service German television broadcaster ZDF about Berlin's bar/restaurant room77 that accepts bitcoins. The feature concludes that Bitcoin won't be serious competition to dollars or euros because it's used by nerds only. phew  Cool

- German thread

I thought that was really the most fair and good quality report on Bitcoin we can ever hope to get from the corporate media. They even explained the technical details almost completely accurate and yet fairly simplified.

Iran’s dire straits

Well I hope this does take off somehow, would be really cool to see!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL AHHAHAHAHAHAAH I love the free market Cheesy
2730  Economy / Speculation / Re: +200% profits on bitcoinica in 1 day on: January 18, 2012, 12:20:32 AM
Man isn't the free market beautiful Cheesy

I see nothing wrong with Bitcoinica, no one who didn't gamble lost anything, it was all on a voluntary basis which is the most important part.

As far as price stability of Bitcoin, I again see nothing wrong with it fluctuating. It's precisely because Bitcoinca exist that people can easily hedge and avert any severe loses for a small price. All this whining is just kids betting and losing, booohooo.  Roll Eyes

What do you think, did I nail it or what?  Cool

Any suggestions before I post it on his google+ post?

1. Bitcoin to me means a glimmer of hope of achieving true financial sovereignty in my lifetime.

I strongly believe that the reason for most of the suffering in the entire world today is because people have forgotten what money really is and have been all to willing to relinquish the control over money to governments, bankers and big corporations. Without central banks and legal tender laws enforcing every fiat currency there is, no way the governments could be so big or even exist, there is no way governments, bankers and big corporations could get bail-outs at almost zero rates at the expense of the taxpayers, there's no way all these wars could be fought and payed for, there's no way people could get robbed blind by the transfer of wealth through inflation caused by creating money out of thin air by central banks and fractional reserve banking, there's no way markets would drive up such huge and devastating bubbles, there's no way the vast majority of people could have been financially enslaved to a life of constant hard work and mindless consumption barely scraping by not to mention being broke at old age.

Bitcoin could potentially change all that. I believe a commodity money like gold or silver would too but those are just too easily controlled by men with guns. Bitcoin cannot be controlled by anyone. It is governed by computing power and the laws of math. Everyone has to follow the same rules that were agreed upon at it's conception, everyone knows the rules and can plan their future based on those rules. No one can stop anyone from either receiving or sending Bitcoins and no one is forced to disclose who they transact with if they choose to remain private which means everyone using them is entirely and completely financially autonomous.

Bitcoin frankly to me means a chance at true freedom.

2. Obviously I believe Bitcoin has a huge potential as a monetary unit or currency in it's future. As long as the technology can maintain it's integrity I believe it will succeed. Since it's practically impossible to stop by men with guns I believe it will prosper if nothing else it will be a huge success in the black market. Because of it's rules I believe those holding Bitcoins will be rewarded once the issuing of new Bitcoins slows down. And finally if it so happens and Bitcoin doesn't succeed we now have a blueprint that can be improved upon and we'll potentially see new and better versions.

3. The best use so far has to be in international transfer of money. It is hands down the best, fastest, cheapest and safest way without any nosy and costly middlemen. Second best use so far that I've seen has to be wikileaks being able to receive donations despite the men with guns freezing their paypall and mastercard accounts which is just one small example of it's true power.

4. Like I said, in my view, everything depends on the question whether or not Bitcoin's technology can maintain it's integrity meaning it must be able to maintain the agreed upon rules and cryptographic security. If it can, I believe the sky is the limit.

5. Bitcoin the system probably not. But we definitely need better layers above the core system to make the technology more user friendly and accessible to a much broader audience.

6. Another great thing about Bitcoin is that is governed by true free market forces. Finally we have a real experiment, which can't be manipulated in anyway that will show us once and for all that freedom is the best way for a society to govern itself and that all the retarded economic theories out there about how we need a government to regulate or tax and provide certain services, how we need a central bank to monitor the fiat currencies, how we need the bankers to facilitate trade will be put to rest. And good riddance, I will happily dance on these theory's graves.

One more thing, before you start preparing your TED speech, please watch this video and try to incorporate it's advice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ZoJKF_VuA
2734  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is stopping Gov't from starting their own blockchain... on: January 13, 2012, 11:28:46 AM
I wouldn't use a government control blockchain, would you?  Roll Eyes
2735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Answer "What are Bitcoins?" on: January 12, 2012, 05:15:38 PM
"A digital commodity that behaves like cash" is what I would say to a layperson.
2736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: News.com.au mention of bitcoin - Party drugs popular with online shoppers on: January 07, 2012, 09:58:12 PM

but joking aside, article raises valid concern though, new untested substances can be very dangerous and harmful to health

that's corny. So can the thousands of subtances we non drug users consume in our food and beverages every day..

Not to mention it's complete and utter bullshit since vendors get reviews and couldn't possibly sell unless their stuff was of good quality.

articles like that make me sad though. It does, however, make me curious of just how big the SR economy is.

I checked the site a few days ago and they have loads of offers up but their forum was down so I couldn't check that. I'm also not a customer, just a nosy lurker.
2737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we need regulation based on morality? on: January 06, 2012, 07:12:28 PM
If the people are moral the strict free market regulations will reflect their morality.. As long as you are transparent I have no problem with whatever you choose to do.

If anyone has any doubts about what will happen with the dollar, you just need to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KURRO5mcHCw

That's an excerpt out of this speech/lecture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgMclXX5msc
2739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is no Tulip on: January 06, 2012, 04:27:29 PM
The sole reason I strongly believe in Bitcoin's success and viability is it's mechanics regarding the issuance and limited supply. I would not support any similar currency that doesn't include a similar rule so USDcoin or any other fiat currency can kiss my ass.
2740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increases in bitcoin prices are bad for merchants on: January 06, 2012, 04:20:58 PM
Can you really envision a world where everyone meaning 100% of participants think something will only go up in value? I sure can't.. And that's why it's a fallacy.
