Is there any software to support the bitcoin network without hogging the HDD? I have some spare bandwidth on my server, but running just some client seems to be useless.
I think if Bitcoin wants to keep it's decentralized resilience we need ^ ASAP. The node count and the blockchain size are both the only two things that worry me when it comes to Bitcoin's future.

To say it simple. How many people are selling there gold now? Not alot I guess, since its a long term investment for the most right? Why do they not sell there gold? Cause they believe its getting worth more in the near future right?
Doens't Bitcoin have the same thing right now? Also, lets not forget that alot of people bought high when Bitcoin price was at its peak or above $10 and don't want to sell low. They can just hoard it and wait till it gets high again some time around 2020.
I'm selling some of my stash whenever I need more fiat to pay the bills.

Why would the majority of the people that have bitcoins spend them if they know bitcoins are becoming scarce (wich equals to more value) while time passes?
Why would the majority of people buy new computers if they can wait half a year and get a significant discount? EDIT: lol now that I actually read the thread I see several other people pointing out this exact same example

Awesome. If he sets it up for bitcoins I'll definitely buy a copy.

I think we can all agree that the real criminals are the people at JP Morgan who "lost" 7 billion dollars and counting.
Losing is part of investing and not that I think JPM are angels but the only problem I'll have with their loses is if they get some sort of bail out.

If anything, the shorting Bitcoinica offered was probably good for the economy, because it kept price rises in check.
+1 Bitcoinica gave the market the tools to make bets in all directions and through game theory eventually the only possible outcome is a relatively stable price. Not to worry thought because if no one else it looks like kronos will soon fill the void left by Bitcoinca.

Awesome job BitInstant! have you thought about Greece? I am dead serious.
^ this!
|
|
|
It's going to be Argentina 1999-2002 in Greece soon enough.

i thought the USD was supposed to go down?
Patience, let the central bankers do what they do best.
|
|

In Greece you would have just to sell bitcoins for euros, Sure... but how would this seller get his € out of Greece? Is he Geek and willing to keep his money in Greece?
|
|
|
Yes i did. What i wanted to say is they should integrate it on their own... not "thinking about it" after the fact...
You really expect someone to sell their hard work for something they have never heard of before without thinking about it and at he min researching it first? You must be joking.

Maybe launching a service to facilitate capital flight?
That's the only thing that has any chance of some traction since Bitcoin is so far out of their general population's world view making it extremely hard to accept as valid. But a path to avoid capital controls is surely going be attractive once their government starts limiting people's freedom with their money. Awesome! Now we are getting somewhere! How would you envision such a service working? No idea and I personally probably fear the monopoly on violence a bit too much in order to engage in breaking the capital control rules in a foreign country. But I imagine someone will want to take that risk and facilitate capital flow out of the country and instead of smuggling cash they can do it with bitcoins.

This is funny.
They talk about how dollar sucks and how we need to get rid of all that s**t... and they take only dollars for the film...
Have you not read my post above yours?

From the filmmaker: Hey hazek,
Thanks for your email. I appreciate you blogging the film on Daily Paul. Hopefully that will give us a boost.
I hadn't considered Bitcoins as payment, but we'll certainly consider that. Distrify also offer an affiliate program, where you can sign up with them and share the film on your website or Facebook page, thereby received a commission off all sales derived through that. Just a thought anyway.
Will definitely look into the Bitcoin opportunity.
Regards, Ed.

I dis-agree. In a reasonably tight 'one world' solution a lot of the problems the EURO has (or pretends to have) would vanish.
let me give you several reasons why there will never be a one world currency: Just because you don't think gold is not a world currency doesn't mean it's not.

3 guys in line at an atm is pretty lol for being used of evidence of anything.
You're missing the point. What you are saying above DID NOT HAPPEN. The pictures weren't the evidence. Read the article to learn what the evidence is. trust me i know very much what is going on, what went on, and what will go on. i just loled at the photo. The photo was merely a poorly chosen illustration for the zerohedge article and practically irrelevant is my point. I guess I could have dropped it when I posted about the article but I decided against it in favor a little visual stimulation.. perhaps a mistake.
