By the time this ever becomes and issue bitcoin will likely be irrelevant.

2723  Economy / Economics / Re: Japan. The Yen. The Hyperinflation. on: May 18, 2013, 04:17:44 PM
Hyperinflation is not going to happen to the Yen. Period.

They can barely inflate it with their monetary policy.

No.

This is a silly thread.

You should consider seeking help through a medical professional.
2727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin conference coverage by Smoothie on: May 18, 2013, 04:07:17 PM
I am a little bit disappointed that there still isn't anything I can really *buy* at this conference. It seems like it would have been the perfect place to sell ASIC's, or specialized Bitcoin hardware (BFL has a hardware wallet on display) or any sort of Bitcoin stuff (I wanted to buy the ATM on the spot). I know I wasn't prepared with our Laser Engraved Diamonds, so I'm thinking making next conference we might see some real commerce going on.

Seems like the only way to even get a whiff of an ASIC in 2013 is to invest in ASICMINER.

And considering the guy who runs ASICMINER is now making like a million dollars a week, it really makes you wonder how the hell we're almost halfway through 2013 and ASIC rigs are still only in the hands of very very few people.

Took long enough.

Is there any boxes of fans Cheesy

I snapped a quick pic of one of the units BFL had on display:

I'm still here at least, though my only real success was getting A1BITCOINPOOL to pay up the 40 or so BTC he owed and tracking down the guy behind "HomelessJackie". I haven't been as active as I used to be. I do intend to start skiptracing regularly once I am financially-independent, which I hope is sometime shortly after my Avalons are delivered.

You tracked down the guy behind Homeless Jackie? Nice. I must of missed that.

Again with all this alt coin stuff... Roll Eyes
2732  Other / Meta / Re: currency exchange threads in newbie and alternate crypto currencies forum on: May 18, 2013, 03:05:55 PM
Problem is no one wants to see alt coin threads outside the alt sub-forum...
2733  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin experts on: May 18, 2013, 03:05:16 PM
Seems like a good way for people to figure out who knows what theyre talking about when they read those sub-forums.

I don't see any downside to it.

Yes, he's clearly attempting to run scams on the forum.

Who is "the community"?

A "community" of one.
2738  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 18, 2013, 12:24:36 PM
After reading and thinking a little bit about this I think what TradeFortress did was more akin to vandalism than outright scamming.

You could maybe make an argument for fraud. But really what he did and what his intentions seem to be fits almost perfectly as digital vandalism against Ripple.
2739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi, please start moving your coins on: May 17, 2013, 06:30:29 PM
Why do people just automatically assume that we're at the best of times for BTC, why not cash out when it's 1000$/btc? Better yet why not cash out from USD to BTC?

I am not talking about the best time to cash out. My point is that some anonymous entity controls significant part of Bitcoin supply. Is it really more trustworthy than Federal Reserve? If it moves a single satoshi from the first few blocks, you'll probably see panic selling on the markets.

So I suggest that that entity decides whether it plans to spend bitcoins, or not. If it plans to spend them - then it should announce it in advance and do it at predictible rate, otherwise it would be a pure market manipulation and a nightmare for all bitcoiners.

If it doesn't plan to spend them, then it should destroy them.

Pretty good point actually.
2740  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TradeFortress is a scammer. on: May 17, 2013, 06:00:30 PM
I don't understand what's going on here.

So far people are claiming this sequence of events:

1. TradeFortress posts thread in newbie section asking people to do something on ripple and that he will give them one ripple BTC.

1a. TradeFortress does not mention that people who follow his instructions could lose BTC.

2. People follow TradeFortresses instructions

3. At least one person ends up losing *actual* BTC because of TradeFortress.

4. This is completely acceptable.

Is this correct?
