- Are you guys thinking about the possibility of sending Bitcoin to addresses outside the Gems application? Imagine I am in a shop and I want to pay something with Bitcoin, I would like to use my Gems wallet. Currently this is not possible, only if the shop in casu would have a gems account which is in your list. In that case it would be useful to integrate for example a QR scanner, like some Bitcoin mobile wallets have, so you can scan the code and immediately do the transfer.
This is the most important I think. I like the other suggestions. Useful feature and should be considered. |

You can send it, for example if you want to send him 0.1 btc, you type: 0.1 btc or 0.1 bitcoin then you see a miniature bitcoin logo appearing on the right side and just press it and confirm. You can leave the spaces between the digits and btc too if you want. |

I took part in the crowdsale. Now I have some gems in my koinify wallet, but zero gems in the getgems app wallet.
As I understand my airdrop share depends mainly upon:
1- how many users I have invited so far
2- the amount of gems already owned by me (my gems wallet - as displayed in the app)
How do I make sure that I get some credit (for buying those gems during the crowdsale) when airdrops take place ?
Do I have to send my gems from my koinify wallet to my gems address? (the one attached to my phone number?) Or is there some other way to notify the system?
If you want to receive credit on gems owned you need to send the gems to the application, since i am pretty sure it gets calculated from the gems app account. That's my guess as well. I understand I will be able to send them from my koinify wallet once crowdsale is over? Shouldn't they put it somewhere clearly explained in the app or on the website? I introduced several friends and acquaintances to Gems at the moment. As a student, I notice it works especially well when being at a student party/drinks, when people are already a bit tipsy and you explain a few of them they can earn money with an 'improved version of whatsapp'. As soon as a few download it, more people become curious and also want it.
Another strategy that I want to apply, is to replace all my groupchats from whatsapp, to Gems, by making them all download the App and decide to do the communication through the new groupchat. Unfortunately we will have to wait for the iOS release to be able to do this, since among university students the Apple market share is relatively high.

I have one more comment: when helping these students to download the App, I noticed that my name was not automatically precompleted in the registration process. Since I was standing next to them, I could supervise and ensure they were filling in my name, but if you invite people over whatsapp and you are not with them at that particular moment, they might skip that step.
I thought it would be pre-completed? Are you guys aware of this possible flaw?
For the rest, congratulations with the funding from Magma VC! You should try to roll this out asap, because it would not surprise me if Facebook and Whatsapp are as we speak already working on similar features for Whatsapp, besides competition from other start-ups.
I'm waiting for the iOS, but i believe you mean this part right? Why was the name changed to Getgems Messenger?
Anyone knows why it was changed? Just Gems was much simpler, any reason to overcomplicate it? People suggested the change because searching for Gems in any app store reveals tons of game apps, and even other messenger apps. Having a unique name (e.g. WhatsApp) is a very good idea. Getgems is a good alternative it has been the name of the website aswell, but calling it Getgems is no mandatory you can just call it Gems. In that case I personally believe it should be named Gems Messenger.  It actually was called Gems Messenger, but with the issue i explained. |

I did another Bitcoin transaction (tried it twice) half an hour ago to my cousin and this did not work however. It was never transfered out of my wallet and it never arrived to her. No clue how that is possible, since I entered my code. I hope these problems will be solved soon, since this feature (being able to transfer money in a click from one to another) is one of the coolest things which I like to use to show people the possibilities. It's called Getgems instead of Gems, maybe it has been solved in the new one don't know, but to be sure send this to them also as a direct message on https://twitter.com/getgemsorg in case this goes past them. - When you invite a friend through a link that you share in whatsapp, telegram, etc, and people register through that link, I think it would be better if you are automatically rewarded instead of those people having to enter your name. Because I noticed if I really have to push people to fill in my name, it comes off a bit suspicious, like if there is no real advantage for them to switch from Whatsapp/Telegram to Gems, but only for me. What if i invite a friend without a link? Just say that he should go and download the app, then there is no link to click, in this case he has the option to give my name which is useful. What happens if I type: 100 gems in a group chat? Will it give me the option to then select how I want to divide these 100 gems over the group members
in the group? That would be really cool. Imagine you owe 20 gems to Pete, 35 gems to Robert and 47 gems to Julia. This equals a total of 102 gems. If you could then type ’102 gems’ and it gives you the option to divide this 102 in chunks over different groupmembers, that would be cool.[
- In group chats, an option to share a picture/video/file with only a selection of the group, would be also nice. Imagine you want to make a joke with someone, but he is the only one not being able to see the picture. Sending the picture and deselect this person from the list you send the image to would be a nice feature.
- In the wallet, it would be nice and in my eyes even necessary if you could see a list of transactions that you have done (incoming and outgoing transactions). This way there can never be confusion about Gems/Bitcoins being sent to one of your friends. These are pretty nice ideas for devs to look into. One more question: what happens if the 50.000.000 gems of the presale are not all sold. As it looks like, not all Gems will be sold during the presale. Will you extend the sale or will the chunk that is going to be used for the airdrops simply be bigger? Any unsold GEMZ tokens will be burnt at the end of the sale, by sending to a verified unspendable address. Again, great job till now and keep up the good work! Hey Netnox, I've read the update on the Konify blog.. I do see they are keeping their options open in regards to the name, using both GEMZ and GEMS in the article. Anyway the article is what prompted me ask the question about having to transfer GEMZ yes or no. "All referrals are being tracked internally by the Gems team, and users will be compensated for their contributions when the iOS & reward systems go live." If I understand correctly rewards are distributed based on your GEMZ stash, the 20% 80% part in the whitepaper. How can they keep track if my GEMZ are not yet connected to my username/account? I think your quote refers the contribution score of the total number of new, active users you have invited will be tracked. Regarding rewards on your stash in your account which is the second contribution score i think it can't be tracked as of now because it is not possible yet to send Gemz to the app, although i'm not sure by account if they mean Koinify account or the Getgems app account. This is what i've gathered from reading it though. So many ways to get rewarded actually which is pretty cool. |

Blijft natuurlijk wel de vraag, voor de average joe, die geen Bitcoin gebruikt of in welke andere vorm van cryptocurrency geinteresseerd is, wat Gems toevoegd ten opzichte van Telegram.
Dit is een vraag die ik ook al een paar keer gehad heb. Ik som dan de voordelen op t.o.v. Telegram, de vraag is of dit genoeg is om mensen over de streep te trekken.
- Het versturen van Bitcoin of Gems instantly naar mensen in je lijst
- Het beloont worden voor helpen met de groei van het netwerk
- Beloont worden voor het bekijken van advertenties en nooit ongewensde advertenties krijgen
- Een slicker design (zeker voor de dames)
- Voorkomen van spam, omdat je voor het sturen van berichten naar gebruikers die je niet kent Gems moet betalen. Dit valt onder adverteren. - Uitgebreide en verschillende opties voor het adverteren, zie hier- Ieder gebruiker krijgt een Instagram achtige hashtag. - Ieder gebruiker kan de minimum bedrag dat die wilt ontvangen voor advertenties instellen. App is inmiddels weer te downloaden via Google Play. Het ziet er top uit en werkt prima. Merk dat ik nog wel moeite heb om mensen te overtuigen om over te stappen op Gems. Meest gebruikte argumenten zijn: 'whatsapp werkt toch prima' en 'als ik geld weer overmaken naar vrienden doe ik dat wel via mijn app van de ING/Rabo/etc'.
Wat dat betreft zie ik het eerder hypen in een land waar het betalingsverkeer via internet nog niet zo goed werkt als in Nederland. Als het vanuit dat soort landen groot wordt, dan zullen Nederlanders vanzelf wel weer volgen en zullen mensen het in Nederland ook downloaden omdat iedereen dat doet.
Doet me denken aan toen ik in 2007 overstapte op Facebook. 'Hyves werkt toch prima'? Het duurt altijd een tijdje voordat de massa de voordelen van een nieuwere en betere versie van iets inziet.
Daarnaast ben ik benieuwd wanneer hij voor iOS uitkomt, aangezien bijna al mijn vrienden Iphones hebben. Op dit moment kan ik er daardoor zelf helaas ook nog niet echt gebruik van maken.

Daniel Peled: Gems is not another altcoin. Gems is a Social Messenger integrated with Bitcoin 2.0 technology. You can compare Gems is a Whatsapp type of phone messenger. However Gems is the “grown-up” version of Whatsapp with means secure and private encrypted messaging. Gems offers users rewards in Gems for inviting their friends. Gems will also be given if the users contribute to the network. Gems is designed in such a way that its main purpose is to help introduce cryptocurrency to the average person, and this in a fun and easy to understand way. Serge: You made the comparison with Whatsapp. Why would users switch from Whatsapp to Gems? What makes Gems special?
Daniel Peled: Many people are aware of the security issues with Whatsapp. Security breaches, hacks, leaked information or photos and other things have haunted Whatsapp from the beginning. The reason why Whatsapp is having so many issues is that it’s not using encrypted messaging. This means that the services provided by Whatsapp are not private.
Furthermore Whatsapp was just bought up by Facebook for around $19 billion. Regardless of the security hiccups and serious questions about privacy, Whatsapp has become an extremely valuable service for their users. Also Whatsapp charges users $1 per year for the use of their app. It is also rumoured that Whatsapp is storing users data, like conversations and things like that. Nevertheless these are just rumours but if they are true, we are concerned about it.
I will not go into detail on the exact how and when Gems came to be. Suffice to say that we looked at Whatsapp and thought: we can build something much better. It is much better than Whatsapp because of the following reasons.
Gems is free and will not ask for a subscribers fee ever. We at Gems will never store your data and we will not have access your private messages. Furthermore we approached the whole advertising theme in an original way. If any advertiser who wants to contact users or want to put some ads in that certain users like to see, the advertisers will need to purchase Gems in order to do so. This creates a market where users can profit from their Gems. Users also have the ability to say no ads. This is really bringing the power back to the users who make the network strong.
In recent days we also noticed more and more interest in our platform. It was quite high from the beginning but still it gives gratification that all our hard work, ideas and creations are appreciated by the community. Clearly we are doing things right since our followers and people that want to use our app is rising on a daily basis.

Installed the new version, I now have Gems app and Getgems app on my phone.
Whats the difference and is their version log somewhere, so we can keep track of whats being updated, improved or changed? Does the search feature work in your 'new' version? Regarding the search option they said on Twitter it will be unlocked soon, for now only a few can be found. i know this is probably answered somewhere in the thread, but how will the distribution be handled when the sale ends jan 5th. 34 million sold so far, so I take it 16 million will be burnt if this figure stays the same. Will the total supply also drop as a percentage - IE Originally 50% going to presale = 34 million, so will it be also 34 million divided up for airdrop, bonuses etc?
100 million GEMS is the total currency supply in the GENESIS BLOCK. Eventual supply is achieved as follows: 50 million Gems distributed to stakeholders; 30 million Gems distributed as daily Airdrop rewards during ~3 years after launch; 12 million Gems reserved for bonus block rewards, promotion, marketing, bounties; 8 million Gems + Presale BTC will fund the network R&D and operation costs.
No the distribution of the remaining 50 million stays the same. There was never a 50 million distribution. TO be more specific, what bout the Development Team: 8,000,000 GEMZ?  8 million Gems + Presale BTC will fund the network R&D (research & development) and operation costs. I think this is a more concrete explanation of 'development team' which was stated previously. Yes, I get that, but lets assume that only 35,000,000 gems will be sold during the ICO, what then? Still keeping 8,000,000 Gems will not be fair. I don't mind, i rather have devs to have a certain amount of deep pockets then having less. I would agree with you if devs were not honest and transparent which Gems has been. The concept has a good chance to succeed so more financial support would help them with that. |
