2721  Economy / Economics / Re: Rumor: E*Trade Is Close to Launching Cryptocurrency Trading on: May 01, 2019, 09:46:27 AM
It's obvious that E-Trade and other traditional investment brokers will jump into cryptocurrencies, given the massive profit potential and growth in the space. This may be why BTC has remained above $5,000 despite the Tether scandal. Mike Novogratz of Galaxy Investment Partners was correct in his call that 2019 would bring more institutional interest and investment.

I am expecting more and more brokers to be jumping into cryptocurrency craze soon as they would not want to left out or their customers taken away by more aggressive players with more offerings. This may not mean massive for Bitcoin but certainly over time can be exerting a big influence on its price and movement. As they say, the more the merrier. Let these brokers introduce better level of services for all of us to enjoy. I am seeing 2019 and beyond can indeed be the years when infrastructures are built for the long-term.
2722  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia to replace USD reserves with Bitcoin on: May 01, 2019, 09:27:49 AM
I think the U.S. sanction has something to do with Russia getting involved with funding Venezuela. They have started diversifying it's assets and of their choices is bitcoin. It seems that numbers of countries are starting to move away from depending on U.S. dollar and fining alternatives, and starting to consider bitcoin as one of it. This will have a huge impact on not just bitcoin but also the whole crypto market.

When the time will come Bitcoin can be replacing many countries' reserve currency then it can definitely be making big impact to its price and perceived value as it can finally start playing like the functioning digital gold. However, getting there can be a not walk-in-the-park kind of thing as there will always be those who are not convinced of the value of Bitcoin. I am then hoping that soon Russia can be announcing this as an official decision. But I am hoping that USA will not retaliate by strictly regulating Bitcoin in its territory.
2723  Economy / Economics / Re: China's Proposal To Ban Cryptocurrency Mining Has Little To Do With Environment on: May 01, 2019, 09:19:05 AM
Yep, it is laughable for a country that produces most of its electricity from the dirty coal power. It never about the environment, but about capital flight. The Chinese government is known for facilitates capital inflows, and at the same time blocking the capital outflows.

Yes, the government is of course just using environmental concerns (which can be valid, anyway) to cover up the real reasons why finally they are acting against Bitcoin or cryptocurrency mining. This business is making money and the government can tax anybody doing business within its border. This has something to do with the fact that they don't have comfortable control within the industry most especially on the tracking of capital outflows or money going out of the money coming from this industry. Well, if there are doors shutting down there will certainly be new doors opening, so I am not worried about this development a tall...in fact this can be an opportunity just waiting to manifest itself.
2724  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-17] Expectations and reality: economic benefits of Bitcoin on: May 01, 2019, 09:01:55 AM
The problem with most merchants are the fact that most of them do not want to deal with Bitcoin directly, they want to accept Bitcoin through third party payment processors to avoid the caveat of having to deal with Bitcoin's volatility. They do not see any bitcoins, because the payment processors handle the conversion from the bitcoins they receive to the fiat conversion and the fiat transfer into their account.  Roll Eyes

The ideal scenario would have been for them to accept Bitcoin directly and then trading some of those bitcoins when the price is better. You can convert some of the bitcoins to cover your expenses and they can see the rest as an investment option.  Tongue

I do not see anything with this because it is now accepted for merchants to be using third-party services like Visa or MasterCard in dealing with customers' transactions. This is for merchants to avoid many headaches and hassles and concentrate more on managing the business. In fact, had there been no third-party services, I think many merchants may not choose to accept Bitcoin into their business. Many merchants do not want to expose their business to extreme volatility because they are very much concerned with their margins. This is something many entrepreneurs do understand.
2725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin (BTC) Gaining Interest From Investors, VCs and Tech Companies on: May 01, 2019, 08:47:51 AM
Bitcoin (BTC) Continues to Gain Interest From Investors, VCs and Tech Companies. The crypto industry is alive and well following Bitcoin's recent 35% rally.
https://sludgefeed.com/bitcoin-continues-to-gain-interest-from-investors-vcs-tech-companies/
Here is a recent article which talks about how big name companies even in the stock market are shifting toward bitcoin and also the private equity world has been very active even in the 2018 bear market. Also points out some interesting data

It has been a while actually that Bitcoin has the eyes and ears of many leaders of different industries but it took them a lot of time to jump into the bandwagon due to perceived risks involved. Bitcoin still has many skeptics around and there are even popular figures who seem to have a vocation telling people that Bitcoin is not worth it at all. This year can be the turning point as far as adoption by different industries and leaders is concerned...and we should hope that things can be swelling into 2020 - 2022.
2726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gab wants to make a browser rewarding you in BTC on: May 01, 2019, 05:55:27 AM
Quote
Brave will give users a 70 percent cut of its advertising revenue, which Eich estimates could work out to about $5 a month.

At 5$ a month, and that is most likely for US citizens or at least Western world I doubt many will take the offer since right now I would probably pay myself 5$ to not see all those annoying ads every time I browse around  Grin. I've never understood people that don't use adblocking add-ons
Besides, I wonder how long is going to take before they are overrun by bots: one, two days?

Actually, I've been using Brave for the past couple of days and I don't see the ads and don't have to click on anything. I still get paid though, about 1 BAT per day.

I am also getting to be a rabid fan of the Brave browser...it is good, faster and of course ad-free. Plus it has a rewarding system for its participants. The feel is actually more of Chrome though Brave is lighter in my experience. The only thing I hate before is that auto-correction is not a part of the browser...good thing there is actually an extension for the same purpose which I installed. I see a good future of Brave as long as they continue to innovate and listen to what their users are communicating to them.
2727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to Bitcoin maximalists: What defines a ShitCoin? on: May 01, 2019, 05:49:22 AM
Not a bitcoin maximalist per se(though a huge majority is BTC), a shitcoin is simply a coin/token that is either:

1. Unnecessary: A perfect example would be Dentacoin. A coin for dentists? wtf?
2. A scam or a pump & dump: No explanation needed honestly. e.g. Verge(XVG)

And I fully agree. Shitcoins are there just to make things cloudy and shitcoin developers are existing or doing their things for the sake of getting money or remunerations as their contributions are not needed that much. Shitcoins who are scams are usually victimizing innocent people -- people who just desire to get something of what they investing. We have to be careful with any project that we go with...as many of them are just shitcoins masquerading as the next big thing in the world of cryptocurrency. Beware!
2728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about a Bitcoin government ? on: May 01, 2019, 05:45:18 AM
That Bitcoin government wouldn't exist for sure. Why? Consider on how he would faced up current centralized government worldwide? How can it be approved nor to operate as it should be without violating any rules that do centralized government had? Theres no point on creating one yet people do like crypto as it is and we can stand without the need of that Bitcoin government.

What we actually need are current governments that are friendly to Bitcoin and would have laws and regulations laying down the parameter in doing Bitcoin-related business. Though it is good to dream of a separate island that is primarily governed by the ideals set by Satoshi Nakamoto and his Bitcoin, the reality is that it can so difficult establishing one. Massive adoption means that people all over the world, governments, businesses, organizations are into using Bitcoin everyday.
2729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Mining Still Viable? on: May 01, 2019, 05:41:04 AM
Is mining bitcoin still a viable venture to undertake in today’s world? We will explore that question in this article. But first, let’s explore the various ways in which you can mine Bitcoin.

By reading this article we are assuming that you are already familiar with the basic fundamentals of Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining. In this article, we’ll explore the actual hardware, software and technical aspects that are required in order to be profitable in Bitcoin mining...

https://www.bitcrypt.co/is-bitcoin-mining-still-viable/

With the current price of Bitcoin, I am sure the Bitcoin mining activity can still be profitable and viable depending on the location, the cost of electricity and the political culture of the place you are in. This means that in many areas Bitcoin mining is already dead because of high cost and less availability of power. There are place where electric can be cheaper but politically the atmosphere is not friendly. This is in fact, bringing the next question: What if there be less and fewer locations where mining can be viable...what will happen to Bitcoin and its sustainability? Can we develop new technology for Bitcoin mining where the demand for power is not that significant?

If Satoshi came out with Bitcoin2.0 would you use it over Bitcoin current client, if he advised you to and let you exchange your current btc into it? let`s say he used his keys to 100% prove it is the real person or team.

First of all, I don't think the real Satoshi Nakamoto would ever do that. He (assuming that Satoshi is not a group of individuals) does not want to claim influence nor popularity that is he left just as Bitcoin is about to be known globally and I don't think he will be changing this character just for the sake of anything. Unlike many other cryptocurrency leaders of this generation, he is not very much motivated by greed but by that opportunity to contribute something that can make humanity much better.

2732  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-21]Top 5 Blockchain & Cryptocurrency-Friendly European Nations on: May 01, 2019, 03:47:07 AM
A country can be "blockchain friendly but not "crypto friendly". Also calling a country blockchain/crypto friendly is subjective. For exemple, following the author's logic, a country with only 2 companies is labelled as "friendly". (Such big, much important) I guess there are several dozens of countries to add to the list so. Personally, I wouldn't call a country friendly just because companies are located there. I would call if the country and/or its citizens use blockchain/cryptos. (cryptos, smart cities, ...)

There can be many variations or degree of a country's friendliness towards Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and the blockchain. Yes, there are many countries who are acknowledging and even now utilizing the innovations of the blockchain technology, but they are not sold with Bitcoin -- and China is the best example for this and even Russia. Now, for me, as long as the country is allowing fintech companies with leaning to the blockchain and cryptocurrency to do some business then it can be friendly...though of course just like any other industry we should not expect that there will be red carpet laid down for these players. I am then hoping that this kind of mindset spread to other countries globally.

We don't know the details of why he decided to sell at a loss. There is a big possibility that a very opportunity not worthy to pass came on his way that is why he decided to let go of his Bitcoin hoard. People like this guy know business, and they know how to calculate risks. So on my personal view, though we may not agree with his decision, it can be hard to judge him as we are not the one on his own shoe. What is certain is that $130 Million is a lot of money...and that can be the reason why this is reported and why many people are at awe.
2735  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-12] Bitcoin Mainstream Adoption - CryptoDailyGazette on: May 01, 2019, 03:13:10 AM

Any news that is related to the possibility of more Bitcoin adoption is always picked up by the cryptocurrency-focused media and can be because there is really a big interest on stories like this. We need more adoption and we need more infrastructure that can help towards that adoption. The only lacking in the big way are users and consumers who can be using the infrastructure to make Bitcoin eCommerce go around. We need more and more people to spend their Bitcoin and not just hold them indefinitely...actually this is a major problem for many merchants who are already into the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency bandwagon: lack of sales from people using cryptocurrency. Are we then now picking up the side effect of too much speculation?
2736  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-29] Institutional Love For Crypto Confirms Bitcoin Isn’t a Bubble on: May 01, 2019, 03:00:52 AM
Why are we allying with the enemies now? Bitcoin was supposed to be a rebellion against institutions.

This is a very valid question and I supposed everyone in the Bitcoin industry can be asking the same since we know that Bitcoin is supposed to be the big disruption of these institutions. Now, ideally that should be. Realistically, though, we have no choice but work with these institutions as they still command the power in the traditional financial ecosystem. In other words, Bitcoin could never be an island alone.
2737  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-30] Millennials Are the ‘Driving Force’ of Bitcoin Ownership: Survey on: May 01, 2019, 02:54:01 AM

People belonging to the so-called Millennial Group are always the driving force in many industries especially those involving technology and innovation and this includes Bitcoin. I am not anymore wondering for this but then again...there is a need to expand more the influence of Bitcoin to all sectors of the society so that its future can be bright and solid. We need older people who have the capacity to "invest" to also join us here while we are educating them on the importance of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.
2738  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-30] North Korea Exploits Southeast Asian Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: May 01, 2019, 02:45:12 AM

I have no doubt that North Korea is very successful in attacking many exchanges and crypto-related establishments in just those based in Southeast Asia but even in many parts of the globe. Can be because they have the sophisticated capacity to do so and it is very lucrative. I guess the best thing to do is to develop countermeasures that can rival this sophistication for the sake of protecting possible victims of the mayhem. Now, if this reality can be exploited by anyone in the pursuit of their own vested interest, people have to be careful in balancing the act of understanding the problem.
2739  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Reach $100,000? on: April 30, 2019, 02:23:17 PM
Bitcoin the king of the crypto market is now in the longest bear market in bitcoin history. Many people now believe that Bitcoin will never able to reach its all-time high ($20.000). On the other hand, many traders and analysts predicate that Bitcoin will surpass the $100,000 milestone in the net bull run. Please share your views what are the key factors of the next bull run and will fuel the price above $100,000. I am a believer of Bitcoin and believes that in the next 5 years Bitcoin will be accepted by most of the big firms.

As for me, I don't care that much if Bitcoin can never be able to reach the $100K level within some years.  Of course, if it does then we have to be happy for it but it will not then we should learn not to anymore connect its real value to the current price. Massive speculation can push the price so high but we prefer massive adoption for Bitcoin. And we need more and more merchants as well as consumers who are accepting and using Bitcoin for everyday business. The more that people are predicting that it can go sky-high the more that Bitcoin holders will continue not to use their Bitcoin to buy products or services.
2740  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-18] World’s Largest Bitcoin Exchange Wants to Help Rebuild Notre Dame on: April 30, 2019, 02:14:06 PM
What's with all this dick swinging when it comes to this? If it were me I'd let it fall apart but I have a sizeable lack of sentimentality problem. I don't get why a string of billionaires are laying out for this when they could be solving some real problems.

This is the power of religion or specifically the Catholic Church to get people to donate money for the cause of rebuilding of the famous and iconic church building based in Paris. While in the recent years, growth on religion especially on the side of Christianity has had been discouraging, what is clear is that deep inside of the people the tie to religion is really deep and during the times of hardship and challenges this spirit will always show.
