2741  Economy / Gambling / Re: Fun Stats about Bitcoin Casinos | Infographic on: February 24, 2022, 12:21:48 PM
The total number of casinos at international level that are starting to accept crypto is growing by the minute no doubt. There is a clear growth in the gambling industry in general and there is nothing that would deter a casino from accepting any type of currency including a range of cryptos. I think that the question now is much more about which cryptos will be accepted, that is, what type of stability in acceptance makes creating a payment gate worth the effort.
2742  Economy / Economics / Gold is the new gold... or the old gold... or both on: February 24, 2022, 12:06:32 PM
It is with sadness that I see how bitcoin has dropped (nothing new really) in sync with the global markets around 11% last week while the old gold, AKA simply "gold" has made a rush to 6.5% in the last month. Needless to say that this is related to the war in Ukraine and the prospects of instability, not that it was unexpected, tend to draw people towards gold.

I wonder if bitcoin can still be considered a reserve of value when is following and correlating this much with stocks markets.
2743  Economy / Economics / China's strategy on the Ukraine invasion war on: February 24, 2022, 11:55:55 AM
How is China playing this?

a) Observing carefully as how the West is playing this crisis, how far they are willing to go when China invades Taiwan Russia invades Ukraine. How powerful is the response, how far is the West willing to go.

b) Keeping a distance from both sides, but not "the same distance" from both sides:

Quote
China criticized the Washington's response on Wednesday, saying the new US sanctions amounted to throwing "fuel on the fire" and were "irresponsible and immoral."

Quote
In a joint statement, Russia and China called on NATO to "ideologized approaches of the Cold War" and "respect the diversity of civilizational and cultural-historical patterns" in other countries.

As you can see, China is nothing but happy about this, as they are watching two potential enemies erode themselves and testing their strength. Lots of lessons will be learnt on the handling of this crisis and I would not say that Europe and Democracies are playing a great role in terms of intimidation, yet at least is managing to stay reasonably united.
2744  Economy / Economics / Re: What economic sanctions will US impose on Russia on: February 24, 2022, 11:08:53 AM
Why do you think that the USSR fell? Do you think that they woke up one morning and decided that, after all these decades and millions of dead communism was not such a great idea after all? My answer is no, the USSR fell due to the mismanagement of the economy and the strangling of the production of energy and basic goods.

Economy is not as spectacular as dropping bombs and invading with tanks, but make not mistake, it is a tool that can be as lethal as a gun.
2745  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Africans Celebrate Coups. on: February 23, 2022, 12:21:36 PM
I think that some Africans celebrate coups, and, more precisely, the ones that actually have a stake on the coup and consider that they somehow are going to be benefited from it. Another possible reason is that, after the coup, the government becomes basically worse than the previous one so there is always a good reason to celebrate that they are gone once for all.

Now seriously, Democracy is not possible without education, is as simple as that. Uneducated people rush to populist leaders because that is something easy to understand.
2746  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argument against vaccines quite flawed on: February 23, 2022, 12:17:24 PM
would you change the uncertainty about the vaccine being unsafe for the uncertainty about the virus being equally unknown and certainly unsafe short term??

People who are uncertain about taking the vaccine should look at the data. Vaccines have been available for over a year, now. The protection they confer against both severe disease and also any level of infection is quite clear. Once you look at and understand the data, then the decision should be obvious.
...

People who know that there are still ways to get at data and info which corp/gov censors might be running across other information.  Such as this:

Atheletes vaxx adverse reactions or dying-Volume 3
  https://www.bitchute.com/video/qIixgz5UbsyF/

Yeah, yeah, if you look at 'the data' and 'the science' (on the 'safe' media) then you will 'know' that these things are perfectly normal and they happen all the time.  Or that it's all because of the effects of 'covid-19'...even though it didn't seem to be happening in 2020 what the plandemic was 'raging' and the de-pop shots were not rolled out yet.

Sorry, people are not that stupid.  More and more they can figure out what they are seeing.  No more chumps lining up to get the de-pop shot.  The chumps who did got it under EUA have only themselves to fall back on for help as the get sick and die on their march out of the gene pool.

So, your argument is that you have the right information, in this case, that vaccines causes deaths, while the official media is lying in the sense that the virus does not cause deaths. The people working their assess off in hospitals are lying, most doctors, except the ones that you follow, are lying and everyone with a vaccine will die.

Your proof of this is an "alternative news outlet" right? Are you aware of the difficulty of others believing you?
2747  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 23, 2022, 12:12:47 PM
One has to reckon that Putin did not lie at all. He said he was not going to invade Ukraine and he did not. Instead he declared part of Ukraine to be independent and then invaded those independent bits.  Grin Grin One has to admire that ability of being so honest and open about the true intentions of the military concentrations.

What is going to be next? "No I am just taking a cup of tea, this boiling water will not be poured unto the dissidents, but if they happen to be in my cup... too bad"??
2748  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Crypto drafted bill release date shifted, do not be misinformed on: February 23, 2022, 12:08:36 PM
There seems to be a little of a yes, but no, but maybe, but not yet, but already in all this. I guess they want to get it right, which is really what you need to do to inspire confidence and create a healthy ecosystem. The moment Russia makes the regulation people will start making their decisions and then there is much more impact to any change. It is the same for digital USD and digital Euro. Anyway, Russia seems a bit busy now shelling and manoeuvring around to pay excessive attention to this.

2749  Economy / Economics / Re: What's happening in Canada ? on: February 22, 2022, 02:02:13 PM
I understand that people are not seeing eye to eye in Canada right now.
People have many different opinions and I try to stay compassionate and not judge anyone.
I’m lucky, I feel like most of my friends are open but many people just don’t want to hear the other side.
That means that people are ignorant and that they didn't have the proper education to be able to have that, in my opinion, it's better not to care about them because they're not going to change, instead spread your open mindedness elsewhere that you're appreciated. I think that people not seeing eye to eye is a good thing because with that kind of approach, we will be able to point out if someone's doing something wrong.

Is just that people have not been given proper assurance and they are so tired of the governments manipulating the information and generating their own versions of "truth". Now, when we need to have some faith in what goverments say and there is a lot a risk we can only observe that these are not doing any better, with plenty of contradictory information and senseless measures. That is why people feel cheated and protest.
2750  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation hitting a 25yr old record | Predictions for the future on: February 21, 2022, 09:43:04 AM
There are three possible scenarios for most of the rich world going forward:
Stagflation: Inflation without growth. An offer shock (see commodities prices) including energy causes inflation, interest rates are raised and then growth collapses.
Hyperinflation: Same, but interest rates are not raised to protect zombie companies and the mortgages market and inflation becomes rampant.
Controlled inflation: Inflation corrects once the world trade resumes its due course. Interest rates go back to ultra-low and our zombified economy goes on until next COVID without any structural reform.
2751  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia gives in and considers accepting bitcoin exchange on: February 20, 2022, 12:09:06 AM
https://www.euronews.com/next/2022/02/09/russia-s-government-and-central-bank-agree-to-treat-cryptos-as-currency

From considering a ban to admitting that it is nearly impossible to prevent the use of bitcoin, that is already extended to millions of its citizens that will not stop their trading and holding just for an official ban, the government has chosen a much wiser path, legalise and make sure that the actors of the market are clearly identified and can operate in full compliance with legislation.

I think you are late to post this news. Just not long ago I responded in a similar post because yesterday's news is not very flattering, and raises a completely different picture from what was expected on the 9th:

This is a link to a good source(RU)
https://tass.ru/ekonomika/13754269
Nothing changed. The Central Bank wants to neutralize cryptocurrencies in Russia as much as possible by banning banks, commercial organizations, etc. And the Ministry of Finance wants to regulate this area. But there is no result yet. It is not even clear what taxes will have to be paid.
__
Just do not write more about the Communist government, this is complete nonsense.

You can read the Russian newspaper using an online translator, I have done so.

I got the information form several outlets. I guess it is a time of undefinition and continuous changes in opinion even from the governments. I take it that since it changed in 9 days, it may very well be back into track in another 9  Tongue I think that keeping the ban is just ridiculous as you would be ignoring transactions and people would still find the way to trade even if they have to fake KYC and the like in foreign exchanged.

2753  Economy / Economics / Re: Canada to freeze Freedom Convoy Protestors bank accounts... on: February 17, 2022, 11:47:58 PM
It's very hard to believe that a progressive country like Canada has taken such a drastic step like an authoritarian country. Peaceful protests comes under human rights. I didn't hear any news of violence during the trucker's protest. So it's surprising that Canadian government has decided to freeze the bank account of the protesters.
Be it peaceful or not peaceful protests, this is what the government of a nation will do, this is one of the advantage of their local currencies, for the government to have the full control. It can even get to a point they will deny their citizens of internet and electricity. Most countries if not all are now not in authoritarian regime anymore but there are some contr the government still want in form of authority. Life is always partial, especially the government aspect of life is always totally partial.

These protest are not really "peaceful". Peaceful means that it also has to be harmless and the intention of the protesters may be just to complain, but they are creating a big reputational, practical and economic problem, so you cannot class this as peaceful. Freezing the accounts of the protesters makes them feel in their own skin the effects of what they are doing to other, who also have families.
2754  Economy / Economics / Re: What's happening in Canada ? on: February 17, 2022, 11:44:35 PM
What has happened is that the government has taken quasi-dictatorial measures against those who do not act like they want. In theory for the common good, to get rid of the pandemic, which is more like an epidemic, and which is just now less dangerous than ever since the March 2020 outbreak. But if we look at the past, all dictators, even those who murdered millions of people, did it for a supposed common good.

And, yes, Bitcoin has provided a window of opportunity to break free from the clutches of the state.

I think that the government of Canada is absolutely wrong on the measures taken. After Omicron, a large part of the world has already been exposed to the virus and the variant resulted quite weak compared to the original COVID. I think it has been the best vaccine to date.

Now, what the protesters are doing is not a sensible way of protesting. It creates too much chaos and it seems frivolous and harming for the economy and image of Canada. I think is a result of a psychologically difficult year for everyone.
2755  Economy / Economics / Re: Nice job Justin! on: February 17, 2022, 11:40:23 PM
I would not say that JT has destroyed anything. There is a limit to the protest in terms of the effects that causes and how it may affect many people that do not really want any involvement. While it may look like protesters are super-cool and they are teaching a lesson to those crooked officials and the like, they are actually causing an economic problem for many that is not being given the right attention by the media.
2756  Economy / Economics / Re: Why many USA senator against bitcoin? on: February 17, 2022, 11:38:00 PM
We have seen there are miscellaneous reactions about bitcoin among US senators. On one side Colorado Governor Jared Schutz Polis announced that "his state will begin accepting Bitcoin for tax payments starting this summer" on the other hand Senators Jim Risch, Bill Cassidy, and Bob Mendez look aggressive against any step towards bitcoin implementations.

Some said using bitcoin as payments instead of US dollars will demolish the sanction power of the USA towards other countries. Do they fear bitcoin for losing control over the world economy or do they know the adoption of bitcoin will diminish the unchallenged sovereignty of USD?

Perhaps they have interest that are in opposition to the aims of bitcoin. For example they may be in the boards of banks or their lobbies that pay for the campaigns and supply them with information and means to win election may be linked to the banking or the traditional investment sector. There is not much more that I can think of, unless they have been victims of scams and now think everything in crypto is bad.
2757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto stuck in sports betting site, now they want KYC on: February 17, 2022, 11:34:36 PM
I know how you feel, it happens not only on betting sites, but across the whole crypto scene. The offer or the ICO or the product is usually unclear, then you do some research that does not really convince but you give it a go. Then, once they got your money or crypto they start setting conditions after the fact. It is in my view unethical and sites that use that marketing technique should be publicly shamed and end in obvlivion.
2758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: February 17, 2022, 11:30:33 PM
<..>

The future of the metaverse is promising, and when combined with the increasingly advanced technologies of VR equipment, if combined with crypto, they can be a huge success in the not too distant future.
Unfortunately the value of the equipment is still very expensive and inaccessible for many people, I hope this changes soon.
Only on the issue of health, I'm a little concerned, because if today people already exchange many experiences of face-to-face relationship through online and video chats, imagine then that the metaverse is quite widespread.

regarding costs it'll probably go down, remember personal computer and cellphones 20 years ago? it was much rarer to see it and much more expensive.

regarding health I agree with you, in fact I'm reading a book by Naval and just read a page where he says that in general, more screens = less happiness, less screens = more happiness.

I agree that the cost will decrease significantly over time, but if you are the first in line, the cost will be extremely high, even though you will experience it sooner than others. I imagine that when the touch screen phone first became popular, the price was prohibitively expensive, and only the wealthy could afford it; now, however, they are inexpensive, and anyone can afford it. I believe that the same thing will happen with virtual reality equipment. We only said that the more screens you have, the more things happen, but that hasn't been the case since we've become lazy and are wasting a lot of our time.

I think that one way forward would be to convert the gambling activity in something more social, something that could have a place in the future metaverse and create business opportunities to cross-sell other product or even virtual real state to the people gambling in such scenarios. Something like a mix between sales, social activities and a place to meet people akin... there are so many options to explore.
2759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake Wagered $1.3 million in super bowl bet using bitcoin on: February 17, 2022, 11:28:03 PM
Bah is just in canadian dollars  Grin Thanks to these initiatives that will make bitcoin become more mainstream and less based on gurus and people who got in really early. The   publicity is well worth the money - well as long as it is not mine  Grin Now, jokes apart, I think the guy made a clear point about his trust in bitcoin and I seriously hope more mainstream influencers make displays of bitcoin being used and add value to the ecosystem.
2760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: February 17, 2022, 11:24:45 PM
It is amazing how Sevilla has made itself into a challenger, I would not have thought this possible just a couple of months ago. I reckon that it may now be the time to bet on Betis, as their usual rivalry with Sevilla may give them some motivation to try to catch and cover the difference now that is still possible. I think that with Mbappe Real Madrid may actually be even more effective, but it may take a bit of time for him to get used.
