2741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 24, 2014, 01:51:10 AM

I was talking to r3wt in that post.  You've been talking to the same person if you have been talking to any of those accounts.

 r3wt = h4xx0r = extortion?

If so, check out my conversation in the liberation thread. It sort of makes me question his sanity.
2742  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 10:51:07 PM
h4xx0r, poornamelessme ...

If you are serious about your concerns, read and understand what Spoetnik is trying to say, instead of picking on parts of his arguments. OTHER people are posting what you claim, not him. There are (or were) many different angles in that thread, before it went downhill.

For example, I joined with the view of bringing some credibility to the scene, and bailed out when the first forking coin threats came. The issue are not shitcoin devs, are people that already bought coins. What those guys are doing is punishing the victim, again.

Now, otoh, SOMETHING must/should be done. What are your suggestions?

Edit: oops, the thread evolved quickly while I was writing. The point still stands though.

At the end of that shitcoin thread, there is this one post:

Quote
This is called extortion.

Actually, there is a real comitee being setup with major pool admins, major exchange owners and trusted people in this community.

It will NOT ask for any monies from the developpment teams. However, there will be a strict review of the coins and tests prior to launch to make sure the coins are legit and built properly. The devteam will also be checked to see if they have the required knowledge/motivation to keep their coin afloat.

This here is just extortion. I do NOT support this Operation at all, and I recommend that anybody stays away from this. This has no credibility whatsoever.

My 2 cents.

I am not fond of any sort of regulation or committee, but if it's going to be done, I'd much rather see major exchange owners doing it, for free  ... than a group of somewhat suspect people here doing it.

The only other suggestion I had was education. Post threads or articles here about what coins are good ones, which are... well, not so good. As for sockpuppets and such promoting coins, it'll happen ... can't protect everyone, nor should we really try.
2743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 10:27:27 PM

i never even seen what you are claiming so i can not say anything about it which is why i didn't advocate or speak out against it..
and forking a coin or threatening to fork a coin is not extortion and hacking.
you guys are defending a scam coin that work precisely like a ponzi scheme and your shifting the attention to what random people may or may not have said
then that is a nice diversion tactic nothing more .. stick to the subject at hand please.

I never said forking was the same as extortion. Asking for a fee so that a group won't fork you, however, is extortion.

I apologize if I sometimes misspeak and include those who support educating people about scamcoins as being complicit, although I do find it odd that more haven't spoken out against ddosing and extortion tactics ... such as yourself. Then they change the subject and act like everyone is pro scam coin.

I have suggested several times, and if I recall correctly, even to you, in that thread, that education would be a good route to go. Post articles, thread, blog... whatever, about what coins are worth investing in, and which are scams.

As for what people may or may not have said, just go look yourself in the threads. They said it, right there.
2744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 10:14:15 PM
i don't recall seeing anyone say anything about ddos'ing or extortion at all (prove it) so pinning that on ALL of us that support the idea that shit coins are out of control is silly.

BCX has made several posts about killing coins and SERVICES:

In the liberation thread:
Quote
Just to give you some feed back, a pool is being built at this time that will allow miners to join the "Kill Pool" anonymously and it warms my heart for people like you to call me Facist LOL...

Not only will we fork coins but will also attack services that support them.

Operation Shitcoin Cleanup underway.

~BCX~

There are a number of extortion posts in that shitcoin thread too, just look at the last page. No idea how serious it is, or who that puppet belongs to. Just the fact that the OP and other key members don't speak out against it, is somewhat odd ... unless they are complicit.

Quote from that shitcoin thread, last page:

Quote
We are getting close to getting operational, Pools being setup and other various attack vectors.

Soon we will be in a position to take applications and fees from coin developers who are legit and do not want to be attacked!

Probably need to put up a website and application process / quiestionarie and Attack list at this point.

Textbook extortion.
2745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 10:06:49 PM

Hmm. he seems pretty "honest" for a scammer. I have a question though.

Some things i noticed:
He gets very angry when people question him, which is dumb. he is the owner of the website, we demand answers.

One thing that confused me, he claimed 34 btc was stolen, then a couple pages later he posts a link to a pastebin containing the supposed "hackers account", which shows a bunch transactions. it looks like there was nothing in place to stop the same transaction inserted over and over with a bunch of zeros wrapped around the hash. this is a critical flaw, and should never have been allowed to happen. if you know how to contact r3wt by email, send me a pm. i've seen things like this happen before, and i'm wondering if his server might be compromised.

Afraid I have no idea what his email is. I emptied my OpenEx acct a long time ago, as the exchange always felt super shaky to me. Although I had some coins on CoinEx instead... which obviously wasn't a good idea.

I am not sure if the btc was stolen, or lost... or whatever. He seems to say several things. I just find it odd that he came out with his own shitcoin, had a failed exchange, and then supported the shitcoin cleanup thing. At the very least, there may be some who would question his sincerity.
2746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 09:56:10 PM

where did r3wt mention extorting people? you keep mixing your accusations between r3wt and "they", so i have to ask. are you high, or does everyone from hollywood parade about in this manner, throwing out accusations without being able to back them up?
I should have been clearer then ... members of the group wish to extort people, ddos pools, etc.

If a person supports said group, they are supporting their actions. If r3wt  feels differently, I would hope he'd post his differences with those members in that thread.
2747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 09:45:07 PM
Here it is:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508674.0

I know towards the end of the thread r3wt posted this:

Quote
there wasn't a theft of 34 btc, nor did i ever claim it. just a 34 btc discrepancy. fuck off.
2748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 09:42:24 PM

Forking coins isn't illegal. its abusing the protocol at best, but lets face it. if a coins protocol allows it to be forked via 51% attacks, how is it supposed to be a viable form of currency in the digital age, so i argue your bubblegum leave it to beaver logic discredits you, and the opposition of that thread.

ddosing pools and services, that's an entirely different matter.
I don't mean forking, I am talking about extortion. And if I remember right, ddosing pools were also discussed in that shitcoin thread as an extra bonus.

They discuss  charging devs a 'fee' if they don't comply with them, and if they don't, they will ddos them. That is the illegality I am talking about.
2749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 09:38:27 PM

i'm gonna laugh when the idiot gets sued by r3wt for spreading blatant lies.

Feel free to educate me on where I am incorrect. On his own thread, r3wt admitted to a btc discrepancy, a loss of around 34 btc, if I remember correctly. If I repeat what r3wt himself says, where is the lie?
2750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 09:27:54 PM

You seem hell bent on ruining r3wts name. i saw several times where he stated he would not participate in the group, but supported the message of the OP.
I'm not sure what part of his post you consider false. It's all in the shitcoin thread itself.
Only the parts that are lies in order to make you and the op look credible.

Huh? The only time I have even posted r3wts name is in association with the shitcoin thread, because, as you say, he supports it. If a person supports illegal activity, I am not so sure anyone else can ruin his name ...  he sort of managed to do it to himself.

2751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Warning] Operation Shitcoin Cleanout members are scammers on: March 23, 2014, 09:17:41 PM

You threw baseless accusations in your post too.... Eye for an Eye.... you imbecile  Cheesy

I am curious... what are the baseless accusations?

Muddafudda certainly made his own shitcoins ... everyone knows this.
I wasn't aware R3wt also made a shitcoin, but he did... amp, or something like that.
He also ran OpenEx, which failed, and a lot of coins were 'lost'.

They publicly claimed they wish to ddos other coins, and extort devs illegally for money, if they don't comply. It's in the thread, posted by the members themselves.

I'm not sure what part of his post you consider false. It's all in the shitcoin thread itself.
2752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 08:38:40 PM

IMO the main vector to attack shitcoins (and greedy miners) must be an educational and informational posts where you will explain the situation with the coin (multiple posts by respected members in shitcoin thread).
Other good measure is to get a trusted mod that will delete shitclones threads and ban these newb "devs". Also it's important to limit the activity of users in Ann section (make new threads pre moderated or something like that).

Ah, wasn't aware that r3wt came out with a shitcoin too. The OP also has his share of shitcoins, as well.

Anyway, this thread has little to do with educating or protecting people from shitcoins. Evidence enough should be that the person who started this thread, and members who support it, made their own shitcoins.

They want to kill the competition, and illegally extort other devs, or they will be attacked. It's a money grab that nobody but other scammers/criminals would support -- all under the guise of supposedly protecting newbies from evil shitcoins.

2753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 08:17:37 PM
Muddafudda owns Memecoin.

If he destroyed the competition, Memecoin could raise a bit higher.

I love how some fools don't realize that some of those people in that operation our coin owners. They simply just think the section is junked, and support every 'effort' to clean it. Jeez. Do your research people.

I wonder how many people who support this shitcoin idea are actual, well, non-scammers. There are a ton of puppets on that thread. I just find it bizarre that Muddafudda thought it was a good idea that he start this 'revolution'.

He made a lot of shitcoins himself.

The owner of OpenEx supporting that thread is also bizarre, seeing as he 'lost' a lot of people's money on his exchange.

It's a revolution set up by thieves and conmen. So, again, I wonder if they are really fooling anyone, or if those they get aboard are simply other scammers and/or puppets.
2754  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 08:10:44 PM
It's not extortion.

At least I'm advocating for an application process with a fee.

No different than what state governments do today for registering a real company.

The funds collected through fees are used to enforce the process.

It works through government today for real businesses, there's no reason why it wouldn't work here.

Yes a certainy amount of responsibility must be taken by the body conducting this process.  So that they don't embezzel funds.   But I'm sure we can make that work.
and from the other thread:
Quote
Soon we will be in a position to take applications and fees from coin developers who are legit and do not want to be attacked!

It's extortion. Perhaps you think if you lie enough, people believe the lie as truth. But that won't work here. You would be extorting devs to sign up, and if not, they would get attacked.

It's no different than what the mafia does.
2755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 08:03:51 PM

Aww people that actually believe that the few powerful don't rule the weak masses are just so adorable.....

~BCX~

Exactly, what we're reallying trying to do is have the few powerful folks help the rest of the weak masses by stepping up to define regulation, and create processes to protect them.

And illegally extort money from devs in the process...
2756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ✠ The Official AltCoin WhiteList ➢ For Real Coins☆With Real Devs☆With Real Goals on: March 23, 2014, 07:54:43 PM

But isn't the point of a CryptoCURRENCY to be used as a currency? If the coins get delivered, that's nice and everything is good up to that point. But then the coins get sold by the citizens for their country's fiat, and that isn't doing anything to help their situation. In fact, they are just hurting their economy even more by bringing (soon to be worthless) digits into their country, and "steal" some fiat money from other people who buy it hoping that it can change the bad state of their economy long-term.

For me to consider a countrycoin as legit and not a scam is when the people launching it are going to long-term support the citizens of the country to actively use it as a currency. Work on projects  (with the help of the devs), try to offer goods and services for it. Not just give it to them and tell them to sell it so they can have some extra pocket money, and then that's the end of the project for the devs? And the citizens will be left with a soon-to-be-nothing in their hands. Sure, I get your point, it is still free money and noone (except bagholders) is losing any money, but... if a dev is "claiming the name" of a country and making a country coin with it, he/they should have the dignity to treat it for more than that. After all, the devs make a lot of money with this because they can dump as they see fit. They should have connections to non-governmental organizations, official, public engagement with the citizens over the internet, a ton of translators etc...

tl;dr country coins should aim to help a country and not be treated as pump and dump; they are abusing the name/economic state of the country to launch a project for quick profit, bringing false hopes for some citizens, which is scammy

I can't disagree with most of your points, but when you think about it, what percentage of cryptos have a real chance of being used as a currency? Many don't even pretend to be used as a currency. I wouldn't call them scams. I'd call them really bad ideas, but not scams.

As for the nation coins, there are situations where some could possibly be used by the community. Maza, for instance ... not that I think the creators are doing a good job (quite the opposite), but it is possible that Indian groups could take it up. Payu certainly seems to be trying to get merchants to adopt it. There is also the possibility that a nation coin could be adopted after a giveaway, even if just small scale with a handful of local merchants.

If you ask me if this is likely... nope. And if you ask me if nation coins are a good idea, I'd say nope. But I wouldn't automatically blacklist all of them, thinking they are all automatically scams. I'm against this blacklist/shitcoin group thing to begin with, but there is a real danger in saying coins are definitely a scam, before a scam is even committed. It'd be like arresting someone who looks like a criminal, before a crime is committed.

I expect the nation coin fad will die out on its own, regardless, after several nation coins have a problem with their airdrops. Or a coin doesn't do an airdrop at all. I think common sense would indicate that very few of these coins will work out or are worth holding onto longterm.
2757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 07:32:22 PM

edit:
can we find some middle ground here guys ? can you admit there is a problem and can we find some ways to deal with this ?
if you defend the crap bs.. you are saying there is no problem. and if you say that i think your retarded / insane or a liar / scammer.

Start a blog, or write articles here, recommend coins for newbies to invest in and what to avoid.

The problem is, most of this thread, and this entire movement, has little to do with actually protecting newbies from shitcoins.

The OP of this thread made shitcoins.

It's a money grab by a handful, planning to use DOS attacks and possibly extortion. Apparently they plan to get others to join their kill pool, so they can do the work for them. It's pretty obvious that very little of this has to do with cleaning out shitcoins to help new people.
2758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 07:20:17 PM

The authorities are not going to waste their time investigating a bunch of anonymous users. That takes expensive investigative work. I have people all the time telling me they are going to id me by my IP address. See the sponsor at the bottom of the page? That is my IP. Feel free to start doxxing.

Very possibly true. But I'm not aware of what the laws are in various countries. Perhaps some may pursue it more than others. And that group seemingly wants to do more than just DOS attacks. If they go as far as extortion, legal authorities may get a bit more involved.
2759  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ✠ The Official AltCoin WhiteList ➢ For Real Coins☆With Real Devs☆With Real Goals on: March 23, 2014, 07:14:12 PM

That doesn't even make a difference. You can't just go look at the world map, pick a country that has a bad economy, and be like "hey, let's make a coin for that country!". They are democracies. 99,9% don't even want a cryptocurrency, hell, most people don't even KNOW cryptocurrencies, you can't just force it down their throats. If anything, a country coin should get started by an organisation in the country itself, and backed up by the people with a democratic vote on an internet site or something.

How would you feel if I came to your town, claiming I am a dev, with a bag of colored rocks, and I spread the colored stones between everyone and tell them to use them as a currency? Because that's how it's like for almost every citizen of all these country coins.

People are abusing the economic weakness of certain countries to scam two kinds of people, pump and dump bagholders who join with the intent of making a profit but end up holding the bag, and the 0,000001% of people who are from that country and hope for the better, but still end up with a failure and lose even more money even though they are already poor.

To a certain degree I agree with you. I don't believe many (or any) nation coins will really catch on or make a big difference. I differ with your definition of a scam though.

If a dev makes a nation coin, promises a certain amount of coins to said population, then delivers ... it's not a scam.

If a dev came to my town with colored rocks, said to use them as currency, and told me I could cash them in for real currency, I'd happily take them. And then cash them in. Of course as more people do this, their value will go down. But it's still free currency. Personally I believe devs have a right to make whatever coins they want, so long as they are upfront with how they plan to give them away, and deliver. And not all nation coins are abusing economic weaknesses of certain countries ... HongKong Coin and Silicon Valley (which really aren't nations, but they sort of get lumped into the same class of coins), certainly aren't economically weak.
2760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Liberation - Destroy Facist Operation Shitcoin Cleanout on: March 23, 2014, 06:56:53 PM
If any coin dev is extorted, I'd think they'd logically contact the authorities and point them to that thread. No idea if the people who posted there can be tracked down, but at least it's a start.

I did also find it bizarre how freely BitcoinExpress admits to orchestrating DOS attacks.
