2741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: April 03, 2022, 01:25:12 PM
Well Tuchel didn't thought that Brentford would play out a surprise so maybe he went easy on them. Furthermore now with CL game ahead they've got injured Kante likely. I don't think Jorginho's presence would have made much difference. Brentford were actually really good and better throughout the game.
Completely true, there is nothing else to it than Brentford were clearly the better team yesterday, even if Chelsea had started whoever you think they should have started, with the way Brentford played, pressing really high up the field, didn't allow Chelsea to build up anything from the back, winning the first and second balls, definitely there was only going to be one winner and that is the newly promoted team. Take a look at how Chelsea even took the lead, yes it was an amazing strike, but Rudiger tried his luck from distance because it was becoming increasingly difficult for the blues to create anything. Brentford won because they deserved to win, as simple as that.

On a different note, i felt particularly happy for Eriksen, a lot has happened to him in the last one year or so, but despite all that he is up and running again, and got his first goal since his return to the EPL, i wish he scores many more and retires in good health.
2742  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: April 03, 2022, 10:37:58 AM
As Atletico Madrid won yesterday against Alaves, it is time for Barcelona to perform nicely and defeat Sevilla to keep their position. And they aren't going to make do with only that. If they manage to defeat Sevilla in Camp Nou, they are going to take the second position from Sevilla too. However it is still going to be interesting then because these three teams are going to have the same amount of points. As we are entering the last weeks of the season, we might watch a solid competition for the second position among them.
Yes, if Barcelona wins, the three teams directly below Real Madrid will all be on 57 points, but mind you that Barcelona will then have a game in hand, which of course gives them the advantage; i am strongly of the view that Barcelona will finish in second place, they are more or less the most in form team in the league at the moment and even since their rejuvenation, they have not looked back at all.

I had actually though Barcelona would not compete for titles for a long time, i felt their slum period would last for a while, but i think i am wrong, they aren't going to win the Spanish League this season, they could possibly win the Europa League (i am pretty sure that is not the kind of trophy they want to be winning), but just looking prospectively at next season, with a few more signings i believe Barcelona would be serious contenders for major trophies and then their crisis period would feel like ages ago.
2743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 03, 2022, 10:24:19 AM
There are still eight matches left, if 8 is multiplied by 3, that is 24 points. That points is still huge and anything can happen. Inter Milan has one awaiting match and if won, it would have the same point with Napoli, I am not sure who has the most goals. Also AC Milan is leading with just 3 points, what is the assurance that they would win the league this season. Juventus is so close too, if the three clubs above Juventus give Juventus little chance, they might lose and Juventus may win the league, but the chance this would happen is very low. But even if Juventus did not win and the winners would be AC, Napoli or Inter, we still do not know who the winner can be as they are all close in points to each other.
I second absolutely everything you wrote here, that is the sort of thrilling and entertaining season we are having in seria A, to be honest it has been a long while since we experienced this sort of competition in the Italian league, Juventus were always running with the title, last season Inter broke the status quo, and this season the competition even got a whole lot stronger.

Man the league is very far from over like you said, the points difference between the four top teams is so small, and any slip up can give a chance to any team waiting to capitalize, the only way AC Milan can be certain of the title is if they have an impeccable run till the end, and in football you can't guarantee that. I will just grab my popcorn and see what happens from now till the end of the season, my support for Inter is well known, and i really hope something happens that will take them back to the summit.
2744  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: April 02, 2022, 05:03:16 PM
1. Wike don declare interest for presidency. Him no be small man and him state no be small state, that one mean say nobody go write am off.
In my opinion, Wike stands absolutely no chance to be the president of Nigeria, his declaration to me seems to have a hidden agenda, one i can't really figure out right now, but i am pretty sure that deep down in his heart he knows he doesn't stand a chance in hell.
3. Wike get two heavy battles to fight. One to win Atiku and then win APC for main election.
Peter Obi is also a strong contender for the presidential ticket, and personally he seems to be the best candidate to represent PDP, honestly isn't it time for the likes of Atiku to give us a break, what does he have left to offer. Nigerian politics is really appalling to say the very least, the most 'qualified' candidate never wins, it is always the most popular/corrupt that takes the day, i have a slight hope that the 2023 General Elections would be a whole lot different that what we have had in the past, Nigerians need to change the status quo, enough of being inure to sufferings, let the best/most qualified candidate be elected.
2745  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How bitcoin has employed more African youths. on: April 02, 2022, 04:47:17 PM
I enjoy hearing about how people in less privileged countries prosper due to their use of bitcoin. Some of the most successful people in the world come from nothing. Even hearing about how people in third world countries feed their families from signature campaign pay right here on bitcointalk warms the heart. Bitcoin gives opportunities to  so many people worldwide. We can all be thankful in different ways for our early discovery & subsequent adoption of bitcoin.
I second that really, in some first world countries signature earnings could be considered to be more or less just 'pocket money', but in some third world countries, let us say earning around $80 a week, sum it up to $320 per month is really a good sum of money and many people who work real jobs do not even earn that much after working for a month.

I am not saying people should rely on signature canpaigns, and i am very sure you are not saying the same, (they should take it as a secondary source of income), but it is just great to know that in one way or another people are benefiting from their knowledge of Bitcoin and their willingness to accept the technology, IIRC the 19th million Bitcoin was mined yesterday and we are basically just left with two million more (and even though we would not be alive to see it all mined), i am very much excited to know what is going to happen in the Bitcoin network in let us say the next 2-3 decades, and to know how far we would have come with mass adoption and all, it feels great to be in this network i must confess.
2746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Be Under Pressure To act (Altcoin) on: April 02, 2022, 01:24:52 PM
we most are careful and not to be under pressure to act either adding to our assets or letting off some from our bags.
That is true to an extent, of course it is important not to be affected by FUD and sell your coins, but mind you that a lot of that depends on the coins that you are hodling, personally i consider majority of altcoins to be short term projects/pump and dump coins, and if i held any of them and there happens to be a real crash on the horizon, i can't assure you that i am going to hodl on the them. What i am basically saying is that one should only plan to hodl onto coins that are long term projects, like Bitcoin for example. But if the coins you own are short term projects, i would advise you sell them as soon as you have earned ROI on them.
2747  Other / Meta / Re: Exceptions to the unofficial Bitcointalk rules. on: April 02, 2022, 12:50:09 PM
But in this thread I don't want to focus on that specific case, but in general if there can be exceptions to the unofficial rules and if you remember cases of exceptions.
Since the rules is more or less an 'unofficial list of BTT rules', then there would always be exceptions, see what Theymos had to say:
But I don't believe in having a set of hard rules which is to be applied to all cases.
Thus, since there is never going to be anything like a set-in-stone rules on Bitcointalk, then there would always be exceptions, especially based on how the mod who handles the case/issue interpretes the 'rule' pertaining to it.
2748  Other / Archival / Re: My contribution to the fight against low-value posts on: April 02, 2022, 12:31:57 PM
Selfless people like you are very rare. You dedicate your time and resources to ensure that this Forum gives out quality information. In our society where capitalism has infused profit maximization in the mind of almost everyone. But, I am sure that your voluntay service will always be remembered and your rewards will surely come. Best regards.
There is actually no 'reward' per se, of course for someone who reports that amount of posts within such a short space of time, you get the deserved recognition from the community, which Ratimov absolutely has already, the only sort of 'reward' might be in the future if the Admin of the forum decides to implement a reporters badge that has been discussed previously, if that happens then Ratimov is definitely going to get one, no doubt about that.
You are just amazing i wish one day i will become like you how hard you working in btt and just in 3 months 30000 reports its just possible for a big boss pro btt user we are just a tinny ant to you.
In my opinion, being a newbie you basically should be more concerned about contributing to the forum through learning more about the forum in general, Bitcoin/other whatnots, and making quality posts and participating in discussions, thus somewhere along the line you can now start reporting posts in mass, it would be easier for you then as you will be able to discern which post is LQ/not in the right section/breaks the forum rules, etc.

Ratimov, you already have quite a few threads dedicated to helping users rank up when they have a few merits to go:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275032.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391172.0
You are also amongst the top generous merit givers in the forum, likewise a top reporter of low value post, and a high quality poster yourself; Your efforts to make the forum a much better place is really appreciated by the community, well done mate.
2749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: April 01, 2022, 06:40:46 PM
I'm banking on Chelsea to win both games.
That is quite a bold prediction mate, especially when the team in question elimimated PSG, are you a Chelsea fan Wink? It is definitely possibe that Chelsea wins both legs, it is also possible Madrid wins both legs, it is that sort of game, two big teams, two European giants, though Madrid is obviously the 'bigger giant', two super powerhouses, i can go on and on, but my point is just that i find it very difficult to confidently predict games of this magnitude as it can go either way cause the two teams are somewhat evenly matched. I would hope Madrid wins though, cause i do not like Chelsea Wink.
2750  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 01, 2022, 06:27:11 PM
Juventus - Inter game is going to be really interesting at the weekend.
If Inter drop any point in this game, then they can say goodbye to any title hope or aspiration they have, if Inter are to have any chance of retaining their title, then they must be impeccable from now till the end of the season, and hope the teams above them make a mistake that they will capitalize on. Juve on the other hand have a chance to go into third position by beating Inter (though inter has a game in hand), but at least Juve get to top them temporarily if they take all three points, it would be a frantic encounter; well, a draw seems to be the most likely result, and as for who wins the title, i think AC Milan are going to get it after a very long time.
2751  Other / Meta / Re: Is the IQ test really necessary? on: April 01, 2022, 03:24:51 PM
people hoarding merit regardless of your post there by making you not feel like posting...
Oh really! I am just in the know that earning merits is a reason why a user would want to make a post, and then we get to a situation like this: 'no merits earned, then i ain't gonna post', fair enough Grin
but the iq test is way better, you get the answer then you get rewarded instantly
I am pretty sure Theymos is going to get this suggestion soon: "substitute the merit system for the IQ system" Grin
Lol, I'm seeing some post that it's a joke
Absolutely not, it is on mate! Wink Grin.
2752  Other / Meta / Re: IQ testing now required before posting on: April 01, 2022, 03:13:05 PM
I didn't really have anything to post here, just wanted to test my IQ again Wink. By the way, the industrial revolution began in Britain eh? Cause that was my answer right before posting this, lol Grin Grin.
2753  Other / Meta / Re: Is the IQ test really necessary? on: April 01, 2022, 03:08:36 AM
And in your opinion, is this IQ test necessary?
Definitely it is, don't you trust Theymos Cool, this would be a success the same way the implementation of the merit system Grin and the enhanced newbie restriction was Roll Eyes.
2754  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Livecasino.io - 🔥 Review Campaign 🔥 on: March 31, 2022, 12:16:17 PM
I made a deposit into the website using the BTC option, the funds refelected into my account very fast, no delays and no problems about that at all. I see users can sign up either through Google, Facebook or by completing the registration form, one of the requirements (though stated optional) is that of users phone numbers, i think that is somewhat unnecessary and only very few users are going to provide such information, what do you guys need it for if i may ask? There is also the requirement of date of birth to be filled, i can see in your earlier post you stated it is specifically to ensure users below 18 can't use the site, hell that is very easy to circumvent by just falsifying your age, so i consider it unnecessary as it doesn't in any way help for the purpose for which you put it there, but it could turn out to be counterproductive as users who are strict about their privacy could discontinue from the site (and going no further) upon seeing that.

I could not find the crash game so easily and there was also no sports betting, so i decided to use that opportunity to test the support chat and ask questions on that, the reply was instantaneous, i like that, i was sent a link to the crash game, and as for sports betting, this was the reply i got: "Livecasino is an online casino site where the main focus is tible and slots games", what do you have to say about this, does it mean there is no chance of ever having sports betting on your site?

The site takes forever to load, everything seems so slow to open, i really do not know if it was my network, but i could access other sites as of the same time with little or no speed issues, if it was faster, i would have been happier.

I see you have many varieties of games, as well as methods of deposit/withdrawal which is somewhat commendable. Overall, the aesthetic appearance of the site is good, i like it. I tried out the crash game, as it is kind of my favorite, i enjoyed playing it, very entertaining, i won and lost, lol.

I also noticed users have to verify their emails before making withdrawals, which is good, i didn't have too much problems overall, i also got the message from you guys to enable 2FA, that is a good as regards security, that will be all for my review for now, of course i would not halt in using the site, except of course if i have personal reasons to. Thank You, Good Luck.

2755  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 31, 2022, 01:28:06 AM
From the look of ranks, I am not worthy to make comment here, but I picked up courage to voice out my view. I am sorry 🙏. From the OP and other's comments, all are well spoken. I want to also know something from the OP. Is there any specific Rank that is meant for merit source?
Newbie jail no longer exists, so you can comment on any thread irrespective of your rank. No, Theymos didn't restrict any rank from being able to apply for a merit source position. But the thing is you ought to be a reputable member of Bitcointalk forum to stand any chance, see the requirements:
If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.
And also I registered in this in the month of December, 2021, by then till now, I am only seeing  one merit source out of the 111 mentioned. What happened to the rest merit sources? Is it that they are active but I don't noticed them or they are inactive?
Going by this post, i guess you are referring to Ratimov as the only MS you have noticed, but that is not true like i told you in that thread, you are prolly only noticing him cause he has two threads designated to help users rank up, which is really appreciated by the community and that is why he is amongst the most generous users giving out merits, look at this thread to find out other generous merit givers: [Top-200] The most generous users giving merits. There could be a few reasons i can imagine why you're not noticing other merit sources:
1) You're posting in boards they don't read
2) They are prolly not interested in threads you post on
3) Maybe they skip your post because it does not meet their criteria, etc, etc...
4) LoyceV has a thread that can help: Report unmerited good posts to merit sources
Adding more merit source will help the forum very well but but what of about the 111. If the 111 are not utilized well in the forum and you bring another ones what do you think will happen to them?
It is still up to Theymos to decide if the "merit system/economy/process isn't flowing as it should, personally i think we need more merit sources, but i disagree that the present sources aren't doing a good voluntary "job".
2756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 31, 2022, 01:02:35 AM
The 2022 World Cup will also be the last chance for superstar Lionel Messi, who is no longer young.  He will exert all his energy and potential before closing his career in football.
Yes, it has to be his last chance, i can't see Messi playing in another World Cup, the Argentine has already said recently that he doesn't know what's going to happen after the WC, and i deduce that to mean retirement from national football. If Argentina are to have any chance of winning the WC this year, then Messi must put on his best show from game one to the last, at the moment, he isn't playing too well in his club and he prolly has lost something since leaving Barca, there are even rumors Messi could leave PSG when this season is over, Argentine fans would be hoping Messi solves all his club issues and is relaxed coming into the WC so they would have a huge chance of challenging for the title in Qatar.
2757  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2021] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 31, 2022, 12:08:31 AM
I actually have a question Is the Awards are for specific Position as explained in Page 1.

Isn't it is possible for the Awards same for every Country community or some awards for community sebior members.

One more question as Repeat Posts are not allowed so Is there is Source merit in every Community or just in Particular Community. Thanks
Phew, i will have to be absolutely spot on to interprete your questions. No, the awards isn't for specific positions, anyone can be voted for, but in order to qualify to vote, you will have to have at least 50 merits, or be a full member and above.

The awards is open for absolutely any user, irrespective of local board/section. (I am guessing that is what you mean by "country community")

Not in every local board (i am still guessing that is what you mean by "community" here). Theymos chooses Merit Sources, and yes some MS in their application state their intention to be more active in giving out source merits in their local section, thus if such MS are accepted, they can be said to be dedicated MS for such local section, i see you are from Pakistan, so i will give you a related example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5287171.0 i do not know if that user was later selected as a merit source in your local board. But overall it is up to users to apply if they want to be MS in their local community; and Theymos to decide. Here is how to apply:
Quote
If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.
2758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Long Term Holders - When Do You Plan To Cash Out? on: March 30, 2022, 11:00:26 PM
I prolly could consider myself a long term hodler cause i have come to understand the Bitcoin network, and i would want to be in the network for a very, very long time indeed; but as regards "cashing out", i am not rich in Bitcoin, i mean i do not have so much Bitcoin and i definitely do not feel any pressure, i can imagine if i had a certain amount in Bitcoin, then i could have thoughts of converting a fraction of it and putting it somewhere else, but as things stand now, i have not accumulated that much Bitcoin to worry myself about selling, i am basically just hodling and that is that.

Having said that, there are not all that many options of what to do with your physical cash if you sell your Bitcoin, yes i know there are a million options, but what i mean is something that is or could actually be better than leaving it in the Bitcoin network. Your option with stablecoins is a no-brainer for me, for obvious reasons actually, as for putting them in my bank account, i am from a country that is hit so hard with inflation, i would only be foolish to sell my Bitcoin and leave them in my depreciating/devaluing national Fiat currency.

I believe in mass adoption, and a time when Bitcoin wouldn't be as volatile as it is now, i also have the believe that somewhere down the line Bitcoin would become a safe haven asset, if all of this is possible, would there then be any need to sell Bitcoin out of panic and other reasons, i know even then one may need to convert to Fiat every now and then for obvious reasons, but you definitely would not carry the burden of spontaneous volatility in mind and you can sleep well knowing your funds are hedged in a great store of value, so why sell it all.
2759  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: March 30, 2022, 10:07:29 PM
Apart from that, I can also say that when one finds it difficult to get merit on the global board with English then they are expected to get it on the Local Board mainly because of their good mastery of the language.
That could be true, but that can only happen on some local boards with dedicated Merit Sources, i mean, some local boards/threads do not even have a Merit source in their local section, thus the distribution of merits there would be more or less low, and if a user from such locale decides to post constantly on their local section solely for merits, then they will be disappointed and leave sooner rather than later.

Having said that, i personally feel that most 'local board posters' are not there in search of merits or cause their campaign counts local post, i mean, for instance there are users who post on their local board even when they are not on any campaign. Local board just has this nice feeling as you are discussing with your country men/women about local issues that concerns you all and everyone in there understands it all well as they are likewise having such experience.
2760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion Thread || Current discussion: World Cup qualifiers.. on: March 29, 2022, 09:36:42 PM
Congratulations to Ghana and they duly deserve to go through, Nigeria's performance is the 2nd half today was horrible, and even when the game was over there wasn't much sense of urgency from the players still kept very slowly with the ball and not charging forward, the coach could also be blame too for lack changes early enough into the 2nd half knowing that he need a fresh set of legs into the game, there was nothing left to lose.
I supported Nigeria all the way, but truth be told, we never deserved to qualify with that sort of performance. You are absolutely right, at some point in the game i began to wonder if the players actually knew what was at stake in this match, it was a very appalling performance to say the least and honestly i do not know where Nigeria can pick up from going forward, do we get a new coach? If yes, then who? But definitely we can't stick with Eguavoen, he looks all but clueless as regards what it takes to coach a football team, his tactics and all was basically just out of order, i don't know if he will get fired, but it very much looks like it, we have hired and fired a lot of managers down the years, and we are still yet to get it right. We have to go back to the drawing board at this point in time, and look for the best way to move the football of this great nation forward.
