Also atheist coin just got on Bittrex by sending them lots of humorous and creative tweets.  If we can keep pushing that angle too it would help.  I don't think me tweeting them on my own works:)

In actual fact if there is enough in the vault now - I'd be happy for it to be auctioned off as per the plan with special blocks.

The Vault currently holds 4276 MNR, some of the funds I reserved for the Mjollnircoin Wallet Contest (1000) and Twitter GiveAway (2000) (http://brokkir.github.io/mjollnircoin/vault.html)

If its big enough to attract interest for it, it could be the first sale to the benefit of the Bittrex fund

I've added more mining power (as much as possible as boiling hot here).  Will donate some more once it's minded but with the current mining payouts it'll take a bit of time (good thing though once we get more attention as scarcity seems to be a plus).

Great let's get it moving as soon as possible.  Maybe use the current contents of the vault too.  I've already donated 5000 a couple of days ago.  Maybe others can donate some and we might be able to accelerate things.

Let's just do it and get things moving because nothing is happening otherwise.

Sorry I missed the chat but was early hours of the morning here.  Any decision then?  I have sent 5000 coins to the vault if it helps.  Would be great to get MNR moving:)

That's a terrible idea.  It will destabilise and devalue the coin by increasing the coin supply.

Total coins would not change.  Only a few minted ahead of schedule is all.

Couldn't really devalue the coin since it has almost no value due to not being on any exchange with volume that people use.

Just getting it onto an exchange that matters will add value.

OK I misunderstood.
2749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Mjollnircoin - MNR - Ultra-secure, Fast Transactions & ASIC resistant on: June 10, 2014, 01:56:27 PM
I want to run something by the community.

What would you guys think of doing something on a temp basis to generate funds.   What I was thinking is to increase the block reward by X amount for Y time.  The extra X per block would go into a separate wallet address used for a specific purpose (similar to the donation "vault").  For example Bittrex will add a coin for 1 BTC.  So if we could generate the 1 BTC worth of MNR we could get onto a popular good exchange that a lot of people use.

This would surely help the value of MNR as it would put us on an exchange that has a good deal of volume.

Now I don't know how this would work from a technical standpoint but we could either spread out the "extra" mnr on a series of blocks or just have a super block.  I don't know if this could be done behind the scenes or if a new wallet would need to be released.

mjollnircoin, can you comment on the technical details needed to do something like this?

It's possible we could want to "generate" 2 or 3 btc worth of coins this way which could be used for some bounties or to run some contests.  I'd leave this up to the community to decide and we can surely discuss it.

Any coins generated via a superblock or over Y time could just simply be removed from the end of life mining of the coin.  I personally think a few thousand coins generated soon could be worth a whole lot more to the value of the coin (ie if used to get on a good exchange) then holding them to the end.

We have an exchange problem for sure right now which is hurting us in both growth and value.  We really don't need to be on MintPal.com but Bittrex.com and Poloniox.com would do us wonders!

To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing a small "superblock" per week that is say 5 times the normal value.  This would go into the "vault" and could be used for contests and other cool things the community could think up to generate more interest.  I'm sure this type of thing if thought out could help us tremendously right now in the short term.  The end result is that we would get done mining ever so slightly earlier as we would run out of coins sooner.  Again this could be done for only a short period of time to help generate needed funds for things mentioned above.

What do you guys think assuming it can be done?

Carlo

This coin is dying amongst a sea of crapcoins.  Unless something is done to raise it's profile it will be just another dead coin.  We need someone to take charge and start raising the profile of the coin.  Maybe someone with promotional experience?

How about someone making a merged mining pool with UNO/BTC/UNB etc ?
2753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GB Coin: Real Team & Workshops & Financial Goals on: June 07, 2014, 01:19:49 PM
I've been talking to Adrian on the GBC team about some ideas to get this moving.  I've noticed that some of the old pools aren't working.  I spoke to Boxxa and he has kindly added his NOMP pool to GBC mining - it works like a P2Pool  (no signup, just use your wallet address as username) and it's up and working fine.

These are the currently working pools:

NOMP: http://pool.nonstopdev.com/

XHASH: http://www.xhash.net/

POOLERINO: http://gbc.poolerino.com/

CRYPTOCOINZ: http://gb.crypto-coinz.com/

What would be ideal would to be getting merged mining pool with GBC/VTC/MON/PLX - I have suggested to Adrian that a bounty of at least 20,000 GBC should be offered to this (I'm happy to contribute 10,000 myself if required).  If anyone knows anyone who has the capability of doing this and would be interested please pass the information on.

For those of us who have been mining this coin the most important thing is to get more miners and raise awareness.  So do all you can to spread the word get more pools.  I spoke to Bittrex exchange and they said they respond to Twitter pressure and particularly original and interesting tweets.  So please start tweeting them and asking them to add GBC.

Also just for notification purposes there is a FAKE GBC attempting to launch too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=625791.0

Bounty (10,000GBC) Big reward for a really classy website. If you are interested please message me.
Isn't it obvious to you that you can't support a claim that a value of 10000 is "big" without a reference to the total number of coins produced?

When we turn into POS we will have our own multipool hosted by our team here.
Where exactly is "here"? Can you please communicate your real name, address and contact details and can you please ensure that they are prominently displayed on the website.

Looks like you need to take a short refresher course in UK business, the Office of Fair Trading's web site is a good first port of call: http://www.oft.gov.uk/, where you can read exactly what's expected of online businesses operating in the UK:

Quote
Although the OFT does have the capability to take criminal cases, the majority of the OFT's online enforcement deals with civil breaches of consumer protection legislation such as:

- misleading selling, including deceptive online marketing and advertising practices
- unfair trading practices by traders not complying with their legal obligations
- malicious internet practices that can have an adverse impact on consumer online security and e-commerce, and
- other forms of unfair trading practices that reduce consumer confidence in online transactions.

I strongly recommend that you take the first step in redeeming your coin launch by communicating your real name, address and contact details, it is the minimum standard for UK web business.

As an aside, I find it interesting that you're trying to launch an altcoin with a "GreatBritain" theme when those of us who are actually living and working in the UK are aware that the Union itself could well be profoundly changed in a very short time [1], potentially marooning GBcoin as an anachronistic irrelevance. This is something that any serious investor would need to know.

Cheers,

Graham

It's obviously a scam.
-Anonymous developers who probably haven't even been to Britain.
-Copied name from a real pre-existing coin.
-Couldn't even bother to do some simple research.
-No details about coin supply, block reward, algorithm
-Large bounties 10000 coins plus indicating large premine and/ large block rewards
-No details of premine

Anyone who buys or mine's this is an idiot.

The real GBC coin has named developers who are in the UK.  You can find it here:

http://gbcoinfoundation.org/

and mine it here:

Pure FUD. Hiro has a higher trading volume than over 20 coins on Mintpal, so no danger of de-listing. Hiro needs to add value in some way to make pure dumping by multipools a bit harder.

I'm all for staying the course, but would the devs consider keeping the same number of coins yet:

-change the block reward to say half
-compensate for the lost reward by adding a proof of stake with a decent interest

This would maintain number of coins and provide a bit of protection from multipools.

Is this possible to consider?

Yes it's FUD (FEAR UNCERTAINTY & DOUBT) which is entirely warranted.  That trade volume is FPGA farms dumping.  When it falls further even those trades will disappear.  The more worthless the coin is the less valuable those trades become to the exchanges as one half of their fees on the trade are in HIRO coin - which amounts to a whole heap of nothing.  Once it's truly over I doubt the devs will give you anything for your misplaced loyalty in them.

The Dev seems opposed to any changes.

Joeri has labeled people like me unethical and impatient in the past. Do you guys still think I am those things now?

Hey dude.

I never labeled YOU as unethical. But my standpoint remains ; changing a coins inflation model is highly unethical and i'll never trust or work with a crypto dev who does this. It's a very slippery slope, and I won't stand for it.

There's a difference between calling a person unethical and calling an idea or behaviour unethical. Who am I to judge you ? I don't judge you, just your suggestion Wink

Okay, I understand you don't want to change the coin's initial model. I get that this is your standpoint. You've made it clear that you won't stand for it. But is this YOUR coin? I thought this was the community's coin. What you say and what you do are at odds on this, and it's really frustrating that you speak on behalf of the coin as if it's yours to do with what you think is right. What say does the community have? Apparently if we don't agree with you, not a whole lot. You talk about transparency and openness and collaboration and how these qualities make Hiro so great, but if an idea doesn't jibe with your vision, then it gets the boot. You've said the price of Hiro is not the Hiro team's responsibility, but if you don't allow for the community to influence the coin's future, then whose responsibility is it? It's your right to judge my suggestions, but it's also the community's right to say - something is very wrong, you're at the helm, why are you digging your heels in?

If this coin belongs to you and is about you, then none of us should bother posting anymore. If you're the king of this castle, then okay, we'll go away. But don't tell us it's the community's strength and commitment that determines the success of this coin, cuz you don't let us influence squat unless it just happens to be okay with you. If this is truly the community's coin, why not put it to a vote? You may not want to change anything about the coin, but what if the majority of the community does? Why don't we find out? Does anyone out there agree with me? Hiro? Omar? Anyone from the community? I'm happy to go along with the community's needs and wants...are you, Joerii?

The coin is dead now for sure.  The developers won't listen to reason and it is obvious HIRO is just a vanity project for them.

Obviously their time and probably money is invested in #DRK and this coin is just for them to do as they please.

Well the price is under 200 Satoshi now (160 as I speak).

Soon it will go to a LTC only market on Mintpal and most likely Bittrex will just close their HIRO maret.  The other exchanges will follow them.  After that there will be no way to resurrect it.

These days there are plenty of other X11 clones and even the worst shitcoin seems to have more responsive, community oriented developers.  Any coin that doesn't dies very quickly now (unlike the earlier days of crypto).  People have also realised that there is no value in a coin that has a huge supply/coin number/reward without anything else to back it up.  There is no innovation here at all and any criticism is either removed, ignored or described as "unethical".

I mined from the beginning but have stopped because of the lack of real developer support and the inability of them to listen.  This was the last chance for them - many others have left before me and even I (sucker that I am) have my limit.

Sure it may still be profitable for a little for FPGA farms to mine HIRO for a little while due to their increased energy efficiency but that will not last.

It's sad.  This coin had potential but it seems it was only ever FALSE.  I won't be supporting anything that these developers do again and I will let everyone know that they are the inconsiderate narcissists right who caused me and many others to lose money through HIRO and their false promises.

Maybe the community can't force the DEVs to change but we always have the right to walk away and tell everyone how you treated your own supporters, the people you needed to keep on side, like shit.

HIRO is DEAD - RIP - at least it was "ethical" for the developers.

Well it's certainly not ethical for them to delete my post on Reddit.  It's also not ethical to let the coin die after so many of us have invested our time mining and buying into it.  How does helping Darkcoin help the Hirocoin community?
