2741  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: April 07, 2015, 01:37:24 AM
I am running 2 S5s and an SP20 off the same circuit in my garage and it keeps tripping the breaker.
What underclock settings should I use until I can get a dedicated circuit for my mining?

On my SP20 right now I'm at .66v (max .665) and 188W per loop.. Getting steady 1.23 TH/s

On my S5s right now I'm at 312.5M Frequency .. Getting steady 1.15 TH/s

What adjustments can I make to keep that circuit breaker from tripping w/out giving up too much hashing power?

Wow , are you on an old fuse system or 10A?

On a 20Amp fuse I can run 4 SP20's @ 600-700 watts each and 2 S5's at stock speeds with the fuse only getting warm.

Check your wiring.
2742  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 07, 2015, 01:10:29 AM
Okay, in the post he says the most efficient test was 575-590watts, 804-817GH/s so the best would be (575w/817GH/s) or .703w/GH/s.  The 1008GH/s test doesn't show a wattage.  His highest frequency test 1123GH/s drew 943watts or .839 w/GH/s.

Wish he had provided the watts at stock settings but yes, these are good numbers, better than mine.

I thought I did, but stock was 1008 / 802Watts @ .74v

The best was 805-821GH/s @ 575-600 watts between all 3 C1's I have. After that they start sucking Juice like my 3year old  Cheesy.

I stopped using them as I'm concentrating on much more efficient miners for now (SP20's / S5's), but in a few days my $0.0779 / KWh kicks in and I'll put them to work in my office as they are quiet as heck, so the quiet factor I agree is much better at the trade off , of low hash rate/ high power usage.

On the other hand, now that I think of it, it's like an Avalon 4.1. I think those go down to 800GH/s @ about 550 watts and are very quiet. Almost the same I guess. I'll have to try one.

What temps are you guys getting with them?

Both my S5's using the stock fan to pull and a Weili WD1202512SH push at the rear are still at 59/50. Although it is rather warm int he room they are in.
Just stock fan gets them over 60C.

I think the open air design is just a bad idea for these. If they were like the S3's IMO they'd be cooling more with the amount of air going through.

2744  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: April 06, 2015, 03:10:52 PM

well, i would think the best you can get for 1-3 is a coupon since the miner otherwise mines (?)
4) you could switch it with a working BBB - sounds like its either not getting power or has a more serious issue.
5/6) might be bad boards then - RMA?

4. I forgot to write.. With another BBB its work perfectly.

From 5 and 6 -  I put it together one 100% working miner and one 100% not working miner. Because one did not work right side blade and the other did not work right side blade. I swapped them with radiators.

Now I have  miner, which  only 100% working part is the fan.
It will still be 5% loss, of the twenty miners. This is EUR 500 including taxes, I've paid for this  miner.

Get some data cable extensions and run the 2 s5's / 4blades from the good BBB controller.

Thanks @philipma1957 .
Two days ago, i rent 50TH for 48Hrs from nicehash by 1.2Btc and it's over about two hours ago. but i think i'm not lucky this time! pool found only 2 block and i rewarded 0.09Btc only.I'm looking for my shifts and hope at least don't lose so much!
If you've rented it for 48hours 2 days ago, it won't be off your shifts for a few more days.

Huge pos.
2747  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Buying SSD 250GB or bigger on: April 05, 2015, 08:45:10 PM
Just FYI, used SSD's are on a downward spiral.
They have a limited life expectancy and older models have issues if they were used at 80% or more capacity and not properly 'realigned' every  year at least once after.
IMO not worth it.
New ones are cheap enough to buy. Much better off.

Heh, I actually tried an in-line rheostat, 25 Ohm 3-watt. It worked, but was getting extremely hot, so I stopped after a half hour.
I'll try a high-er rated one next. Maybe get us a way for manual control if necessary.
rheo stat extremely hot or s5?

The rheostat. It was too low rating for the S5's fan though, so I'm going to try an actual PWM fan controller rated much higher.

...
Interesting, I have 4 S5's in the basement and it was in the 80's last week, but the basement wasn't too bad.  I don't think the S5's heat up as much as the S3's...but I have 4 S5's compared to the 8 S3's I had in the past.  And as long as bitcoin is profitable, I'll continue to run those S5's....until the next gen comes out of course.
I have 2xS3 and 1xS5 that are still running.
The S5 runs 24/7 but the S3s are off during peak electricity cost (~50c/kWhr)
The S5 is usually blowing cool air out of it - they default the fans way higher than needed - so I had almost no problem with it during summer.
The S3s fans are slower and also warmer air coming out of course.

has anyone tried to change the fan speeds in software?
2751  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1800 TH] CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: April 04, 2015, 11:56:23 PM
Cool beans. I aimed all my rigs to this pool now. Upped my rig rental prices so unless someone pays me above average pricing for rentals, I'm all in.
Got about 12TH going now. More to come.  Cheesy

just a quick question. is it safe to power the s5 with just 1 connector per blade?

Yeah, just make sure you use the ones nearest the ethernet port  Wink

So they are like the S3's? No need for all 4 connections unless you'll overclock? Didn't know that.

Well, gotta do something while waiting for the blocks Smiley
Oh there's another one Smiley
(awaiting confirm)
Edit: confirmed

Sweet.

My 300TH still is affecting my shifts . WOW.

At least you do not distance yourself from bitchie .... you 2 are one and the same .... but like I said, if you find heatpipes difficult, leave it to those that don't. You do not have to throw in your 2 cents into any and everything all the time, mostly with your ignorance.

For starters, my suggestion was a self moded copper heatsink, and I speak WITH experience here as I have a few aluminium slab + copper fins heatsinks that I made myself. The fins were made from split copper tubes and attached to the aluminium using screws and heatpads. Whether it costs more or not, you have no way of telling and therefore are not in a position to add any value to the conversation, thus has nothing to do with you.

Millionaire at 13, went to MIT and left to work in family machine shop programming CNC's and wire EDM's bitchie dogie .....

Ugh. Nevermind. Like talking to a stone wall. I'll be the mature one and move on. Is that OK with you?

No, but if you're selling stuff you should at least check it a few times a day. Or at least once a day.  Cheesy

450 each SP20E shipped in the US Alaska and Hawaii extra..

How many you've got left?

And for a person who claims to have worked in a family machine shop, apparently programming CNC mills and wire EDM's, this has to be a walk in the park! But hey, there have also been claims of people being millionaires at 13 and I would not be surprised if the two (pathological liars) are the same person.

Seriously, that't the best you can come up with? What's next. Name calling?  Undecided

Just because it is a 'walk in the park' (Which IT IS NOT, but you'd know that, if you've EVER done anything in manufacturing) for me to go up to my family's machine shops, find a non utilized CNC mill or EDM, make/fab the right mount/block, find the right stock (material for you who don't know), setup the machinery, plan the program, enter the G-Code with conversions, test and fine tune. How many hours you THINK that takes and $$$ it costs to even prototype? Do you realize that prototyping is extremely expensive?

So if you can do this easily, I urge you to go, do it with your dremel and show it, or be quiet, move on and let people who actually know about the things we talk about / stick to valid and effective ways to improve a prouct. Obviously manufacturing is not your strong point.

Ladies and Gents... we got jinxed.   Roll Eyes
Lulz, if we hit another 358%, luck for the last 51 blocks will still be 100% Tongue
... and for those with small displays looking at the web site, you can now make the header (permanently) smaller.
If you login, to your (or any) account, under Account->User Settings there's a checkbox to use a 'mini' page header.
It's stored in a cookie (almost) forever so the setting stays unless you change it, but also is only for the browser/device you set it on.

Good job on the keeping the site updated and adding features. That's why we pay you the BIG bux!  Wink Cheesy Cheesy

I would just like to say that this is the most professional and cleanest ad I've seen on the Bitcointalk Marketplace.

Would be nice to hear from the seller though.
