Is there a real reason for wanting a refund now? Specs are not even released...

The main reason, to mine bitcoins right now? Some people sold all their Jupiters to buy Neptunes and may be getting the itch to mine again.

Just wondering why you would spend £5000 on 2 ANTMiners when you would have saved nearly £2000 buying them directly from sushi or one of the official resellers?
2763  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: January 09, 2014, 01:07:46 AM
I still can't figure out how to even get into the miner to change the code. Once I ssh into the miner, how do I download the config files to edit them? Jesus I'm a newb.

Once you have generated the /config/zzz.sh you can use winSCP from www.winscp.net to download and edit the file on your local machine if you don't fancy playing with vi in the ssh session.

But you still need to do the ssh session to start with and generate the /config/zzz.sh file this is a safety precaution so that you aren't modifying the default files on your miner and if you screw up all you need to do is reboot to get back to stock.
2764  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: January 09, 2014, 12:45:49 AM
Preorders are just a gamble really. Unless from a proven company like KNC.

After I got burned on my 15btc investment into a 4 month late Avalon unit that was it for me. You guys should give up on preorders too. It's way too risky when you only have about a 3 months window to get a ROI.

KnC were a gamble as well, and even the neptune is a gamble.
2765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 08, 2014, 07:12:57 PM
Argh, we're heading for a world where each of us is renting some massive industrial unit with its own en-suite power station. Saving up every BTC we mine just to buy the next miner that comes out in 6 months time and still only making 1 BTC a day because everyone else is doing the same thing.

Change that to 0.1 BTC per day and it sounds more realistic  Cry
2766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 07, 2014, 05:56:04 PM
Us pre-existing customers can look back at our news emails and see the windows for announcements and purchase.  I don't think a non-customer has that and don't expect a KnC customer would have a legit reason for posting it.

Huh who are you talking about?

I didn't mean you personally, I know your a cynic not an optimist Smiley

But do you have reference ot the emails? I remember some nebulous responses that didn't really say anything specific at the time.

Lol.. not a cynic, I'm an analyst. I don't have skin in the game either way, just looking at what's been presented.

The emails are in this insanely long thread, I did not save hotlinks to them, just noted them. This is why several folks keep pinging on Orama and others, because they were told the books would in fact be opened. And so far, nothing.

I believe they're waiting for a significant trigger, such as Cointerra shipping. It's not likely they'll be shipping Neptunes anytime soon, which is the only other reason they'd be silent.

Heh, sorry you do sound a little cynical. Which btw is not a critisism, one needs a good dose of cynicism in this business.

I can't find any email or reference to an email that is specific, just lots of ifs, buts and maybe's. Even Orama didn't know what was going on, just that they "talked about it" but nothing was decided other than not to make a decision till after the new year.

I just think its a bit disingeneous to say "They promised" when they didn't and were pretty specific in their wording of their communication of the fact. Lets face it they got slapped around because people weren't ready with their BTC when they sold the upgrade boards, so this time they give a bit of notice that there may be some reason to keep some BTC handy in your wallet and now they get crucified for not "delivering" on that as well.

Can't win really can they.

I believe that when they made the statement, HF et al were all like "were going to ship before EOY" etc but shortly afterwards it all went south for them, and all of them are suffering delays, so the outlook has changed form KnC's POV.

2767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 07, 2014, 04:36:05 PM
Sounds like for the "first time", they're floundering on their word. A month ago they confirmed they would in fact be selling Jupiters by now (actually, by now they should've been shipped). Now they're quiet.

Either they're releasing the Neptune much earlier than anticipated, like next month, or they're simply going to ignore their word.

Actually they said:

As it looks like our struggling competition may eventually ship before our Network protection period has finished, we may be in a position to release Jupiter’s and possibly upgrade cards which we will ship from stock.

If we do have more items to place in the shop for our 28nm range, we will announce this via one of our newsletters which will contain the time and date that they will go on sale. So keep some coins handy as we expect them to go quick.

Emphasized slightly for those that are of an optimistic disposition Smiley

Except in email response to particular KNC thirsty members here, they did confirm they would be opening the order books. After this post. I'm not exactly optomistic, I'm not buying anything from them.

As to the recent hashpower... Cointerra testing equipment? 2nd week of January is when they should've had systems hitting the assembly line for a test run-through.

People are still buying BFL's vastly overpriced "in stock" garbage unfortunately.

I didn't mean you personally, I know your a cynic not an optimist Smiley

But do you have reference ot the emails? I remember some nebulous responses that didn't really say anything specific at the time.

But remember the timeline for this, they announced on the 14th that Neptune batch had sold out and that they might release some Jupiters if their competition delivered. Then there was exactly a week before they closed down for Christmas/New Year, and they've only been back at work since Monday.

What Dimension do we talk about here ?? How big/smal is this fan ??

20cmx20cm ?? 30cmx30cm ?? Biger ??

Just by looking at those Pictures it's hard to tell what the dimensions are from that case.

Im guessing that is a 140mm fan, if for no other reason than Ive never seen a fan of that shape in other sizes.
Again, design looks quite sleek and sensible. Its nice of BA to use as big (and therefore silent) fan as possible, even though Im sure it would cost more than a noisy, higher rpm 80mm fan.

Looks like a Antec Big Boy 20cm fan http://store.antec.com/Product/cooling-cooling_fan/big-boy-200/0-761345-75200-8.aspx

So to answer the earlier guys question if 211 is: cmd=$(printf "0x86,0x%02X,0x02,0x11" $c)

Would 231 be?: cmd=$(printf "0x86,0x%02X,0x02,0x31" $c)

Hi,
We recently released new offer - Neptune second batch for the special price 9,995.00 USD.
The second batch is expected to start shipping in Q2 of 2014, in about one month after first batch is shipped.
We don't have any other miners for sale at this moment.
There are limited number of units will be sold and as usual only fully paid orders are accepted to reserve your unit and enter the queue.
Best regards
Med vänlig hälsning

Guess there wont be any jupiters for sale after all, or did i get this e-mail answer wrong ?

Guess the network will remain protected from us.

The wording of the NPP is very careful, they talk about "our competitors" I don't think they conisder anyone selling anything less than a 28nm 400Gh/s unit as a competitor really. So they really mean Hashfast, Cointerra, Black Arrow and Bitmine.ch

So unless those guys actually start shipping their batches in significant numbers then I don't think we will see more KnC hardware coming out the warehouse.

Also, the closer they get to neptune launch the less likely they are to release the 28nm product.

Of course that may change very fast if One of the big 4 potential competitors actually starts shipping. Although I don't think any of them are going to until the end of Jan/early Feb
2773  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Asic vendor review (WIP) on: January 07, 2014, 02:24:02 PM
I wouldn't really say Bitmain are better than KnC, I'd give them both 4.5 really.
2774  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: January 07, 2014, 02:15:34 PM
Historically, no Asic company has raised prices, even with products in hand.  It's highly doubtful that the price will ever go up, since the return continuously goes down (even more so after shipping a crap ton of new hash to the network).

Are you sure?
The only company that never raised price was Asicminer.

Bitfury raised their prices as well for some mad reason. Probably because they knew they had XXX number of people with semi populated kits that need the extra blades.

any customer here on december batch?

When will they start deliver the december batch?

There was a 3 week delay in the delivery of the chips http://bitmine.ch/?p=4192

I guess that puts them somewhere in the last week of January for the December batch

Interesting, I went to the store site and attempted to log in. It says i don't have an account although i have invoice in my e-mail dated 24/09/2013. I guess i'll just have to wait and see what happens. This is probably due to the website changing since the early orders.
If your order was placed before the new website, you need to log on to the old one here:
http://archive.minersource.net
I have the order confirmation email (dated 10/23/2013), but my account on the old site says I have placed no orders. Anyone know what's up with that? Will send out PMs as well.
I don't think this belons to BA. It seems to be another crap scam! No contact details, all hidden, only empty words and few stolen images...

Actually minersource are the official US distributor. Check their news archive. http://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/store/index.php?dispatch=news.list

What's the worst that can happen?
Some dude will mine with your equipment for a few hours, maybe a day?

Until they plant something on your equipment to give them further access to your network. Or worse.

Only if your miner is placed on the open internet or the cgminer ports are DNAT mapped in and out through your router to the internet.

I have a question on the coincraft-rig units...

The PSU is included, and specs "estimate", about 1600-3000w with the "included PSU"... For the fully-filled 8-card unit.

3000w in turbo, obviously, but does this unit come with a 3000w PSU, or does each of the eight boards have an individual mini-psu, delivering the 200w-375w required for turbo-mode?

This, too, I assume has two separate plugs for 120v operation, as 3000w can not come from 1 single 20a cord. Which can only handle 18a constant power, as with most home circuits. (120v * 18a = 2160w constant. However, 240v * 18a = 4320w, which would work for non-US power-outlets/wires.)

I'd say, and this is my take on it using logic:

1. Rig is a rackmount 4U unit designed for being rackmounted in a datcenter with adequate power and cooling
2. Desk product is designed for home use
3. Higher output devices designed for 240V operation only

 Huh

Thats not logic & not correct - the miner has to look after it based on his individual situation! If you operate other devices on same cable what need a lot of energy too a desk unit could be even too much & your home burn down. Normally you need to have on a dedicated line 16A (heard a few just have 13A) - 240V. There you can let run 1 full machine & I think in one machine are 2x 1500W PSU or so (if you want to prepare so best is to make 2 EURO-SCHUKO-plugs on 1 dedicated line 16A). If you have other voltage your electrican know how to fix it to change to 240V.

LOL you're funny
