2761  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 23, 2014, 08:57:05 PM
As you say, ASICMINER isn't selling mining machines directly. Most of us are invested in ASICMINER because we want in on the profits from chip sales and franchising. The mining income at this point is going to be dwarfed by the income from those other two sources, and that's fine by me. Comparing Spondoolies and ASICMINER seems like an apples-and-oranges comparison to me.

Yes franchising underpreforming ASICs is the right way to profit from chip sales.

Since spondoolies + fanboys are all here I thought I'd ask, have any of you even come close to ROI on your $4/gh miners?

Must be painful to see asicminer machines shipping now as low as $1/gh especially if you paid $1/gh to preorder the sp30 which will be delivered in months.

First of all asicminer isn't shipping anything. They are selling chips to third-party. Secondly I still haven't seen any of these miners in the wild while my SP10 miner is working hard to make me happy. Thirdly I'm hashing with 1.5Th/s in a small 1.25U box. How much space/cables/PSU/etc is needed for asicminer machines to reach 1.5Th/s?(not to mention the power consumption)

You do realize the 1.25u case is a gimmick? It is impossible to cool 1kw/1u so you need to spread them out. That means both the 1.25u sp10's and the (3u?) hashratio machines both take up the same space.

But for those wanting a machine that sounds like a chainsaw, SP10 wins hands down.

Gimmick for what? Here is a picture with 4 stacked with no problem(thank you tzortz):

3U is the final case for the hashratio's miners? Show me a video of one running in a miner's farm.

When will you guys lower the price? Entire competition is below $1.65/gh shipped. (Ignoring hashratio/bitmain $1/gh)

Hashratio isn't $1/GH. Be fair. Hashratio is $1.38/GH and also 1.13W/GH. I'm still waiting to see who buys a miner which requires 9kW and how many miners will own that big monstrosity. Reminds me a bit of BFL's MiniRig. Only a couple of people actually owned it (actually I don't think anyone outside of BFL's circle had one but I may be wrong).
2763  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 23, 2014, 08:32:31 PM

I have a quote of $400 for a half cabinet (21U) + $15/amp. If each SP30 is about 15 amps at 208v then it should come out to $225 per SP30 + $400 fixed cost.

Is that viaWest? so basically around the same cost.

It's not the same cost. Well the power cost is nice, but we also have to pay for a half cabinet while using only part of it. During the last weeks I've sent a lot of e-mail to a lot of datacenters in Europe and no datacenter is ready for bitcoin miners colocation. We need a datacenter which can supply a lot of power for small boxes. Paying for a 21U cabinet to use just a part of it is wasting money.

Rockxie claimed that AM's ASIC does 11.52 GH/s using 0.72V and consumes 0.554 J/Gh.

http://blog.rockminer.com/#!/2014/04/13/Testing_Results_Of_BE200.md

You are giving too much credit to a single ASIC test board measurement, which was probably done to ease the pressure from the shareholders. The chip can have 0.1J/Gh in a test environment, but as a miner I care about how much power is my miner sucking from the power outlet and it seems that all AM gen3 miners need at least 1.1W/GH (~1.1J/Gh/s to be correct). My Oct/Nov Jupiters are having that power consumption and I mined a lot of coins up until now. Even I know now that chips can be slow-slow, fast-fast etc and I'm not a tech guy. It's obvious that the average chips perform much worse than what was shown more than 1 month ago. Even the blog post has "Tips:this result is not very accurate just for reference." at the end so I wouldn't take that as granted.

Ken if for some odd reason you have BTC in Bitstamp please remove them today. There are signs that they are potentially going through the same stuff Gox did and we all know how that ended. I wouldn't understand why you'd have coins in another exchange after you've consistently lost coins but if you do for the sake of the company please remove them now. This may all be rumors or someone trolling due to Bitstamps conduct over the last couple of days but either way as a shareholder i'd rather you have our coins in a safe place instead of another exchange.

Bitstamp is fine. I see nothing wrong in a small KYC considering that this is an unregulated market. But yes keeping a lot of money on any exchange is just stupid, but the failure of the exchange is just one of the many reasons why you shouldn't do it. It costed this company more than 400BTC to find that out so I am sure that ken won't do the same mistake twice!

AM3 can't compete on 28nm, since it's "custom design"

Could you elaborate a little bit? How is this different from your own custom implementation of SHA256?

Unlike BitFury and AM, we didn't use custom circuit design (with custom PDK) in our 1st and 2nd gen.
It's a time consuming effort, that needed to be redone from the beginning when moving to a more advance process node.

We're doing that with our 3rd gen and we understand the effort. I don't believe AM can produce a competitive 28nm in time.
BitFury on the other hand will probably do.

Sounding like you're throwing down the gauntlet to FC by posting this in his backyard.

I was asked a question and I answered. I'll stop posting here now.

Just googled the following: http://bwrcs.eecs.berkeley.edu/Classes/icdesign/ee241_s13/Assignments/lab3-stdcell.pdf

(Our 1st and 2nd gen are 100% standard cells)

Facts are facts. The future; well if you knew that with absolute certainty you wouldn't bother spending time building ASICs.  Grin

If he enjoys it then why not?

It's over guys.

It's just not Ken's cup of tea anymore. Let's just admit we put money on the wrong/dead horse and move on .Ken tried what he could but his incompetence , lies ,deceit and lack of respect for shareholder's money will not and should not go unpunished. Many lawsuits will be awaiting him soon.

I have been following this thread for over a year and it has been nothing but agony .Not a single good  sign or news or intent came out only excuses and incompetence .Sure we are hashing at 100th/s now  but even a 12 year old kid could have done that by hiring outside help with the amount of bitcoins given to him.

Ken just does not know how to run a business or to delegate. He should have realized how his actions effect other people's lives. He just mercilessly kslaughtered us.I sympathize with everyone who lost money.

The good thing is there is still plenty of money to be made in other avenues of crypto world. We are still in very initial stages of this boom so take this awful experience as hard earned lesson and use it to make better decisions and smarter future investments .

best of luck to all especially Ken.

Goodbye.

I have been saying that this is a dead horse right from the start. Nobody understood why. After all the deleted posts and after the original thread being locked I'm happy that people start realizing what a mess this company is.

Even if this will be deleted too I am watching wreck while smiling. It only took one year to have some good evidence that I was right but I win!
2769  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: btcgarden-AM-v1 miner is coming! on: May 23, 2014, 05:12:35 PM
Cool, when are these available?  It says sold out on the BTCGarden website.

Are you the official forum spokesperson here for sales?  Would you do escrow for units?

Thanks,

Chuck

It's the official ID of btcgarden.

The miner will be delivered early next month.

We don't support escrow now, we want to find partners around world.

Thanks for the response!

Do you have any 1 TH/s miners in the pipeline coming soon?  Seems like it's a little too late for these blade type miners with all the Antminer S1s in circulation already.

Yes,we have the plan to produce 1TH/S miners, need some time to development.

So that you can compete with the S2 that is in circulation already?
2770  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} WHAT THE:!( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till JUNE or JULY:( on: May 23, 2014, 04:37:22 PM
I see it as clearly as the 6283 individuals that filed complaints with PayPal and the FTC. I see it as clearly as many of those who have joined the class action lawsuits against BFL. I see it as clearly as I need to see it and that has nothing to do with any other companies or cooperatives trying to put product out.

Again the simple facts BFL is not to be trusted. Do not buy BFL. Simple.
Those numbers don't mean a lot without the total picture (6283 out of how many? Anyone can file lawsuits, it's the ruling that matters. Innocent till proven guilty and all that...)

For me it's even simpler:
1. Never, EVER, pre-order; and,
2. The best product (again: on the market) gets bought (in this case best :$/Gh/W) eventually...

PS. and still curious to see this final product... eventually...  Wink

I just saw this post. Getting a lot of un-informed people to order your product which was advertised on lies doesn't seem so hard with good marketing. What is really hard is getting them to order again from you after they see the real deal of BFL. 6283 out of ~45k may not look like much, even if 15% is a significant number of people any way you look at it, but please tell me what's the return rate of BFL customers. I am sure that it's less than 10% and that tells everything about how his scamming business works. It's just based on deceiving new customers!

Where can I find the setup guide? Is there a guide for overclocking as well?

2772  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} WHAT THE:!( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till JUNE or JULY:( on: May 23, 2014, 04:06:00 PM
I don't see it that way, and neither should you...

How is your WASP project coming along for that matter? You've been busy with that for half a year now and got 1 testing rig... You off all people should understand the difficulty and complexity that goes into product development.

Yes, maybe they should have done some things (mainly in communication) differently in the past. But still... There's not a lot of people out there really doing this product development so maybe, just maybe, we should be a bit more patient with them before hanging them out to dry (yes, three times, I know)....

Are you comparing taking money for pre-orders for some unreal delivery dates with a self-funded project who never took pre-order money? Really? This is the best that you managed to spit out?

I can't figure if you are just a clone of retard Inaba or shill bcp.

Please explain to the rest of us how is the Single more efficiently than the rest of the chips.
You take the power usage (at the wall) and divide it though the number of GH's mining so you get a ratio and the Single performs best (from the four miners I('ve been) use(-ing).

Simple really...

Ok. How much power does a Single use? What is the hashrate of the Single?
2774  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: May 23, 2014, 02:00:16 PM
hmmm, i was unaware of this one, isn't that technically worth between 24-12 petahashes of power? wouldn't that kinda break bitcoin if they were all brought online at the same time? over the 50% mark right?

We are hashing at ~73PH right now so the answer to your question is no.
He wanted to be quoted with that huge post to further derail the discussion. "break bitcoin", yeah.

Anyway, Difficulty: +17%; Price: +16%. Let's hope the latter to hold.

It seems that every manufacturer needs it's own troll/hater. BFL has bcp19, HashFail has armyof1ne. (KnC had Avenger back last year. this year he is legit)

Well, that's not my experience...

I waited to order the BFL Single's till they were "in stock" and I must say that the chips are superior to any other I use(-d, and I [have] use [-d] Antminer U1's, Technobit HEX16's, BFL Single's and Antminer S1's). They simply hash away more steady (less fluctuations in Hashrate), more power effective (although I really don't care because of my "all-in-office-rent") and more efficiently (less power hungry and less heat dissipation).

Please explain to the rest of us how is the Single more efficiently than the rest of the chips.

No. If you give the client 5% coupon , it must to be valid.

Hold on! Don't heat up. Things move fast in Bitcoin world and if you received a 5% coupon it will be available no matter what.

Just send an e-mail to sales@ and you will have a new coupon and new product to order in a matter of minutes!

Thanks to worry about me.  If the company does not want to get money, get the others.
I received yesterday  3 discount coupon  from a friend and I bought S2 antminers.

Them is no problem of high custom duty, or noise.

Enjoy your miners then Smiley

Since I never had a sig until now I always forget about it. Done.

1.95t/h, I have another one like this with one 6 boards going, waiting on other beaglebone, since knc has been fucking me around for a week waiting to rma it, I said fuck it yesterday and ordered a beaglebone black for it, since the bottom part works.

Nice way to hold those radiators down.

When ambient is at an acceptable temperature, you just need ventilation. It doesn't matter how much heat you put into the air if you can simply substitute that air with ambient temp air.

You think if even is +40C?
Yep.

It doesn't matter how fast you wee into a cup, if I keep replacing your cup with an empty cup, you'll never fill it.

not quite a correct analogy.

Ventilation does not prevent turbulence. Air can be travel inefficiently that hot air got suck back into the miner .
You need to build a ducting system right at the rack. Thats the only way to control direction of air. Remember folks, you need ventilation and air direction control to be effective.

You don't if you have floor to ceiling double ended ventilation. Ie a door on one side and a door on the other....

Right, you expect the room layout to work with you. Stop making empty suggestion like this pls.

Build a ducting system from the rack to wherever the vent is.

Or, or, or, maybe this... don't put a mining farm in a room ill equipped for mining.

I choose my flats almost solely based on their suitability to mining and cooling. Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance!

The 6 Ps!
