2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think 100% pre-mine coins are good?? on: April 17, 2014, 11:52:32 AM
Premine can work as long as the public has confidence in the distribution.
NEM for instance has 3000 stakeholders.  Taint analysis was used to remove hundreds of sockpuppets and the large scale diminishes any return from sockpuppets.

In contrast - you can have something like NxT (100% premine) which only had 73 stakeholders, of which 20 owned the majority, bought all the NxT for 21 BTC.  Probably most of these 20 big stakeholders were sockpuppets since there was no taint analysis used and it was such an obscure IPO that it was likely the same people signing up multiple stakes.

We'll have to wait and see about NXTL.  I have reserved a stake (after seeing Jagaur had reserved one) but it could very well be an IPO scam.  There's a strong correlation between bad english and IPO scams on this forum.  Skillroad, a Russian, might be active but most of the other developers don't have accounts on this  forum and and the only one who does Mleekko hasn't logged in since mid-March.

I also have a stake in NXTL but only because I found it before I found NEM Smiley
I don't think it's a scam. Most of the peole got in without paying and the ones that did pay payed after they saw an at least remotely working client. If you wan't to scam people you can have that easier Smiley

It may had been someone else than Jagaur, I just remember browsing through names and posts here and uncovering it.

Back to NEM now.  Grin

2764  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT is the only decent coin? on: April 17, 2014, 10:25:24 AM

After seeing a lot of gen 2 scams I'm convinced NXT is the only decent coin out there. Right?

It's the only one with a thriving technical ecosystem, and it's become the standard by which others are based on. (Eg, forks.) Maybe NXT will become the reserve currency of the 2.0 world.

That's not how these things work.  There's no mechanism to make NxT the reserve of 2.0.  NxT, outside of Dgex and BTER, has very few exchanges and it's never been used in a reserve capacity.  When people come to the crypto world - they buy Bitcoin and exchange it for other coins.
2765  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT is the only decent coin? on: April 17, 2014, 10:23:14 AM
NxT was a scam.  It had terrible distribution (73 unique wallets.  20 owned the majority.  A lot of the 73 were likely sockpuppets, too - considering the small population).

BCNext, the developer of NxT, released a half completed code and then sold all his stake and fled without ever returning in November.
NxT used to be $90+ million until these facts were well known and understood by the public.

IMHO - wait for NEM and NXTL.

73 weeks behind updating Bitcoin wallet but I'll send funds out when possible.  I would use Mintpal but I don't know if that's allowed nor do I know how to attain records for it since it sends out coins through their wallet.

Can we relate this to Mark Karpeles?!
2768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: April 16, 2014, 01:54:27 PM
I  don't think there is anything unique about Blackcoin - it's a Bitclone with PoS (old mechanism) and poor distribution (top 100 wallets control more than 53%.  Wallets =/= unique people) and some rhetorical improvements ("faster than Bitcoin, blah blah")

It's currently the pump and dump.  Looking back 90 days the PnD used to be mintcoin and vertcoin.

When i posted one hour before it was at 37k now 55k
When i posted the first time in this thread it was at 8000 satoshi
When i bought my first BC it was at 1250 satoshi
So you can talk if u want i buy buy buy!!!

And i will quote myself at 100 000! BLAAACKKK COIIINNNNNNNNNN

I will quote you!!!!!!

17800 atm!

PS: sorry couldn't resist after the big letters

Hey it was almost ! 94 000!
But it's not over!

I was just needling! Saw that it took a significant hit. What happend?

It was a pump and dump based on news of multipool.  90 days ago the pump of the month was Mint and Vert.

BC was a bitclone with faster transactions, pos and novelty products - maybe better than BTC but not much different from the 200+ Bitclones.

IMHO, I would stick to generation 2.0 coins

The "hard drive got fried" excuse, been hearing that one for over 20 years.

2771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 16, 2014, 01:16:12 AM
Bitclone err Blackcoin brought nothing new, ripped off PoS and was a reskin of the Bitcoin wallet.
2772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CommunityCoin falling rapidly ** dev debunked ** breaking news GET OUT on: April 16, 2014, 01:10:53 AM
Wasn't NEM the first 'community coin' and then people decided to copy its' IPO and distribution?
NEM hasn't released yet, though.  Long development but it takes time to release something which isn't a Bitclone.

I'm curious, how do the NEM developers collaborate? If this helps, I found some online development environments where the team can chat and edit the same code in realtime.
Cloud9 IDE https://c9.io
Codenvy https://codenvy.com
Compilr https://compilr.com
Koding https://koding.com

We're mostly collaborating through trello and bitbucket.

Where on bitbucket?

are there any thoughts on making NEM a POS coin with a multipool - like Blackcoin and Faircoin. Those two coins have really led the way in (relatively) stable (non-pump-and-dump) value creation for investors.

NEM is not going to be PoS.
The multipool thing has come up. I don't think there are any solid plans though.

Blackcoin users did research and the MP had little to do with its' pump / boom.  BC's boom was no different than Vert and Mint 90 days ago.  Each time there's a recession / bear some random coin gets pumped and then dumped.

2776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 15, 2014, 06:48:58 PM
Sell your house, mortgage as much as possible, borrpw from loan sharks.

Put it on blackcoin you'll be a billionaire!

Blackcoin going down.  5 million by end of the week.

2778  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Facebook prepping for e-money service, close to getting approval in Ireland on: April 15, 2014, 02:04:11 PM
Everyone is hopping on the Ripple bandwagon and they'll likely make the same mistakes (premining 98%+)
2779  Other / Politics & Society / Re: FBI to have 52 million photos in its NGI face recognition database by next year on: April 15, 2014, 02:03:02 PM
Old news - a lot of police departments have archived Facebook and used those photos to identify people on cctv caught committing crimes.
2780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 15, 2014, 01:37:15 PM
It was pumpers reacting to multipool which made it go boom, not mining $hitclobes to buy another $hitclone

I give it a week for you gerbils to realize this was a pump and dump.  Now you can join the club with mint and vert.
