2761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what happens to bitcoin if the electricity and internet goes out.? on: October 26, 2022, 12:56:50 PM
I'm a newbie in bitcoin, and I want to ask everyone, what happens to bitcoin if the electricity and internet in this world goes out? whether bitcoin buying and selling transactions are still running or not?

if that were to happen, the world would be left without electricity and the internet, how do you think other things would work? 2Banks for example? all monetary transactions are made over the Internet. at that point, money would probably no longer have any value, many things would change.
So, any loss because of holding value in bitcoin would be insignificant.
2762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posting on: October 26, 2022, 10:59:01 AM
The idea is that  pictures uploaded by other users have the same size as mine. It means that the problems lies not in the sizing.

maybe you should still write the whole procedure, what exactly you do when you try to put an image in a post.
What is image size in MB? Do you try properly to use third-party services for uploading images, like imgur.com used by example from your first post?
2763  Economy / Services / Re: I am looking for a person from Nigeria to help with small payment fee on: October 26, 2022, 10:22:26 AM
Hello everyone!

I am looking for a person from Nigeria (possibly someone with a bank account / bank card there) who will pay a small fee (around $12).
Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay this fee from outside.

I would suggest you go to the local Nigeria thread. quite an active community, and there you will find several members with a good reputation here. you will surely find adequate answers to your requests.

And yes, using escrow is certainly a good condition for safe trade.
2764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mining ban in Europe on: October 25, 2022, 11:05:39 PM
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2022/10/18/eu-countries-must-be-ready-to-block-crypto-mining-commission-says/
EU Countries Must Be Ready to Block Crypto Mining, Commission Says
"The European Union's executive arm also wants blockchains to show energy-efficiency labels and to end crypto tax breaks.
Europe represents 10% of global proof-of-work mining"

Can this affect the price of bitcoin or is this another anti-mining statement?

There will be definitely impact on the bitcoin price if it happens in reality. However, that will be temporary for sure! who have already invested millions of euros to setup their mining operations, they will simply move out of Europe and set up in a crypto friendly nation. It's very similar to what happened in China.

So I think a temporary impact will be seen in the market if the EU decides to go ahead with the ban but we should be able to come back on track within a short period of time.

I would rather say that the reason for this energy-efficiency "concern" is the current energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. shortages of gas and oil certainly raise the need for electrical energy.
ideas about saving energy are being encouraged more and more, decorative lighting is being turned off, and sometimes even street lighting. of course, bitcoin mining, which is always labelled as a big energy consumer can't be ignored when is a discussion about energy saving.

Who is a Certified CryptoCurrency Security Standard Auditor? A CCSSA understands the CryptoCurrency Security Standard thoroughly and is able to use it to measure the security of cryptocurrency keys used by an information system. They are authorized to perform CCSS audits of their clients and certify their compliance with the CCSS
https://cryptoconsortium.org/certifications/

but who is authorized to give them a certificate that they are the official for giving certificates to other persons? I mean, where is the beginning?

In my country, there are two companies which are responsible for the certification and testing of goods. Every year, company A certifies company B in order to become accredited for that. a little later, Company B issues a certificate to Company A and so they go round and round every year. But they were initially approved by the state administration.
2766  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FinchPay - service to buy & sell crypto on the fly on: October 25, 2022, 08:52:59 PM
it seems that your platform is not finished yet, you need to make additional corrections. For example, limit the displayed bitcoin amount to only 8 decimal places (now 16).
I would like to see that you are connected, therefore checked by a third-party service in which we have a little more confidence. Best Change for example. Trust pilot feedback is not so reliable, it can be easily faked. especially if there are only 14 reviews.

where we can see the fee structure, I see that the percentage changes depending on the amount of exchange.
2767  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of fake Coinmarketcap! on: October 25, 2022, 08:31:27 PM
I would rename the subject to "Beware of any fake website!". unfortunately, phishing is so common, it is very difficult to fight against it.
it certainly doesn't help when Google accepts such dubious sites, in addition to their fake fight and crypto ban in their ad space

What exact keyword do you use? I tried a few keywords with the market cap but didn't show any ads on Google.
It seems that they targeting US users.

I don't see any similar ads either.
Although the Chrome SEO plugin helps me, gives me certain metrics for sites, so all my results are numbered. I rarely even see sponsored search results at all.

2768  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it important to have a niche in this forum or not on: October 25, 2022, 12:12:57 PM
Apart from the beginners& help section, is there any other board or childboard you could recommend for a newbie?

If someone is Newbie on this forum, it does not mean that he is completely ignorant. forum rank only shows the length of presence on this forum, and every newbie should first start from his interests and what he knows best until he gets to know the forum.
Any board or child board is fine for Newbies, as long as they participate in the discussion on the topic.
2769  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Phishing/Scam website on: October 25, 2022, 11:58:31 AM
what kind of referral program is there, does it exist in the official version? I saw on his topic that they share his referral code.

On his website, all download wallet links (Linux, Windows and macOS) lead to the same file, windows.exe.
Also, I checked it on virus total where they find suspicious things on file. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/a65a5f02807f23992828bb8eb6b62b76ad147faef6094afa703d6565a08be84e/detection

I will definitely tag him in red.

Casino Critique, can we get any kind of information about what is happening with this idea? The IBCO is cancelled and after all "reputation" drama.
there are no updates on the site, also on social media, you are completely inactive.
I hope you haven't given up on everything.
2771  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN][In Merit] Post Count Down To Your Next Rank Here. on: October 25, 2022, 09:04:58 AM
My Countdown to Full Member Rank is 50 merit left

My Countdown to  member Rank
Number of Merit(s) left: 7?

My Countdown to Full member Rank
Number of Merit(s) left: 85?
The amount of merits you need to enter another rank is kind of much, I checked your post history I will advice you to improve on your post quality, I will be giving you 2 merits to serve as encouragement.

My Countdown to Senior Rank
Number of Merit(s) left: 47

Still have a long way to go but I have my fingers crossed that this can be achieved and it has to start from somewhere, Goodluck to all.
You also know you are having a long way to go, 47 merits is still kind of much, but don't give up, just keep on making positive impact on the forum and you will definitely go higher than senior member rank, I don't really have much smerit left but am sure the 5 merits which I will be giving you will have a long way to go.

I understand this is a [FUN][In Merit] topic, with an emphasis on FUN, but this seems more like begging for merit and that can only be counterproductive. I honestly don't see any significant improvement in your writing posts and it's really hard to find a post that really deserves merit.
I would agree with Issa56 here.
if you really want to earn merit, give us real reasons and not just a countdown.
2772  Economy / Lending / Re: Want 300$ BTC Give 330$ BTC in 7 days on: October 25, 2022, 07:47:32 AM
As if we should trust the OP.

He is one of those who believes he has discovered a "winning" strategy in casino games that is older than Methuselah: the Martingale.

I find way to win on dice

With a quick look at his post history, we see other "strategies" and accusations of scam casinos, so he is most likely a gambling addict, someone impulsive, that if he is willing to pay 10% interest in 5 days, there is a high risk that he will not pay it back. How much is 10% in 5 days in APR? 1500% or more?

I find it much more interesting that he won't open his PC for betting under $300, while at the same time he doesn't have those $300 and is trying to borrow them here.
winning strategies, a lot of money taken from the casino, and still stuck at 300.

I have been winning a lot in sportbook lately and they limit my bets for 70$ max on sport booking.  Only because I figured out how to win the system.
This is ridiculous. Bellow 300$ for bet I don't open my pc.
2773  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is it Wrong for BTT user to ask for Donation as a Flood Victim? on: October 24, 2022, 12:10:17 PM
So as a flood victim in the forum, I am asking to know if it is wrong to ask for the support from the forum users. Or will the community go against if I asked for the support from the community in this situation? I am asking because I am deeply affected by the flood. I have lost properties, though I raised up  some of the properties because there was no vehicle movement to pack the things so I left them there, and lodged in a hotel and since no one was around in the compound, arm robbers came in and stole my valuable properties. As it is I am out of funds.

of course, it's fine if you're looking for support here on the forum. Community means sticking together when trouble happens. the problem is that good intention to help someone are often misused, so a good part of the members have become a little distrustful when it comes to donations.

I would suggest you, considering you are from Nigeria and as far as I can see, your local is quite active with several established members, you should start from there. Invite some other members from there to action, so try it together.
You must be transparent with all of the donated money.

Fuel that was sold at the rate of $0.39 per litre is now $1.9 and fuel price determine any other goods prices in the country.

OMG, $39/l Shocked
To be honest, in Europe the price of fuel has been $2 or more for a long time.
2774  Economy / Reputation / Re: About My Red Trust (Remove Request) on: October 24, 2022, 11:48:44 AM
Do you think the red feedback left by JollyGood, Lauda are actually justified?

Lauda has done a lot in terms of suppressing spam (and scam) on this forum, it certainly cannot be ignored. as far as I remember, for some time I removed her from my trust list almost on a monthly basis, only to add her again after a while. in the end, she took tagging on the forum too personally, so she cast a shadow over all the previous good she had done.
About Jollygood, it reminds me a lot of Lauda's behaviour if we talk about regularity and too easy giving a red tag. (the mystery is why they are afraid to leave neutral feedback)
all experienced members already know that his feedback can be harsh, so I believe that most of them take them with a grain of salt. Although it is opposed to the trust system, because it should facilitate user recognition, and if the additional experience is needed to understand it then its power decreases.

Against JollyGood this is not the first complaint but not going to the last one too.

It seems to me that I have seen JG change his feedback more often after a complaint than Lauda did.

My apologies for not replying earlier, I had you on my ignore list and skipped past the thread. When I did read it I decided to not comment straight away until I had ample time.
..

I'm glad you've come here, I guess the mentions helped you hear this discussion in spite of your ignoring OP. I would suggest that you consider the possibility of using neutral tags, not everything can be either black or white.
maybe you can use something like [Script] BitcoinTalk User Notes. That way you will have additional information about users, and you will not burden others with it. To be honest, nobody cares who is on your (or anyone's) ignore list, there is no need to inform us about it on the user's trust page.
2775  Other / Meta / Re: Will mods/admins approve of this? on: October 24, 2022, 10:26:27 AM
The only question now is whether mods/admin will regard this as proof that both accounts are owned by the same user.
If they agree, I can lock this thread and start a new one where the reporting will take place.
This, I believe, will also benefit the forum in some ways.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any suggestions?

Certainly, Twitter ID is the best solution for monitoring the activity of an account on Twitter. but trading twitter accounts are much more common than trading forum accounts, and a suspicious user can always refer to the fact that he bought a TW account and does not know its previous history. and you can't blame anyone for that.

your proposal makes sense but requires a lot of extra work and I think it is not sustainable. I would say that the managers should take responsibility for that, (mainly those who run shit token campaigns) because they are the ones who accept the low-level quality of participants. it would be in their interest to filter the participants, but they don't seem to care much about the quality of the campaign. with rare exceptions.
2776  Economy / Services / Re: 20k+ stolen BTC bounty (30% as of post) on: October 24, 2022, 08:41:07 AM
As the domain is registered on NameSilo, why not reach out to them with your case? Maybe they might help you with the information you need to get the site owner.

I don't think that means much. You can use Namesilo to be anonymous, they do not require mandatory KYC. Also, they accept bitcoin payments, so it is possible to be anonymous from that side as well.

unfortunately, I think that there are very few or no elements here on the basis of which something can be done. maybe only through that person through Tinder, but I believe that all information about him is fake.
OP, you acted very naively and trusted a person you have never met in person. Otherwise, this is a very common scam method, and very famous, even though there are always new victims.

is it so difficult to read this thread a bit? Just a few last pages are enough.

Hey this is Alex from Livetree!  Grin

For everyone interested in the Livetree launch and have a few questions we're holding a Livestream tonight 20/10/22 at 18:00 BTS.

We'll be showcasing the Livetree App Demo and hosting an AMA.

You can join via zoom using this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84197539492?pwd=RG9iTU95WkFFMnBSckJjM2NWK0JlZz09

or on Twitter Spaces, though that will be audio only. For Twitter spaces use this link https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1mnxeRbqPAAKX

See you there 💥

Do you have a written summary somewhere of the current process and what is happening with the whole project?
Some of us have no time to catch info through Twitter space. It is okay as a communication channel, but it can't be primary. I would like to be informed, but that all questions are combined in one place and that I don't have to hunt for admins on Telegram, Twitter, or zoom ...
2779  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalCryptos is shutting down on: October 23, 2022, 10:38:46 PM
This is what they said, but I think it's more of a regulatory issue than the bear market. Being that they are located in Australia, whose Government can sometimes get cocky when it comes to regulations
LocalCryptos has made the tough decision to voluntarily wind down for multiple reasons. Among the reasons include personal health matters impacting the development and progression of the marketplace, an anticipated downtrend in cryptocurrency markets, as well as challenging developments in the long-term regulatory trajectory amidst the global evolution of the crypto economy.

If it's true, it would be a shame since they could relocate to country with better regulation.

It was always unclear to me why some good services just shut down. in addition to changing the country of business, maybe they could sell the whole business to some company that is already in the industry.
although I would say that this is a forced move because just a few months ago they were hiring new developers https://jobs.gohire.io/localcryptos-ddlp8az9/react-native-mobile-app-developer-63702/
2780  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I know about Bitcoin on: October 23, 2022, 10:27:56 PM
I came across Bitcoin on Facebook ads but Ido about it
until a friend of mine who knows about cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) agreed to teach me everything about Bitcoin and how to trade and have my own wallet.

He  taught me Bitcoin as digital currency or online cash that is used for buying products and services and so on.
Bitcoin has been existing since 2009 but I was not aware of it untill 2021.I was having no money to invest after my friend taught me about Bitcoin time and also I was not having a concrete knowledge on it so in the month of May 2022. He has been teaching me. I have gotten small knowledge on it and now I have my own Bitcoin  Wallet.

nice that you shared this useful story with us, although you still need to study. Certainly getting to know about the wallet is a good first step.

it's good to have someone who will explain some ambiguities and help you master the material but I would suggest you do more research on your own and read the experiences of others (this forum is a great start for that). it's about your money and you shouldn't trust anyone. I'm telling you based on personal negative experience when you trust a person and not a process.
