Why is it that everyone who supports segwit has to be a condescending asshole all the time?

It just seems like that because the wise-asses from the classic pump machine are asking deliberately misleading (seemingly simple) questions designed to confuse and misinform the unknowledgeable reader. So the responses can seem like condescension but it's just because if they ask deliberately 3-yo level half-truths disguised as questions they get 3-yo level answers.

... or you could go read the code instead of being an annoying doofus?

It's been running on sidechain elements alpha for over a year already, open source, ain't it great for educating idiots huh?
. so the first question is: Why should we change existing bitcoin architecture to twin-block architecture, and what is the pros and cons of doing that?

.... There are no good reasons that can explain why you should change the architecture to implement a useless function like fixing the transaction malleability (unconfirmed transactions are not safe, this is a limitation of POW, it has nothing to do with transaction malleability). ... (snipped all the trolltalk and misinformation)

... it is not a change in 'architecture' just some data structure. You're getting well outside your comfort level of expertise clearly.

Of course upgrading to anything is easy, you just need to download the software and run it, just like you download any virus or trojan, a couple of mouse click then you are set, isn't that simple enough?

That's exactly what blockstream devs are doing, since no one really understand how segwit works, they end up with propaganda and useless debate that does not make anyone more clever, finally: It is super simple, just download it and run it, everything will be fine...

The developers only matter when they say what you want to hear?
I've yet to see a single person who completely understands Segwit and is against it.

if you are among the group of people that completely understand SegWit, could you please explain to me the reason why a discount of 75% is applied to signatures (witnesses) while computing block space limit? (serious question)

the witness data (signatures) portion of a transaction usually makes up around 75% of the total transaction data size ... so by moving it out the main block and into a separate 'witness block' of data makes available approx. that much space in the main block for other data.

wow, full-on troll mode has been enabled ... haven't seen it this bad in a while, they must be getting desperate.
If they can't break this flag to the down side the big bull gets the green light and its all on ... desperate shorts will get bulldozed.

its hard to be really against segwit, even classic plans to adopt segwit.

It is. But what I'm often asking myself is not whether Gavin would adopt segwit, but if ...Satoshi would. Would he be pro or against such a change, and for what reasons...

Some will say Satoshi is irrelevant right now, so... but still, I have that question in my mind.

relax, satoshi is cool with it.

the problem with this is bitcoin does not allow for fractional reserve banking..

that's a feature not a bug.

So many questions, shall we spoon feed it or would you like it blended up through a straw?

Or you could just do some reading, write a wiki and contribute back to all those others who have built the platform you are currently crapping all over because nobody taught you how to play nice with others.

will bitpay accept TX form the second layer?
will we need to rebuild out all the infrastructure we've built thus far?
was segwit's effective block incress ment to will give businesses a few more months worth of block space to give them time to adapt to the second layer?

nobody wants to central plan some grand design of how this will all look, it should just evolve with free market solutions  Grin
are second layer payments free? i mean say i want to use Lighting Network to buy a coffee what kind of fees can i expect?

I expect they will be quite minimal as the computational resources required for a Lightning transaction are orders of magnitude less than an on-blockchain transaction. Take a look at the current electrum server-client system (all volunteer servers) to get an idea of what it might look like in terms of computational costs. The free market will drive LN transactions fees down to marginally more than their computational costs which are small as I said. Internet of Things apps should be able to utilise LN (or payment channels) for negotiations and very small trades for fractions of resource swaps, etc.

I notice that the trolls never ever once mention the halving ... or anything else positive, wonder why that is?  Cheesy

Like herpes, Hearn is the gift that keeps on giving.

IOW, he hasn't stopped whining about his rage-quit.

OK Mikey, tell us all about how Core's roadmap is "much more aggressive" than XT/Classic's governance coup and contentious hardfork at ~75% ...   Roll Eyes

Him and Swanson must have run out of things to BS each other about at R3CEV ... they are like out best weapon against the banks, dump your dross coders and 'thought leaders' into a "bankcoin' blockchain fintech project and demand outrageous salaries.

Bitcoin needs to shrink!

... rather, you need a shrink. You're the sickest thing on this whole forum, imho.

I see a trend here.

Price starts going up:
"Woo hoo! Moon gifs!"

Price starts to fall:
"Hi I'm a blocksizetard, here is my opinion on development issues"

... you forgot the sad ether-pumpers who crawl out when it goes down too.

A thing of beauty.

ah, the old bulldozer wall formation

Lightning network is just the first example of what can be done building on P2SH with payment channels.

There are sure to be more innovations using Bitcoin's scripting/contracting emgine that allow for trustless off-chain transacting in other layered solutions, tailored for specific use cases.

The problem right now is the paucity of imagination and talent, made worse by distractions like appeals to get-rich-quick solutions, short-termism, etc.

What are you suggesting? That we should ignore the fact that people like frapdoc and jl777 pulled massive scams on the bitcoin community? If you're suggesting that everyone in the community has done so.... well, I disagree.

this is interesting what scam did cypherdoc pull off?

... he denies it was a scam. Basically quite a few guys pre-paid for ASIC mining equipment that was never delivered, cypherdoc was front and center pumping the pre-sale here on bitcoin talk ... bottom line, those guys didn't get any mining equipment and cypherdoc (and some others) got their BTC, cypherdoc pocketed 3000BTC ... when challenged directly on the ethics of this he just says "stuff-mumble-stuff lawyers"

All the in fighting and trolling is getting a bit too much lately. The way things are currently it looks like we don't all want the same thing which is bitcoin's price to rise right.

some johnny-come-latelty's didn't read the club rules on the way in and then ignored the memo when they were told to hush down ... now they've been told straight out to fuck right off if they don't want to play by the rules.

blockstream fanboys word of the months
january: doomsday

Um, XT/Classic fanboys been saying doomsday since a year ago. When is the apocalypse of "fee event" coming?

... it was the 0mg!"capacity cliff catastrophe" before it was the "fee event". Not sure if Gavin called it the blockopocalypse in one of his endless blogs on the subject, but he may as well as have.

In future it may just be referred to as the "failed coup attempt".
