In the past, with bitcoin legacy addresses, today, with bitcoin HD wallets, likewise with Monero wallets, my practice is always and has always been to generate my addresses and keys using a long nonsense phrase as input to a utility such as the moneroaddress.org code or the bitaddress.org code.

Is there no such tool available for Aeon?

Use offline on airgapped pc

I didn't know aeon was so different from Monero.  No LMDB?

Aeon forked from Monero on June 2014, only two months after Monero started. The codebase seems to have been largely unchanged since then except for security fixes and a few smaller changes from upstream.

(EDIT: Of course Aeon has had its own unique changes such as the PoW change and pruning.)

I opened simplewallet and tried restore-deterministic-wallet using a mnemonic seed that was generated with the monero wallet generator code and works in Monero (I tested it).  I'm using a recent version of the generator that's specifically says it works with aeon.  Simplewallet doesn't recognize the mnemonic seed.

Edit:  I generated a wallet in simplewallet and copied down the seed.  It has words that aren't on the Monero wordlist:
github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/src/mnemonics/english.h
Of the 24 words in the mnemonic generated by simplewallet, only two were on that list.

You'd better not mix seed words for Monero and Aeon. Aeon's word list originates from Monero's old word list which is now deprecated IIUIC:
https://github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/src/mnemonics/english_old.h

I think Monero switched to a set of new word lists to support internationalization on October 2014:
https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/162
So is there any real advantage AEON has compared to Monero. Wasn't it that AEON only allows one zero mix transaction per block? Or am I wrong?

What are the pros and cons of Cryptonight-light to Cryptonight?

Smooth:

The main advantage is better utilization on lower end CPUs that often have only 1 MB of cache per core or HW thread. This matters for mining (meaning those lower end CPUs can be competitive, while with regular Cryptonight they are not) but also matters for processing block headers/verification. Cumulatively the 2x speed improvement in iterations, a hypothetical (but common) 2x or more speed improvement in utilization, and a 2x improvement from reducing our block time to 4 minutes from 2 minute in Monero, we are looking at an 8x or more improvement in header verification.

Memory-bound algorithms with massive scratchpads (GB) can argue that they are “too big” for ASICs (or equivalently that most of the ASIC cost would be memory which is already well-optimized) but even regular Cryptonight doesn’t do that. 2 MB isn’t all that different from 1 MB and neither is that major of an obstacle. The obstacle is radically improving on the already-optimized cache memory and already-optimized ASIC-like AES and large multiply instructions in CPUs. There are several opportunities for theoretical gains but the appear vastly more limited in magnitude than something like SHA256, and still have to compete against CPUs in economies of scale and staying current with process.

It would be a major step to make a truly user friendly wallet. Monero, even with all it's other problems, has a nightmare wallet.

Aeon has always been the respectable cn coin and it's wallet is okay but should be easier on new people.

I would have to disagree about Monero having a nightmare wallet. Did you try their GUI? They have developed one of the cleanest and nice looking graphic interfaces in all of the cryptospace.

I also disagree about rushing to make Aeon easier to use. Like what smooth did with Monero, he should ignore the rest and concentrate on the core of the project.

Is aeon comparable with Monero? Is it worth to invest in it?

If you believe in the tech then yes, if you care only about trading then no;)

Seems like AEON is getting some love finally. Have there been any fundamental news for the latest price spike or is just normal speculation / proper valuation?

No news as far as i know. Probably some whales doing speculations. The cryptomarket is going nuts at the moment...

Is it possible to see how many AEON are hold by each "address" ? Like having a diagram to see how the currency is spread between the users...

Aeon is a privacy focused coin like monero and doesnt have a richlist;)
You're not going to a bank either asking for a richlist hehe

@thehihoguy. I am curious how and where will you use the powerpoint presentation. Are you going to start going around cryptocoin conferences and try to educate the community about Aeon?

Maybe we are seeing the unveiling of the next Fluffypony in you hehehe. You are doing a good job for Aeon sir, keep it up. You deserve to be in the team if smooth is in need of one.

I have no fix plan yet for the further use of the powerpoint presentation but who knows in future. First and foremost the presentation is for the community to build on it and create more ressources. This will help newcomers to understand AEON and share the knowledge in an easy and practical way.

Not even sure if there is a cryptocoin conference near me hehe

Thanks a lot for the compliments, really appreciate it^^

Did they run away with our money or what? Not a single update on what's going on with the alpha test or anything.. Is anything getting changed? Bugs? How long will the alpha last? This is kinda simple things to inform about when devs are dead on every single channel. The devs didn't answer my previous question, so I doubt they will answer now. (Which is a strange way to show investors that this is a serious project..)
alpha is not impressive. look at what virgin will do for the release. my personal opinion without a good graphical interface to the exchange soon not fetch. must be comfortable graphical interface as in conventional terminals for exchanges.

Whats virgin? another exchange?

Agree...not very impressive and if tangarine doesnt have an incredible plan for marketing/features it could look bad....

Meanwhile COSS/kucoin has a great interface, improves it continously, responsive devs and gather experience in their project. The only advantage of tangerine to them is the margin trading and low volumne of token. but over time those exchange will have that too and leave tangerine behind....:/

Headsup to people trading itns

stocks.exchange

BTC withdrawal fee atm:  Transaction Fee: 0.004 BTC

Uhm....yeah...gotta find a coin i can buy and transfer cheaper....insane transaction fee for btc on stocks.exchange, be aware

BTC withdrawal fee quite high...

Maybe that high become low in a near future  Cool

Part two on my adventures on stocks.exchange

Bought eth with my btc coz withdrawal fee for eth is 0.002 eth

Tried to happily withdraw them....oh wait...no...withdrawal error...-.-

Now waiting for support to fix this.

My friend i had some problems with them too ... but as i said ... they always solved my problems, I didnt loose a single satoshi in there Wink

Sometimes we have to be patience Wink

I do understand that....but in a time where many exchanges popup, stocks.exchange should excel in something or provide a feature that makes them attractive as a service. If their withdrawal fees are not competitive and 4 out of 10 withdrawals end in error (from my pers. experience, maybe im just super unlucky) then there is a need of improvement, else the investors will look for anther exchange.

you can see this opinion reflecting in the huge spread on each trading pair.

Yeah ... true that. It´s a recent exchange .. but i undestand you i would like to have no problems there too Wink

Support was fast today. Lets see if i can withdraw

About the btc fee, heres response of stocks.exchange:

Stocks.Exchange
Due high bitcoin network spam we must set withdrawal fee to 0.004. We are sorry but this is necessary, we will reduce it asap after network goes free. https://t.co/0sDn3hmEBy

I need a big exchange of this coin because I see in etherdelta the price is still not how and maybe still very far from the price at the time of ico. we all know that this project is really successful
Seem this coin still not yet on etherdelta because i have searched and can't found it. But i agree with you, further this coin need big exchange not only in etherdelta so that TNG price can growth

You have to check token id:

Ok, but 10% is not a small amount :/

regards

The reason for this fluctuation is, that a pool usually takes the shares submitted by a miner over a certain period of time (usually around 30 min). Since your mining difficulty might be high and sents the processed shares only every minute, the fluctuation will be 1 min plus minus which influence the average.

To have a more stable hashrate representation of your miner, you can set a low fix difficulty. That way your miner will respond more often to the pool and the average is more accurate. This would also increase the cpu usage of the pool and your bandwidth though. Difficulty has in theory no impact on earnings.

How does difficulty have no impact on earnings? Is it true that with higher difficulty my rigs will have less accepted share to the pool, therefore lower profits?

If your machine can not handle the high difficulty in time, then yes there would be more invalid shares.
In my equation im talking about a setup where the machine can handle the difficulty in time for the low as well for the high difficulty.

What are the more advanced concepts and techniques that the VPN coin project has compared with the previous Mysterium? I've been heavily responsible for the explosion of this cool, unknown Mysterium, and the explosion of its application. Next, I'm going to spend a little time researching white paper on ANN.

Sounds like a bad pickup line in a bar:P

"Hey baby, wanna meet the person who made Mysterium famous?"
"I can make you a star too INTENSE baby...just come to my hotel"
