281  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 11, 2023, 07:13:31 PM
EDIT: 5 straight points by the Pacers, cutting the lead to 3, Obi's 3 and then a steal for a layup.
This small run by the Pacers during the start of the fourth quarter got me nervous since it had a lot of back and forth. And then the Lakers got their turn to push the lead back to double digits.

Even though the Pacers lost, it was still impressive that the game remained competitive despite their low shooting percentages.

so congrats in advance kabayan for that ML bet.
Thanks, and congrats to everyone else who backed the Lakers.  Smiley

Congrats! The Lakers managed to bring that game to their favor after that short run by the Pacers, I did not manage to watch the game and I failed to spare some coins for them. They play great game as AD really dominates, plus Reaves and LeBron back him up to produce decent numbers that they needed to secure the win.

Pacers on the other hand, did really try working to keep the gap close, but not enough to make a rally to snatch the game. It's a sweet win with a decent ML!

If AD played like that consistently, we could easily assert that the Lakers are a championship team.

The way they made the usual scorers for the Pacers, Hali, and Turner, struggle speaks volumes about how strong their defense is. It's the experience of the Lakers was their weapon in this championship game, marking another chapter in the history of LeBron and AD working together. Congratulations to the bettors; I'm sure we have many silent winners here, as the Lakers were the obvious picks.
I unfortunately took the Pacers and took a loss, but it's hard to win when Anthony Davis was so dominant. 41 points and 20 rebounds is about as impressive as it gets. Lebron had 24 points with 11 rebounds and Reaves had an impressive 28 point performance. The Lakers were there to prove a point!

My guts told me not to put a bet on which team will win the match, I believed those youngins can go over Lebron's supremacy to the game but Davis cut them off telling something about the fans. He's with Lebron, the greatest player on the NBA right now, alright I didn't say GOAT I don't want to debate  Tongue Lebron and Davis on the court reminds of old school players playing dominantly on the perimeter, that 39-year old body of Lebron doesn't look right to me and look at Davis, didn't you see how he went to Pacer's center player chest trying to make a basket? that's hella crazy.
282  Economy / Economics / Re: We need higher wages off course but goverment need to do one thing on: December 11, 2023, 06:14:54 PM
Government doesn't determine prices, the free market does  [they are neither supplier or buyer in the balance].
Yeah, only if the government decides what price tag shall be put on products or services then there'll be no problem at all with the cost of it. It's out of their control. I can see that these businessmen are greedy, I mean we all do, but in business making money is taking so much away from the buyers, consumers, and resellers. Not every businessmen have the Chinese mindset, they demand more cost when the product or services gives comfort or make you life easy.

Even if one country tries to do this most prices are set globally so the attempts would be quite futile.   You arent alone in wanting these things, but its not easily done.   Best thing a government can do is provide stability, unfortunately large amounts of debt and new currency issuance leads to the opposite with giant price instability and unknown prices in the marketplace especially externally.
Do you believe that one day goverment can provide stability? Like the poor, middle-class and rich will meet halfway with regards with these things? I wonder how would they do that, but hopefully.
283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A hero or a fool? on: December 11, 2023, 05:46:49 PM
So he is banning himself and the system limit him to win max $200 only? What kind of system is this?
A ban is given but the player is still allowed to gamble with limited max win? What a fool...
His story was he gamble his rent money, so I guess that is his way of limiting himself to gamble, pretty ridiculous right? If I'm winning then I'm going to continue it till I lose significant amount of money. For me he is not fool, he's trying to save himself in drowning from gambling. He just wanna say afloat with a limit of $200 at max!

I would say the gambler is a fool, how he is willing to accept such a term where he is banned but still allowed to gamble with max win?
He doesn't need to accept it, cause he did it, so he knew all along what it would cost him.

I will not even accept the terms in such a ban system, if he is willing to avoid addiction, he should find a term where he is limited on max lose on each session or max lose in total for speified timeframe or even a ban system that completely ban him forever.
Well I can agree on this, he's trying to limit himself but he did it the other way around which is odd to me. Anyways that's his plan. the next thing we should know is how long did he do it to himself  Cheesy
284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 10, 2023, 04:47:08 PM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and the family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.
I never thought of this situation before, and this is a great question actually. With regards to husband and wife, it's both of your responsibility to take care of each other and so if gambling takes a piece of time where you are supposed to be in bed, table, or even fetch the kids from school then it should be stop. BUT let's say you are both in gambling, I'd say if it doesn't affect your lives as husband and wife, or as being parent I think it's only fine to find your entertainment with gambling. WHO SHOULD STOP? I guess this is something that both of you need to talk about, sit and talk. Bottomline, if it doesn't affect your relationship/responsibilities I think it's fine.
285  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks are the cause of millions of crypto project failures on: December 10, 2023, 03:48:47 PM
I am actually amazed that there has not been a single attempt to create a Bank for Crypto currency supporters, by large companies that are currently running huge Crypto companies? I know "Circle" did this in their early days, but they quickly stop supporting Crypto.. when they hooked enough clients for their business to run on it's own. (They did a complete 180 on their Bitcoin supporters)
I don't really get this, Crypto bank? isn't it counter-intuitive? Crpyto and Bank? Bank is not only meant to store assets, I think that's what you are referring to, but banking is a business which might be suitable with crypto, we already know this.

Banks are slowly losing more and more customers, with their misuse of their power and their greedy behavior. Crypto currencies has given them some competition and it opened some people's eyes, by providing an alternative.  Grin
I don't see any statistics that banks are losing customers, and this doesn't open a huge door to cryptocurrencies as it is not widely accepted in most places but yeah there are a few who accepts it. Still there are a lot of people who uses banks not only to store their money or assets but also uses bank products and services. Search how many bank transfers are happening within the day, compare it to 10 years or more and you'll see it gotten multiply each year.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 10, 2023, 03:24:51 PM
It has been kind of crazy seeing the Chicago Bulls payout so well without Zach Lavine.  For whatever reason their chemistry just seems to be so much better with him not out there on the floor. I’m not really sure what it is, or if it’s really more so just a coincidence..but it leads me to believe they’ll be pushing it trade Lavine harder than ever. Who’s getting him!?

Maybe the Heat? They wanted to get another superstar to help Jimmy on their campaign and I think Lavine would be best suitable for them. The players that could have been traded if the Lillard trade push through, they're also the ones that will be sent for Lavine.
Did the Lakers show interest to Lavine? I saw a news t hat Lakers are looking to trade Hachimura and DLo for Lavine and I think it's only fair for Lakers to let go of DLo since  they got Austin Reaves. For the Heat, I think it is best for them to move Bam into a PF and look for a bigger center. We saw how they played with Denver last NBA finals and we know the answer why the Denver give them a blow, it is because of Jokic can just pump and bump Bam inside. Get themselves with body built like Nurkic or Valenciunas.

There's no reason keeping Lavine if he's not happy with the team, and as you have notice, the team played better without him, we know the answer to this.
It's not about the player actually, he signed a contract which technically says "Play the best you can", as long as he is with the Chicago bulls he should be doing his thing, well his teammate might be a considerable factor to be happy with but he should adjust until his contract expires.
287  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me to calculate my trading profit on: December 09, 2023, 04:16:20 PM
For example i have 100$ starting capital and i manage to make 30% weekly profit...
So how much i have by coupond in 3 months , 5months and after 12 months ? ..

These are just your desires, which are far from reality. And I doubt that you will be able to increase your balance by 30% every month, especially since you can't even calculate the final result yourself. In my opinion, if your balance turns out to be positive after a year, then this will already be an excellent result of your trading.
While others are giving the OPs exact calculation for the possible profit he'll take in compounding his capital in trading. I wonder why he needs it from other people, I mean it is obvious that you'll get added interest or profit from the capital if you compound it. It is giving me a bumps, and it is absurd that you are a trader and don't know this one. On top of that, it is so hard to get consistent gains in trading, you will get wrekt if you think of that in the beginning. If you are a newbie, try to experience things out, don't plan ahead, I'm not saying that its bad but realistically speaking no one can attain to have a non-losing trade in a year!

He probably speaking about staking  Huh
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for newbies on: December 09, 2023, 03:50:03 PM
You want to learn how to gamble mate ? I would give you the most simple and yet effective advice which is for you to go find a friend of yours in real life who is actually a gambler and then ask him about gambling and that you have funds which you would like to try out and believe me you would definitely like the reaction that you will get  Grin. Just know and always remember that we actually gamble for fun and anything more than this can make you a possible addict in the near future.
Not a bad perspective as it can help op ask one on one questions as simple and quick and get answers directly as they dialogue, but what am scared of in this perspective of learning gambling from a friend is that it will be dangerous as a newbie you are to learn about  gambling and it happens that you're learning it from an addictive gambler with a bad behavioural
As a newbie that is trying to learn gambling with friends is the worst, especially if you have money to gamble with all your friends will say "all in" all the time HAHA! But yeah it's a good experience to play with your friends, been doing this for quite some time now while it's fun playing with them you can feel that there is a competition and at the end of the day y'all still friends win or lose  Cool

So Op be watchful and make sure any friend shouldn't be one that's out of control with his gambling otherwise you will be doing yourself harm than good.
Stay away from those people, even they are your friends, these people are the most butt hurtful to watch gambling and you think they can teach you to gamble? Hell nah.
289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling all about luck? on: December 09, 2023, 03:07:03 PM
In my opinion, making cash from gambling is not a good option and the statistical probability that you will win every game at every casino is very low. I think winning or losing every game is completely in your head, so your tricks are not there. However, we all have some kind of luck so we should strive for what is possible for us.

gambling by just relying on luck will feel difficult, just imagine how long your luck will last, when you are tired there is a big possibility that your luck will run out and you will end up making big losses, even though you are playing slots (which many people say is a 100% luck game) you still have to have a good strategy to stay in the game, try not to run out of capital in a short time. The gambling you do will only be in vain if the strategy you use is not right and you only rely on 100% luck.

Everyone who gambles knows what you said in your reply as you have zero understanding. Gambling is not always luck if you know it is all about luck then gamble with the house. Think twice before replying on this board as it doesn't make any sense when you say gambling is all about luck.
Luck is part of gambling because luck means your chances of winning even on 0.01%, basically gambling is you versus your luck. BUT I honestly think that luck is also part of our decision making, for example in number games like HI-LO or Dice, we can always tell that luck is with you if you just do the right decision on choosing which side are you going to bet, high or low, up or down, Imma say luck is just a pure natural thing based on our instinct.

There are two parts to gambling according to me, which are betting on sports and playing against the house, is there something else I missed? There are multiple games you can play and place your money for nothing as they are controlled.
There is still a multiplayer game or table games where you compete with real humans, you cannot control their hands but statistically you may have guess what they hold.

When you play strategy-based gambling which is a card game, where multiple users are competing against each other, would you still call it a luck game?
If you get a flush from the river over a straight, Yes I'll call it a "calculated" luck.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: December 09, 2023, 02:16:48 PM
Mixers are usually used to avoid government taxes.
It happened that they knew about this. We would not know if someone is trying to evade taxes from government or mixing cryptocurrencies from illegal activities such as hacking.

Mixer allows you to trade your bitcoins in the most confidential manner. Since transactions are completed secretly through mixers even with official approval, it would not be wrong to consider it as illegal, but it cannot be compared to money laundering.
How can we know that it cannot be compared to money laundering? we know for a fact that hackers/frauds are using mixers to avoid being caught though this is hard to explain because we can't have a proof.

We have learned several times how bad money laundering is. There's a good reason Mixer has been criticized so much lately because there have been several popular Mixer campaigns on this forum that ended up being scams. The forum may have decided not to allow any more mixer campaigns on this forum due to popular mixers being scams so as not to damage the forum's reputation.
Theymos are keeping the forum's best interest, not to taint it with some bad reputation in public so he did it. I would agree with his decision to ban it in the forum as it will cause chaos to the forum in any time possible if he didn't do it. Good thing he gave us all an ample time and didn't ban it right away.
291  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 08, 2023, 01:44:50 PM
Does any of feel behavioral change in you based on the win/loss in gambling. Myself had experienced it, and personally I used to be happy and I used to be polite with my family members and kid whenever I am on profit. On the day of losing it changes exactly in the opposite way, even for simple things I get much anger. Particularly while giving food to kid patience is must. On winning days I let him take his own time and eat. On the losing days I used to shout at him. I'm addicted, and I want fellow gamblers to make a self analysis at regular interval and be on the safer side.
I believe this is a common human psychology, not just among gamblers. However, for gamblers, the emotional rollercoaster can be more intense. We could be elated by a winning trade, only to be immediately frustrated by missing the next opportunity or facing a loss. The emotional shifts happen faster and more frequently compared to non-gamblers. Additionally, when gambling or engaging in short-term trading, emotions like FOMO (fear of missing out) or frustration often impact our mood.
I believe so, the change of mood makes the change in behavior, it happens to me all the time especially if you sleep the next morning will be based on your mood when you win or lose. Basically it is the same with trading, ask a trader what their mood is after losing or winning a trade.

A few years ago, when I entered the cryptocurrency market, these emotions often took control, especially when trading futures. I even found myself getting angry at those around me just because I missed an order due to a phone call or some other distraction. Now, although those emotions still linger, I've learned to control and not let them burst out like before. However, complete elimination is nearly impossible unless I stop engaging in these activities entirely.
I agree, it's part of our emotions that is still persisting even how hard we try not to connect it with to. At the end of the day, we are all humans that has an emotion which is very likely can be affected by everything we do.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 08, 2023, 12:33:28 PM
I understand that it's hard to predict, but I suggest you follow your own intuition as this should be a close match.

In the last two games of the Lakers, they were -1.5 and -2, while the Pacers were both underdogs in their last two games. So most likely, the Lakers will be the slight favorites here. However, you can't count the Pacers out, as they are getting everyone involved. They are an exciting team to watch. Although I initially thought they were not consistent, beating the Celtics has changed my perspective. I've already told myself that they might advance to the Finals, so I wouldn't bet against them facing an experienced Lakers team, especially since the public is likely be backing the Lakers.
I'm guessing the Lakers will be favored by 3-4 points, but I would likely bet the Pacers and take the points. They seem to be playing good as the underdogs and have been really playing well as a team. If Haliburton is on point it will be a closer game than most think.
Hali seems to be a monster on this In-season tournament, he took down Celtics and Bucks and next on the line is Lakers. As much as I want to bet on Lakers, I feel very hesitant to do so. But I'll take a plus points on lakers, I feel that this game is going to be a very close one around 3 point spread in scoreboard. If Hali remain consistent of his performance then it'll be most likely a Pacers win, his stats are showing a point god. Pacers +3.5!

This is exciting, actually, as we will be seeing how Zion would play in a situation like this. It's not the playoffs yet but it's similar to the playoffs, like a Game 7 because it's a single-elimination game. It's the experienced Lakers versus the talented Pelicans. Now, I think it's hard to choose, but if we base it on how they won in the quarter-finals, I think the Pelicans should be the right choice.

It’s easy Lakers all day long since Lebron is very good on tournament like this since he has a lot of experience which means he has a better performance on crucial games like this. I doubt that raw power of Zion can beat an A full power Lakers since they are not Nuggets that has a lot combination due to Jokic play making.

I think Bucks is the only team that has a best shot to beat Lakers on this tournament since they have Giannis with experience on crucial matches. Zion is still lack of experience and not that flexible compared to the other dominant players.
I'm betting on Lakers on this In-season tournament, but seeing Bron missing his free throws making me think to get a handicap. Some crucial free throws are being missed by Bron, which is normal for most of players but on tournament like this and ofcourse he's considered the GOAT, I hate seeing him missing uncontested shots. Pelicans might played this very closely to Lakers, I like their stats from previous games, they are on momentum as well.
296  Economy / Gambling discussion / NBA - Dallas Mavericks unbelievable run vs OKC on: December 05, 2023, 05:43:49 PM
I bet on this game on live, Mavs + 19.5, surely won this after a 30-0 run in the 4th quarter.  They made an unbelievable run and tied the game from 111 -87 to 111 - 117, leaving OKC scoreless for the past 6 minutes. Gives me a smirk and goosebumps because of my points plus, but what left me in disbelief is that an NBA team hasn't scored in 6 minutes.

What do you guys think about this one? quite sus for me
