Will Ethereum be able to do it?
Ethereum is over hyped and dead tech, Most interesting are the z-coins, zen-cash is my favorite, easy to mine, which means, its like 2011 right now BTG will be supported by china forever and its easy to mine Sure LTC will be around, but not likely to go up much, Lot's of good penny coin's, but most are just single guys in moms basement Zen-Cash has really good marketing, and its founders have all been around the block, they're serious about solving problems, BITCOIN Classic doesn't give a shit about the problems, these ppl are in denial, they're all rich, and they follow "if it work, then don't fix it model', which means that BTC is now just a bank for rich ppl, and will never be a micro-payment system. There are +2,000 alt-coins, most are garbage and bullshit, If you discount the ICO's and BOUNTY's and all the bullshit MLM shit you can cut out 90% of the shit, .. that leaves with a few solid people that are serious about scaling & privacy. Team BITCOIN-CORE doesn't give a shit about privacy, they know that when google or FANG buys them out the entire reason is to SPY on ppl, thus they work hard to keep BITCOIN open for easy forensic spying. Monero is cool, but its ECDSA is weak by design, if I wasn't bored of this shit I would fix MONERO problems and deliver a real privacy box that had equihash algo, ... Enough said, is there a horse that will drink the water if I hold the bucket? This is terrible advice.

I agree that Ethereum has a strong future, but the implications of ideas behind this thread are long on more than just Ethereum. Issues of regulations, national borders, scalability, resilience, etc. will altogether lead to a diversity of blockchains, not a market completely dominated by one blockchain. Maybe Ethereum will be the leader and have 30% of the market (for example), so I'm not saying that the nature of industry in an economy will fundamentally change. But, Ethereum is not a fundamental set of truths, there are other ways to do similar things, and there are incentives to both create and use new blockchains. I'm long on Ethereum, NEO, Bancor, Cosmos, Polkadot...
Great post. It helped put my attention in the right place. Now, I have to research Bancor, Cosmos, and Polkadot, because I haven't heard of them. lol.

I think the Cryptokitties idea is great. The idea is novel and fun. Good for Ethereum overall, despite the current network congestion.

I think that Litecoin is one of the established players now. It's basically a better version of Bitcoin. With that being said, Monero has such attractive technology behind it that I'd be remiss not to invest.
I'd invest in both. I think they're both going to outpace Bitcoin and Ethereum in terms of growth. I am a newbie though, so take my comments lightly.

I think Request Network and DeepOnion are good solid projects to invest in.
I like Storj and its team. Man, if cloud storage was that cheap...makes my mouth water somewhat.
I'm a bit skeptical of Ripple, although lots of people say that it's a great investment.

Yeah, I think I just missed the NEM pump. Golem is looking attractive, though. I believe in Ethereum, and Litecoin, too.
Overall, I think 2018 is an easy year to win. You just have to throw your money somewhere, preferably in a top 10 coin.

Haha yeah it's strange ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I think the lure is in the breeding. They each come with their own "genome". That, and the opportunity for breeding sales.

I hope the network clears. Cryptokitties seems like it can be lucrative at first glance, although I suppose the network is clogged because others have the same ideas as me. I signed up for it and checked it out. Haven't bought anything yet, but it seems like a decent idea if it somehow doesn't clog the Ethereum blockchain. Are the current fees to breed the kitties super expensive?

Thanks for the useful advice. I tried buying some altcoins yesterday but the site that I used had a $100 USD minimum purchase.
I was thinking that I'd have to wait a while but now I can invest sooner. More safely, too.

I'm in the same boat, thinking about putting some small savings in. I stalled on buying back when it was $400 a coin because I didn't believe in it. There's no way I'm not buying in now.
I wasn't even aware of the potential dip in btc coming around New Years; thanks for the heads up. I think that btc will be $500,000 - $1mil per coin at some point, but then again I'm extremely new to this and may be overly optimistic.
