This is such a lame patent, I would be surprised if it ever stood up in court. It would never hold up in court. World of warcraft was released 2004, if I´m right you could by things for credit in that game.

Gavin has been doing an excellent work. The priority is security and protocol changes first and thats a very good priority.
A lot of people have compromised PC:s. Bitcoin would just look bad if the first thing that happened was that most people lost their coins.
When it comes to the UI the useability of the client is not that bad most people should be able to use it without any problem.
Whats really is bad from a user point is the huge block download, people will think it sucks, but my guess is that it will also be adressed. But I would rather see that the client got support for easy mining in order to increase the security.
Than you have URI support.
Even if some of the other clients would get much better most people will not find them at first. Judging the whole Bitcoin concept only on the standard client.
But it would not hurt to have more people work in parallel at some of the other things and look at the code.

According to this video. USA and Israel may be planning false flag operation to be blamed on Iran and thus "justify" another war. 50 years old carrier USS Enterprise that is scheduled for decomission next year is sent to persian gulf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkU_OAOZgSI&feature=player_embeddedAnd this is probably the reason why... (Though this video is probably a wild exaggeration.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8j4Tyy5nsQ8Things can be "solved" by going to a more local economy, moving closer etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smRo7UFUuwM&feature=relatedOil reserves in Iran, according to its government, rank third largest in the world at approximately 150 billion barrels (24×109 m3) as of 2007, although it ranks second if Canadian reserves of unconventional oil are excluded.[1] This is roughly 10% of the world's total proven petroleum reserves. Iran is the world's fourth largest oil producer and is OPEC's second-largest producer after Saudi Arabia.

I would imagine that the sender will have to show the adress from which he claims to have sent coins. The store can check that adress and see no coins sent. They can than make a note. If we get X coins from adress X this customer have the right to item Y, valid as long as this note is not deleted. Delete note when item Y has been redeemed.
But until they do not se any coins they can simply not give away the item. Just like when sometimes VISA terminals do not work, you have to go and get cash.

It would be great if we say to any company or organisation that consider Bitcoin as a payment method, that they will get free advertisement on We Use Coins or/and other big Bitcoin sites.
This could be done by having a huge impressive banner that rotates images for business that use Bitcoin, and clicking on the image will take you to the business site.
If we can say, hey when you enable Bitcoin you will also get free advertisement on the frontpage or on the tab, where can I use Bitcoin on this Bitcoinsite with 10.000 visitors every month.
For many medium and small companies such an ad exposure would be a huge incentive to accept Bitcoin.
This would also work the other way around, showing people that there are business that use Bitcoins.

If you go to a local shop or any well known shop would you not trust them? And thus you would only need zero confirmation?
There was some suggestion of having premade adresses with "change" in them and the keys to the adresses could be given away with no need to wait for confirmation, or something like that.

How do Bitcoin enter the picture. In what way do he use them?

|
|
As said earlier, create a fund with a bounty which any new proven attacks will get if they contact gavin and keep them secret for atleast 6 month?
This kind of things will get easier when we can have multiple adresses needed to control an account. This means that Gavin and some others Casascius etc can hold the different keys for this account.

How about a client with which you can Accept ads to send bitcoins for free?
Now how would you prevent someone to spam the blockchain? How about taking a fee, but giving it back one year later? Would something like that be possible with the new transaction type? This would mean that it does cost you to send a message but you will get the cost back. This way its free to send a message if you accept the ad, but you are still prevented from spamming the blockchain?
Would it be possible to send transaction to this adress for x amount of time and than back after x time?
Though I can se a problem with this since we do not want a mining pool to give out their own client and control all the transactions.
Would it be possible to create an p2p ad service that auctions out ad space, like google ads? The earnings from the ads are divided out to all miners.
But it would need some management to make sure no hate messages or porn ads got through. Perhaps a p2p filter. Only ads accepted by x amount of miners will pass out.
This needs more thinking and with my headeach I will leave that to you.

Make a service that makes it very easy for brick and mortar or anyone? To earn money for selling Bitcoins. For example they can sell coins at 1% more expensive than the current exchange rate.
Than they can accept Bitcoins as a payment method for which there is no creditcard fees, earning or saving even more money.
This means that they have strong incentives to use Bitcoins for three reasons:
1. They earn money selling them. 2. Since they are one of the few places you can use them, they get the customers back in a higher extent. 3. They can get free marketing by being one of the first places to use Bitcoins.

If I were you I would somehow try and 1 up mtgox's level of transparency but yes, at the min what they did. Yes, what MtGox did is really appreciable and all exchanges should follow them. Well you should kind of be able to estimate the numbers from their report.

Gold's greatest benefit now is that it might be all that's left in the event of infrastructure collapse.
Most people would use cash in such a case unless you talk about a hyperinflation. Both cash and gold can be forged but cash is much more common.

UPDATE: Good news and bad news ladies and gentlemen. Good newsBarnes and Noble's supplier is working with me right now to get everything ready for distribution (and guess what, the manager I'm working with saw the Good Wife episode and is very interested in Bitcoin ) and it looks like we'll be hitting the majority of the stores. We need to do our own budgeting for additional advertising packages etc to make it attractive for the stores to carry it, but that's all boring business stuff we're taking care of. Bad newsThe entire process could take several months. As anyone with basic math skills could figure out by now, printing out 2,000 issues is probably not cheap, and we only get the revenue of the issues that are actually sold, the rest of the issues being thrown in the garbage by the stores. This means that we have an interesting choice to make on design+quality. Should we: - Go as cheap as possible for printing quality and binding until we sign the paperwork for distribution by major stores, at which time we have all the bells and whistles (and even up it to 100 pages); or
- Do we treat the community as our main target, run on the revenue we get from the community only, and see if we last 3 months on that alone.
It's one of those difficult management decisions, and I'm the one who has to make it so I'd like some kind, non-judgmental, and constructive advice on the matter. P.S. My own personal feelings (which don't count for shit btw in the face of the entire community, i.e. our livelihood) are that we should run lean for 3 months, secure the magazine on a small platform in the community only, then come bursting out the gates in style in 3 months time with the more expensive binding styles (look up saddlestitch vs perfect binding and remind yourself that the difference is $3,500 for us at current volume) 3rd option: Raise the price for the following editions and single copies sold in the stores?

Why? a 3% mining fee is a 3% mining fee regardless of the protocol changes. Why would Tycho or any other miners care? Moreover, if some emergency happens it will be much easier to mobilize a small group of oligopolists to respond. Small miners won't care enough to even think about the issue, let alone download an update.
Hmm... that's true... Because 3% of $5 is less than 3% of $20.

Sepa banktransfer and Paxum?
You should also look at Cryptoxchange.

If there is any risc of double spending could we make a deal with the exchanges. Maybe they could email every customer telling them to upgrade their clients and shut down for 2 days (like in a weekend) during a risky period.

Could there be other incentives to hack pools? Not only to attack Bitcoin but also to use the power to break passwords?

My girlfriends reaction. A man with a mask, thats like digging your own grave. I hope she is not right but I fear she is, in that for most people it will make Bitcoins look like a negative thing. Unfortunatly connecting Bitcoin with software piracy (Rick falkwinge) and anonymous will appeal to young males and Protest the wallstreet but make any normal business afraid of being associated with it. I´m afraid I cant put this issue on the desk of my office since it might rather make the guys with suits never accept Bitcoins. I can picture someone holding that issue in his hand in a TV show debating Bitcoins using the cover against Bitcoin. However in my eyes it still looks really cool and like a really great work! But than I know who anonymous are and I know how good Bitcoin is for the world, but I´m not the one you should convince. Though I really look forward to read the issue and will buy a couple of issues and I really hope I´m wrong so I can put the issue on strategic places or otherwise I will have to wait for the next issue Please make next issue focus on the positive sides that are accepted by the public. Such as the democratic voting system that if it works, can be used to stop every voting from ever being manipulated. This does not have to be a boring cover. It can feature a red circle crossing over any "dictator" that cheated with voting, maybe Hitler, Mao etc (or insert other dictator, not sure if they cheated.) Anyway, great work. And is that an interview with Satoshi?
