Old Altcoin ANN deleted ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4745928

What is this ? Why would anyone invest in your token ? Just cos you left an ETH address ?

...that's some shady stuff right here

I can’t understand one thing - how they could change my mail ... After all, when changing mail, a request should come to my e-mail

There is no request, you indeed got an email informing you but must have missed it. Hope just forum account was hacked ...

There were worst cases and quite a few, like this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5165936

283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin QR code on a street art mural in Paris on: October 02, 2019, 02:28:29 PM
@pascalboyart, how do you paint them, do you have a screen or some template? I don't suppose you manually draw the squares or the address.

On the website in OP last picture in the template he uses...
Kudos to you and damn impressive artwork there buddy !
284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cryptocurrency (CCY) Insurance platform for Investors. on: October 02, 2019, 02:23:39 PM
What can I say...good luck with that !
Also might want to edit you posts instead or leaving 2-3-4 consecutive ones. They are considered multi-posting and usually are deleted by mods Smiley
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cryptocurrency (CCY) Insurance platform for Investors. on: October 02, 2019, 12:46:05 PM
[...] Our company will be legit and we will insure funds invested by peoples in cryptocurrency [...] CCY COIN IS ON SECOND PLACE AND ALGO CAN BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME WITH SWAP OUR TARGET IS INSURANCE PLATFORM.

Hope you will be legit soon  Cheesy

On the other hand it is indeed a bit shady that you advertise it as being a different algo : https://github.com/CCYofficial/CCY/blob/c1eaf8c6b2158d0b8418acf0f474b7ee8930333a/src/hash.h#L271

Investors need some assurance. Do you have a firm, links for team, experience etc. OK, you don't know your own coin algo. But what do you know ? Who are you? Why should we trust you ?
These are honest questions and would expect a decent and informed response Smiley
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this how we regulate Bitcoin? on: October 01, 2019, 10:48:26 AM
It's somehow crucial to regulate bitcoin...

It is crucial to build apps for dummies. If btc wallet would be as easy to use as any VISA card we wouldn't have this conversation now. All this is a bit too complicated for an average user. Either lacking in technical knowledge, or technology impaired or just scared he does not know how to secure his funds and believes he has high chances of being hacked or tricked. Once some easy to use apps will be developed ... and I mean EASY AS FUCK, even your grandma can use with a bit of will power ... then we know we made it! Until then we'll just argue about regulations vs maturity & auto-regulation. This is going nowhere...pace !
287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this how we regulate Bitcoin? on: October 01, 2019, 12:37:00 AM
Read the article. Well wrote, except it's all wrong Smiley)

Let's start splitting hairs

Quote from: the blogger from the OP
Exchanges and wallets alike should be held to certain minimum standards, with fines for failing to adequately protect their infrastructure and customers.

Please name 3 big websites (regardless of the activity field) that have not been hacked! Yahoo, NASA, FaceBook, NSA, FBI, Capital One etc. This is the evolution of online security. Hackers get better. Online security needs to be improved. I agree that improper security protocols should be penalized, but put 3-4 mediocre hackers in a room and they can steal some crypto. It's not a solution. Imagine you have to pay a fine because your front door's lock was picked and thieves stole your dad's laptop. Doesn't really make sense. If you forgot the door opened ... then you're screwed !

Currently, there’s not any sort of “authority” that verifies the legitimacy of any particular upcoming project...

Is this guy serious ? Who will pick this "authority". Who will it respond to ? Who will audit it ? Better off trusting the ICO ...
A. Antonopoulos came with a interesting suggestion:  smart contracts ! They do an IEO and the funds are distributed in installments based on road map accomplishments. Did you do well so far ? Multisig between investors... you can have another 15%. Keep working hard and see you in 3 months for the next 15% if we decide you are on the right track. If not, return the remaining funds to us !
I HATE the idea of "regulatory authority" and what it means today.

We have this new great tech. Let's use tech to oversee it ourselves, not call for a "council of the elders" to guide us.

Listen to this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Gf_PHk530  and then read that article again and tell me you fell the same way Smiley
288  Other / Meta / Re: Signature spam threads. Should there be any punishment? on: August 28, 2019, 09:56:04 PM
... I was wondering, is it legitimate newbie or just alt account of someone who decided to make paradise for sig spammers.

Thank you for that! Started to think I fell off the crazy wagon with this Cheesy

as you said, it is pretty hard to prove. what indicators are used to prove it?
even if they have same IP, that's not enough proof to say the accounts are owned by one person

You have a point there mate! Didn't give this enough thought tbh. Agree, just IP may not be enough in most cases.
At least a bit of attention was raised... When I stumble across similar threads I'll just use the report option. Sure those guys know what to do.
289  Other / Meta / Re: Signature spam threads. Should there be any punishment? on: August 28, 2019, 06:49:54 PM
It's not low effort spam I was talking about, but mainly pretty well constructed replies to idiotic questions. Some times it is hard (at lest for me) to distinguish between an user who actually wants to educate someone or just writes smth just for one more paid post. (or even both, who knows).
Also threads where many users keep posting the same reply over ond over.
I'll check and try to give some exact examples a bit later.

Also starting to wonder if I am paranoid or this issue really bothers others too  Cheesy
290  Other / Meta / Signature spam threads. Should there be any punishment? on: August 28, 2019, 03:58:49 PM
While reading around I saw lost of stupid threads (mainly just a dumb question like "why is bit[Suspicious link removed]d") and then a tsunami of pseudo-pertinent replies to maybe the dumbest question. I would just report to nuke, but others try, or at lest pretend to try to explain cryptography to what seems to be a zoo gorilla.
I would rate this as fraud.
1. Make new acc
2. Ask stupud question (but not that stupid so it will not be trashed)
3. Spam your sig few times

I know this is old news, but should there be any sort of punishment? Not suggesting heavy research but if a certain user is definitely the one who made the alt especially for sig spam... are there any repercussions? Sigban, temp-ban?

I understand it would be hard to prove (or not) but just got very annoyed about this and think would be good to have a punishment that fits the crime. If they know there is a 5-10% chance they would get caught, maybe we'll see less of these stupid threads.

Thoughts?
291  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Trying to buy large volumes of BTC with discount. on: August 22, 2019, 09:13:25 AM
Oh FFS... it's just a poor scam attempt !

Lets talk if you're OK with the below procedure.

1.   Buyer sends his letter of intent
2.   Seller confirms and accepts the procedure and shows Video and Screenshots of Bitcoin Wallet
3.   Buyer submits CIS and Initial POF
4.   Buyer and Seller set a time and date for the meeting. Buyer will reserve a VIP room at a HSBC branch in Hong Kong
5.   During the Table Top Meeting in Hong Kong, Buyer’s bank issues Cashier’s check making seller as the beneficiary of the said check and hands over to the seller or his representative inside the buyer’s bank.
6.   Seller will show wallet control. (Satoshi)
7.   Seller will transfer the bitcoin, and wait until fully transferred to the buyers bitcoin wallet
8.   Once the bitcoins are confirmed and delivered to buyer’s blockchain wallet, buyer’s bank wires the cash to seller’s bank account

9.   Seller or his representative returns the cashier’s check to the buyer or his representative after seller’s bank confirms the cash received in his account and the check is cancelled
10.   Payment in BTC will be released to intermediaries after every completed transact
11.   Next transaction begins….

This guy figured it out right away. Just curious why you still just throw random words here without the slightest research (2-3 more clicks
 in this case)

Lets talk if you're OK with the below procedure.

7.   Seller will transfer the bitcoin, and wait until fully transferred to the buyers bitcoin wallet
8.   Once the bitcoins are confirmed and delivered to buyer’s blockchain wallet, buyer’s bank wires the cash to seller’s bank account

SCAM!!
dude only foolish seller will do that. i guarantee no one coin owner will pull out their coin out of their wallet before recieve payment. that is big scam to tricky coin owner.
You tricky people by making complicated terms to looks legit with 1-6 points but the biggest action to scam is in point 7-8  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Mass adoption is not an easy feat
As A. Antonopoulos said ... "It took 400 years for the adoption of gold certificates instead of gold bars and about 50 years for credit cards to be a house whole name. Just give it time. It will get there" (paraphrasing from memory)

293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of new crypto Trojan Malware Saefko and InnfiRAT! on: August 11, 2019, 08:16:28 PM
... a good ideea would be to mark spoofed links...
Code:
 [url=https://youtube.com]https://google.com[/url]
In this case for the fake anns its Shows the link in Green because the links are going to github and there is the Problem because all fake anns have fake github Accounts that looking nearly the same as the original github!
And as i said earlier we just can report them now! Maybe its possible for theymos to Blacklist the bitbucket site! Havnt seen anyone that use them for source Code or other things, only some fake ann use them! Would be a good start to fight about them and safe some users some Action and losing there things like login Details and more!
I understand and saw/reported a few myself
What I was suggesting is something like this: instead of the old blue color a link normally has, color it red if spoofed

https://bitcointalk.org - keep it blue
Code:
https://bitcointalk.org
https://www.google.com - keep it blue
Code:
https://www.google.com
https://bitcoin.org - make it red
Code:
[url=https://www.youtube.com]https://bitcoin.org[/url]

It could help imo. Maybe a bit with fake/spoofed github repos and with anything else of that manner ...
294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of new crypto Trojan Malware Saefko and InnfiRAT! on: August 11, 2019, 05:56:06 PM
It's getting really crazy thb. Malware gets smarter, even hidden in images https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/lokibot-information-stealer-now-hides-malware-in-image-files/.
Speaking of fake ann... a good ideea would be to mark spoofed links. The way links light up in green if url redirects to another page on the forum, to be red if it is spoofed

 [url=https://youtube.com]https://google.com[/url]

296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uganda says cryptocurrency is risky on: August 11, 2019, 12:14:38 PM
Recently, there was news in the media that Russia will sponsor the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Uganda.  If this happens, it is quite possible that the government will undertake the construction of a Bitcoin mining farm.
Isn't it risky ?  Cheesy
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uganda says cryptocurrency is risky on: August 10, 2019, 08:01:00 PM
ROLF ! Sorry for the shitpost, but who ever asked Uganda for financial advice ? (no disrespect for Uganda citizens) Just one country you almost never think of who does not agree with the BTC philosophy. What a SHOCK !
BTW... Uganda’s unbanked communities = 80% of the total population source . Since 80% are unbanked they should not be reluctant to alternative methods. Let's cut the crap...
298  Other / Off-topic / Re: GitHub is shitty, why not a decentralized solution? on: August 10, 2019, 07:50:20 PM
Nice finding, but it won't work in this case (distributed/decentralized Git) because there's no version control or update content feature.

It might serve as documentation website which rarely needs to be updated though.
Was thinking about this all day. Thought it would be an interesting pet project. But when trying to learn more about this ... https://forum.bittorrent.com/forum/134-developer-discussion/ seems they killed the project Sad
I guess big companies like BitTorrent are not allowed to "mess" with the current status quo !
This sucks ...

I stand corrected again
Seems there is another project .... on github (the irony) https://github.com/xuset/planktos
From what I read there is no solution so far to shard the website into multiple torrents so it's not scalable and would pose an issue for bigger websites.
I would get involved in such a project and help however I can Smiley
299  Other / Off-topic / Re: GitHub is shitty, why not a decentralized solution? on: August 10, 2019, 08:29:55 AM
The only way there would be a GitHub Dapp version IMO would be if the website would be hosted on multiple servers, on users pc. Sort of a torrent system. They would keep the pc open to seed the website content and css. Not sure how you would do such thing, or if it would be possible (not that web dev savvy) but seems like the only way to me.

Edit: doing a bit of research it seems there is such an option: BitTorrent's Maelstrom. Not sure if they kept developing it enough...
