Precisely. LTC was, and is, a scam.

But, much like dogecoin, it proves to us that the fundamentals of how a crypto might work, as outlined by satoshi, are, in fact, not anywhere near as delicate as he thought.

Doge: Zero diff coin of infinite inflation has more market cap than we do, none of the users have any damn clue how it works or how fundamentally horrible it is, and it brings absolutely nothing to the table.

Lite: Calling yourself silver is all it takes to snatch up hundreds of millions in stupid peoples' money. Algo that is the 100% opposite of what it claims to be, nobody is smart enough to notice, brings nothing to the table.

Great summary Camo

It seems like we need a catchphrase to attract the masses. "E Pluribus Obscurum" sounds nice and the translations too, but can Latin appeal to the general public as well as the pure genius of "Such wow" or "The silver to Bitcoin's gold"?

What about, "Naughty, but nice!" Wink

edit: full credit to Salman Rushdie.

"Such Dark"
"Darkcoin. Privacy matters."
"Bitcoin - 2009. almost anonymous. almost instant.
Darkcoin - 2013. Anonymous. Instant.
"

Another one:
You do not need Darkcoin. You have nothing to hide.   Wink

Hi there, anyone knows what may be reason for only partially accessible MN?
It has looked like this for the last two days Sad

Looks like only RC version(sv03 and sv06) listed your MN.

I would suggest following.

1) stop darkcoind(remote and cold wallet)
2) remove peers.dat(remote and cold wallet)
3) start remote
4) start cold
5) send 1k to own MN address using coin control
(If address of MN is AAA, select AAA's 1K, and send 1K to AAA)
(No need to back up again)
6) Wait 7 confirmation
7) start Masternode

GREAT! Had the above issue for three days and got it all green after I followed the above steps.
Thanks for the clear instructions Chaeplin!

Has there been talk of reducing the number of coins for a masternode? I would love to be able to run one or two!

No - the number of coins will stay the same. The reward masternodes get might increase though which imo is great to create a financial equilibrium and strength for the MN network.

agree - would hate to run twice as many VPSes and have twice as much costs as I have know - actually that would cause some of us to drop MN. Like 1,000 as a round number Smiley

Have 2 things to say:

1) 20% MN payment is obviously too little to attract 2000 MNs and equally obviously - 25% won't make a big difference. How about we start with 50% and adjust upward or downward based on the result? The hashrate will drop by 20-70% which is NOT an issue as there are coins with 1% of DRK hashrate that still perform well in terms of securing the coin.

2) MN IP obfuscation - wouldn't it be easy to identify MN IP addresses by running NMAP against Microsoft/Amazon/VULTR VPS'es checking which ones are running services at port 9999?

Yeah, everything is dead. We're all dead, in a long run. Despite being dead myself, I just bought some more Darkcoins, for the fuck's sake, if nothing else.

This is the most exciting freedom & privacy related technological development in ages. Enjoy being a part of it and stop whining.

Let me have a wild guess - a Polish guy living in Dublin? :-)

Have fun.
FUCKING BUMP
Looks brilliant, once it is finished pls put it on Darkcoin.io - few people realise the level of innovation DRK has brought over the last few months!

Amazing difference on my DRK p2pool node since upgrading to the latest wallet........

Excellent work devs!  Smiley

Sorry, what exactly does this mean? Is there a real impact of going from 15 ms to 5?

Great, thanks Chaeplin, will wait one more day and if it still looks the same I'll do as you advise

I've had this a few times and it usually fixes itself if you just wait a few days, I've had MNs paid when they were completely greyed out there. If your MN reports :1 when you grep it in masternode list, don't worry about it. You can also tail your debug.log - you'll see if it's masternoding away or not.

Great to hear that, thanks!! I went through the confs, restarted nodes & servers a couple of times with no result.. Will give it a break for a few days Smiley

One of my masternodes has only been partially active for the last 2 days - only showing a green light on server 3 and server 6. I tried restarting it in the morning but it is still only partially active. It used to be all green before so there should not be an issue with the conf file and yes, I am using the latest version. Anyone has an idea what may be the issue?

Bad luck Ed.
And to think that I know of some people running hot masternodes on spot instances.  Lets hope they've got backups Cheesy

Are people still running hot masternodes? Why? Smiley

Have you ever tried running 70 remote setups? It's a maintainance hell...

Fair enough Vertoe, that explains it, thanks!

Hi there, in the wake of open sourcing comes a void filler - another of my basic MN security questions:

Is there any real danger in someone getting their hands on the remote config file with these values?

rpcuser=reallylongusername
rpcpassword=veryveryverylongpw
masternodeprivkey=7..._Masternode_Private_Key

the 1,000 DRKs should be still safe in the local wallet, right? Just want to be sure  Smiley

You cannot withdraw funds from your cold "wallet" without your wallet pass phrase.  Your funds are safe.

I personally prefer to treat all configuration files as if they are passwords.  The less known the better imho.  Its good practice.

Great, thanks guys!

http://shapeshift.io/

I put an unofficial feature request for BTC<>DRK running through the Master Nodes, which, now I find this service ^^, I can tell everyone about.

It's not guaranteed to be worked on, but I think that because of this service being available for LTC, and soon other alts, it will be worth keeping track of this service and pushing a little harder for something similar.

Being able to move from BTC>DRK>BTC for a very small fee to MNs would be a killer application (why would you need DarkWallet?), especially if we could effectively have wallets acting as BTC and DRK mini-exchanges / liquidity, and the MNs as the automatic escrow.

Make it so number 1

Is that service based on open source code?  If not, what makes it different from an exchange (other than a super simple interface)?

Apart from the simplicity that can not be underestimated it is absence of registration. People hate that stuff.
