OK, chaps.

The first DRK franchiseable venture is about to open.

We are starting with something we all need, and something all other coins will pay us for, in DRK. Wait and see.

Anyone will be able to participate in this first DRK franchise venture. There will be no heirachy.

You will be required to have a minimum 1000 DRKs that we can vet to make sure you are not trying to sybil attack the venture from one of those coins who shall not be named.  If you run a Master Node, you're good to go.

This first venture will be easy to operate, but will have a great deal of impact.

Before you decide to participate, you will be required to do stuff, like contribute. If you just want to participate as an observer / investor, probably not 100% for you. But we might come up with a model that can work for you.

I'm not looking for any investment or to raise capital. Any future funding capital will come from earnings that will be reinvested, with some profit distributions. SEC: I'm not selling any shares.

The chargable's seem to be "0.020 per On Demand Linux t1.micro Instance Hour" which was all on the "free tier" ?

I just feel like shutting down the account because I've got no clue how to tell if the services I'm consuming attract any charge or not.

Can anyone throw any light on this ?

Right, so the obvious course of action isn't doing anything like contacting AWS customer/billing support. That would be insane. The logical thing to do is come to the DRK thread and talk about it, because we can log in to our employee accounts at Amazon and check out your usage to see if there has been a mistake on Amazon's end.

Other user's experiences are at least as useful as what an employed support person tells you.

Bandwidth charges - Amazon isn't cheap.

So how much bandwidth does a masternode need anyway? How high is the traffic in GByte/month that goes thru a masternode on average and is ONLY darkcoin related?
I thought it can't be that high, ... so maybe the server was (ab)used for something else besides darkcoin?

I have two root servers, where I pay a fix amount of money every month, and where I get a constant access to a 100 MBit line. I use those servers for all my projects etc.. and plan on installing two masternodes on those servers when the time has come.
Is this advisable? Or should I have completely dedicated servers for the masternodes ONLY (nothing else running on the machines). I really assume that the traffic that goes thru masternodes is completely negligible compared to other things, and should therefor allow for other services to run on those servers, why not? Right?

if I'm not mistaken AWS limit is 1GB/month so it was pretty close on RC4 and before...

100kb/s constant means 8.6 GB/day, means 250 GB/month, right?
So 100kb/s down plus 200kb/s up would get me to the 750GB/month, that's why I assume that's what you meant?

It sounds to me like something got messed up in the setup?  I'd check with Amazon, and I'd complain that their system is extremely confusing, and get them to reverse those charges!!

Well I assumed the data was more constant but it is not.
So I can only give you RC5 masternodes running stats for 9 days:

MN1 - upload 8.8GB / download 6.1GB
MN2 - upload 7.2GB / download 7.4GB

Each MN I have on Amazon uses about 5-10GB/month bandwidth, from what I can make out, according to Amazon's figures.

About running a MN on a machine doing other stuff, just be aware that having other services running increases your vulnerability surface. If you're happy with that, and have the CPU/RAM/IO to spare then no reason why not.

You are not alone. Same thing is happening to me on my supposedly free EC2 instance. It was not free for August or September. I just now noticed due to your posting about it here. So thanks for the heads up!
