ARGH, my eyes hurt just looking at that one.
283  Other / Off-topic / Re: Vlad "plots" aginst best freind scammer Matthew N. Wright on: September 12, 2012, 02:35:00 PM
I'll have to disagree with you, Goat, consolidating the debt would make it easier to get everyone remaining on board for a big class-action suit, it would also streamline the payouts.

Dank, if you can answer all of Monster-Ant's questions sufficiently, you'll be able to get a loan no problem. Don't just ignore it because his negativity is harshing your buzz, it's called reality and you'll have to face it before your idea becomes more than a pipe dream. The way you're acting on, in some weird reality where you do get the business started, you'll just drop all pretense of operating it and just make use of the facilities because it's real work and it's harder than you expected it would be. Then you'll lose your building and be wondering what happened, while some college kids pick up cheap hookahs at your going out of business sale.

Seriously, draft up a floor plan using the building you're looking at, spend some time doing some proper research into what all you'll need.

It feels less like scamming and more like an instance of gross incompetence. We need an idiot business owner tag for borderline cases.

trying to convince anyone who will listen that teaching a 17 year old model about bitcoin somehow means I am a pedophile
Is it normal that you as a teacher, film underage students in their underwear and publish this online ?

Since there seems to be a few recurring misconceptions floating around, I'll try to shed some more light on them if I can:

  • I believe the video was recorded by an amateur photographer friend of hers.
  • Cultural differences aside, the video is neither sexual nor pornographic in nature. I definitely appreciate the concerns of her well-being by the community and encourage more involvement with her career, but ultimately I fail to see any endangerment of any sort. I feel this is mostly a non-issue that has been inflated with FUD by those of certain religious affiliations as there is obviously no legal issue with the content in question in Korea or anywhere else to the best of my knowledge. For those who would consider a 17 year old girl wearing a shirt and panties on a 12 second video to be shocking, I fear a heart-attack is imminent upon learning of the following internationally publicized activity: Miley Cyrus's 9-year-old sister launching a lingerie line for kids.
  • I can obviously contact her myself and advise her against doing videos of this nature in the future based on concerns raised by the community, but it is of course better if the community voices this opinion to her uploaded video page directly. I believe her parents are her acting managers at this moment so it is probably an issue best discussed with them until she is 18.
  • I haven't worked in education since 2010. I only work in Bitcoin now and I've never been happier.  Cheesy

You. Are. A. Pedophile.

The proper response to Matthew

289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MATTHEW N. WRIGHT IS A SCAMMER on: September 09, 2012, 07:27:30 PM
Theymos,

Can we get a clarification on the Scammer tag. Mathew N Wright may have welched on his bet but did he actually scam any one.  Is Mathew N Wright actually in possession of any of the funds from the bets?   If not I would think he can be labeled a welcher, but not a scammer.    A little clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks.

it was one of the conditions of his bet:

Anyone (including myself) who renigs on their bets will be labeled a scammer on the forums. Theymos will retain the IP addresses of everyone who has committed here and as you are marked a scammer for not paying, you will also be reported to the bitcoin police and tracked

So he's getting reported to the bitcoin police then?

The title of his bet topic said he'd be giving 100% ROI to people who thought it was a scam. That alone is grounds for making the bet under false pretenses and he should be deemed guilty. I'm sure it would hold up in court.

Not a very good scammer either. Pirate, mybitcoin, Bruce Wagner, et al, got away with tons of money, Matthew got nothing.

You'd think that a guy championing this great of a bet would be on when the clock rolled over.

It seems he confused his timezone(KST) with GMT+1 Roll Eyes
You need to wait till 16:49:20 GMT+1, so, 8 hours from now.
No, he clearly stated 04:49:20 PM KST, it's now after 5 over there.

The original OP states that the bet ends 3 weeks after August 19, 2012, 04:49:20 PM, so that means it ends on September 9th, 2012, 04:49:20 PM KST (Korean Standard Time, local to me). I think I had mentioned a slightly longer deadline elsewhere on IRC out of confusion (September 12th perhaps?), but this is incorrect as you can clearly see. The bet will also end if Pirate has provided proof of paying back all (not 99.9%) of his obligated debts and interests per agreements, whichever comes first.

Ok Matthew, time to pay up.

Matthew, if you refuse to pay my bet, you will feel my wrath.

Did the article get smaller? Huh

I think they cut the factual parts and evidence.
Here's the guy who keeps doing it, seems like he's a content removal nut.
299  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: pirate payments list -- accounts paid: 23/459 on: September 08, 2012, 07:04:58 AM
Heh, got banned from the pirate irc channel for switching my nickname too often for their liking. Yet Matthew gets to troll it unrestrained.

Look, I want in on this action. I haven't done anything trollish so I don't see why you're rejecting my wager.

if I receive bet winnings, the first thing I do will be to purchase a magazine. Or at least donate.
I'd buy a magazine too if I won, I don't see why not. And one of those casascius (fake edit: had to go check the spelling) bitcoins as well, to commemorate the victory.
