281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you give your life for Bitcoin? on: January 20, 2014, 09:54:55 AM

Am going to continue reading, seems very interesting indeed. But I must quote:

Quote
Flip through any history book and you will see that most of the injustice and destruction that has occurred throughout the world was not the result of people “breaking the law,” but rather the result of people obeying and enforcing the “laws” of various “governments.”

Wow. Certainly a different way to think if it. Mind somewhat blown just by that alone
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nominate Satoshi as a saint on: January 19, 2014, 05:28:45 AM
Whatever you say about satoshi he must be the most humble guy I've ever heard of. IF he is still alive, I'm sure there's someone that knows him personally and what he created... Probably going mad at him like "BUT YOU HAVE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHY NOT CASH OUT?!?!" I imagine him sitting there all smug just like "nahhh... that's not the point dude".  Cool

I have a Zimbabwean friend who I used to be very close with when we were young. As I got to know him more I found out about his past and history from when he lived in Zimbabwe. Turns out his dad was a very powerful man, and owned a number of goldmines. I found out later that his dad had passed away and left everything to my friend, he was his only son. But my friend refused to accept anything from him, for reasons I still don't understand... He wasn't a very nice person by the sounds of it but when I found out about it I was like "BUT FUCKING GOLDMINES!!!! They could be yours man! Just sell them and live a good life!!" He didn't listen... Eventually all assets where claimed by the Mugabe regeim.... FUCK. Sad
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dilemma of FBI coins on: January 18, 2014, 04:27:23 AM
I don't think anyone is going to purchase millions of dollars worth of bitcoin from the FBI.... Anyone with that kind of cash is very suspect to say the least. The kind of people the FBI work hard to stop. Hell, any transaction over 10,000 in the UK must be accounted for right? It kind of goes against everything they have been trying to do to supress bitcoin. Double standards ftw?!

287  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for small 0.025 BTC loan repay .030 on: January 16, 2014, 07:36:24 AM
All looks good from here, I'll be on and off line throughout the day and hope to be able to make this happen tomorrow, I await the bill.

You are going to wait until you receive the bill before you donate?

Why not contact the vet directly, give your credit card, and state you authorize up to a $1,000 payment towards the treatment of the dog?  That way you can't be scammed.

Yes Vod, that is my plan, I`m waiting on the bill and then I will make it happen, as you suggested and as I mentioned a few posts earlier. Thanks for looking out though! much respect!

I may be looking to pay in bitcoin though, if I can find someone on here whos willing to take my btc and pay by CC than that would put a smile on my face even more as I like to use my BTC to help others more then I like to support Visa.

some people may be wondering why I'm doing this.. I mean its a really new account this guy has and a sob story which normally screams SCAMMER, but I got a good feeling about this one when I saw the first pics posted. I`m sure this is all un the up and up but if by chance its a scam, its a gotta be a good one to get by me.

I have had dogs my whole life, I always took in strays and shelter dogs, I once got a dog who was sick from the get-go. I spent over 10K trying to make his life better then it was which was filled with pain. In the end we lost the battle. He was born sick with major hip problems and a killer case of demodex.

Hopefully some early adopters such as myself will come through and anti up the remaining few hundred needed, either way the vet is getting a grand tomorrow.

I'll throw down a couple hundred bucks. Bitcoin only though I'm afraid, not an awful lot of access to my fiat at the moment. Am currently sitting on the rocks on Koh Samui, Chilling to some live reggae music, surrounded by all sort of pooches and puppies. It's truly paradise here!

OP: Shall I send you a donation to the address you posted or are you/we going down different route for payment now?
288  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for small 0.025 BTC loan repay .030 on: January 16, 2014, 06:48:14 AM
Aww shucks man, Do you still need a btc donation? I'm more than happy to help your pooch out Wink

Just keep trying man. This happened to me once. The password is in your head somewhere... Just don't drive yourself too mad! And make/upload a backup somewhere safe & secure asap.

Good luck! I hope you and your bitcoins are reunited some day.

There would be much MUCH bigger things to worry about than bitcoin collapsing if there was a worldwide power outage.

293  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: UK PEOPLE! WHERE DO YOU CASH OUT / PURCHASE FROM! on: January 11, 2014, 02:38:18 AM
localbitcoins always works a charm for me. Never had any problems. Funds deposited straight to your bank account.

What I really don't understand is why they don't show us the wallets they were using at the time. That would clearly show all of their (our) btc leaving the wallets at the time of the so called attack. Why are they showing absolutely zero proof of any kind of attack/robbery?!?!
295  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: January 09, 2014, 09:43:24 AM

Sure, but the car is in the USA right now:)

I wonder how many bitcoins you cashed out… and how many left in your hand…
and maybe at what price ?…

Not as much as you'd think, I frittered them when they were cheap(£50-80!) What an idiot!!

Just enough though.... just enough Wink
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Thank you satoshi. on: January 04, 2014, 10:33:24 AM
Thanks to bitcoin I am now in paradise taking a much needed break from life and it's immense stresses. This is my view as I write this on my iPad (also bought with bitcoin!)

2013 has been a very rough year for me and it finished up with my first love leaving me just before Christmas! So I made the decision to gtfo of here for a while... Spent a weekend in Amsterdam and am now travelling the beautiful islands of Thailand. Currently on Koh Samui, arrived today.

Without the bitcoin I amassed from my Avalon (thanks Yifu) I would still be in miserable cold England paying huge amounts of rent/bills and working 75+ hours to pay for it. Whilst getting over the hardest and worst thing that has ever happened to me. I made the decision to cash out most of my reaming bitcoin for this trip and I regret nothing. Looking forward to my X3 arriving in Feb so I can hopefully continue this trend.

Thank you bitcoin. You fucking life saver, literally.

Does anyone else have any stories like this? Done anything life changing with your stash?? Please partake...
