since this site has been offline so much time,  Betcoincircle.tm is a great alternative, it has more circles and is running ok, people have won more than 15,995 BTCs here.

BetCoin is a fraud. Steals the work of other people, lies about statistics and performance, and is quite possibly the actual entity which is attacking both SatoshiCircle and other sites with which it's trying to compete.

It's no accident I posted my accusation directly below the Try Betcoin instead post...direct competitors are the first I'd investigate.

Sustained DDOS eh?...this is the longest running DDOS I have ever encountered, save maybe the playstation network attacks.  This is either a competitor or some sort of government entity rather than an individual is my guess, seems odd they would target this site with such ferocity...which leads me to believe it's a competitor or brick and mortar casino sick of the awesome crypto alternatives.

This is purely speculative, but why else would you expend time or resources to weaken one little gaming site for this long?  It's been at least a week and a half now.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 23, 2013, 09:16:45 PM
ripple confuses the shit out of me. I opened an account long ago, but it wouldn't let me do much. I had to have someone lend me some ripples, but to do this I had to open a gateway.  In order to open a gateway, I needed to have ripple in my account. Seemed like a never ending loop of unnecessary-ness, so I gave up on it. Is there an easy way to get my hands on some XRP? And can I do this without being in debt?

This little paradigm is seemingly the same frustration the guy following my guide had issue with...

Can anyone confirm that my workaround via buying XRP with USD in Bitstamp and sending to the ripple wallet will work as the initial funding?

As soon as I have confirmation on how to break this catch22 cycle, it'd help all XRP holders if we can point noobs to a guide like the one I wrote to help them navigate...once in play...it's way easier...but getting there can be tricky.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=297326.0

I was tempted to do as Pankkake did and just send some to the guy...but I thought it would be better if we could find a solution that needs no third party.

Yes I've done this a few times when I've opened new ripple accts. You just buy a token amount through Bitstamp (100-300 XRP) and then your ripple client is ready to go and you can assign trusts and do trades, etc.

Sweet, I'll update my thread...seemed like a reasonable way to go about it.

Anyone else hear the Gorillaz song "The Future is Coming on" in their heads when thinking about Ripple?  Maybe it's just me.

XRP is useless...but not for long.

285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advanced (order book) trading for XRP using Bitstamp and the Ripple Client on: September 20, 2013, 07:43:51 PM
Update...so far I've had a report that this process didn't work for someone because they needed to have XRP in their account to grant trust to the Bitstamp gateway.

My proposed solution was to send some btc to his bitstamp account, trade a small amount into usd (ie BTC0.01) directly on Bitstamp, then use the USD to XRP market price on Bitstamp to purchase some XRP straight into the receive address in his Ripple wallet (all of which happens on Bitstamp).

He sent this in reply:

"So I followed all the steps and think its correct but missed another step being that of how to set the base currency issuer? Just used my recieve address for that as well under the start of the trade tab so I could even get the order book to come up. Well something is wrong cause sending btc from stamp is failing."

I don't know where his issue lies...if anyone can help, please post so I can update this thread.  Does anyone know what the minimum XRP amount is to allow trust to be given?  Is BTC0.01 too low...I figured that would yield around 100 XRP, and figured that would be enough to let him access the advanced order book, but I was just guessing...should it be more?  Like BTC0.05?

I will probably be doing this again soon and update my post with screenshots to make it more clear, though if you literally follow the directions in order, it should work.

Definitely using Chrome at the time.  I don't know how the guy got in exactly...but I had been on this site...and reading about how it was sold to someone who infected it with malware made much more sense than any other thing I've done that might have left me vulnerable.
288  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Malware alert: Listentobitcoins on: September 19, 2013, 10:54:54 PM
This all occurred right around the same time lots of forum members started putting up sock puppets as their picture, as many accounts became sock puppets after passwords became compromised.

The posts made with my account lead me to believe the hacker was obviously a forum member, and possibly fairly good at coding...or at least using vicious code capable of stealing your shit.  He also appeared to have a fascination with all things gambling.  I'll bet some of the senior members are starting to recognize his poor grammar and continued unpleasant posts.

He also posted on some rather shady threads already on this site...like forum account purchasing threads and debt threads where he talked about getting information illegally.

If he's capable of doing this to a bunch of bitcoin nerds...lookout real world...cause this bastard is smarter than a malicious person should be.  Probably lacking in the hugs department as a child.
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 19, 2013, 10:14:19 PM
Yes Bitstamp jacked up their price about 30% in the last few hours.  It is about .015 when you can get XRP for about .01 right now.

do you use the $125 bitcoin value from bitstamp for this? I don't see the trades dropping below 12000 XRP/1 BTC inside the ripple client, ever, which at $139 gox weighted average would be 0,0115 USD per Ripple. Sad Also far more than this site reports: http://www.rippleprice.com/

11,501 is what RippleCharts is currently tracking...and that seems to be straight from the Ripple orderbook I've been posting about...I watched as one of my orders instantly changed the price on the chart from within the ripple client.

Don't use market price buys with built in exchange fees...use the order book and name your price:

Ultimately you have to ask yourself... Why is the OP sharing this information with you, if not to his/her advantage?

It was to my advantage.

Bingo. You're increasing the hype and trying to get people to buy into your little pet coin. In all probability you're driving up the price as much as possible before you cash out (Right before everyone finds out that the reality was less than ideal) or you've been paid off by Opencoin Inc. to give glowing and encouraging praise and bring new lambs to the slaughter. Either way, you Judas goats foam at the mouth a bit too much when speaking of your holy pyrite.

Lol...yes...I was paid by OpenCoin, when they said, give us your ripple address and we'll send you some free.  Since then, I've liked the project...then I actually used it, and I liked it more...and in the past few days I've picked up a bit more...first time I've actually put anything in other than a forum post.  Guess what...the price is doing great and continues to rise...and guess what, I'm very pleased about it.

In fact I wrote this tutorial on how to buy with an order book so you can set your own price and hopefully pay less than bitstamp pricing:

This may be how my Bitcointalk forum account was hacked...I just saw this thread, and considering the guy that hacked my account was clearly a forum member already...this makes some level of sense.  My account was hacked back on July 10th, and I had been using the listen to bitcoins site prior to that at work because I thought it was cool to hear my money becoming worth more with the low tones indicating large purchases.

Thought that mystery would stay a mystery, but I have a strong feeling this is how he got in.  Now if only we could figure out who he is...tar and feathers at the ready men!

Glad I figured out the buy orders option, I love it when sell-offs result in better prices for things I was planning to buy!

In case you'd like to learn to buy XRP with an orderbook rather than market price, this is a guide I made about how to use Bitstamp as a gateway and buy using the ripple client order book.  This is for advanced trading with the ability to set bid and ask prices, if you don't know what that is, stick with market price.

294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: September 19, 2013, 06:36:46 PM
Alt coins are quickly becoming useless as the last few months price trend has shown. Novelty? Yes. Anything worth really mining.. not really unless you sell every single coin asap.

I'd have to agree...trading is where it's at now.  Most miners will not see much of a ROI...it's the shovel sellers that are profiting now.

Which alt coins can be mined with block erupters?

Anything SHA-256 is an ASIC mine-able coin.

Hi spinners -

Just a quick update from us: the site continues to fluctuate, and has yet to stabilize, but we are hard at work and making great progress.
Any deposits made during this period will be accounted for, no worries - and I will fund all new requests as soon as we are back up and solidly spinning again!

We can't thank you enough for your support and patience!  I look forward to sharing good news very soon Smiley

Good, because I've got my girlfriend addicted and she needs her fix!

nope, but it will move freely from bitstamp to ripple...haven't yet tried the reverse order.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP climbing on open source and ZipZap news! UPDATE - up 83% and climbing on: September 19, 2013, 06:07:05 PM
Please note, I did not use the word "Advanced" lightly.

You need to be familiar with BTC-e style order books to use this properly...but you almost always get more by buying at the price you name, than the price they set.

If you're planning to buy ripple, don't buy in bulk from bitstamp, they will rip you off big time. Just buy enough to activate trading on your ripple account. Do your research before touching ripple or you will regret big time.

Please see this post...Bitstamp is still quite useful as the Gateway, and so far they don't appear to have really taken fees when I did it this way, if they did, it was practically imperceptible, and imho the negligible cost of doing business as the price keeps climbing.  Grin

299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advanced (order book) trading for XRP using Bitstamp and the Ripple Client on: September 19, 2013, 06:01:06 PM

How do I send BTC to my ripple wallet?  Cant seem to figure it out... :s

Via Bitstamp as the gateway...see step one.

The orderbook here is in fact the Bitstamp orderbook.  The "trusted source" is adding access to it through the ripple client, that is why I said if the order book appears, you did it correctly.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advanced (order book) trading for XRP using Bitstamp and the Ripple Client on: September 19, 2013, 05:58:10 PM
Thanks for the tutorial.  I already bought some  ripples at the Bitstamp price and sent them to my ripple wallet.  I want to try buying some more by sending BTC from my bitcoin wallet to my ripple wallet and buying them there in the ripple wallet.  If I fund my ripple wallet with BTC from my bitcoin wallet will it appear really fast or does that only happen from bitstamp?

Almost instantaneous  Cheesy

Probably my favorite part of using Ripple.
sounds like my grandma won't be using ripple anytime soon

Nope...I didn't say it was easy...this is the advanced method...the BTC>USD>XRP method is "easy" but you are subject to Bitstamp's market rate, which according to some reports can be up to 30% higher than current rates on the Ripple client itself.

BTW, once you have it listed as a trusted source, you can skip most of the steps and simply withdrawal to ripple...as long as you have it "trusted" for at least as much as you plan to send.
