Just think if somebody could take sleek poker software like full tilt or pokerstars, and create a MEC platform for it.
That would be huge.
Even for BTC, besides Satoshi poker, you have all of these Mavens/Briggs copycat sites running around out there. There isn't anything "that good" in terms of modern poker software with crypto payment funding.
Hmm...

@v9t9 - I agree, MEC has the possibility of being the first to implement Zerocoin. An entire class of BTC users conceptually could decide to insta-migrate to MEC just for that reason. BTC could obviously do the same, but in this business it's all about being first.
So many possibilities.

Right, we are definitely in need of an economy. Simple casino games (win MEC/lose MEC) are way overdone, and really just seem to contribute to the downfall of the community who might believe that there really is nothing better to do with the coin, so go ahead and gamble it. I've been thinking that a community auction site might be a good addition (in addition to online shops of course). Something like BTC's bitmit.net. It definitely encourages transaction-type activity and gets users more comfortable with the idea of using it for everyday purchases. Fiat exchange, yes in our land of the free and home of the brave, very few have the means to be complicit in the licensing and regulations required to get things off the ground. So nice of our government to stifle technology and progress in the name of money laundering and terrorism, while concurrently making sure that only people with extreme money can be "money transmitters" but I digress, I know I am preaching to the choir on that one. A development forum/topic @ cryptocointalk would be pretty cool, it sounds like we can definitely help kick things up a few notches in terms of real-world use. I'm proud to possibly be the first user to participate in a MEC transaction for a tangible item (pizza of course) - and if anyone has a provable transaction prior to mine please share (and brag!)

Yes, what do you think....about a day and a half to burn through those blocks? It's definitely time to put some meaningful discussion back at the forefront What are your thoughts on post-block-63005? I don't think there is a shortage of MEC out there, I don't see any reason for a market reaction involving an immediate price spike. A price spike would slow us MEC buyers/hoarders down a little, I suppose. I've seen the simple reasoning of, "well the subsidy is halved, supply dries up, so price must go up" but I'm a pretty firm believer that supply doesn't create demand. Demand creates demand. Thoughts?

I thought you said that you were done responding. Why are you still here?
Your continued Avast trolling makes the community look bad. People have to read past your garbage to find information that is actually useful.
Here is the way I look at it. MEC is here to stay, the community will grow because MEC has intrinsic value. Your continued Avast trolling has no value.
Please do us all a favor and stick to your word. There is no need for you to respond to this...
EDIT: all is well and we don't need you cause MEC is the best. If you want to take your 50 cents and invest it in something, try the stock market. This is a crypto coin community.

Sorry, I'll stop 1-upping your bids. he he... Just kidding, it's not me. I loaded up a few days ago.

The point is that he continues to troll Avast nonsense.
He needs to be asked to leave, whether you like it or not. It has nothing to do with the good of the coin.

I totally love the thought process. Avast can do no wrong. It's impossible. An end user downloads Avast, and downloads Megacoin. OBVIOUSLY Megacoin is the problem. Duh, it's that simple IT people, don't you get it!? If Avast flags it, the universe has spoken and the wallet software is an obvious black hole. Do you realize how many different antivirus programs there are out there? How about I develop my own antivirus software that flags every file that it encounters as being suspicious. You could then call out every known file to man as a being a problem, and claim that dev needs to go fix it. False positives are duly noted, but never something I've considered critical, ever. For all we know, Avast itself could release a new definitions file and the "issue" could completely disappear, all at no wasted expense of the dev. Likewise, new updates and definitions files could show up at any time and flag the Bitcoin wallet as being a virus. That is just the way things work, deal with it. This has progressed from complete lack of common sense to complete and utter trolling. Be gone troll, I again recommend that you do immediately trade your computer for a toaster.

You know, if the pizza companies have a pizza-ordering API I could totally build this. Customer sends MEC to a unique address. Await confirmations. Sell MEC instantly (since pizza guys don't accept MEC yet). Send automated API hit to order pizza (use CC or pre-arranged payment method). Display order confirmation number to customer (let them call pizza place directly if there are non-payment-related issues). Hot steamy fresh pizza arrives. I don't like the "Sell MEC instantly" part, but since pizza guys are USD I suppose there is no choice in the matter for the purposes of this sort of business Totally do-able.

Most intelligent answer. Thank you.
It's the same thing that everyone else told you. Congratulations on finally at least giving us the illusion that you understand.

Just went above .00007. the only thing is they are buying too fast.. its like asking to be dumped on its supposed to be general rise in value, not a pump I don't think anyone is buying too fast. My problem is I can't buy fast enough. There are less than 1450 blocks to the next reduction. No doubt in my mind The Kimoto Gravity Well will work as planned. The smart money is buying now. Wake me up when MEC hits .007 and I might buy a pizza or something. For now I think you would have to be pretty clueless to be a seller. Per bholzer's conjecture, I think the odds are excellent that Megacoin will be sitting above FTC soon. I also agree catching LTC will be a very big job, and take time. But with a successful Zerocoin implementation it wouldn't surprise me to see MEC rapidly become the most popular investment grade coin. I will literally sell you that delicious hot pizza, for MEC. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240861.msg3103734#msg3103734 Like I said, I may buy a pizza when MEC hits .007. We just hit .00007 again. http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/simplefuture.html

Have you done any searching for "Avast" and Win32:Evo-gen Maybe considered that it could be a false positive? I don't mean to be rude, but I will anyways... nobody cares "specifically" what Avast thinks. If it is a false positive, there is no critical reason for dev to fix anything. Think about your audience... most of us have the wallet, miner software, etc.... and I'm sure most of us also have antivirus software installed. Do you really think that if this was virus-ridden that we would be using it at all? You can get the wallet by starting here... http://www.megacoin.co.nz/downloadsI just checked it, links to sourceforge... Good luck to you... whether you decide to use it or not.

Nobody is trying to convince you to participate in MEC. Nobody needs to convince you that it isn't a virus.
If you're not smart enough to figure it out for yourself, please immediately trade your computer for something more your speed, like a toaster.

Please continue to be suspicious, and DO NOT download. More MEC for us.... lol...

I'll miss the 125 MEC blocks also. However I won't miss them as much as I miss those juicy 500 MEC blocks.
