2801  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 09:21:08 PM
I thought they would at least mount the heatsinks on the new boards. When I saw they were going to offer
these kits. Now it doesn't seem like such a great deal.

they can't  because of how the upgrade works to me i rather they did not mount them  but as they prefect it and put out more upgrades well see better improvements in how to do it etc .
2802  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 09:16:08 PM
I wonder if that will make much difference in the temp compared to a real S3+

polly not just noise i would think it is actually a S3 but a upgrade kit with out a controller and a case. its is a real S3 just not the full  S3 .

Upgrades of any kind in my 20 years of  building PC etc are about the same .  all these are is a PC that are made to do one thing .
2803  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 08:29:39 PM
I thought it was supposed to come with a cover?

sadly no that might make it cost more those covers the S3 uses are  nice  not the best but nice . if you watched the video and read the parts offered it just a upgrade and  a real upgrade .
2804  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 12:13:12 PM
Does it use the same CGMiner or do we flash the unit to an S3?

the upgrade i think video say's the controller mount for the upgrade convert it to A s3 . I was told when I got  my email from the US vendor i bought my S3 from that they are  gonna release a Firmware up date   that upgrades to the latest version of CGMiner 4.6.0 or later what ever is out when they DO Imo i wish it would Include bfgminer to i like BFGmner more no offense intended to the DEV of cgminer.

I'm guessing but yea you need to update the controller once it is  mounted sense I have tryed to use a S3 firmware on a S1 board  some thing on the mount makes it seen as a S3 .

2805  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Upgrade Kit on: September 18, 2014, 11:32:57 AM
I have not seen this clarified so I will add it.

You do not have to get the 2 units of the kits from Bitmain, YOU CAN GET JUST 1 UNIT directly from bitmain, and here's how you do it.
1. Got to the bitmain website and select to buy the kit.
2. Go to the checkout and complete the order for the 2 units MOQ.
3. If you chose to pay with bitcoin, when you get the address to make payment, send bitcoins for 1 unit, i.e 046 BTC
4. Optionally, you can add a note in the Notes section that you only want 1 unit.

Cool ty il do just that i only want one for now and will pay cash later on .

Someone Can Please Help!
I have 2 broken control boards of my old Antminers S1. I need these boards to the Ugrade Kit?

Please inform which part of old Antminer S1 will be in use in new Upgrade Kit, it seems everything is in Upgrade Kit. Nothing of my old antminers - except the support structure - will be recycled even the old fans are not in use with the new Kit, correct?

yuo tube video just how it works Smiley .

Sense bitmain has two videos on YouTube how the upgrade works it seems to upgrade from a S1 to S3  you need the S1 controller, both heat sinks unless you oped to water cool i think those heat sink should work the old screws form the Old hash boards the frame from the S1 unless you plan to customize a case around the upgrade or use a custom case if you have one .T paste then your set so i can see were using the old hash boards still might have  some use left not much but some.

I think they did a really nice job with the up grade i for one plan to get two kits or working on getting two .  My S 3 will be here some time next week , i want the up grade more now not for the hash power more  for the Uber  fun of doing it  and ofc for the hash power . i did read some place S2 user will get a upgrade kit  just no eta yet with speeds up to 2 TH .
2808  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 18, 2014, 10:27:16 AM
Yep while cutting the total network hash is a wonderful idea, it will never happen. Try to convince Intel, Microsoft, IBM or Swissbank to turn off some hashing power. Yeah "Hey guys that new $44 million server center you just built? Mind turning off half?" LOL
Just in NY and Connecticut there are companies building new centers due on line by Nov that will have an additional 14 PHs of additional mining power. (That's not counting whatever Intel is building, cause they never announce it or even discuss it).

true there is no way to stop it and really it was never meant to be stopped if the documentary i watch two weeks ago is right on Bitcoins its gonna be here another 100 years or so if it does not lose value in the market etc.

if they notice the hard ware is getting more efferent and using less power and producing less heat getting more user friendly and cheaper , out of all the complaint i see and try to not say any thing i have yet to see anyone point out to any real degree what I just said .

it's not gonna slow down that's the point it's not meant to Smiley . and hardware will get cheaper and company will get the upper hand but the potential to make money at home will all way be there just not like it was . i see this not as the great gold rush as some like to put it because the great gold rush was some thing of a diff nature if you think about it .

but any way we might as well get use to it and get ready for more faster and cheaper hardware sure there all ways be that cutting edge stuff only the lucky few get to try before it goes main stream but that's just how it is.

2809  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 18, 2014, 03:42:25 AM
So lately iv been watching the diff prediction rise.    It started at like 31 its now 35-38  and I have a feeling when it comes for diff ride it will be at around 42-46.   I thinks is on have like 5 levels in 28hrs or less.   And by the looks of it, its not going to drop, slow down or stop rising anytime soon.

The higher the diff, the more miners people add,   and the so called "only way" to lower it is for miners to be turned off.
So this is why i have a feeling it'll be 42-48 by the time it finLly changes.

I'm not loosing hope.  The hope is there, just loosing hope of it dropping or stopping anytime soon.

My theory is,  with your own miners  everyone who runs more than 5th/s turn off ur miners and reduce the speed to 1-5th/s and keep ur miners ready for when and if price rises or diff shootsnthrough the roof.

Instead of adding more and more and more miners to keep up with diff,    turn half your miners off so diff drops thus doubling your profit(I'm pretty sure)

We here at slushs are a family.   And as a family were strong and were lucky.    But diff won't drop or slow down anytime soon with more and more people turning onnmore miners.

Thanks.

You do realize there is 248 TH on the network, it will never happen. Enjoy while you can as home mining will be nothing but a hobby in the not to distant future. Just the nature of the beast.

No I do realize.  But alllll of this can be fixed by people simply... Reducing there speed.   That doesn't mean just slush users.   It means EVERYONE.      Cut urnspeed in half, save btc, increase profitability.

I understand it all, but everyone halving there speeds would double maybe triplenour profits.   But since that won't happen.   I guess going broke to try and make moneybis the big thing now in bitcoin world.

Hobby, it already is a hobby.   And one hell of a hobby.   Started a few weeks ago, made some money but seems with btc/ $ drop and diff constantly rising every single day.  Maaking IT dead hard TO ROI.

Unless people were smart and and halved there.mining speed.    And suffer low rewards for ahwile so we can get lower diff.  Butnsince nobody seems to think like that.

SUFFER AWAY.  Seems to be what everyone likes to do

Complains about slow blocks, slow or low payouts lower payouts eTC.     Well. Why are you complaining...... The solutions to fix it all are out there but  ppl just  keep complaining or.... Let's just buy more miners increase my speed....... Causingnhigher diff causing longer blocks or smaller payouts.

I'm just in this to make a few hundred $  possibly hopefully a few thousand $$    or at least break even

FOR I have spoken my 2 sense into this.

I like this hobby, its great for my ADHD.   Always got stuff to do things to check on, math tobdo.      Keeps the hands and the head busy, works for me as long as I can break even  and make a few bucks after that is all I care about.

exactly, why i do it is a really fun hobby atm i don't have ADHD but am disabled to the point i can't work and my DR won't let me go back to work ive tried but he won't let me so this keeps my mind jumping . and i all i hope for is to break even and make a little extra change on the side, I'm set . The days of getting rich off this are all but over unless you want spend like what may be 40 k for the hardware.

Will the firmware in these support p2pool?

Also, Please ensure the firmware contains the latest version of cgminer - no more security vulnerabilities!!!

+1  Cool

why not both CGMiner and BFGMiner some of us like both or one over the other .

I've checked out a few of the Hashing Centers in Washington.  0.03/kwh... Awesome price until they tell you ambient cooling and 2 year contract up front....  I think it's hard to predict the future of BTC.  Like most have stated: It's been a lot of fun.  When I broke 100Th/s I was pretty happy.  Figuring out how much I had to reinvest to maintain payouts... What a bitch.

Don't lose too much in this hobby/passion.  When you get to the point that your hardware is paid for, try and use self control ;-)

At the end of each month I have more in the trading account than I have to pay out ( My hosting company takes bitcoin of course ).  When I get too far into the math it can be discouraging or disappointing.  I'm sure lot of people enjoyed extra pocket money.  Even a few lucky people did it for a living.  I think everyone who tried it had fun.

Lip

Good advice my plan exactly back off its diff fun right now for sure but i can see were it can become a nite mare if i count  on it which i don't plan to . i just want to break even which i do see coming and make a little extra .

all i need . i have a income from retirement when it's cuts into that then it's time to stop . so far it been fun and paying for it self .

Oyea I'm not one to worry about cost or number we all lose something some way . if i looked a head at what i might spend i might as well stop now .

I have no plans to do any data center contacts unless its the monthly ones ( pay as you go)  just for fun. I looked at a few i pay fees + i have to buy a contact for x mount of time  what got me was the fee 1 or 2 % on top of the 500 to 1000 i might spend for speed that would pay for it, + no backup during that time they won't go under due to over spending on there part etc etc so home mining is there .

btw i just looked, i can renew my power plan for another 36 month now in Maryland for 8.16 per kW hour so were gonna hold off till Nov to see what the next round of prices will be for next year.

This is good  advice Smiley.
2812  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 16, 2014, 03:29:46 AM
Cripes,I'm dumbfounded,, I left CEX to come here about 3 months ago and was making over 6 dollars a block.
At that price I needed 2+ blocks to cover my power costs.  now I need just over 4 blocks to cover my nut.
When the hashing skyrocketed a few days ago I  would have need 10 blocks to break even.
With the historical average being 4-5 or 5-6 depending on whos doing the math this place has suddenly gone by the wayside.
With just over $3.00 a block there is no way I can make money here anymore.

So unless BTC jumps dramatically I'm afraid our days are done here.

My suggestion to everyboby here is to take a good look at your costs and be honest with yourself.
Are you REALLY making a profit or just hoping things will get better.

If the huge hash jump last weekend is any  indication as to what is about to happen when these monster machines come on line next month
I think you better start getting your E-bay ads ready, I know I am.
Later
Bob

As long as btc is as low as it is nobody is making money unless you have free gear and free power. I mine for speculation and the fun of it. I look at it if 5 years from now btc is trading at 1500 a coin it was a hobby that made me some good money, if it tanks I had fun doing it. My biggest problem is controlling the urge to keep buying hardware. I started with 2 red furys and have 9.2 th now.

Bob pm me and I will give you a pool I ran across that you might be interested in trying.

Lol that's the hardest thing is to not keep buying more hardware.  Started with a u2 for about 1 month or so.    The. 2 s1s.    Now 2.4th/s     and helping double the profit with contracts.     And yet I still want to buy more.

1 pH s be the limit lol.

These USB asics I'd like to have 10-20gh/s worth of USB asics.   But for the price of 10-20gh/s. In USB asics.  U can buy 100-400gh/s

Solo not really worth it.     ... I damn wish it was.    Idblike to run a USB mining farm.

If not iv got a u2 for sale which iv over clocked to 2.2-2.4 GH s and had it cool and stable.    BTC or Paypal accepted

I started April of this year I started with two PC  using video cards i  saw that wouldn't cut it so around June i Bought a few U1 U2  to see more then a red fury and now i have 4 S1  and one s3 with two upgrades kit on order and gonna upgrade all the S1 and catch up  on founds and buy more  then get a L1 in DEC and buy one or two S4 once they come out next year i want more its fun for me  atm. for the two years or so i have power at about 0.90 per kw and the power bill doesn't up to much in fact it went down  over the summer and it's  starting to go back up  due to  the weather .but the hardest part is don't buy more and just upgrade as needed . Smiley .
2813  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 14, 2014, 05:58:07 PM
Yea :p.   I recently bought 2 s1s.   Been brining in a sweet profit bought 2 for $340 CAD.     BOUGHT another 9 s1s with 7 PSUs. 3 miners for 340 cad the rest of the miner are basically on loan.    But will give me about 2.4Th/s.

I pay about .08ckw/h but run em on free electrcitiy as well.

But iv thought about just buying them make money faster

upgrade those to S1 to S3  that's like 3.5 th with a power draw around 3740 watts or so my math might be wrong on  the watts but its close i think the 278 $ or so  per kit is well worth it or use bit coins. Smiley .

Then wait for the S4 next years which more then likely we won't see till next year or in Dec if then . o yea I'm gonna get a L1 as well . I don't just farm one type of coin . imo  if you do you won't get any were .
and my S3 I'l have  should hold me till the S4 comes out, i did think about the spondoolies sp20 home miner but if i wait till the S4 come out I'm sure they will use less power  be faster then the spondoolies sp20 home and cost way less.

also I'm glad it is harder now we get to see the true farmers etc its no longer a easy buck, it should have been that way all long, it more worth it now then it ever was . and at some Point soon hardware will slow down it all ways does.  but that's my 2 cs worth which means jack but how i see it .

If i did my math right i have one S3 on order and 4 S1 ones atm  I'll  be at like 2.2 th at normal clocks once i upgrade, if i decide to go out and  buy water cooling ( and the water cooling is not that bad as some say if you know how to i build it  i have built a few for my  videos cards and PC Smiley . for those old S1 boards that another 800 GH added back  which i know I  won't do, may even try to sell off the old S1 boards super cheap .

In Maryland atm we only pay 0.09 cents per kw/h which won't be going up for at least two more years were locked in to  that plan and may get  solar panels on top of that .  most of us in Maryland don't pay any more then 10 cents per Kw/h up to around 13 C.  some even pay less in my area. is not just  Washington state etc. from what Ive seen most of the US has really cheap Power compared to over seas .

2000 T Gone, where did t go so quick?

Eclipse .com is worse i was there  just trying it out because this pool seemed to come to a stand still last nite i was getting for a a few hours there like 7 digits per pay  out I was like wow nice  then for no reason i saw i dropped to 2 digits per pay out.: that 's a US base company (   MY  problem is mostly my speed atm  but that aobut to change once the one  S3 and two grades come in for two of my S1   but here i don't drop like that low even at 600 GH I stay at most of the time  5 to 6 digits pay out .
2815  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 13, 2014, 10:18:34 PM

August 21th was a really nice day, big money day Smiley

Le ROI est mort.
No more ROI, Mining in Europe it's almost the end of the game, except for few countries like Romania and Bulgaria where the electricty is cheap.
The last country to enjoy mining be the USA and in some part of this country like around Whashington or somewhere else i don't remember (very cheap electricty).

Ils sont là les français...

atm  were I'm  at it's  nice electric we pay  9 to 13  per kw  so not to bad  cents not dollars, I   live just out side DC and 10 miles  about from Baltimore. until my Power bill  is hit  hard I'm  gonna mine my ass off .

Mr. Slush, please lower the minimum threshold to withdraw buttcoins from account.

.01 is not low enough!~!

It should be @ .001 !
The pumpkin spice latte threshold is too high, and you want one that corresponds more with your planned purchase of two gummy candies at 7-11?

LMAO ,  atm i wish it was higher Smiley ...I know the OP does not want to Hear that, I wish it was  AT 0.03, I just started mining  bitcoins and buying the hard ware as i go . so 0.01 tends make me cash out to soon . Smiley.

BY Nov i should be at 2.24 TH  in my home farm and hope to have at least one antminer L1 On  order I like to farm both Algorithm ,I'm not into for the money if i break even I'll be a happy camper with some profit which profit will come over time but till then the best I hope for is even.

The minimum is .01 you can set it higher as I keep mine at .1

not my point i know you can but right now sense it is new exciting to me when I hit a pay out i take it but if it was higher for me that would be more rewarding in the sense because of how fast I'm increasing
my speed it really won't matter for me once i have it but it is gonna be awesome to get that first bit coin which i all most have but now if i was to take less payouts it seems like it would increase faster . once i get the first one the rest will fall in place that's how it all ways is the excitement of that first one you work so hard for then its nothing and you get more faster at least that how it is for me .

cya I talked to much all ready .

Me and waiting for it Smiley . btw is there really any thing updated much between 8 and 9 from the stats on bitmians site there the exact same thing that i saw all but  the B # ? . but i bought mine with cash in the US off a trusted vendor at least i hope i can , either way I'll  get my cash back and  buy it again I used a Credit card and the CC company all ways help me . i don't trust using bitcoins that way no real way to get it back even cash with out some form of buying Protection. but that's me i play it safe in that degree.

okay hopefully knows how do this on an s1 lol  I am on cg miner version 4.3.2a   what I am trying to do is get the API up and running on them to allow for a 3rd party software to control them etc a pool hopper.....    <<<<<<   I can get the api to send BUT not receiver any one have a clue how to get the api to receive on the s1 ants

May be edit with SSH do this http://coinmyne.proboards.com/thread/189/enable-full-privilege-api-antminer  if that's what you mean i also put in that line so it balance mines for me --balance . Smiley and you can also add more pools there you can't Thu the UI but do show up in the pool list in the UI.

Which from what I saw of the  UI for the S3 its built so you won't have to edit, guess I'll find out in two weeks Smiley .

I'm not sure what a  real pool hopper is only because any Pool  i mine at i usually set donation to like 3 to 5 % , i do just fine .
