Sure. Hense the disclaimer. I'm asking for nothing. Simply posting here given my knowledge of this space giving my friends post the best chance.

Sure, its not like medium rewards people for views or anything, otherwise the letter would be here, as copying and pasting isn't too hard, and you can even leave the link for reference and to avoid a plagiarism accusation...

But like you said, Satoshi isn't reading this letter, anyway.

Why would anybody ddos attack wikipedia lol...

I wake up at 6 am and work till 7 -15.30 usually, i come home at 16.30 and i've tired already than i usually spend my evenings socializing. Yeah i thought of joging in the morning but I like to sleep and even without jogging in the morning I have trouble waking up haha.
Yeah you can't jog anymore after work. I know that feeling.

Then if you have trouble waking up in the morning, you need to sacrifice that and set a goal that you have to jog before going to work. It's just a matter of mind setting and goal setting.

Yeah it is about sacrificing i guess because I like to socialize a little bit late in the evening so that means if i want to wake up early and go jogging or doing sports I have to end socialising early in the evening... Thank you for you help!

Or wake up half an hour earlier and do something like warm up exercises first, there are plenty of those on youtube, you will find one that you love. Then you could add something like a stationary bike, after you made a habit of the daily warm up routine.

You could, when reaching work also use the stairs up if the place is not at ground level Smiley
2804  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are there so many travel sites advertising on tv? on: September 11, 2019, 10:21:17 PM
Is the travel market that great that allows so many sites that do the same thing? The deals are never that great, most of the time you can book it yourself for less direct through the hotel or airline, especially on international trips.

Just a pet peeve... lol  Grin

Or why watch TV when all content is available online ad less?

Funny thing is, those trip agencies don't have access to ALL routes and pricing, regardless of their claims. Depending on country, you can book flights from an airline that never shows in their system, for whatever reason. But you'd need to learn their names and find their web page on your own, especially on smaller or blacklisted countries...

Did you know, that no American airline is allowed to come to my country anymore? There is a bunch of smaller local 1~3 plane airlines that only go to neighbor countries to connect flight anyone intending to come and leave. You gotta love the thrill of flying those old planes... (don't mind that noise, it gets temperamental sometimes).
2805  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is Pubg game become the need of Children? on: September 11, 2019, 10:07:12 PM
Violent game makers could atleast try to teach children through their game the consequences of killing people who have not been declared guilty by court. The developers could make the kids believe that any game character that qualifies to be killed has been sentenced to death by the court of law. This should make the kids accept that the reality in games and real world are thesame. Then the game reality and the real world reality won't be in conflict in the kid's mind

In the year 2xxx it was decided to change death sentences, from humane but boring injections, into one more useful for society idea: Survival games!

Indeed, its an old idea, dating perhaps to the times of the great Roman Empire, where Gladiators could earn their living in the same way. Could the winner even perhaps receive presidential pardon?

Remember kids, only those sentenced to death can participate. When your character dies, you will get assigned another death sentenced inmate.

I can see the bright future now....

Or, you could just stick to zombies...

Why does this restriction exist?
Long-time ago it was allowed even the newbies can wear avatar but I don't know the reason why.
It was probably abused by spammers, making disposable new accounts only to promote their garbage via avatar and signature...
2807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you protect your cryptocurrency from thefts? on: September 11, 2019, 08:38:06 PM
Hey!
How do you take preventive measures to avoid getting your cryptocurrency stolen or hacked? I read news about Bitpoint and Binance hack and it seems while exchanges are definitely are at risk of getting hacked, no doubt. But how do the crypto holders protect from hackers?

Do you use any special tools?

A pen and piece of paper. Yes really, its all you need for a secure offline wallet, in that paper you write the seed words, and protect this paper real good, perhaps make another copy in another piece of paper and secure it very well in a separate physical place.

Of course you have to had printed or copied addresses from this wallet so you can send funds into.

If there is any tool you need, that would be the live (linux) os you should use when making the wallet, or the very rare occasion you actually want to spend the funds stored in it. Offline wallets are meant for savings, once created nobody can steal nothing. In fact most Exchanges move the majority if their funds to offline wallets, which is why the latest "hacks" don't amount to major percentage of their funds. Online you only need a minimal amount needed for day to day transactions, and that should be done with a separate wallet.
2808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Antiviruses on: September 11, 2019, 08:21:43 PM
You do not need to format disk at this point, first you can try to clean your device with software which I recommend to you. It is important to remove Kaspersky before you install Norton Security, two AV will only make problems. After you install those programs first update them with latest definitions, and then make full scan of your device with each of them (one at the time).

After scan/s your will probably need to restart device, and then you will see do you still have problem with overloaded CPU. It would be better to make scans in safe mode, but it is up to you.

Formating disk is maybe best solution, and then installing of security software. I think the worst option is to do nothing, or postpone this task as you doing it now.
Well, you convinced me, I will reinstall the operating system to the new one. But I will be forced to transfer all my personal data to an external hdd. Will the virus be transferred to external hdd along with the files?

If you use Windows, probably. If you are smart and switch to Linux, boot from Linux to do your backup and then install Linux, its probably the end of the virus even if you do accidentally copy it with the backup. Or you could use clamav afterwards to remove it from the safety of Linux.

You are never going to get rid of malware with Windows, no amount of slow OS making software or "common" sense can protect you enough. In fact, you can spend hours and hours fixing it everything, only to have your system infected minutes after you finish, or have a fool friend bring it with his usb stick...
2809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Beginner Question / PLEASE HELP on: September 11, 2019, 08:05:00 PM
I went the Paxful site & it states they provide a wallet, is their wallet different than Electrum 's wallet ? I'm only in need of $30-$40 in Bitcoin & am looking for the easiest way possible to do this one time transaction.

For a one time, single transaction - what do you suggest ? Thanks so much for your time & help !

If you are buying in Coinbase that should be enough, you get a wallet there as well and can send funds from there directly to another bitcoin wallet. Same thing for other exchanges.

Make your own wallet if you plan to receive and send bitcoins in the future, for that Electrum is good, but you need to inform yourself first on Do's and don't s when handling your very own bitcoin wallet.
2810  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the US Government Trying To Control Crypto? on: September 11, 2019, 07:58:33 PM
Binance just announced that their US platform would be ready in weeks. The question is, what's on the mind of the American government concerning crypto. Isn't it possible they're trying to control it like the USD?

They cannot control decentralized crypto. The likes of Libra sure, but not Bitcoin. Its not a matter of wanting, they simply can't control it. Regulating it requires cooperation from their fellow citizens, but they cannot stop said citizens from keeping secret wallet/transactions...

Bitcoin is something that happened, in-spite of governments. Some don't know what to do about it, but they cannot make it disappear. I guess regulation is the next best they can do, unless they give up fully and authorize it freely the way it should be.

Its probably just a matter of time... State and Money are no longer the same anymore.
2811  Other / Archival / Re: Help - Invitation Code for MEGA TYPERS needed on: September 10, 2019, 10:21:12 PM
4TBB <-- Here you go, it's not mine though.

few years back when i used to type captcha there they only pay via paypal.  Huh
They pay in bitcoins too these days Wink

Edit: Regarding the experience part, I did sign up for megatypers a few days back hoping I would have to type out texts from documents. But it turns out you have to solve captchas and there was no captcha available to solve when I waited for almost 3 minutes. So, I quit. Also they pay just $0.7 for 1000 captchas which I think is low and not worth the time.

Sounds like another kolotibablo or whatever those solve captcha for money things are called. Microtasks pay more in my opinion, IF you find the source and avoid the several intermediaries. Unfortunately only a few of the intermediaries pay in bitcoin, Crowdflower or Figure eight as its called now has a direct (no referrals) site but only works with Paypal which for me now means stuck money.

There you can help train AI recognize things for the Pentagon for a few cents, pays better than solving captchas!

Or if you don't live in a "third" world country like mine, you can probably make more doing polls, such as Google Rewards.
2812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What did you know about Bitcoin before becoming a bitcoiner? on: September 10, 2019, 10:04:00 PM
This is a question to people who at some point discovered Bitcoin, but only became Bitcoin enthusiasts later - what was your experience?

I'll start with my story - I have first learned about Bitcoin in 2012 when I was looking for payment options for one online deal. In the end I used some other payment options, and Bitcoin didn't catch my interest, although I did claim a 0.005 BTC faucet once.

Then in 2014 I have learned about Dogecoin, and I still have vague understanding of cryptocurrency, I traded my BTC for DOGE and even tried to mine DOGE on my GPU. Then I quickly forgot about crypto again.

After that Bitcoin caught my attention in 2016 and I finally became a bitcoiner.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?

Hmm my story is kinda similar to yours. I didn't really paid attention to it, but i guess i first learned about it the first time it got posted on /. (which was quite early, 2009 i think). But, i happened to be on Freenode a lot for small talk and the occasional Linux helping. One of my hobbies has always been #anime, and guess who was the channel founder? Certain someone who now is on the core team...

Anyway for various reasons i wasn't able to obtain bitcoins easily and i lost interest. But later people would joke some much about dogecoin that, yes, you should remember me joining that channel and since they were giving them away all the time, i could familiarize my self with all the basic concepts:

Wallets (both lite and full node), sending money to others, transfer fees, irreversibility, etc.

Since those "joke" coins were free, any mistakes wouldn't hurt as much. But then i found myself with a bunch of them and i think i wanted to buy something, almost nobody takes doge but exchanges do, and those were converted into bitcoin and then i found myself already knowing how to do things...

Possibly some people enjoyed bitcoin faucets in the very early days and could experiment carelessly.

So what could be done? Perhaps easier access to testnet, so people could familiarize themselves. I don't think any of the wallets expose a simple ui control to switch to testnet (instead of mainnet) and get "free coins". But then you would need some site of sorts to play with them, perhaps some game or anything that would work with testnet instead.

Testnet is supposed to be for developers but end users could benefit from it, i think. Else you could still go to an altcoin, but even dogecoin stopped being given as widely as it used to, back in 2013. Turns out Doge is mostly just Litecoin which is one of the closest to actual Bitcoin. But blocks occur every 2.5m, and mining production is unlimited. Of course its unprofitable to mine, and has already exhausted all its halvings years ago.

I never got my hands into an L3 to mine it for lulz, yeah, scrypt just like Litecoin.
Oh, i also learned about Exchanges disappearing overnight, and cloud mining scams... Invaluable experience, from Moolah and Garza Tongue

It's a generic SMF error for certain things, I just screwed something up. Fixed now.

Lol thanks for the quick update, no need to get worried then ^^

I just saw this error when trying to post a message. What exactly triggers this error message? My garbage mobile connection tends to switch me IPs but usually i receive a different kind of error (Session validation error) but a refresh fixes it.

And the weirdest thing is that the message actually gets posted when this message shows...

2815  Other / Off-topic / Re: Shall we change the name of god? on: September 10, 2019, 09:15:07 PM
Then who told you that there are multiple God?your book?or your neighbors?

There’s only one God and that is the Father(creator) and no other aside from Him..

What makes you think its male?

Language is a huge barrier. Aramaic has a word that embodies both, and its apparently how Jesus actually taught his disciples. But all is "lost in translation".

The word God does deserve some rethinking as well, ignoring the joke nature of OP, it is a valid concern. People like to anthropomorphize God but you could say the universe is his/her body, and yes male/female are all within.

The Greek caricature of a god doesn't differ much from modern day comics, and that is where the Deus word comes from, at least you are spared from that in English...

You never see God because you are seeing it all the time, silly.

Satan is more of an analogy. Evil only exists the moment you decide to do it (or "welcome" it). The moment you say no, it dies. Rising this concept to a "God" like level, was actually something Judaism borrowed from Zoroastrianism during the Babylonian exile (when they entered in contact with).

You'd be surprised how easy religion is once you add some actual history (context) to it.

And a custom case to fit one board to it... Hmmm i see a potential product here Smiley
2817  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Protection of miners due to voltage fluxes. on: September 10, 2019, 08:50:47 PM
Hmm  if I get a larger industrial one for 1900 it would cover 15000 watts  considering that a s17 is 3000 and I could protect 6 s17's with the industrial

it does scale if they last. 6 s17's are close to 18000 + 4500 trump tax = 22500  if the transformer does the job it is worth it.

turning off all the gear is not ideal.  If the amazon one was just a little better and could do the big 3500 watt gear it would be worth it.

Even with the voltage regulator (transformer) there is a limit which if exceeded, will cut the power anyway. So its not like its guaranteed they will not cut the power at times. This is supposed to be an anomaly that should not occur frequently...
2818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Brazil will Reject G7 Aid Offer of $22M for Amazon Forest Fire on: September 10, 2019, 08:36:54 PM
Either it is pride or there's something going on in the back. Maybe there's enough reason for him to believe that the "aid" is not truly an aid and that it will have too many strings attached to it. I just hope the fires would die down finally. Is it already rainy season there in Brazil?

That is exactly the case, and there is a good reason: Corruption. It HAS to have "strings" attached, Brazil is truly unable to deal with the problem they themselves instigated as State policy. It is Brazil fault, you have to trample its sovereignty by sending UN troops. An UN security council resolution can fix this, and they don't have power of Veto.

Well, i would send them to all countries that share the Amazon, even mine, of course. Maybe the UN could also put a stop to the illegal mining garimpeiros have been doing for decades under such hellish conditions people here would vomit in disgust if they learned about their camps...

But of course, that is all an unknown to the world top leading countries they just buy the minerals, no questions asked. Prostitution? Check, underage? check, slavery? check. But wait, there is more, you just will never know...

Send the troops or shut up. Don't be naive with the money thing, none of these countries deserve that territory anyway, its a Stateless reality where only organized crime rules.

The jungle, looks so beautiful from afar, except for the (slash & burn) farmers, they want it all clear and leave the place barren as a desert.
2819  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [US Only] Legalization of the sex trade? on: September 10, 2019, 08:12:29 PM
I don't think sex is the main reason behind a marriage because it's only a temporary stuff and all, there lies a true love between the couples in a marriage and if it lacks, it's just gonna break the marriage in no time. Because stuffs like property sharing, offsprings and unconditional love for ones on child, these feelings can only originate if there exists a true love or bonding which is more than the lust for sex. And sex is already legal, isn't it, if you are an adult, you can have it with any consensual adult Tongue

Sigmund Freud would disagree with you about sex not being the main reason behind marriage. In fact, Freud would tell you that sex is essentially the reason you do everything in life that you do.

But regarding sex in marriage, the sexual bond in marriage (even if there aren't any other bonds holding it together) is designed to maintain the marriage for stability for the children long enough to get them to maturity. This doesn't always work, of course. Who Set it up like this? God did. But we continually mess up the good stuff God provided.

This is why Carl Jung had to come and: "de-emphasized the importance of sexual development and focused on the collective unconscious".

In fact, they had quite the heated debate and ended breaking relations... But still, Carl was right, and Freud just didn't like his theories getting broken...
2820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive $1 Billion Bitcoin Whale Transaction Makes Waves on: September 10, 2019, 07:27:26 PM
Is a big amount who can crash easily the markets, that's why people and investors get in panic after seeing that enormous transaction.

The bitcoins haven't been sold, but if the owner decides to do it I think we will see a price crash down to $7k. So, let's keep an eye on the addy who holds those coins.

10k to 7k is not a crash, its like a mere 30% loss. Why do you insist in abusing the word crash? Let the whale sell them, it means cheap bitcoin for the few lucky that manage to buy them, i would expect a very quick correction afterwards.

the term commonly applies to steep double-digit percentage losses

Bitcoin's future is sealed in its code. Those who don't trust it, are welcome to sell them, its better for all of those who don't trust it to get rid of theirs, and the true holders to amass them. You will see this is part of the irreversible process of maturity, including price stability, which should healthily slow down its constant price increases and eventually settle somewhere within 1 digit yearly increase (because fiats are all being devalued intentionally). Could take a few more decades...
