2821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.org on: June 16, 2014, 01:14:49 PM
I think Sirius still owns bitcoin.org and bitcointalk.org. We know that theymos now runs [Suspicious link removed]. It is possible that theymos is also running it now.

I really like your answer, and thanks DeathProxy.

So who is Sirius? And theymos?

Satoshi handed the forum down to Sirius during the sourceforge days I think.
It's kind of mind-blowing to be reminded of just how recent that was. Sourceforge 5 years ago...

...we are still in the earliest of days, ladies and gentlemen.
2822  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Here is how to make a brain wallet 100 times more secure. on: June 16, 2014, 01:08:35 PM
The reason I completely avoid using brainwallets is because we as humans are not as random as we think. If a word or phrase can be read, then it's not completely random. Even if you have the salt + passphrase format, the "correcthorsebatterystaple" element is still not random. Yes it's more secure, but still not totally random.

Picking words from a dictionary by closing your eyes, flicking through 500 pages and sticking your finger on a "random" page , is random enough for all necessary purposes.
That is correct. Just make damn sure you've committed those words to memory!!

OP, your idea is sound, but it is NOT a brain wallet by definition - as you admitted. It's a hybrid wallet, I suppose. The idea is that ALL you need is in your head, and no one even knows you have one. Storing a salt/seed on the blockchain is clever, though I must admit.
2823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fake Bitcoin on: June 16, 2014, 01:03:32 PM
Hello all,
I am wandering if there is or is there will be in the future fake BTC.
Yeah, there already is. It's called Dogecoin.
2824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ Calls Rich to Tax-Free Tropical Paradise on: June 16, 2014, 03:42:11 AM
"Currently, I am working full time to make the world a better, less violent place by promoting the use of Bitcoin.
Bitcoin totally strips away the State’s control over money. It takes away the vast majority of its power to tax, regulate, or control the economy in any way. If you care about liberty, the nonaggression principle, or economic freedom in general you should do everything you can to use Bitcoin as often as possible in your daily life."

There's the important bit, for those who won't take the time to read the article.
2825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does the US Military Think Bitcoin Is a Terrorist Threat? on: June 16, 2014, 02:02:19 AM
Living in the USA, sucking up the benefits of doing so...
Benefits, such as post-traumatic stress disorder ? Surviving a suicidal depression or two? My existence has been suffering for most of my young life. Yeah, thanks 'murica. Good lookin' out.

2826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does the US Military Think Bitcoin Is a Terrorist Threat? on: June 16, 2014, 01:12:39 AM
By the way, are you a US citizen?
I am a citizen of the world, and I am ever watchful. Corporate neo-fascism will not come to pass, not while I draw breath. Wake up, capitalism is not your friend. Capitalism is no one's friend.

“The strategic adversary is fascism... the fascism in us all, in our heads and in our everyday behavior, the fascism that causes us to love power, to desire the very thing that dominates and exploits us.”

"America sucks, get over it."

Then why do you not GTFO?
Now where have I heard this dimwitted, redneck, brainwashed horseshit argument before?

Ahh yes, right here. You're in way over your head, in case you haven't figured it out by now.
2828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does the US Military Think Bitcoin Is a Terrorist Threat? on: June 15, 2014, 11:38:06 PM
ALL countries are effectively a corporation of one kind or another.

Stop picking on the USA.
True though that may be, not all countries are hyper-violent military empires. I love reason and loathe violence, and I live in America. Ergo I consider it my ethical duty to speak out, lord knows my brainwashed fellow citizens ain't gonna.

Sorry if that causes cognitive dissonance for your indoctrinated little mind, but I'll pick on this travesty of a "nation" all I want. Look, if I lived in ancient Rome, I'd pick on Rome. I'd heckle the emperor until they put me to death. I don't. I live here, in this collapsing empire.

America sucks, get over it.

Now sit down, shut up, and start taking notes. I'm trying to save your life and the lives of your children.
2829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk road seized coins are moving! on: June 15, 2014, 11:31:29 PM
If THAT hits the market, we'r talking disaster....absolute anihilatio of price for quiet some time.
Read "8.3 days added to the Bitcoin year". 3,600 new coins are generated every day, somehow the price does not collapse. Could it be because people are melting fiat for crypto each day?

Keep spreading your clueless FUD, noobcake.
2830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Does the US Military Think Bitcoin Is a Terrorist Threat? on: June 15, 2014, 11:18:32 PM
Terrorists are bullies who use violence or the fear of violence to coerce action.
Bullies who may lose fiat funding may feel threatened hence Bitcoin is defined as a terrorist threat from a certain perspective.
Correct. Within every violent act, there is the threat of 1,000 more. Such is the power of coercion backed by violence! Along with indoctrination and mass-deception, the nation-state has us by the hearts, the minds, and the balls.

Listen, this species has no future if we continue down the path of violence. Our technology will soon take us to a place of total self-destruction. Ours will be a future governed by reason, or it will be total annihilation.

Now ditch your fucking fiat scrip (AKA murder-money) before its used to kill more innocents! "All power is down the barrel of a gun" -Mao

Related: Sunset of the state.

Anything that can not be controlled by the US Government, or should I word it better by saying "can not be controlled by THE BIG BANKS/ WALLSTREET" is considered a terrorist and a threat. Case and point!!!
I prefer, "USA, incorporated", as it really gets to the heart of the matter. The word "nation" is a total misnomer. The USA is a business - best understood as legitimized pyramid scheme that is every bit as vile, cruel, and unjust as ancient Rome.

"Civilization is based on a clearly defined and widely accepted yet often unarticulated hierarchy. Violence done by those higher on the hierarchy to those lower is nearly always invisible, that is, unnoticed. When it is noticed, it is fully rationalized. Violence done by those lower on the hierarchy to those higher is unthinkable, and when it does occur is regarded with shock, horror, and the fetishization of the victims."

2831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Merchant's cost of accepting cash on: June 15, 2014, 11:07:55 PM
I've never actually thought about it this way, but I guess you're right. Theft from tills by employees is a big problem.
Theft from employees via employers [= "profits margin"]  is a far, far, far, far, far bigger problem. Ditch the polyglot oligarch parasites, my fellow wage-slaves. It will only continue getting worse until you wake up. Yes, you. We are the ones we've been waiting for.

Our time has come.
2832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: June 15, 2014, 09:03:14 PM
Why price started decreasing again?
It's like the weather. Chaotic and difficult to predict on a day to day and week to week basis.

Very clear and predictable trend year over year and decade over decade, though. If you can't handle the illusory risk, you don't deserve the very real reward.
2833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if the cryptography of Bitcoin gets cracked? on: June 15, 2014, 08:58:33 PM
Nobody is going to be cracking SHA256 anytime soon. It's not even worth considering, honestly.

When Bitcoin is (...) adopted by the masses, there will (...) be more apps that are idiot proof
Fixed that for you.

I bid the future existence of the Federal Reserve.

2836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the bitcoin Dinosaurs? on: June 15, 2014, 08:19:39 PM
The word "dinosaur" implies extinction, so I would say the true dinosaurs of Bitcoin are the central banks, and entities such as the FED.
2837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Under 18 Bitcoin Trading on: June 15, 2014, 08:14:22 PM
It is not exactly the best or safest way, probably not the best cost wise either, but I am pretty sure you can buy them from someone else if you make or have a paypal account. Just dont let them know you're buying cryptos.

You have to be 18 to have a Paypal account.
But not a Bitcoin wallet. Bitcoin is liberating for youths as it is also liberating for those denied access to modern banking (ie. the poor of the world).

Don't listen to the advice of adults telling you how to act and behave, my child. Know that most of the adults in this world are already insane, as a result of their enduring exposure to the insane culture of civilization. Worse, they think themselves your masters.

They think they own this world until you inherit it from them, but this could not be further from the truth. They (we) are borrowing this world from you, the next generation. And we're treating it with the utmost disrespect. The younger you are, the purer and truer your wisdom.
2838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When 50-75 people control 90% of Bitcoin supply, has it ever been decentralized on: June 15, 2014, 08:08:53 PM
This is the elephant in the room no one likes to discuss, alot is made about ghash gaining control of 51% of the hash rate, but what about the elite few who actually own all the Bitcoins? Are we not equally at their mercy as the big mining pools?

We are.
They can, if they choose, drop down price to whatever level they want (by selling huge quantities of BTC on open market).
But, doing so would damage "them" more than it would damage "us", so it's kinda self healing / reapiring system.
Correct, the Bitcoin network is an organic system that, like your body, is always seeking homeostasis. If you think you can hurt it, you are mistaken. You can delay it's development, mostly at your own expense, to the benefit of no one.
2839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would be your SR auction bid? on: June 15, 2014, 08:04:31 PM
10-15% below market price on the day of the auction
That would be my guess also, but you never know.  Bitcoin is still a small enough market to be subjected to manipulation by whales, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some foul play that week...
2840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The biggest bitcoin wallet on: June 15, 2014, 09:32:12 AM
It's mine.
And it's only half of what I have.

I too have decided to sell 50% of my coins.

So I will dump them soon....
