15 million HKC divided by 7.2 million people = 2.08 coins per HK resident.

Isn't the faucet 100 coins/daily, to start with, and will increase? At least that is what it says on the 1st page of this thread. I expect not every single person in HongKong will get a coin, just those who use the faucet. So it won't be an even distribution, but still... the premine will get out to HongKong residents.

I keep getting the feeling that after AUR airdrop this coin will go up.

Or every nation coin will fall to the ground and die. I still wonder how they plan to actually do this airdrop. Strangely the one coin that did figure out a way to pay people (Hong Kong coin) is getting very little notice. They are going with a faucet that works off of IP address.

I still have no idea how maza is supposedly going to be distributed.

Just now on IRC:

"MazaCoinPayu: Hmmm were secret dox leaked recently showing Oglala Lakota Presidents "Secret" payments to people fighting mazacoin?   I think soooo..... stay tuned...."

For future reference.

Payu just said that? Really?

I wonder how that can help at all. Besides looking paranoid, even if true, how can that help the coin in any way? Doesn't he need Lakota leadership to get the coin accepted?

Actually I thought their goal was .25 short-term (3-6 months) and 1.00 or more long-term? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

The real problem though is, at 0.003 (or whatever it is now), why bother even giving 1000 maza to Lakota (or whomever they eventually give it to)? They really can't wait a year+ to give the coins away, and it'll be a really hard sell to get Maza accepted if the value of each coin is so miniscule. Even if Payu somehow gets retailers to agree to accept it, nobody getting the Maza will have enough value to actually buy anything.

But see the price hasnt tanked! when it started trading we had a 92,000.00 USD market cap
3 weeks later we have 432,000.00 USD market cap!...That is almost 500% GAIN IN 3 WEEKS!

The rest was just the whales doing their P/D...Am i missing something???

if you bought to high like me and believe in the coin AVG Down and swing trade it

If you don't believe in it and sold for a lose? Live and learn

But to continue to knit pick every little thing is just stupid IMO

Get behind the cause or move on to the next coin

I only bought a small amount, but thought I was smart averaging it out. I wasn't. I sold off at around an 85% loss, and it was the smart thing to do. The reason why was, it sunk even lower... and lower... and continues to sink. I used the small amount leftover on other trades, which made up some of the loss. And I ended up with half as many as I started with again, for free (via arbitrage trades, people dumped when it got really low).

I think people have a right to offer constructive criticism.  It's not knit picking when the devs and Payu make really obvious mistakes, don't follow up on a single thing the community suggests, and then do their own bizarre thing (like insulting Lakota leaders).
2826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - 19th Largest Cryptocoin by Marketcap on: March 18, 2014, 10:47:33 PM

Darkcoin also has a much higher block reward. 3.72 Aircoin per block compared to 20-22 Darkcoin per block (at diff 285 mind due).

I guess I am just asking if the current value of the coin is based almost entirely on mining difficulty? Or is there something intrinsic about it to make it worth more? I am aware of their price fixing/adjustment thingy, but I am a bit skeptical longterm with that.

If just mining, any dev could make a new coin and make it difficult to mine ... and say it's worth $10/coin.
2827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - 19th Largest Cryptocoin by Marketcap on: March 18, 2014, 10:01:43 PM
I am not mining this coin anymore because the profit is EXTREMELY bad at the moment. I still see this coin as a good investment, that's why I am BUYING it for the low price as it is now. I will mine it if/when difficulty drops.

I've seen people mention that this coin is currently at a low price. My question is, why would you consider it low? Simply because the devs are making mining difficult based on price? On the plus side, they do have actives devs ...but still...

1 Billion Max coins (maybe more).

vs ... let's say Darkcoin, at:

84 Million Max

And DarkCoin has a very active dev.

Air is currently 1.5x the price of DarkCoin. My question is, is Air overvalued, or Dark simply undervalued? Or both? I don't quite get why Air should be at its current price, simply based on mining difficulty -- unless I am overlooking something that contributes to its perceived value.

Surprised this seems to be getting very little attention so far.

And it's the only nation coin that has actually set up a way to distribute the coins to the people who are supposed to get them.

As for the merits of the coin, no idea. I just find it odd how most of the nation coins have no actual feasible plan to get the premine to people of said nation, yet the one that does gets little notice.
2829  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CONFIRMED: Coinex.pw hacked/all coins stolen! on: March 18, 2014, 05:52:51 PM

If you keep all your coins at an exchange or any other online service you deserve to be hacked.

If you keep all of your coins, or tons of bitcoin, on an exchange I agree. But otherwise I find comments like this silly. How are you supposed to trade, buy or sell coins without keeping some of them on an exchange? There isn't enough time to buy coins or sell them at good prices, if they are all stored in wallets. By the time it gets to the exchange, it's usually too late.
2830  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CONFIRMED: Coinex.pw hacked/all coins stolen! on: March 18, 2014, 05:26:54 PM
Bleh. I just started with cryptos like 2 months ago, and am a small guppy-sized trader. Mostly doing giveaways, free cloudmining and such. Things like this make me feel like just forgetting cryptos.

I was planning on moving what I had in Coinex out the other day, but got busy ... then the next day Coinex vanished. I didn't have much there compared to what other people have, but still, it was a decent amount to me ... some bitcoin, around 40K noble, 12K doge and some other coins. It probably seems a paltry amount to most here, and looking at it from a monetary standpoint it wasn't much really ... but it mattered to me.

Oh well. I know everyone thinks govt. regulation and such are the main enemies of cryptos. It really isn't. It's all of these shady exchanges. Enough go down, and people will just walk away and lose all confidence in the coins.
2831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world. on: March 18, 2014, 05:18:45 PM

The 100 Billion coins is to remove the ridiculous Decimals required to understand most crypto currencies. The general public out there don't like lots of 0's after their decimal point, it confuses them! Imagine checkouts thats will be nought, point, nought, nought, nought, nought, nought, five Spartan coins please. As someone said it's much easier just to say 50 spartan coins please.

Personally I don't get the point to any coin having a max of 100 billion. You do avoid the decimal point issue, but then get a new problem: Zimbabwe style prices. Let's say the coin reaches doge levels, and seeing how popular doge is, that is probably unlikely. 50 spartan = like 3 cents. If it turns out to be the more likely scenario of cheap mufti-billion coin LTC market prices, then here is your 50 spartan worth .002 cents. So instead of the decimal issue, you create a new one, where people will need to pay 10 million coins to send like $20.

If the developers do all they have planned, the coin may still be popular. I just don't understand why any coin needs so many billions.

Mt. Gox coin may make sense, the way things seem to be shaping up.
2833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world. on: March 18, 2014, 02:40:19 AM
i thank 300 billion too much.

Max coin for this 300 billion, or 100 billion? Not that either are small numbers ... 100 million max would have made more sense.
2834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Fastest coin to use when sending between exchanges? on: March 17, 2014, 08:58:15 PM
Just curious what coin most people use when you need to move a coin to another exchange, either for arbitrage or simply because there may be a coin there not on other exchanges -- situations where you want the funds there quickly?

Maybe litecoin? Then convert that to bitcoin? Something else?

I tried to do a little arbitrage just now, and was able to get a little done, but needed to move a small amount of funds from Cryptsy to the other exchange (Poloniex). I had doge on Cryptsy, so figured I'd just swap that over and since the buy/sell prices were close, it'd be pretty even. Convert the doge to btc on Poloniex, buy what I wanted, and I'd ship it back to Cryptsy... seemed simple to do, in my mind, anyway.

I first bought what I could at Poloniex with the btc I had there already, and moved that over to Cryptsy for selling. I was able to have it sent, and sell it on Cryptsy, before Cryptsy even sent me a confirmation email to do the withdrawal of the doge. I am still waiting for it, like 20 min later... and of course by now, it's too late.

Is there a better coin to use for these sorts of transfers?
2835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: March 17, 2014, 04:38:31 AM
Ever heard of the saying 'sometimes you have to join them to beat them?'

Yep.  Invested a bit of my sold off shares of maza into SPA, quadrupled my investment.  And now I have 4x more to buy in maza at a pricepoint that is less than 1/4 of what I initially bought in for before the 1000% rise.

Some of these shitcoins may be exactly what their name implies, but I'll be damned if they can't have their perks. Smiley

I did pretty much the same, although I never invested a ton to begin with. Sold off maza at like an 85% loss, put it into SPA and Air ... made a decent profit, re-bought a small amount of Maza at around 500ish. If you ask me if I believe longterm in SPA or Air... nah... but they certainly were good for quick profit.
2836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: March 15, 2014, 11:06:27 PM
This is such a strange coin. I got out yesterday, well, actually sold some of my coins the day before, and finished selling the rest yesterday ... probably at like an 85% loss. I didn't buy that many to begin with, around 1000, so no biggie ... but it's one of the rare times that I bought a coin that completely tanked so quickly.

Anyway, after Payu more or less insulted the tribe's leaders with that bribe comment, who is the coin going to be for now? I see little hope of any official statement from a tribal leader.

It crossed my mind that perhaps this was all planned by the devs. Have the price sink, gobble up tons of coins cheaply, then announce something official and watch the price skyrocket. But at this point, I think the falling price was just due to incompetence.

I may buy in again if it keeps sinking (if we can figure out the floor) and if Payu has an actual plan that could possibly work, even if it's a simpler revised plan.
2837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: March 14, 2014, 08:13:20 PM

That's kind of...disappointing.  But again...they're the ground troops actually out there, so if they're not showing concern..that can only mean one thing: that they're 110% sure in their efforts and ultimate goal.  Let's hope that they are correct...though I think their approach could definitely be re-worked...but it's all a matter of opinion.

Well, being sure of one's efforts is one thing. Getting results is another. And if Payu jumps in more lakes, I give up -- more youtube promos is not what is needed at this point.

Anyone know the min requirement to run the wallet/game?

I'd put this on my atom netbook and play it once in a while, if I was sure it would work. The res may be an issue, as it's an older one, at 1024x600.

Unfortunately we're in free-fall mode, boys.  I agree...Payu DOES need to be concerned with short and medium term pricing as well...as even a week in the crypto community can mean an eternity and make or break a coin.  Hopefully someone is reaching out to him and letting him know this.  I still do have faith, but sometimes its best to cut your losses, pull out, and (if so inclined) buy more back at a lower price point.  There just simply is not any ample purchasing interest to drive prices up right now.  Have patience, for I think this still has long term potential...but at the same time always be realistic in your expectations and realize we're in the wild wild west.

We brought up price with Boxxa and Payu last night, repeatedly. We brought up ideas about forking and reducing miner rewards. They said they weren't concerned or interested. Perhaps after a day or two of more dropping, they'll change their minds a bit.

So no need to reach out to him and let him know, as he must know by now. What they do about it is the question.
2840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MZC][SHA-256] MAZACOIN *First Sovereign Currency* ANDROID WALLET AVAIL.!! on: March 14, 2014, 07:26:14 PM

apparently you missed the point. if you just want to get the Android app to users any "shitty" phone will work. im not saying to give everyone a phone that works for multiple purposes. just something that runs the wallet. In return on that kind of investment you are getting technology to people who would otherwise not have any technology at all. it may be a shitty phone to you but it is a free gateway to the technological world for the less privileged.

One of the problems with the phone idea is logistics. It's a pain enough to distribute crypto, but now one would also need to distribute thousands (10s of thousands? how many people are there in lakota) of phones? A couple of hundred phones sound nice, but what about those who don't get one?

The bigger problem is at this point, why even bother? Unless maza gets to at least 10-20 cents per coin, 1000 maza will be worth less than even a junky, throwaway phone. They'd be better off selling the old phone and forgetting about the $3 worth of maza they were just given.
