Well that's just confirmed it completely then. Just wish there were more of them about really if they are that good.

That being said how much is one worth in GBP?
2822  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: April 08, 2016, 01:31:44 PM
I run my S3+ at 250 also, it stays solid at 500GH.  Runs really well with kano's updates software package, too.  I will be hosting some gear pretty soon, and when I do I'll bring the S3+ back out because you can just set it and forget it.
Can you elaborate on "kano's updates software package"? Is it for S3+ only or S3 as well?
How to install/apply it on S3/S3+?

Kanos firmware update basically makes the antminers run smoother and quicker. They don't affect the hashrate but the giu loads quicker, you have a couple of extra options within the menus etc.

The S3 update can be found here:-

https://bitbucket.org/TheKano/cgminer-binaries/src/f5884bfece7a8dfd48550cb172272212459be51c/AntS3/?at=master

Ive got it running on both my S3+'s with no problems at all.

lol cheers minibit. flicking between screens and always end up looking in the wrong column. Good thing im not an accountant as all my clients tax returns would be wrong  Cheesy

What freq you running Mike?
Well, not the 250MHz that was shown on the site, lol.  That must have happened when they added the "adjust you own freq" thing.

I'm at 137.5 like most of the folks.

Don't think theres anything wrong with your R1. Its still submitting shares equal to everyone else at that speed. Just it hasn't pulled a good bestshare out of the box yet. Im surprised mine got a 1M share lol
2825  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How loud is a Rockminer R-Box (100ghs) on: April 08, 2016, 08:03:38 AM
Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I'll see what I can get it for. It'll only be joining my two S3+'s, two U3's and gekko stick.
2826  Bitcoin / Hardware / How loud is a Rockminer R-Box (100ghs) on: April 07, 2016, 08:31:26 PM
Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I know the R-box is outdated now and from what ive read not exactly a great miner, but im in the habit of buying cheap outdated small miners at the moment.

So is it louder then an S3? As I've already got two S3's under my desk in my room and can quite happily sleep with them running.

Thanks.
2827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: UK import duty? on: April 07, 2016, 08:28:24 PM
Import duty is 20% plus whatever the delivery service adds on for handling.

For example, I ordered an Antrouter R1 from klintay on here (runs eyeboot website) and the import duty on a $40 (usd) antrouter was £6. Royal Mail then put another £8 on top for dealing with customs. Yes it was easier if they dealt with them but still once you factor all of that in it was almost as much as buying one from a seller already in the country.

Certainly was a nice one. Good to see a smaller miner get one. I've got no chance as I'm only just pushing 1Th lol.

Anyone know what kind of miners the last two blocks were found with? Never seen those names on the top minera list.

RichBC, I'm game for that proposal. I would like to be greedy but I think that seeing as we are only a small bunch we will all benefit well  Smiley
2832  Bitcoin / Mining support / Raspi 3 mini mining rig setup? on: April 04, 2016, 02:42:59 PM
Hi everyone,

Basically im looking at setting up a raspi3 to act as a controller for my two U3's and a gekko compac usb stick. Im doing it to save me using my laptop all the time and having to have it constantly plugged in to run cgminer. Im after any pointers or help with regards to setting it up.

I was thinking about getting a powered hub and running the pi from that, aswell as all the other miners (including an arctic breeze usb fan) as the gekko is quite power hungry from what ive read (well when its OC'd). Would this be a feasible option?

I'd like to run cgminer 4.9.2 (gekko edition) which has been working really well on my laptop. Would it be a simple case of copying the folder over to the pi?

What OS would be good to use on the pi?

As you can tell im a complete novice when it comes to anything more involved than switching it on and writing posts on the forum   Cheesy

A step by step guide would be great, ive tried searching but cant seem to search for the right thing to get the answers im looking for.

Thanks for your help in advance  Smiley

2833  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 03, 2016, 07:30:46 PM
Well so far using the gekko version of cgminer 4.9.2, there have been no zombie issues, if anything isn't found or stop working, within a few minutes its back. The com port number has changed (at least I think its that). Apart from that the only other issue has been cgminer stopping completely while I was at work today. Once home, I saw the windows "this program has stopped working" message and closed it then restarted it with no problems.

Not sure why it stopped working but its working again now.
2834  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 03, 2016, 07:24:36 PM
Hi,

I'm wondering what pool I should best use with the U3.

Kano.is is saying I'm having dust payouts (list of dust BTC rewards < 0.0001 BTC) and don't reach threshhold to receive a payout? I don't understand exactly how this works, but I want to get paid out for my hashing power.

So what pool could you advise me to use or any other tips?

thanks!

If you've only got  U3 then that's all you will get. I use bitminter for all my miners (2xS3+ 2x U3 and 1x gecko stick) and only make about 0.07btc when a block is found. I get that much because the pool hashrate is around 3500ghs-4000ghs whereas kano.is is 30,000-35,000ghs so your earnings are small by comparison. The onlhy thing with kanos pool is that the payouts to your btc address are as soon as the block has been confirmed, whereas bitminter you can set a minimum payout amount which gets sent out as soon as its been reached, effectively like a bank account, it will store your earnings until the threshold has been reached.

But bitminter don't get as many blocks as kano, but the payouts are larger, so it kind of evens out really, just aslong as you don't mind waiting.

Ammi, could you change my freq to 131.25mhz please?

Plugged in a gekko stick to my R1 and now it doesn't like being at 137m  Cheesy
2836  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 03, 2016, 04:41:03 PM
Both U3's are good as they will run and work on cgmienr direct through the laptop usb. So cant be a power issue either. Im stumped  Undecided

I would look at USB as mentioned by some above.   A cheap usb 2.0 hub should work fine.  I would try another cheap usb hub and see what happens.  I would not go twords powered as no need to add that to it.

What cheap usb hub are you using?  Have you tried it for other things and tested ports?

Ive tried the U3's with all three hubs now on cgminer and they run no problem, so its got to be the R1. Tempted to get a raspi and run them from that as I don't really want my laptop on 24/7.

cheap unpowered USB 2.0 hub.... NOT USB 3.0... this maybe the reason....

Ok, lets clarify. I have used the following cheap hubs:-

USB 2.0 (non powered)
USB 3.0 (non powered)
USB 2.0 (powered)

All three were tried with different approaches. Plugging one in would work fine, then plugged a second in and it would read it but then it would stop hashing. Tried lowering the freq and voltage back to standard levels but no effect. One U3 would work fine and even a Gekko stick would work in the usb port on the R1 (by itself) but as soon as I tried to connect a second device it would stop.

The two U3's and Gekko stick are now on the 2.0 powered hub and running through cgminer (gekko edition) on my laptop but obviously I don't want to have my laptop on all the time, hence the raspi thought.

That's the thing. The r1 has crazyguys firmware so yea you're right is have to try and sort the zombie issue out. God knows how I'll do that seeing as setting up a raspi is a bit out of my comfort zone lol

Certainly hasn't been good. Maybe that's why it looks like Aries has jumped ship and the total pool hashrate dropped down to 2800ghs, lowest I've seen it since I started mining. But maybe Doc can work some magic and get us back to double blocks every so often.  Grin

They really are little bastards  Cheesy I read up a lot about them and thought that they can't all be bad, but it seems they are. Oh well they are doing alright at the moment. Just don't want to run my laptop 24/7 if I can help it. Might invest in a raspi and do a load more research into setting it that thing up  Roll Eyes
