2822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will the market rise in June on: May 31, 2022, 11:16:19 AM
Can you expect the market to do something good in June. What do you say.
I say bon-june!

Joking apart, what do you even expect? That anyone here will have an answer to that question of yours? At best, we can only speculate. Come to even think of it, June is just next month which actually starts tomorrow. You ought to develop that long term mindset when it comes to cryptos. Invest. Give it some time to grow and not just watch it perpetually like it's a get rich quick scheme. To the best of my perspicacity, the recent happenings in the market seem to have defiled all expectations that the rally ought to have begun. This is the second quarters of the year and the market is still plummeting. No one knows for certainty when it will pick up again to head north on a bull's back.
2823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another example is how greed destroy crypto investors. on: May 31, 2022, 10:50:32 AM
There's never a clean sweep when it comes to taking profit in trading. There's always something left behind. I don't go back looking for that which is left behind. I move on once I've got my capital covered. No regrets. I behaved like OP in the past, trying to rebuy after I had sold and taken profit. Most times I went in all and got burnt, of course. My strategy this day is take profit, and if I feel strongly about the project after selling I rebuy from the profit. The recouped capital must not be tampered with when I'm buying back. That way, whatever ill that happens to the project won't affect me completely.
2824  Other / Meta / Re: Why do these accounts have the right to wear a clickable signature on the forum? on: May 31, 2022, 09:54:30 AM
But of course, a lot depends on the managers.
That's my position too. Solving that issue should lie within the jurisdiction of campaign managers to sieve out users without earned merit over a period of time. Sadly, the site the accused is promoting doesn't require any restrictions to get it. A campaign that scams and accepts red tagged users accused of scamming can't do better that what they're doing. This brings be back to the issue of why isn't scam regulated in the forum. Plagiarism is seriously frown at here; why not scam?
2825  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Four (4) Tips On How I Handle Criticism on Bitcointalk Forum on: May 31, 2022, 08:39:45 AM
As you grow old on the forum, you will get to realize that the "ignore" option will serve better, especially when you borrow the constant advice of certain veterans here to grow thick skin. I won't hit the ignore button because a user criticizes me but I can effortlessly do that if a user becomes an annoying troll. There are users who derive joy trolling others and attempting to get under their skin. Such users, you ignore.

In all, just keep being your real self and let others do their thing. Don't pander to anyone. No one can claim they're loved by all. That's not possible.
2826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: should I be concerned about the history of bitcoins when buying them ? on: May 31, 2022, 06:34:17 AM
If I purchase bitcoins via p2p, can I get some problems if the bitcoins I get were involved in some criminal activity ?
If this thought pattern becomes a reality, then it means crypto industry will become problematic. It's like asking for the manufacturing process an automobile passes through before buying it. What I think should be a point of concern should be if the sale or exchange of the Bitcoin is in fiat and directly to your bank account and there is a transfer limit on your bank account. Some banks do have such mechanism to deter money laundering. Other than that, I don't see why anyone should worry themselves where the Bitcoin they're buying comes from.
2827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Approaches That make Losing Become a Constant event on: May 30, 2022, 11:05:04 PM
At whatever point as a newbie in cryptocurrency one needs to eliminate the tendency for fear and greed, these two bad personalities can affect your total well being in the cryptocurrencies market
Just like prostitution which is almost as old as mankind, fear and greed are necessary ingredients in human endeavour. They're the driving force for whatever man does. Fear keeps the timid away from business while greed attracts them to it. There's no way these two can be eliminated. However, they can be properly monitored or checked.

Quote
Don't get greedy always move within your limit, and grow along the line. Don't be quick to make a decision just because a coin did 10x.
Yeah, that should be a more balanced and objective dissection of the fear and greed factor and how to apply them.
2828  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you a trader or a hodler? on: May 30, 2022, 07:23:34 PM
As a beginner, I had a bad experience and was completely disappointed with the loss of some amount.
I think it's a given with every veteran member here that we suffered losses as newbies. We've earned our stripes like soldiers and their war injuries. It's in cryptos I realized the essence of companies asking for years of experience on job spaces. It shows that an employee with a wealth of experience is always a step ahead. That's right. I know this to be true in cryptos. My advice to newbies this day, among other things, is to trust Bitcoin far ahead of whatever juicy altcoins anyone hypes. With Bitcoin, one is sure that one's investment won't disappear finally into thin air. Bitcoin can dip, no doubt, but there's every proof that it will spring back to life.
2829  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: An advice for Crypto Investing on: May 30, 2022, 06:56:13 PM

3. INVEST MORE IN CRYPTO STUDYING - As the saying goes, "knowledge is power."
Many people think that expression is now a cliché, especially motivational speakers and I side with that and rightly so. For I believe knowledge lies in waste if it isn't activated. Someone reads or knows something but doesn't put it to practice, the value of what they know can't be quantified or measured. So, it's a waste. Those who knew (knowledge) of Bitcoin when it was created but didn't make a bold move by buying it then can't be selling it now. I believe that explains the how thing about knowledge being "potential" power and not "real" power. It's not an automatic thing.
2830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What do I have to do on: May 30, 2022, 05:31:21 PM
I don't know if this project tricked me or not.,but i buy from each coin the equivalent of $500  Embarrassed

the current total estimated selling value is $20K but I can't sell it  Cry
I've come to realize it's usually the same near experience every newbie has. As newbies we tend to believe we can do it on our own and put our little knowledge to test. However, cryptos don't work that way. Our little knowledge can't carry us that far without first passing us through such an experience as you painted here. To succeed in cryptos, one needs the shoulders of giants to see far ahead. I passed through this same experience of having tokens with bloated princes on scan but couldn't sell them that price in reality. I think those tokens later became worthless. This is why researching before investing is important. Don't invest before researching. Doing so is like putting the cart before the horse.
2831  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone help me? on: May 30, 2022, 04:57:23 PM
~snipped~
For starters, you need to value your privacy a little more, which means you don't need to display your email in public - unless you want to get a lot of messages from people with malicious intent, or at best a lot of spam.
I think it's a throwaway email address as OP doesn't seem to care hiding it till now despite your warning. Many people who use Gmail addresses intentionally use them for that purpose.

OP, among the things you should care for is to avoid plagiarism like leprosy. Always reference sources of articles and stories you lift. Again, if you're here to earn; make sure to go about it in a legit manner. Earning on the forum is welcomed. In fact, it remains the driving force for traffic here. While at it, make sure to read and research and then contribute meaningfully to the community.
2832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you own 1 Bitcoin? (2022 edition) on: May 30, 2022, 03:55:56 PM
The more valuable Bitcoin becomes, the more difficult it becomes for many to have a single Bitcoin. Cumulatively, I believe I should be hodling one Bitcoin (at least) since my exposure to the crypto industry. Regrettably, I don't have ATM because of my involvement in trading and of using it in solving basic needs. I believe this is the same situation for most people too who've been here longer than five years. This is going to get worse with years as price and value increase.
2833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first gas station to accept Bitcoin in my region on: May 29, 2022, 05:39:44 PM
Thumbs up, dude! That's the right way to go – spread it everywhere we go! This is part of the reason I like youngsters (not old men) getting to run affairs heavily populated by the young. For instance example, the polity. Young people understand this modern happenings. Old men seldomly know how to grapple with new techs. Your innovation is in order. My only concern is the fluctuations and delays that has to come with Bitcoin transactions. I hope customers won't have to pass through hardship to accurate billing. Nigeria needs more of this.
2834  Other / Meta / Re: Email address when making reports on: May 29, 2022, 05:18:05 PM
No, there's no way to put turn it off because that's how the "Report to moderator" functions but I believe it is used to track the number of reports made by each user.
Seriously, I've wondered what's the need to expose reporters' emails since notes and responses to the report can be sent to reporters through PMs. It makes it look like exposing the privacy of those who use the "report to moderators" tab. It's like reporting a criminal at a police station and then police ask you to write down your name and address. It doesn't make sense, honestly. On a few occasions my posts were deleted, I got reports in pm here in the forum. So, it shows that asking for emails can be avoided and it won't destabilize the forum
2835  Other / Meta / Re: Remove "Report to moderator" from Wall Observer on: May 29, 2022, 04:58:02 PM
so maybe just put a piece of tape over it or something.
That, "put a tape over it" mention actually killed me with laughter 😂. A tape, indeed. Apart from plagiarism, I think since WO is a prediction thread we are bound to get so many junk and spam posts there. It's like what happens in all prediction and gambling threads. However, if you're so much concerned about the unhandled cases; I believe sending pm to mods will expedite action on that, expectedly. For plagiarism, using the relevant thread for it here to prove the case and draw attention of mods will suffice like Igehhh opined.
2836  Other / Meta / Re: What is the proper way to address a noun with a pronoun with Satoshi and others on: May 29, 2022, 02:31:31 PM
<Snip>
Sir isn't needed in any way. No one here is a "sir". We are random internet users that have gathered on a forum to discuss Bitcoin.
I addressed such a situation in my last paragraph in the quoted. If I met any user I addressed as Sir in reality online I won't lose my respect for them by dropping that appendage. I will still address then as sir. It's part of the African culture. We hardly address older people by their first names like they do in Europe. "Sir" is often used in a formal setting for someone you know is older or an office boss. I've people use it on me a lot, especially those I tutor and mentor. I've yo confess that this gets uncomfortable for me too whenever age mates or those older than I am use it. Even when you get to tell them to drop it; some still revert to using it.

If we are all equal, why are you giving my a title because I am white and you make it sound like I am better than you?
In Africa, the "Sir" is not like a title as they have it in Europe with the Knight stuff. And nope, it has got nothing to do with your race as white. It's a cultural practice in Africa as a mark of respect, not of fear. The same person saying "sir" to you can also show you "strong thing" when you mess around them or overreach yourself if you think they're timid. Saying "Sir" isn't a sign of weakness in anyway. While I can easily pass off non-eye contact thing as timidness, certainly not the use of "Sir".
2837  Other / Meta / Re: What is the proper way to address a noun with a pronoun with Satoshi and others on: May 28, 2022, 08:10:45 PM
Charles-Tim, it's the same way (this time) I feel social etiquette condemns the use of "Sir" on social media sites like we have here. I've read it even here where users termed it that it's disrespectful to say sir. I believe the reason for that won't be far from the fact that online users are often faceless and one may not be certain the gender of the person being addressed too like what happens with the use of an appropriate pronoun. Again, even when you know the gender; you could be addressing someone you're way older than. I find it irritating when people I think I'm younger than or in the same age bracket address me as sir. I tag it hypocrisy. So, I tend to be more circumspect dealing with people on that too. I simply address people without the "sir" appendage.

However, if I happen to meet someone I know offline on social media I make sure I retain that respect of addressing them appropriately. I can't lose my home training because I want to be woke 🧐. If I know someone is older than I am, I won't drag using it. Except they don't fancy it, and many people don't even fancy it this day.
2838  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin drops to $8k on: May 28, 2022, 05:14:08 PM
If this happen I will sell my currently Bitcoin holdings and repurchase again after it reaches $8,000
You said if that happened you would sell your current stash and then buy back at $8k. My question is this – How are you going to sell off when its price is finally down and then buy back? I know your operating word is a  condition with "if" but if you're ever contemplating it, now is the best time for you to sell off into a stablecoin and wait for Bitcoin dump to buy back more units with same amount.

Don't feel too shocked if $8k happens to Bitcoin. After all, Bitcoin lost 80% during the 2018/19 bear season.
2839  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I buy BTC or DCA other coins? on: May 28, 2022, 04:53:55 PM
is it worth taking such a step and investing in these currencies.
Definitely, it's worth investing more at a moment like this. However, you've to seek cryptos with high potential to survive and bounce back. Bitcoin readily comes to mind here. It's the surest of all cryptos to survive during bear season. I've witnessed it survive several falls, both mildly and severe falls. Bitcoin is a phoenix, literally a cat with more than nine lives. Also, Ethereum, BNB and Polkadot won't be bad ideas to have a look at.
2840  Other / Meta / Re: What is the proper way to address a noun with a pronoun with Satoshi and others on: May 28, 2022, 04:26:49 PM
According to what I just searched online, you can check this:

https://www.antimoon.com/forum/t1176.htm

I saw the date on the quoted as having been made in Nov 2005. That's close to 15 years in retardation, right? Well, back to the issue at hand and on the point of correctness; I was given to understand that the reason "it" is used for inanimate objects. It's because they don't have any language. It can also be used for humans when they're less than the age of having a language and this is why people like to refer to foetus and toddlers below six months as "it". Otherwise, grammar scholars will tell you that it's inappropriate to use it for humans in general. There's nothing in the actual sense that someone doesn't have a particular gender they can be identified with. Even a hermaphrodite does have a dominating sex organ.
