1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just lost $4000 because of addresses starting with "bc1p" on: January 15, 2023, 06:16:26 PM
I quite agree that the bc1p wallet address (or any other) may not be perfect as there isn't any conception of man that doesn't have its demerit. However, like what user mk4 asked in post three here which hasn't still been answered. Let me mildly reiterate. OP, we still want to know how you lost that four grand. Not that I doubt your story but it's so that the rest of us will know how to escape a similar situation in future.

Some people will take comments you make on a forum very personally and you do not know what they might do to get back at you. We have seen feuds in the forum for years and sometimes they have gotten very personal.
Well, I got your drift on that. I've even followed some posts here where threats on life had been made. It's really sad that people go to that length. I think this is where the ignore button should serve its purpose. I don't hesitate to activate it whenever I discover someone is trolling me. I hate what I don't like, as they say jovially.
1863  Other / Meta / Re: Users Changed Name 2023 on: January 15, 2023, 03:50:08 PM
Just a heads up: There's a chance that some people might've requested a username change for privacy purposes, and such threads kind of defeats the purpose of the name change.
If not for this thread I wouldn't have known that Murat was iwantapony. I know I came across that user's posts a great deal when I started newly here but all of a sudden I couldn't find them again. I concluded the user had stopped posting; not knowing they only changed identity. However, if I may ask what security or privacy reason would make anyone change username when this is just an online forum. We don't even have a physical presence. I don't see any cogent reason for that. If it were for a reason to brand or rebrand their businesses, then we could say yes they've a reason for that. Otherwise, I wouldn't take the privacy or security angle to mean anything. Do people truly get scared online when they haven't done any wrong?
1864  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on revenge trading? on: January 15, 2023, 02:48:06 PM
Truth is that every losing trader wants to catch up and recover their losses but that will depend on the mindset adopted. No trader should back out because they're losing. However, it's good to do the chase with a clear head. Otherwise, the trader keeps losing. Those who take a break because they've suffered losses and then come back without reviewing their trading plans and strategies will keep losing. It doesn't matter how long they absent themselves from the market. The market is the master. No matter how angry traders are at their losses, they ought to reckon that they can't take a pound of flesh from the market.
1865  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: copytrading on: January 15, 2023, 01:49:53 PM
Before you mirror someone else's trade you should first find out the repercussions in it. There's this mischievousness of market markers hunting down stoploss and that is bound to wipe big accounts, definitely copy traders will be affected too. Again, from your $100 you will have to pay certain commission to the trader you're copying their trades if at all you make any profit from it. The best advice will be for you to learn how to trade yourself.
1866  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it safe to buy now? on: January 15, 2023, 10:28:34 AM
On the hindsight, you can see that last week was a better time to buy than now. Anyone who had been afraid of going in before now will have missed the bus as it seems. In cryptocurrency, if you're scared shit to lose money then the industry isn't for you. Again, OP you've to brace up for enough digging and research if you want to go far in this industry and not perpetually seek the opinions of others on things you ordinarily should find out by yourself.
1867  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Btgg666 Exchange Experiences on: January 15, 2023, 08:54:05 AM
You may like to move this thread to Exchnages.
I would think, "Reputation" sub-board is more appropriate for it.

In the christiandom there's a believe attached to the number "666"
So, you're also clairvoyant like that? That was the same question I asked one of our late members – Becky666, the first time I interacted with him. That number is ominous, for me.

In general, this is not the right time to be looking for new exchanges as if you are looking for new gambling sites with faucet. The exchanges are not having a nice time, go with what you trust.
Exactly! Why would anyone who wants to choose an exchange not look at the trust rating of the exchange in the first place? I mean, one can easily find that on coin sites like coingecko and CMC. It's an easy thing to do.
1868  Other / Meta / Re: Why are account farmers still left to roam free in the forum? on: January 12, 2023, 12:36:16 PM
Sometimes, I force myself to look at the way theymos runs this forum as the best way. He's liberal to the point that he doesn't want members to be unnecessarily hurt. Clamping down on the excesses of members which aren't covered in the forum rules as prohibited will be an arbitrary use of power and I believe that isn't what theymos wants. OP, closing such threads or banning such members who indulge in account or merit sales isn't stated anywhere here. So, the best disciplinary approach to it is what other members do to culprits of such by tagging those accounts found guilty. By doing that the bought accounts are rendered useless because they can't achieve the aim for which they are purchased – to get into signature campaigns.
1869  Other / Meta / Re: Cybersecurity subforum on: January 12, 2023, 11:00:23 AM
Would it be a good idea to have cybersecurity subforum?
I'm all for it. It's a great idea to have such a subforum. Cyber security is a thing with anything and everything online and it will be nice to have a dedicated section of this forum for it just like what we've with "Reputation". We know where to check the integrity of users or companies when in doubt for verification or to open scam accusations on them. It should also be so for Cyber security.
1870  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on the phone? on: January 12, 2023, 10:00:52 AM
It's fun accessing the forum on phone. I can't even remember what the forum looks like on PC anymore. I only accessed it on it a few times when I started out in 2017 and then I turned to phone. I hate having to open my PC whenever I want to access the forum outside my home because I don't like people looking over my shoulders into what I'm doing. With my phone it's a piece of cake being on the forum. All you've to do is adjust your font size and zoom in or out while reading. With the way my keyboard is set I don't even need to zoom in to read if I don't want to as I can see the complete page that way. However, I like zooming it while I type to fasten it up.

1872  Economy / Speculation / Re: what If Bitcoin Price never comes up on: January 10, 2023, 08:29:37 PM

please explain me why bitcoin will make another all time high or explain some circumstances in that bitcoin's price  will go more low and never or after long times later comes up
Well, the simplest explanation to offer you will be to ask you to check historical data. There you will see how price performs its dance. I've experienced two bear seasons and from there drawn my conclusion that Bitcoin is a phoenix, a paradoxical cat with nine lives. It won't die. No matter how crushed price seems today, just keep buying. It will revive sooner than anyone expects. I expect Bitcoin to record another ATH of $100k+ this next bull season that will come up in 2024.
1873  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Store your seed phrase offline on: January 10, 2023, 07:37:09 PM
Individuals must learn how to tighten the safety of whatever they use in securing their funds, whether offline or online; whether software or hardware.
They should do their works silently.

If nobody knows they are rich, they are less likely become targets of thieves. If nobody around you knows you are cryptocurrency investor, you will less likely be in their radars.
I guess the paparazzi thing engulfing cryptocurrency is because of the preponderance of youngsters coming into the industry who erroneously equate the industry with the entertainment industry where public display of cash and affluence is a thing. We all know how exuberant youngsters can be. Being in this industry is supposed to entail secrecy and privacy. Those who keep and shield themselves from public scrutiny enjoy their new found riches quietly and in peace. Those who don't find themselves constantly harassed by the public.
1874  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Those who survived previous winter, please share some courage! on: January 10, 2023, 06:42:38 PM
Those who've seen previous bear markets, survived several winters, please share some hope and courage.
This is not the end, right? Smiley
Certainly, it's not the end of the world; neither is it of the crypto industry. At a time like this, filled with uncertainty and fear, you should maintain your cool. Don't panic, instead keep buying the dip with Bitcoin. I've experienced two full Bitcoin circles and I can confidently tell you that Bitcoin will come out better once the current bear season is over. Instead of fear and panic, buy whenever the market crashes.
1875  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance lots of FUD on: January 10, 2023, 05:32:36 PM
When Binance exposed FTX, it's expected that they also faced the same issue because Binance is relatively the same on FTX because they are the same centralized exchange.
Even if both are centralized exchanges, I will like to quote this – Among thieves there's honour. Binance may be a centralized exchange but it could be trying to do right. We have to know that evil doesn't keep mute when being exposed to the world. It fights back. This is what I observe with the so much FUD going on around Binance since CZ Binance lambasted  Sam Fried and his scammy FTX exchange. May be more FUD will still come in days to come.

Paper has even more limitations. It burns, it breaks, it can get lost, it can be read by random people if they find it, the ink can be damaged by water...
I read all the arguments you put out there against saving seedphrases on paper. They're valid points but you also have to know that no system is infallible. Every system has its peculiarity and can't be said to be perfect. I think the greater part of the task in security our wallets lies with us. Individuals must learn how to tighten the safety of whatever they use in securing their funds, whether offline or online; whether software or hardware.

1878  Economy / Reputation / Re: Campaign managers acting as Escrow on: January 09, 2023, 09:36:58 PM
But that doesn't stop him from being held responsible for what happen, and in your own case too.
From all that I've read about the ongoing case, Julerz hasn't denied responsibility for what happened. If anything, he has several times admitted that he fucked up by being too relaxed on his wallet security while at the same time he has offered to sell off his bike to raise cash for the repayment of the debts he has incurred on this. I hope he doesn't get tagged by some until this situation is resolved. His account and the bounty he manages here are his only sources of income, according to his confession. Getting his account tagged will destroy it and keep him out of business. That will be double jeopardy.

~snipped~
I would like to kill myself right now but I would prefer another alternative as I have two kids whom I would very much like to see grow up.
Gosh! Come on man. Don't get suicidal, no matter what the situation is. That won't solve anything, instead it will exacerbate the situation for those who care about you. I'm a father too and I can understand this pain of one losing their source of income. Yes, the hurtful words will come in torrents as this is ongoing but you've to grow a thick skin at a time like this by finding a way out. That way out should be centred on repaying the debts to both companies. Nothing else can be a better strategy. We all make mistakes and mistakes they say is a natural human flaw in all.
1880  Economy / Reputation / Re: I've been hacked on: January 09, 2023, 05:22:48 PM
This isn't looking good at all, even on the forum. No matter how I (or anyone else) want to say you're one of the reputable managers here, facts and concrete evidence are going to be needed to prove your innocence to start with. This isn't a situation anyone will wish to be in. My advice to you is to lay the facts of what happened bare. What you've in the OP isn't enough to convince anyone yet.
