thanks guys yeah i have the second cheapest power in utah , the first cheapest place is 1.9-3c kwh one of the reasons i have such cheap power is because my facility is located on an agricultural farm so they get a discounted rate because of the amnount of power required to run the water pumps on the farm Indeed, if you got 2c or 4c per KWh in Utah, it's very ******* good. Utah is a very beautiful place. It will be very ******** nice to mining there. The cost of living is not so high as NY or LA, isn't ?? cheers !!! yes it is im originally from new jersey and utah is a much cheaper place to live by alot Wish all farms have that. My mining area is on a family farm as it had the electricity capacity in the Midwest. I pay more then that though. Don't have the water pumps though with midwest luckily rain does it most years. Although more and more water pump are showing up.

Hi guys, need your help. i have antminer u3 installation with zadig done and i have problem with this miner. No detected USB Devices.
Zadig can be a pain for some. Did it say successful on install? You might try again. Also long term a RPI or R1 is best to control it as does not take a big computer to run. So might look into that longterm.

UPS and Fedex both seem to work fine for me. DHL is really hit/miss depending on where you live, I live on the edge of one of the routes. This means the DHL guy receives it quickly then sometimes ships through USPS mail when he does not want to drive to my edge of his route.... so sucks horribly and adds day's.
I really like UPS thought. I've had probley the best luck with them overall.
Same here... Better luck with UPS. The only time I use DHL is for any shipments I may get from J4bberwock in France. The DHL driver will call me and I will meet them at Wendy's Restraunt about 15 minutes away to avoid having to wait longer. I see, i used DHL to receive the one B8 i bought and it took an amazing 4 days(to Québec), so i received it the same week, i was able to pay duty online to avoid "delays" even though that was probably BS. And it was the cheapest. All in all i liked my experience, UPS tend to be a bit slow, though i never had any actual problem with them whatsoever. Fedex however, i had really bad experience and i plan on not using them ever again. I had good experience with CP/USPS too but its not an option here. And everyone has their own best. Once you find it stick with it. DHL is only one I have had not deliver and ship through USPS to my door when they could have delivered that day, so they add 2-3 extra day's on almost anything I get with them. But for some they are in the center of the drivers area and it is good on DHL. Just varies for each person. But DHL if you don't get "DHL Door to Door" which most packages don't have (in my experience at least) they have the right to ship 3rd party like USPS to get to you. And it's all up to driver on if they do that, so edge of delivery area experiences this much more.

Can't find that info on Bitmain site. EBay site shows many FAN as being S7 fans using up to 21.6Watts but I don't believe it as it shows Max RPM at 4500 when S7 fans can do up to 5K RPM. Yeah, see the 36watts does make me worry if it's too much and can kill the controller like some strong fan can do to a motherboard. =(
1) Is FAN 1 the Rear intake fan or exhaust FAN? 2) Is 36Watts an issue for Avalon 6?
It worked fine in a S4, and was one of the recommended replacements on S4's. But as far as S7 and Avalon 6's I don't think I have seen anyone mention using it. I would say if you do watch it and see what temps are doing with it.

Hey All -
I started buying BTC about a month ago in a Coinbase account. I have transferred some of the BTC to Xapo...
I keep seeing people mention how important it is to not lose your private key. To write it down and put it in a safe deposit box.
What is the private key? Is it just my wallet address?
Thanks!
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_keycoinbase and xapo doesnt give you full control over your private key, dont use them to store large amount of bitcoins Coinbase is partially due to their insurance policy. As long as it's Coinbase hacked and not your account where it's your fault they are suppose to have a insurance policy to cover it. If they gave out private key it would defeat their idea of how they keep it secure. But you are 100 percent trusting Coinbase with your coins as without having private key nothing you can do to recover if they ran off or something (which granted is very small possibility).

Well, this forum has been hacked before though I'm not suggesting it was in this case. You might have picked up a keylogger or something like that, who knows. I don't. Be careful and don't trust anything around here.
It's been quite a while since that hack. If you did not change password since then it would possible I guess but they seemed to go after special accounts when it happened, like Mt. Gox and some other big name accounts. I guess no matter reason you will need to find something where you posted a bitcoin address and can prove you still own it through signature. Best is if you staked an address if not it will be harder to find one. Others reading if you have not staked and address you really should. Also it can be a slow process to get account back.

It's hard for me to imagine an S8 with same form factor as the S2 and S4 because they would need more than one PSU inside more than likely. However, I'm not saying they won't do it. It's hard to say what they will or will not do.
I agree and think we have seen the end of the even numbered Series. I think they have, for the moment, decided to standardise on a single form factor and for greater Hash in a single unit go for the 3 Bay S5+ style unit. A lot less development work and more common components. What form factor(s) they decide go for with BM1386 we will have to wait & see? Rich It is sad as I liked the even miners with PSU was really nice. But I would agree I think we not see a S8. S4's were one of my favorite miners I have had with nice build quality and LCD's. Also at end I did well on resell so I really liked them. I was lucky though and never had a PSU quit on mine. I predict we see another 3 bay again on future miners, it allows them to use same cases they are already getting made. And I think will still use the bitmain psu they are selling, adds to profit selling a psu ontop of miner. I'm not to sure when it will happen though. I think they will be on current gen for a while longer (I could be wrong though all speculation).

if you can't change voltage you can't overclock or underclock
1 TH is upper limit.
My AntC1 can't change voltage
Are you sure??? I've seen OC sets up with people running the chips @275mzh 0800v getting ~1.5TH/s 50% clock is awesome lol I had 2 and never got near 1.5T. It's been a while since I owened the C1's though. That seems to high to be true, do you have any pictures of one doing 1.5T? I can't imagine pushing them this hard. 50 percent of already pushed is hard to get. That is only reason I am asking of picture of 1.5T with C1.

I am glad to hear this, but the whole process is truly convoluted to say the least. Spond was providing HST on the airbill. I don't see why BMT cannot do the same-the number that you researched. as far as UPS/FEDEX from China-UPS is a bit faster, FEDEX is a bit cheaper and FEDEX is more prone to get stuck according to others (over the last two years or so), but i never experienced this myself. i am using UPS from BMT, but FEDEX ground domestically, especially in vicinity as it is both cheap and fast.
Same here. I've tried both and liked the speed of UPS. I've had UPS do a total of 9 shipments for me from China thus far. 8 of them went flawlessly. This last one, however, ended up creating cause for concern. I've had people who chose both UPS and FedEx go through a similar situation as mine. Hence, the reasoning behind me taking the following action: 1. Add the proper HST CODE out to the right of my street address for my account at bitmaintech.com 2. Add the proper HST CODE out to the right of my Federal EIN/SSN number for my business on my account at bitmaintech.com 3. Have UPS call me from now on anytime a shipment for me arrived inside the US from another country to allow me to provide the proper HST CODE. 4. Add a NOTE to the carrier on bitmain's website when placing the order that includes the proper HST CODE.

Either way you will lose money. Therefore my advice would be to buy a miner for a hobby. Play with it and enjoy yourself.
The more money spend on your miner, the more money is being wasted..
It's not 100 percent either way there are so many individual variables. You can't say all will lose or win on ROI. A lot has to do with electricity price. Some have very very low electricity which makes them still possible to ROI. And some sell at right time of miner and ROI. But it is true it's getting harder and harder to ROI. No longer is a 3 month guaranteed ROI.

Avoid services referred to as "Cloud Mining" like the plague, they are mostly Ponzi-based scams.
Always check the links people provide you for websites around here, many of them will have a hidden referral code that you won't see unless you hover your mouse over the link and read the full address displayed by your browser. Referral codes are where a user gets paid by the scam site for every new sucker they send over, few legitimate businesses uses them.
This isn't to say that the absence of a referral code means a service someone recommends is legit, either.
Basically understand this, cryptocurrency is an unregulated finance industry, tread *extremely* carefully.
I have to give you some credit on your signature... looks like a certain cloud mining site that pushes it hard. Not 100 percent are bad. Look at hashnest if you truly need to cloud mine, it is the most popular I would say as of right now that is not a ponzi. It is not guaranteed profit though, be aware of that going into it. The ones who do really well seem to be those who sell at right time, which can be hard to know when that is. The block erupter mentioned up above is not a bad idea, but I would look in group buys and get a compac from sidehack. If you get that a powered hub, and RPI. You will not make ROI but you will be able to learn mining at a low cost.

amazing, 6 fans ? 3 or 4 psu to power 1 miner ?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
GL to those who do not have 220/240V
mobile bbq machine, hot air blower
It would take 220/240 for pretty much everyone if they do a S7+. It will no doubt will be a lot of watts if they use it. To run so many 110/120 vs 220/240 wires would not make much sense. With winter it is not that hard for most on cooling. In my mining area I have turned down all the fan's. But it would not be a issue if they put one out for me. Biggest thing that would matter to me is price.

Completely new to bitcoin mining and wanted to get into it as i have free power for a few months. locally there are a few people who have antminer s3's and i wanted to know approximately what the current resell value on this fourm is assuming fully working. Apoloes if im not posting this in the right place
This is a good location, though good odds you were moved here. Anyways; 100USD without the PSU. You should be able to ROI before your few months of electricity run out. So it would be a decent deal if you resell them at the end of your "free electricity" period for some extra profits. Good luck. A lot do the resell them at end so Virosa is giving pretty good advice on making most of the "free" time you have. On PSU's you can use them for multiple generations, so it is not to bad on having them around. Also you can sell the PSU if need be in the end. S3's were built tanks so they should be mining for quiet a while longer just the S3 miners are getting kinda dated for those who pay electricity.

For me, its blockchain.info
It is a good hot wallet there is no doubt about it. But it's not going to suit all needs. I have come to point I think you need multiple wallets and it depends on your usage what is best for you. A all hot wallet or all cold wallet is not best. It is a mixture, and possibly hardware in that mix depending on how many coins your using.

Anyone know if these 14awg (thicker wires) cables are good enough (2 wires per connector - ground & power) for the Avalon 6? http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Bitmain-Antminer-S1-S3-S5-S7-SP20-Gridseed-6pin-14-AWG-Power-Supply-Cables-/181837555754Or would it just be safer to get 16awg (not as thick as 14awg) cables that have 6 wires (3 ground & 3 power) per PCI-e connector? It seems like it will look cleaner when connecting to a server PSU breakout board. Since it's only (14awg) 4 power + 4 ground wires total, compared to (16awg) 12 power + 12 ground wire total connecting to the breakout board on a server PSU. Sort answer: NOWhile the 14Ga wire is better, it then funnels all the power into a just ONE 12V pin on the connector. That pin isn't rated for more than about 7-8 Amps, and that assumes it's a nice solid fit. Much better to have all the pins carrying power. I saw one setup that has a single 14Ga wire that then was split to the 3 pins on the connector. Much better. Holy crap I missed the cable was going all through one pin. That is a horrible idea, I would avoid at all costs. There are some on the forums that make cables. I would look on here some Phil has a good show of of Finksy/J4bbrwock gear - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1284563.0

Hi, i want buy a antminer S7, is too late or i can buy and make a profit?
No, it's not too late to buy an S7. No, it's not too late to "turn a profit", depending on your circumstances. You need to NOT pay a significant tariff/tax/whatever, you'll also need to have low electricity costs, and have a place (with Internet access) that is OK to have 1300W loud heater running 24/7. NOTE: If you invest $1250, and get back $1251 after running costs, you have "turned a profit". Only you can decide if it's worth the effort and risk. It's also worth noting that for most folks, you'll have to have BTC increase in value to realize a profit during the time that you have the miner. If the value of BTC declines during the time you own the miner, you'll almost certainly lose money. Yes, it's too late to "get rich quick" by doing nothing and taking no risk. I would agree people wanting to get rich quick it's no longer 3 month ROI guarenteed almost like it once was. And part of mining is doing it as you enjoy it. If your 100 percent in it for money... there are probley better investments out there for you. You have to enjoy btc and mining to really be worth while. One thing to keep in mind is a lot mine and sell it eventually. So for some the selling at end makes or breaks ROI. Others it's a bonus ontop with selling. But selling and finding it a cheaper electricity or free electricity owner is a good boost in profit's compared to sitting in corner if you are not mining them
