2841  Other / Meta / Re: [Bitcointalk Party - Discord sv] Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by 29 May on: May 28, 2022, 06:46:29 AM

This is more like how I love pizza, dry like fried egg. Sadly, I can't even make one to save my life 😢. You guys who can bake are the heroes.

I ain't laughing, seriously. Though that looks like a misinformed donut. 🙊
2842  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: May 28, 2022, 06:32:10 AM
I would also like to support the request of these guys to create a separate local section for them.
Thanks lovesmayfamilis for your unbiased assessment. You've written as objective as it can be on this issue. It can't be truer than it's already. I see the great work and effort you also put in this forum to help make it better. As a colleague, I appreciate your effort in all you do. Come to think of it, there are a good number of our members here who have embarked on sensitizing rural and urban Nigerian towns about Bitcoin and this forum. Brainboss and a few others did that in the past during the charitable campaigns and there are some who still conduct seminars in this regard. A local board for us is a win for this forum. We're partners in progress.
2843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you a trader or a hodler? on: May 27, 2022, 06:02:12 PM
Remember that this is not financial advice

But of course, you should know that people aren't free taking financial advice from newbie accounts. So, don't overthink this.

Quote
When to hodl:
1. When the coin has a history of rebounding from dips e.g Bitcoin.
For now, Bitcoin is the only trusted crypto to do that – rebound from severe dump. Others can rely on stroke of luck.

With that being said the decision to sell and hold depends on your conviction about how the asset is performing.
This is word on marble
2844  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Freewallet.org 60K DOGE Scam on: May 27, 2022, 04:06:53 PM
people come here after they've got scammed, instead of doing a little background check before entrusting a random website to hold their coins.
It's the need to get solution that drives people here once they've got themselves in an entanglement. Only a patient seeks medical attention and that can only explain this situation better. Most times one thinks everything is fine with sites one is visiting only to find out that's not the case after one has made financial commitments. In 2017/18, I can't say Freewallet had any of such issues. It was among the top and easy to use wallets then. I also had and used it. In fact, till date I still have some cryptos (nothing major, anyway) in it which I haven't bothered to check back on for a few years now. If I lose those cryptos I won't be bothered much because they aren't worth much. Nonetheless, 60,000 units of Dogecoin is something to be worried about.
2845  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Emotions on: May 27, 2022, 03:37:41 PM
~snipped~
I guess it's easy to say to take control of our emotions and get rid of it, but in reality, its really hard to trade without emotions involved.
Yes, I know it's a difficult thing for a every trader to put their emotion in check while at it. That's why I even rated it above MM in my previous comment. However, control of emotion is an art and there are some who have mastered that art. Nothing is that difficult for anyone not to achieve once they've their mind set on it. Result may not happen immediately but with time and patience it surely will come. Remember that patience is a virtue in trading. It's the same way we cultivate emotional discipline with time. Professional traders don't trade on impulse, no matter what. They take their time; and taking that time is the emotional control.
2846  Economy / Reputation / Re: Any Rules for Bounty Manager? on: May 26, 2022, 03:20:45 PM
I dont think DT is going to polic bounty managers for this. The decision of the manager is final, whether you like it or not.
DT members aren't much interested in bounty and that explains why there's so much rot there with managers acting arbitrarily. While I acknowledge that everyone here is an adult who makes and takes decisions as they deem fit on their own, and should be responsible for whatever outcome their decisions throw on them; I sincerely think the same measure of strictness adopted that have brought sanity we experience in BTC paying campaigns should be applied on the bounty section. If DT members continue to overlook the bounty section and allow bounty managers have their way, it will gradually spoil the reputation of this forum with time.

2848  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should I buy BTC or DCA other coins? on: May 24, 2022, 04:12:32 PM
Not to be rude — but if you're asking us (or need our confirmation) before you make your decision, you probably don't understand what you're planning on investing in yet.
Yeah, while I agree that it's not ideal to ask random people for financial advice; I think some people do that to strengthen what option(s) they tentatively have in mind.

For OP, I think your best bet now will be to buy BTC (and since you don't have any bit at all, make it mandatory). Your other options are not that bad, but I trust that BTC will give you a better ROI compared to them. Again, with BTC you're sure the investment won't find its way into thin air.
2849  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Emotions on: May 24, 2022, 02:29:07 PM
Let me slightly overlook OP's antics and concentrate on the title of this thread. Yes, for me, trading emotion is the most important aspect of trading besides money management. This aspect of trading has kept many a trader from becoming profitable. Show me a trader who isn't emotionally disciplined and I will point to you one who isn't profitable. Giving that the market isn't a straight forward one, there are uncertainties in price movements which exist to shake off traders. Only those who are emotionally disciplined stick to their trading plan, no matter what. Know when to steer clear of the market if trade setups aren't clear. Don't force the market.
2850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Ken on Bitcoin on: May 24, 2022, 07:57:19 AM
Job opportunity? But looking like training. Just a day training? That is just like a scam, though it is just $3. This happen often in my country and it is just a scam if it is just a day training.
I met a lot of that during my job hunting days but I already told myself before I left school that any job vacancy that demanded money from me was a scam. I programmed by brain to always sound the alarm bell and that was what helped me escape them. Come to think of it, it's desperation that makes those who fall for such cheap vice do. They convince themselves that it could be real without minding the red light (which always there before someone falls victim). Again, anything seminar on forex or cryptos that's only for a day is an obvious scam. What can anyone teach on this in a day? The least that could make sense should be for five days to a week and then with a follow-up mentorship.
2851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding my horses for now on: May 24, 2022, 07:36:15 AM
Is buying bitcoin right now the same with buying later? I stopped buying because it looks like Bitcoin dips isn't over, imagine buying at 19k per Bitcoin, I think the whole idea of investment is when you are buying not running after the best coins in the market, buying them cheap is better or I don't get it?.
To even shock you, I read someone made a forecast that Bitcoin will plummet to $14k – $15k. As scary as that is, it won't be out of place if it happens. Though I believe that won't happen. My confidence that it won't happen stems from the fact of the involvement of institutional investors who are long term in their investment approach. This will, in a way, help steady the tide of further collapse of the Bitcoin market. However, whatever happens during this bear I will remain unfazed. I've seen worse in this industry to make me panic now. I guess that should also be the attitude of users here. OP, you can DCA or you pend around where you think the market can revert. Don't wait for an imaginary bottom. It doesn't exist in the real sense.
2852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting up and trying again on: May 24, 2022, 06:18:16 AM
Nothing good that is so value comes easily,  their must be storms that would want to stop but all you  need to do is to put effort to get to the end. All this challenges that always their are distraction that are meant to be .
Don't be conclusive that nothing good comes easily. What about air 🤔. Anyway, I guess I know what you're trying to say. Challenges are necessary obstacles and barriers man has to overcome in life for gain glory, though a great number of people don't what challenges coming their way. Gold is what it's because it passed through fire for refinement. By the way, the word you've consistently misspelt in this post is, "there". It shouldn't be spelt as their as used.
2853  Economy / Reputation / Re: Any Rules for Bounty Manager? on: May 24, 2022, 05:12:27 AM
Honestly, it beggars the question of why scam accounts and activities aren't banned here but plagiarism is, at the slightest discovery. A few bounty managers are effortlessly disparaging this forum by their activities. They sign on to bounties and mostly only care for their paycheck. Hunters are often left in the lurch and this isn't good. Rewards aren't paid as when due. Most times rewards aren't paid out at all and that ends it. The BMs, knowing that DT and highly ranked members who could call them out don't participate in bounties have utilized this to go rogue. I remember calling a BM out a few years ago and all they could do was retaliatory, instead of amicably resolving the issue. I know there are users here who would argue that if anyone didn't like the way they're treated they shouldn't participate in bounties. Sadly, arguing that way won't be an approach to resolving this lingering scamming activity. In 2017/18, a few signature campaigns managers who wanted to go that route were severely dealt with and that straightened the whole thing up. That's why we see the type of sanity we have in BTC paying campaigns today. I think that should also be the call of action for rogue BMs. Enough of this maltreatment of bounty hunters.
2854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another warning for every NEWBIE! on: May 23, 2022, 09:44:54 PM
I saw a post online in our local group about money investing and he shared his experience their about losing all his life saving money because of $LUNA investment, this is very heart breaking and that guy really want to end his life which I hope he wont do it.
Cryptos isn't for sissies and weaklings. It's for men with heart of steel. Even the caveat of not investing money you can't afford to lose euphemistically reveals that. So, if anyone comes baby crying that they lost all in crypto and think that suicide is their best way out I will hand them a noose. They think crypto is a get rich quick scheme and they want to breeze in and then walk out with a loaded briefcase with cash.

Well, the points in your advice are notable and correct. However, dragging in just Luna alone as a scapegoat into your post makes it look personal. There are several other altcoins which will soon follow the way of Luna in time to come. It's the pattern in crypto. Newbies should invest more in Bitcoin than alts. It's not as if Bitcoin doesn't dump. It's just that it's the only one sure to rise whenever that dip happens.
2855  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to proper trade in you asset in this market situation? on: May 23, 2022, 07:37:21 PM
I want to quickly align my thought with users who've identified that no one truly knows where the bottom is for those who think the best strategy during a bear is to buy the bottom. There's truly no such thing as bottom or top, except from hindsight. Trading is a highly speculative engagement. No one truly has a perfect timing for entry and exit. However, let me quickly suggest steps you can take during a bear market as your question demands:

1. Don't sell your asset if you're already in loss to buy into another asset. You can tether it and wait for an opportunity to buy more.
2. Practice DCA. That's if you still have cash you won't miss by the side and you feel the asset you're chasing has utility. Otherwise, let it go.
3. Stake the asset if it's stakable. That way you make passive income from it while waiting for the market to rebound.
2856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Meritocracy on: May 23, 2022, 10:39:38 AM
On Bitcointalk merit is a reward for uniqueness, content, solution, contribution, creativity, quality service rendered and value added posts.
All those attributes you enumerated are good to consider when meriting posts but you've to know that in reality we don't necessarily see life issues as apples and oranges. There are diverse angles to life, and not as black and white or short and tall as opposites. The reality is that those attributes are abstract and can only be determined by the assessment of whoever is utilizing or analysing them. This is why I continue to maintain that meriting a post is subjective. Haven't you had any of your posts merited which didn't have any of the lofty attributes you mentioned, a post which you felt wasn't what you would write? Yet, someone splashed merit on it?
2857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be patient, don't get discouraged. on: May 23, 2022, 08:55:25 AM
some people join this forum to do bounty work like i do. and lower rank usually get little reward especially signature bounty
In the real sense, they don't have to do signature bounty if they're low ranked. They should wisely stick to social media bounties of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc where ranks don't really count but number of followers one has.

At times it's a misleads information which some who might introduce them might informed them that bitcointalk community is where people make money, and when them come, the information that was passed through for them is not what they see.
That may be a reason. However, there's also the issue of how already established users relate to newly registered ones too. Sometimes, the harshness in response can weigh noob users down and they're likely to feel they aren't needed. Thus, exit. Not everyone knows that here is a tough place to be and that one needs a thick skin to survive. I think we veterans should find a more cordial approach to issues regarding newbies. There's this saying that every experienced person was once inexperienced; every professional was once an amateur. That's true.
2858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Limitations of Bitcoin Utilization in Africa on: May 22, 2022, 06:32:12 PM
MINING OF BITCOIN:

Due to weather, and lack of cheap electricity, I think this are another limitations in setting up a Bitcoin mining farm, as getting one down here would cost them huge sum's for Asics, coz they'll thrive in hot ends. Improvisation can be done with the sun for solar energy though.
I had a discussion today with someone who showed me a website for mining BTCs on phone. I laughed myself to stupor. To make matters worse, one has to provide personal information like ID or passport digits. I bluntly told the person to desist from visiting such a site. It's a waste of time and one's data could be sold on the dark web.
2859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't trade your Bitcoin like Laszlo Hanyecz on: May 22, 2022, 04:03:43 PM
Well, today is the main celebration of the Bitcoin Pizza day. May 22 marks the 12th anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day, a day when the cryptocurrency was used in a real-world transaction for the first time.
Actually, today is more like a Laszlo Day. Attention should be on him for making Bitcoin transaction believable. Many of us think (as it's today and now) that Laszlo was wrong to have made that deal because it would've worth a lot in today's world. Truth is that Bitcoin was worth what it was exchanged for then. Not many a people believed then that Bitcoin could be worth a fraction of what it's worth today and that was why it took Laszlo some time to even get his buyer at that exchange. I've read several articles in the past where Laszlo said he didn't have any regret doing what he did then. So, I think we shouldn't cry more than the bereaved on that issue. Yes, quite alright the value is worth a crazy figure now but I don't believe Laszlo would've kept his stash till date and had that benefit. He would've sold off during one of those FUD days before 2017.
2860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phones on mobile wallet becoming riskier on: May 22, 2022, 02:18:13 PM
Now, that's scary. I've never thought in that direction, and you're right.
It's not just about data security on the device, but also about protecting our privacy - although jealous women (but also husbands) don't mind peeking into their partner's device from time to time.
You know, the smartphone I use has this feature that I can activate that makes my phone unlocks itself whenever I'm around a certain area. However, it scares me to activate and use that feature till date. It's because of incidence like you've described that hasn't made me come around to using it. Device manufacturers want to make life easier for their users and then thieves want to beat users to it. It's good to know and select what features we should activate on our devices so as to further strengthen our security and not the opposite. Once again, thanks for the insight.
