FYI: Theymos banned the original Atlas for, and among other things, trying to bribe him.

~Bruno~

is there link for that i can read on ? what was the bribe about ?

Here's the reddit thread with atlas ranting about it, it's pretty funny.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/naq79/hopefully_theymos_doesnt_consider_himself_a/

This thread talks about it a little bit on the last couple pages.

2862  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dutch Merganser is Matthew N. Wright on: April 14, 2012, 03:35:27 PM
So what I'm getting from this thread is Atlas is starved for attention since Matthew is ignoring him, and paranoia is beginning to set in.
2863  Other / Politics & Society / Re: George Zimmerman arrested for 2nd degree murder for killing Trayvon Martin on: April 12, 2012, 06:22:31 AM
It's about time that douchebag got arrested.

2865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's face would you like to see on official BTC currency? on: April 11, 2012, 01:38:55 PM
i agree that skipping the faces would be best.  do a google image search for cryptography, and browse various cryptographic devices through history.

Yeah if you did feel the need to have an honorific image on each coin/note/bill I would use things like enigma machine, babbages analytical engine,  5970 PCB (the classic although slowly being displaced by FPGA) hashing engine, etc.

Agreed, faces aren't a very good idea.
2866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Encourage George Zimmerman (Florida self-defense shooting victim) to accept BTC on: April 11, 2012, 06:34:31 AM
Yeah, not donating to someone who stalked and killed an unarmed man. Self defense  Roll Eyes
2867  Economy / Goods / Re: (1) FREE $500 Amazon Code giveaway. Make a comment in this thread. on: April 10, 2012, 04:07:18 PM
Fine. If I win, I promise to spend the entirety of the reward, not sell it for comparatively tiny profit. I'll buy graphics cards and new MoBos so the starving African children may rest peacefully while the underpaid, suicidal Chinese may work their asses off.

Pfft, I'll print the code on a dollar bill and light a cigar with it to show how hardcore I am.
2868  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Evidence for Goat lying on his TyGrr-Bank operation? on: April 10, 2012, 04:03:05 PM
I haven't been keeping up with that thread and it's hard to tell with the deleted posts and edits, but is it possible he was saying he was overpaid by the amount of 285, not that that was what was received?
2869  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cryptography solution to Fermi's paradox. on: April 10, 2012, 06:26:37 AM
You obviously haven't read "Anvil of Stars" by Greg Bear which talks about a universe in which being able to hide from other species is the single most important survival strategy because of the existence of destructive Von Neumann machines.

Seemed quite plausible Smiley

Species 8472 comes to mind.

2870  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: opinion on possible fraud attempt - user pastory99 on: April 10, 2012, 06:22:45 AM

Pastory99 asked me to take this thread down.

I asked him to open the boxes and show me the sealed individual units inside.. this is what he replied

dude..did you not understand the part about the boxes being sealed, and me not able to open them unless I had a guaranteed buyer? How would I know you had the money in the first place and would have bought them, not going to open them for you just to show pictures and then risk the chance of you just backing down...

He's so full of shit. Tell him to go pound sand.

Only if I can ban people for having "Posted using tapatalk on my phone" after every post.

Posted using my keyboard on my PC.

Last post I saw of his he mentioned that he was working alone on getting everything settled, so I'm sure he's swamped.
2873  Economy / Goods / Re: (1) FREE $500 Amazon Code giveaway. Make a comment in this thread. on: April 08, 2012, 02:57:43 AM
Im confused. How does this prove your not a scammer or that the gifts cards arent bought with stolen credit cards? Multiple posts for multiply entries makes this thread a spam fest too.

It's him, hes the manipulator.

2875  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: April 08, 2012, 01:40:02 AM
More to the point, you should approach everything you read about economics on this board with a good dose of healthy skepticism. It has at least as many, and probably more, kooks as anywhere else on the 'net...
Certainly won't argue that  Wink
2876  Economy / Goods / Re: DISCOUNT AMAZON CODES FOR SALE 20% DISCOUNT, not! on: April 08, 2012, 01:35:25 AM
Glad to see you two worked it out.
2877  Economy / Speculation / Re: The storm is building up! on: April 08, 2012, 01:32:23 AM
I'm expecting the breakout to happen soon. Meaning that we will break $5.4 - $5.5 and then test $7.2 fairly soon after that. Breakout downwards would be very counter-intuitive taking into account that Bitcoin has had the biggest news coverage in over 6 months. And that coverage has been overall fairly positive I believe.

However I've seen the market do some counter-intuitive stuff before, so anything is possible. We'll have to wait and see.
Thanks Technomage, you continue to be the worst speculator ever.

At least he's consistent...consistently wrong. Almost every time he posts it's going up it goes down.
2878  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [BUY] BITCOINS WITH PAYPAL - VERY GOOD SECURITY FOR BOTH SIDES! on: April 07, 2012, 08:36:26 PM
but I'd give you a fair chance. cash in mail. pm me for postal address

I'm up for that too, up to 5k. Of course I'm sure he'll stick with his "irreversible" paypal.

Edit: For a slight fee of course, less than paypal though.  Wink
2879  Economy / Speculation / Re: Node Count vs. Price on: April 07, 2012, 05:28:36 PM
You can't deny from those graphs that the network is on a downward trend as far as people actively using Bitcoin.

Yes I can deny that. More and more people are using website based wallets (blockchain.info for example) or alternative clients (Like Electrum). The only thing those graphs prove, is that there are less original Bitcoin clients running, which isn't a good measure of total activity in Bitcoin-land at all.

Gotta agree with this one, I don't use the bitcoin client itself much at all.
2880  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash!!!! on: April 07, 2012, 12:47:27 PM
What a surprise  Wink.  Too bad the previous correction never got a chance to finish, it may have gone lower but it would likely be rallying by now.
