2881  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 27% of England’s Male Millennials Say Bitcoin Better Investment Than Property on: July 07, 2018, 08:54:59 PM
But still the other 73% chose property investments rather than Bitcoin as an investment, the article just made the poll look positive with how they presented the news. Yet I have to say that 27% is really a big fraction of todays millenials and with its price being more attainable compared to expensive and limited real property I think that the millenoals will lean on cryptocurrency investing to get rich. Yes Bitcoin is also limited but it can still be purchase on its decimal value which I think is more preferable for millenials as they can have Bitcoin at a much cheaper price compared to buying a piece of land.
2882  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Some People Dont Believe BTC is SCAM? on: July 07, 2018, 05:38:53 PM
I have three questions for you and if you satisfy me with some reasonable anseer then I would believe Bitcoin is a scam.
  • If Bitcoin is a Scam then why are some countries (even some Developed countries recognized Bitcoin as some kind of asset?
  • If Bitcoin is a scam then why some governments have found a way to regulate cryptocurrencies through livensed crypto exchanges?
  • If Bitcoin is a scam then why have a lot of people not even connected to each other became rich with it ?

I'll be waiting for your answers and expect that I will have a rebut your reply. I just hope that you have a proper explanation.
2883  Other / Meta / Re: Erosion of merit. How to prevent it. on: July 07, 2018, 12:58:41 PM
If the current system (user earns half the merits as sMerits) is being played out and abuse already what more if a 1 is to 1 merit system be applied bin the forum? A normal user won't need merit sources anymore as literally he/she can generate sMerits by himself just by transferring merits back and forth to his/her alt accounts or friends in the forum. Technically your solution will just promote more spam and shitpost and will make the merit system as a failed solution to the forum.
2884  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain help eliminate the basic problems in the world? on: July 06, 2018, 01:51:28 AM
If we are talking about the government using blockchain as means of cost-cutting and being more efficient I think it would benefit the poor overall and the before expense being used before can now be shifted to other projects of the government which will benefit the poor and the needy. But I don't think it will be enough to solve the poverty situation overall as I don't think that the expense being save will be big. Solving poverty will always depend on how big and how will the government manage their budget on focusing amd solving it.
2885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2018 NBA Season on: July 05, 2018, 03:03:46 PM

For Dallas Mavericks fans: (What do you think? Competitive now? Smiley ) Hope they reached playoffs again even at 8th spot. Cheesy

PG: Dennis Smith Jr.
SG: Luka Doncic
SF: Harrison Barnes
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (if re-signs) (announcement just made last April but no signing as of now)
C: DeAndre Jordan

Bench: Seth Curry, Wesley Matthews, JJ Barea, Nerlens Noel, Dwight Powell, Yogi Ferrell.

Seth Curry will now not be part of the Dallas Mavericks in the upcoming season. He is now signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.

With that, there's another room for Mavericks to fill their slots. They still have enough cap space to acquired at least closed to All-Star caliber player.
I don't think that team will be enough to reach the playoffs as the West already have a big free agency win with Lebron coming to their conference. I see that 12 out of the 15 teams in the West could battle it out for the 8 seeds and Dallas Mavericks is not one of them.
2886  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to upgrade on bitcointalk? on: July 05, 2018, 01:09:46 PM
Maybe we should allow members to block PMs from juniors so that we can avoid being pestered by these spammers
I agree a lot of low rank members are using the private message feature in order to beg for merits. Some of them are even sending messages because you just have quoted or replied to their thread and they think replying to their posts makes them assume it is meritable. Increasing the disallow messages function to Jr. Members will not hurt no one. As I don't I will be messaging or communicating with someone via private message who are ranked Jr. Members and below.
2887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Will Reach 250,000 USD on: July 05, 2018, 12:18:05 PM
That is one unbelievable price point for a supply of 21,000,000 Bitcoin in the market. Unbelievable as it will give a lot of imbalance in the economy imagine that 1 million people are owning at least 4 BTCs each all of those 1 million people will be instant millionaires and some who are holding more than that might be billionaires with new billionaires as well as millionaires it will surely effect the economy and mostly it will start a big inflation rate as the prices of products will adjust to the new rich people we have. Just a thought we might want to consider before believing in such unbelievable numbers. Even Google's stock price cannot even reach that high.
2888  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to upgrade on bitcointalk? on: July 05, 2018, 11:45:08 AM
Unfortunately in won't lift any restrictions or limits with regards to private messaging. So the other way must be to naturally rank up your account even though it will take a while. Keep in mind that newbies messaging to another member they will be reminded with this message:
Quote
!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!
So even if you are a Copper Member users will still be warned about you being a newbie member in the forum.
2889  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-05] Crypto Exchanges Are Already Adapting to India's Bank Account Ban on: July 05, 2018, 10:40:01 AM
So the bottom line is online transfers are out but over-the-counter deposits are in? It seems like a tedious process as their alternative. Not to mention that it is a manual process meaning that they will need to undergo several withdrawal requests and each time they need to process it manually by going directly to bank, as the withdrawal request flood them they will soon need help for additional manpower for such thing. I don't know  how they will maintain to operate such thing but it sure does the trick as most deposits of money via over-the-counter is not mostly profiled by the banks.
2890  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔶 YOLOdice.com 🔶 FAST, play, invest, win on: July 05, 2018, 09:08:34 AM
do you seriously think none of know how you and other sites can manipulate the  server seed and change  house edge %  etc  and monitor our betting?    thats def a  post  worth posting about ;-)

That is possibly an interesting paragraph. Unfortunately it seems to have been written in too much of a hurry and as a result it makes no sense.

Could you please write it again more slowly? I would be very interested to hear more about your inside information about manipulating server seeds to change the house edge.

Yes, I would love to know about a vulnerability that the top mathematical minds in bitcoin gambling missed when designing provably fair systems and reviewing.
It's easy amGigolo backing up your words (also fixing up your grammar) with compelling proof or evidence will make them understand what you are saying. But as long as you are just saying words without backing it up with something convincing you might end up looking us a gambler who just lost his money from one of this gambling sites. So make your statements at least believable for us.
2891  Other / Meta / Re: Please, mods, stop this on: July 04, 2018, 06:19:22 PM
I do think that people who are posting here about their ban with a newly created account is within their rights given by the forum rules and is not breaking any rules based on this rules/guideline created by mprep:

25. If you get banned (temporary or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.
The only way they are breaking the rule is if they continued on posting other threads aside from the thread you created in the Meta Section or if you are sending private message to other members. If they are going outside of their limits then I think it is time to report them to the moderator. But if they are only using the new account for justifying if the ban they receive is wrong then I don't think we have control over that.
2892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Old laptop with Bitcoin Folder on: July 04, 2018, 05:01:15 PM
Hello everyone I found my old laptop and I turned it on and saw that there was a bitcoin folder all dated back from 2011 . And what I did next is to see if there an application on the laptop for bitcoin. I found it great!
but the thing is it prompted me to install a new bitcoin qt wallet software . I thought it would just open up but anyway Installed  it And it says zero balance.  Huh   Went back to check the wallet.dat file and the date has been changed to present day .
Does this mean I have overwritten it?
I did not save the wallet.dat file before installing the bitcoin core wallet again.
What must I do? Will system restore put the old back on file for that dated file?

It might have some  BTC in there . Any help will be greatly appreciated with BTCBTCBTC Thanks.
Can you tell us that you do at least remember if your wallet is holding any Bitcoin when you have left it stored away in your "old laptop"? Because I am not following your story as you seemed to be surprised on finding out that your laptop has a old wallet.dat file in a folder dated 2011. With how the way you explained your story it seems to me that you might just be retrieving something in your wallet that you don't know if it exist or not, you don't even know if you have transactions with your old wallet.
2893  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The root of newbies problem on: July 03, 2018, 06:55:43 PM
I don't think it is their fault in the first place. From all I know Newbies here who are trying to earn in the forum have been wrongly introduced to Bitcointalk. You will see a lot of social media posts, online articles and Youtube videos on how they earned money from the forum also they even have their friends to teach them how to participate in the campaign hence they think that this forum's sole purpose is to make them earn cryptocurrency. And without any proper introduction they will literally get lost in the forum and will soon do threads of their own which is also on the wrong section just to find the answer they are looking for (and those thread are commonly related to on how they will earn in the forum).
2894  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HURTLECOIN (HRTL) SCAM connected with Maxnetlabs.com? on: July 03, 2018, 05:04:27 PM
Interesting enough maxnetlabs.com has an account here in the forum and they recently managed a bounty campaign here with the token name GixelyCoin here is their Ann Thread the website of the token seems to be not working anymore as I cannot visit it and their link to the whitepaper also does not exist anymore so I could not find out more about the token. The only thing I see in the internet is all their developers have a last name of Mathews, even trying to research all their names nothing is coming out in Google.
2895  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-02] Crypto-Troll John McAfee Claims HitBTC ‘Killed People’ on: July 03, 2018, 02:41:07 PM
I am surprised on how John McAfee is slowly killing his reputation with this article calling him a "crypto-troll" I know this would be the start of his fall. He was once a highly influential person in the cryptocurrency community so influential that he used it to his advantage and started doing paid Twitter promotions for 105,000$ per Tweet as he and the ICO's developers knows that the ICO will start pumping with his Twitter promotion. With a lot of newbies being aware in the market as well as they are getting experience from it people like John McAfee will be a thing of the past as their words won't be bearing no kind of value whatsoever as no one will be believing his words anymore.
2896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 03, 2018, 01:46:29 PM
I really thought I won't be salvaging any points with my prediction of 3-1 for Belgium against Japan with the lead going to Belgium. Seeing how the Japanese scored in the first half with two goals made me switch my television off. But then I started seeing updates online in Facebook that Belgium had won the game with 3 goals, not the result that I have wanted as Japan has scored 1 goal more than my prediction but I did earn some points with it. I know I won't be in the Top 5 of the table now as I am way back up on the leaderboard xD
2897  Economy / Reputation / Re: Be aware of Forum scammer as a Moderator on: July 03, 2018, 11:11:11 AM
Nice catch actmyname, I think her main goal was to fool a DT member into tagging an innocent person for the reason of maybe joniboini has busted some of his friends or should I say fellow shill bumpers and tried to do the same with joniboini's account. The way I understand it is you just screenshot the real account of joniboini but the one in the 2nd image was just a copy of joniboini's picture of putin as well as his "anonymous" name to make it look like he is the one having conversations with you. Also in your OP you are saying that he is threatening you somehow but what I am reading now is just a scam offer which is different from a threat.
2898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: do i need special software to use LIGHTNING ? ! on: July 02, 2018, 08:18:37 PM
Found a more noob friendly guide here in Steemit about the Eclair App for their mobile version (Android). It will be more easier to understand compared to the medium.com article provided by OmegaStarScream since it the article gives you a step by step guide on setting up your wallet is also comes with pictures on each step. I do think if you follow this as well as trying out some test transactions you are good to go with your new Lightning Network Wallet.
2899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will bitcoin will look like once fully regulated? on: July 02, 2018, 06:20:50 PM
We won't have a definite answer to that question as regulation varies from country to country. What I mean is although they have similarities in the legal framework their policies and certain rules will be different from each country. But one thing is for sure what we can expect if Bitcoin is now fully regulated is that BTC will not be an anonymous cryptocurrency anymore since our wallet addresses will be linked to us and will now be monitored by the government regularly.
2900  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: UAE Government launches Blockchain Strategy 2021 on: July 02, 2018, 04:28:43 PM
UAE's government has been known for their quick decisions on matters like this one. They are obviously doing this strategy in order to cut cost as well as be more efficient with their government activities. I have actually learned that they are one of the countries where you can easily establish a business as they have a one day processing on permitting your business they also have some tax exemption on the early parts of your business and will also depend if you are operating in profit gain or not. Bottomline is they are leading into the use of Blockchain technology and I do hope that other countries will take notice on their move.
