2881  Economy / Reputation / Re: Display Name changed from "COOLCRYPTOVATOR" to "The Cryptovator" | Tnx Theymos on: May 17, 2022, 05:32:09 PM
Hello community, I am COOLCRYPTOVATOR.

My current display name is The Cryptovator
Many users who aren't (regular) visitors to this board won't know both usernames are the same person. It's going to take a while before that sinks in.

But a few impersonators just forced me to change the display name.
Don't you think running away from what you liked wasn't a better approach? Trust me, the same impersonators will also track you to the new name. Will you then also run when that happens again?

The reason why I believe others will trade is the fact that prices change and people have reasons to buy or sell it for that price.
Price doesn't just change on its own. It's the action of buyers and sellers that move price. Sellers alone without buyers can't even move price. In fact, there won't be a thing as sellers if there aren't anyone to complement the sellers at the other side of the line as buyers. While you hodl your Bitcoin and others decided to do the same thing (though impossible because of the heterogeneity of mankind), there won't be price movement. Yes, I know you're of the opinion that it's not likely that no one would be unwilling to sell at any point in time. We can't be too certain it won't happen once in a while. After all, there are people who don't sell even at ATH or those who haven't sold anything for the past 7 years.
2883  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gathering and forum should be an opportunity for all to grow on: May 17, 2022, 04:23:14 PM
But I read your posts and I see that you are trying, so I will give you the first merit as a motivation for further development.
I like the reason for which you merited OP. I wanted to second you but unfortunately I lacked merit to do that. We all need encouragement to bring out the best in one another. The globe is becoming a tougher place unlike what it was a few decades ago. People are really going through a lot this day. Depression and frustration may be biting and hitting hard on people who won't voice it for fear of getting mocked.
2884  Other / Meta / Re: Help end this phase for Nigerians @Theymos on: May 17, 2022, 01:13:24 PM
The fact that one of the world's leading news organizations, BBC[1], gave us an Official Naija pidgin website to read through popular posts and what's going on in Nigeria demonstrates the importance of the pidgin language.

My broda, na dat wan even dey pain me pass sef and with those of owa brodas wey dey like speak phoney join.

Anyone, that as it may be; we aren't resting on our oars. We shall continue to paddle until we get to the seashore. Good things aren't easily achieved. That's my consolation whenever what I'm trying to achieve continues to elude me in my mind's eye. The Nigerian community here has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. Outside here, the Nigerian crypto community remained unfazed even when there was a ban on crypto activities in Nigeria till a time now that the government is reconsidering its actions to unban and then regulate it. We're letting our government know that crypto is the way to go.
2885  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Happy to be here. on: May 17, 2022, 12:42:24 PM
and as far as I can see, this website is unlike any I have come across having bitcoin or crypto in their names.
But of course, it should be unlike others. The maverick himself, Satoshi Nakamoto, once graced this forum as a registered member. In fact, he occasioned it. Besides, there are several tech dudes and developers who are still here. Issues and ideas are cross fertilized in this forum and confused users are helped out.

I hope my time here will yield life changing results
Well, that will depend on you to a greater extent. If you continue with this same level of zeal and seriousness you're showing now, you will definitely enjoy this forum. It will become a life changing decision that you've come to associate with us here, both knowledge wise and earnings too. This is about the only Bitcoin forum I know where one learns and is paid while at it for interacting with others.
2886  Other / Archival / Re: Gambling Campaigns on: May 17, 2022, 11:54:27 AM
Many people see anything trading as analogous to gambling and I believe that's what informs the high rate of advertisement of casinos and other gambling related stuff on this forum. It cuts across trading sites, forex trading sites too. I'm sure that's the mindset.

~snipped~
You think because gambling has been licenced it's not a vice anymore? Don't judge it that way. You can say it's no longer a crime as government has come into it to regulate and licence it. Vice and crime are two different things, though a thin line separates them.
2887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who do you recommend to follow/read/watch for beginners? on: May 17, 2022, 09:42:34 AM
~snipped~
Some update they give are can be real while some can be unreal too.
I doubt any crypto influencer will intentionally make a false call. What will that be for? I doubt. What I think can happen is that genuinely made calls turn out to be inaccurate. Influencers like to brag when what they say comes to past. That even earns them more subscribers or followers and then earned trust. I don't see how they will want to lose that for the mere sake of giving false prediction knowingly.

You pointed out to OP only from Bitcoin related reads. I believe OP will like a broad reading that also encompasses altcoins.
2888  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i secure my account? on: May 16, 2022, 08:47:52 PM
Do not use your forum email account to register on other websites and platforms, you should obviously have multiple emails, do so if you do not, and then 'dedicate' one solely for your forum account here.
Well, I don't see how that's going to be a problem. I think the salient thing should be for the user to put up a very strong password for the email address and every site one registers on and make sure not to log into a phishing site. Bookmark the sites you visit from original sources as that will ensure you're interacting with the original source.

It would also be much better if you avoid using a public wifi to access your account
This is very sound an advice. No one should think they want to save data or money by using public WiFi. It's not advisable and it could expose one's secret and private information. If you must use WiFi, let it be with casual stuff and sites you're searching.
2889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a safe haven??? on: May 16, 2022, 06:33:04 PM
I'm not saying it's safe because anything can happen, let's take the example of Luna, I'm sure BTC one day will be like Luna if there are no fans,
but I don't deny that bitcoin has given me more than enough financial
Luna's problem wasn't because it lacked fans. Nope, not that. Luna only started losing fan base when it began to dump massively. It will be the death of cryptos if Bitcoin were to be thrown into the same confused state that Luna is now. Do you know how hard Luna dropped to even compare it with what could happen to the pathfinder Bitcoin? If Bitcoin dumped that much the entire market will evaporate. It's that bad and I don't wish we got to that extent.
2890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is everyone that got in late last year in the red now ? How bad is it ? on: May 16, 2022, 05:37:26 PM
I'm still in the green...more than double my initial investment. But then I got in nearly 2 years ago.
I'm sure that will be in 2020 if you got in two years ago. You may be in green now according to you but you're also not at maximum ROI if you factor in that you hedl it while it got to ATH in 2021 and then dumped. You're in green now but in the real sense you're also in red.

For those who're in red now, don't panic. And don't sell, except you need the cash badly. Keep hodling, it will recover. That's my advice. Bitcoin has always recovered.
2891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you knew the founder of Bitcoin, would you still use it? on: May 16, 2022, 01:37:29 PM
I don't know why people continue to think that Satoshi will be in danger if he makes himself known. Is it because there's an alleged wallet housing 1million Bitcoin belonging to him? I mean, is there anything else? That's the only reason I would be thinking he could be in danger, and that's from greedy and envious people who may want to steal from him. Nothing else. Come to even think of it, Bitcoin isn't the only crypto which has a huge price and whose founder isn't known.

For me, it's immaterial to base investing or not investing in a crypto on whether the owner is known or not. How many cryptos do we even know their owners? Yet we trade and invest in them.
2892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Emirates Airline will use 'Bitcoin as a Payment Service' on: May 16, 2022, 01:18:35 PM
Whatever that makes Bitcoin headline, is positive news to me. It's positive to me because it creates more milage and exposure for Bitcoin when the news comes off as a ban/restriction or adoption and use. More people get to hear and read about Bitcoin whenever it's mentioned. That's for sure. For a positive news such as its use is by Emirates Airline now, that's a double positive. It's a win–win for both sides, Emirates and Bitcoin. More of such news will continue to keep Bitcoin in demand and out of murky waters.
2893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie Question: Fees for Long-Term BitCoin Investment on: May 16, 2022, 09:13:10 AM
For the low fees crypto exchange from fiat to crypto might be these.
  • Coinbase
  • Binance
  • Crypto.com
I don't know your parameters for judging them so, anyway. For me, I can't remember the last time I did a BTC withdrawal from Binance because the commission is crazy when pegged in dollar. It's cheap for me to swap my BTC on Binance to a stable coin like BUSD or USDT and then withdraw with as low as $1 fee. I can't be paying 0.0005 ($15 at current rate) for something that will be $0.5 if I withdrew in BUSD. I still can't figure out why Binance has refused to adjust its withdrawal commission on BTC.
2894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Holding or Using ? on: May 16, 2022, 07:57:04 AM
I've consistently maintained that what gives Bitcoin its value is the activities of those who trade it and not those who hodl. If people refuse to trade it, how will its value be known? Wasn't it for that cause that the 10,000 Bitcoin for two pizza originated? I won't be shocked to find out that most of those who scream hodl are secretly trading it. For me, I think trading has advanced Bitcoin more than hodling. I don't see anything wrong with those who trade it. Likewise, those who hodl shouldn't see those who trade it like they aren't important to the whole Bitcoin process. BTW, there aren't any crypto that people aren't hodling. It's not only Bitcoin that is treasured to be heDl.
2895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about Become Newbies to High Rank Member on: May 16, 2022, 07:09:56 AM
Besides all the suggestions that you've been given, add the issue of plagiarism to them. Don't be blinded to that in your haste to rank up. It can come back to hurt you. If you use someone's article or writeup no matter how distant and remote you may think you copied it from, make sure to put a source link to it. The internet has a way of catching up on stuff like that with time. There are also users here who can detect such. Avoid plagiarism. In addition, read up sticky posts of every board to acquit yourself further with rules and regulations of this forum.
2896  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let's always remember how important our lives are. on: May 16, 2022, 06:38:34 AM
Of course, the recent decline will not have much of a psychological effect on the old holders. One of the best ways to deal with it is to ignore the market. The bear market is a good time to take a break.
After my experience with Bitcoin ATH of 2017 and it's near demise of 2018/19, I realized why veterans don't really panic whenever there's a Bitcoin dump. It's the experience thing. I've acquired that same mindset too and I'm less concerned with what's happening in the market ATM. I know the crash is momentarily. The market will shake this off and spike to record a fresh ATH. If the bear becomes unbearable, I trade my Bitcoin for a stablecoin and then rebuy at a further fall. That's the simple method there's during a bear season if you can trade. Otherwise, just hodl. Bitcoin will rebound. It won't end in zero.

Those who commit suicide because of trading misfortune aren't man enough. BTW, didn't they read the caveat that's always been there that one shouldn't invest cash they aren't capable of losing?
2897  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who do you recommend to follow/read/watch for beginners? on: May 15, 2022, 11:55:10 AM
So, as the question says who do you think a beginner could follow on twitter/read the blog /watch on youtube in order to learn/understand the cryptomarket? Basically looking for some source of info that makes sense to consume, as there are tons of garbage on the Internet.
There are several crypto influencers that you can easily watch on YouTube. I don't want to put out any name here because I don't know how your passion is and to what extend you would want to take their word and call of action. To be frank, crypto is a highly speculative business and as such no one should take anyone seriously serious when predictions are made. Nonetheless, you should watch and take points from them but don't follow whatever they say hook, line and sinker.
2898  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you using trading indicators? on: May 15, 2022, 09:39:16 AM
To be honest, I learned very well from my own experience that indicators are far from always reliable and guarantee results. I advise you to be prepared for this.
Well, don't assume it. Test it. While I can say you're right that indis are far better being used than not being used at all, I will also say that not all indis are of great use when used alone. Make sure you have a combo of two or three indis for maximum result. No single indi can guarantee anyone a consistent profit. One can get profit from such adventure by chance but it won't last. The end result is often loss and hurt for those traders who do that.
2899  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: cryptocurrency trading courses on: May 15, 2022, 08:23:17 AM
i'm looking for a good trading course.
I like your careful pick of what you want. You said "trading course" but I don't know why some of those advising you are pointing at "trading tools". Trading course is a nice place to start. It shows how willing you're to learn the rudiments first rather than jump on profit making and then become conscious in that regard. Those who jump at trading tools without going through the basics do so because they're in a haste to start earning. Nobody should expect to earn until they learn. That should be a simple logic every trader should pursue. Well, enough said. I will point you to a site that helped shape my trading ability. It's Babypips. The site has both trading courses and learning tools.
2900  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: avoid scam telegram groups , find useful tools and channels on: May 15, 2022, 07:55:15 AM
Talking to avoid scam telegram groups, but you offered anyone to join your groups since you claimed it's legit group.

Yes, we should avoid all groups including you.
Lol... In my attempt to understand what OP was on about as I saw a telegram handle in his post too, then I realized that it's a typical case of pot calling kettle black in order to assume a better standing. Even the use of "cartel" in the telegram bot of OP makes me uneasy. Nonetheless, why I think OP is out to do the same thing they're condemning (it's my hunch, anyway), I still believe there are credible telegram groups out there. Not all telegram groups are scams, only that those which are genuine are few.
