2901  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Butler ordered by WBO on: February 26, 2022, 05:31:34 AM
I speculate that this very bad incident for Casimero will certainly lower his chance to get a contract to fight Naoye Inoue unless he wins all the other championships in their weight division. It will be very hard to promote and market Inoue vs. Casimero to the public after this alleged sexual misconduct. How many championships does Inoue do not presently hold?
2902  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-02-26] Putin’s attack triples Ukrainian crypto exchange’s trading volume on: February 26, 2022, 04:53:29 AM
A time of crisis is sometimes the best time to have an introduction with bitcoin, I reckon and it appears that the volume in this Ukrainian exchange might only increase the longer this war continues. It is also the best time to convert the Ukrainian currency to bitcoin because no one can be certain how long can it remain to be accepted. Who knows what Russia might do to the Ukrainian hryvnia.

Trading volume in Ukrainian crypto exchange Kuna has more than tripled by Friday since Russia invaded the Eastern European nation, according to CoinGecko data.

The 24-hour trading volume at Kuna was at around US$1.5 million on Thursday morning Asia time, but now sits just under US$5 million, as of press time.

Bitcoin is currently trading at a 7% premium at the Ukrainian exchange, indicating local demand outpacing available supply since the attacks.

2903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why NFT might become important in the cryptospace and the world on: February 26, 2022, 03:25:45 AM
Also, those digital art pieces might also develop into something important in the cryptospace similar to how a Van Gogh or a Picasso are important in the physical world. This is art, this is culture and because we are humans, much of us have an inborn ability to create art and treasure art of different forms.

I speculate similar to ICOs and Defi, NFTs will be here for many years.
The NFT itself may be called as a big shot, but the art within? I don't think so. Separating the wheat from the chaff is hard in a world where every creator is sprouting their creativity, not until a long years after the art have been established, that it will gain mainstream attention in the yet of future worlds.

From what I see, there is a great distinction between ICO and Defi with NFT. The former of ICO was obliterated and deemed as failure, Defi may be embraced by many people but it will come as the technology itself matures. But NFT, I think NFT are able to gain wider mainstream attention even though it is still in the early stage compared to the former. The things that many regular Joe users are able to and make use of NFT, it may be a sign that there is something worth attention to within of it.

I very much disagree with your reply on ICOs. Everyone is aware that much of the ICOs from before 2017 have died, however, the ICO as a democratic method of fundraising a project will not die. It will be called something else and be made to appear like something else but it will be an ICO.

Ethereum begun as an ICO, also Binance and other big projects in the top 20 of coinmarketcap.com begun as ICOs.

NFTs will certainly go through a similar situation. Much of them will die and similar to julerz12‘s reply, there will only be a few that will hold their value. Cryptopunks and Bored apes yatch club might be the Ethereum and Binance chain of NFTs hehe.
2904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2022 betting thread on: February 25, 2022, 03:58:08 AM
As far as I can remember this is the gambling subforum. Also, if the sportsbooks did not list the odds for the Oscar awards, no person would be in awe and make them laugh.
Well, this is my first time seeing such betting, so it is. I knew such bets occurs even the simplest competition, or going to happen is capable of being gambled or having bets.

Anyway, by such kind of gambling, this is not like a common in gambling where the victor totally depends on score in the fight or a fair play, judges has lots of influence for the outcome, so this may sound like a fixed match, it could happen or happened before, but who knows.

Fixed match similar to what occurs to any sport like boxing or basketball games where referees, coaches or referees can be paid to influence the winners and losers of a game?

In any case, an argument can be made that match fixing in boxing or games similar to football and basketball are much easier than fixing the Oscars because the winners are determined by votes of the Academy of motion picture arts and sciences members. This will be similar to match fix an election because someone made a bet hehehe. You thought the winners are determined only by judges?

do nominees influence the result of the votes? looking at the odds, it looks predetermined already who is going to win.

Best Picture    The Power of the Dog
Best Actor    Will Smith
Best Actress    Nicole Kidman
Best Supporting Actor   Kodi Smit McPhee
Best Supporting Actress   Ariana DeBose
Best Director    Jane Campion

i don't even know these names except smith and kidman who i believe had won thier awards before.

This might be because there are rumors that are being leaked by Oscar voters and insiders on which movies’ nominations are getting much of the votes. The voting process has already begun on January 27 and ended on February 1 for the 9000 members of the academy. However, similar to the other Oscar awards, sometimes we should not assume that their victory is a certainty. The minor categories will show you this.
2905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The DAO hacker is Tenx CEO Toby Hoenisch? on: February 25, 2022, 02:53:20 AM
There might be many of you who do not know about the story of the DAO hack and how this caused much stress and anger in the Ethereum community. This also caused Vitalik and his development team to fork Ethereum to save the investors’ money in the DAO. It is a long story and everything is summarized in the article. Everyone who does not know this story should read it.

In any case, I am very skeptical of what is being told about de-mixing in this article. Can Chainalysis really de-mix Wasabi transactions and trace where every coin went? We cannot be certain of this. This should not be taken as real until the de-mixing method is explained and proven. Chainalysis can use this claim against the community.

Jumping off from the Coinfirm analysis, blockchain analytics company Chainalysis saw the presumed attacker had sent 50 BTC to a Wasabi Wallet, a private desktop Bitcoin wallet that aims to anonymize transactions by mixing several together in a so-called CoinJoin. Using a capability that is being disclosed here for the first time, Chainalysis de-mixed the Wasabi transactions and tracked their output to four exchanges. In a final, crucial step, an employee at one of the exchanges confirmed to one of my sources that the funds were swapped for privacy coin Grin and withdrawn to a Grin node called grin.toby.ai. (Due to exchange privacy policies, normally this sort of customer information would not be disclosed.)

The IP address for that node also hosted Bitcoin Lightning nodes: ln.toby.ai, lnd.ln.toby.ai, etc., and was consistent for over a year; it was not a VPN.

It was hosted on Amazon Singapore. Lightning explorer 1ML showed a node at that IP called TenX.

For anyone who was into crypto in June 2017, this name may ring a bell. That month, as the ICO craze was reaching its initial peak, there was an $80 million ICO named TenX. The CEO and cofounder used the handle @tobyai on AngelList, Betalist, GitHub, Keybase, LinkedIn, Medium, Pinterest, Reddit, StackOverflow, and Twitter. His name was Toby Hoenisch.

2906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World War III & Bitcoin on: February 25, 2022, 02:12:56 AM
Will the US and Russia start World War III?
This sounds more like a joke than a question Grin
Last war United States won, or was part of the winning side, has been World War II that ended in 1945 (77 years ago). Ever since then US has not faced any actual military force and any other smaller conflict with armed groups US faced they lost miserably. The latest being the war against Taliban that ended with a great escape and a donation of $100 billion worth of weapons and military equipment to Taliban to buy safe passage out of Afghanistan.
Going to war with an actual adversary will not only destroy US military but also US and EU economy. That's why it is never going to happen.

I keep repeating this in all similar topics but this is not the first time Russia has taken part of Ukraine. Google Crimea and 2014 and see how people were asking the same question back then and how nobody could do anything about it. It won't be any different this time either.

What happens to bitcoin is unpredictable. Bitcoin is a great way to store value and is a replacement for traditional impossible to carry ways such as gold. It is not unreasonable to think people would largely start selling everything they have and start buying bitcoin to escape the crashing economy.

I very much agree. America, Europe and all countries under NATO will never dare touch this issue in Ukraine. This might force them into a very costly war and we can be quite certain they do not want this. However, there might be a wildcard hehehe, China. Might the western allies’ avoidance of war vs. Russia encourage China to invade Taiwan? I speculate the western allies might not have a choice. If they send their military in Ukraine, China might join the war and invade Taiwan. If they do nothing, this might encourage China and invaide Taiwan.
2907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why NFT might become important in the cryptospace and the world on: February 25, 2022, 01:40:20 AM
@Dave1. Correct, however, similar to the art community, the NFT that attracts much of the liquidity will be more valuable not only as a collector’s item or an investment, it might also become more useful for moneylaudering hehe. This is reality because liquidity will only attract and create more liquidity. Much of the art industry is also unregulated.
2908  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Regulator in Canada Warns Crypto Exchanges Not to Promote Self-Custodial Wallets on: February 25, 2022, 12:57:29 AM
I don't understand the political situation in Canada but why is the government so tough on the issue of truck drivers? I also don't think those tweets are clear evidence of lawbreaking by CEOs.

it is good that such words come from CEOs because it seems that the regulators are putting pressure on them so they are asking users to withdraw money indirectly to avoid any damage to the reputation of the platforms.

Generally, the accounts of those people may be frozen, but they will inevitably use decentralized exchanges to transfer their money to cash or exchange between cryptocurrencies. This development will prompt more developers to find solutions to current problems.

They couldn't just give what the truckers want because they don't negotiate with Terrorists.
The developers may even find a way for thier wallets to have an internal mixer itself that's a lot harder for them but because they are into deep in going thru the accounts of these truckers and supporters, the government may really bust doors once they identify Bitcoin supporters linked to the protest. And this exposes what really Trudeau's government is.

However, are they terrorists or is Trudeau acting similar to other dictators in history like Fidel Castro? This is the new joke in social media. They say Trudeau has Cuban blood hehehe.

In any case, are there cryptocoin users from South Korea? Are the rumors true that Upbit stopped withdrawals to noncustodial wallets and withdrawals to other exchanges outside of South Korea? It appears their government has begun imposing the travel rule. I speculate that this might only be the beginning. Other countries might begin imposing their own travel rule soon.

I am not certain on what might happen with this war, however, on the bad news is good news storyline that was working for traders before might not work anymore with credit tightening everywhere to fight inflation and this war that has only begun today in Ukraine. Bad news will certainly be bad news and this bull market might be over.
2911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why NFT might become important in the cryptospace and the world on: February 24, 2022, 03:36:38 AM
There was a thread arguing why we should not invest in NFTs. I agree that similar to the ICOs of 2017, there will be scams and this is a good reason to avoid them. However, similar to ICOs as a democratic method to fund a project, NFT is becoming a cultural submovement that also earns income for the artists and the collectors of the artists’ work.

NFT market is purely created to help the scammers and money laundering activities. It's a great method to turn your black money into white. There is no art in the entire NFT world.

If you visit opensea platform and browse the collections, you will see ape pictures are being sold for millions and real pieces of art is staying unsold. There are multiple examples you can see during your visit.

NFT market doesn't value art, it values the hype! Once this hype is gone, NFT market will go down to drain as well.

I agree that the market for NFTs is being used for moneylaundering, hiding illegal wealth and many of these are pump and dump scams. However, telling everyone that the NFTspace was only created for scammers, by scammers to scam everyone is very much incorrect.

Also, agreed. There will always be hype, however, there will always be culture. We should witness the development of this new platform for artists without bias.
2912  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Regulator in Canada Warns Crypto Exchanges Not to Promote Self-Custodial Wallets on: February 24, 2022, 02:41:50 AM
Tweets from the CEOs of Coinbase and Kraken that advocated self-custody of digital assets are being looked at the by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for violating sanctions put in place to curb the trucker protests in the country, according to a report from The Logic.

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) sent the tweets to the police because it believed that the crypto executives were offering advice on how to evade the sanctions on funds, according to the report.

That's just cheap talk to scare off some unknowing people. Bitcoiners are preaching the "not your keys, not your coins" for too long, with no relation with the truckers.
So whatever they would like to do, they cannot build a solid case against these. And I expect those CEOs have their lawyers too.

On the other hand, this can also lead to lawsuits against Canadian institutions or politicians for intimidation/harassment. (There may be better words for this.) So it may be popcorn time.

Agreed, however the government and financial regulators of Canada might attack this through business licenses and registrations. I am quite certain they will make the applications and registrations very hard for Kraken and Coinbase. We can argue that this is an abuse of their position, their power and it will be the correct argument, however, this is also reality. This type of abuse is everywhere.
2913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 23, 2022, 05:56:38 AM
I know this is not MMA news but seems EAGLE FC is eying a GSB vs Khabib grappling match. That seems interesting. As for Green vs Makachev, this isn't the best decision Makachev and his team could have made. Yeah, on paper Makachev get's a fairly easy win, but, what if he doesn't? It's still MMA and anything can happen so what if he doesn't? Then he falls so deep back into the division it will make the Kola Superdeep Borehole look like a mole hole.

Who is GSB? Did you mean to type GSP? Yes this will certainly help Eagle FC in marketing and promotion of the organization and also help them increase their fans. However, if Khabib wants to grow his business much more quickly he should offer Conor to be a shareholder in his company as payment to be a fighter for Eagle FC hehehe. This is will be a master level business move by Khabib if Conor agrees.
2914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 'Frozen' Bitcoin Tied to Canadian Protests Lands at Coinbase, Crypto.Com on: February 23, 2022, 04:39:53 AM
It appears that that these protestors should be given step by step instructions on what software they should be using and be guided on what other cryptocoins are available to perform safer and more anonymous transactions. They are only being a danger to themselves and they will only waste those donations.

In any case, if a protestor came in bitcointalk to ask everyone how to be more anonymous and how to avoid KYC, would you teach him?

The situation shows the limitations of a government’s ability to thwart transactions on decentralized systems – but also the limitations of those systems to circumvent such sanctions.

On Feb. 16, Canadian police ordered that all regulated financial firms stop facilitating transactions for 34 wallets associated with the protestors (30 were bitcoin wallets and the rest held other cryptocurrencies). The police sent a letter to a number of banks and crypto exchanges, Canada’s The Globe and Mail reported, but didn’t specify which ones received the warning.

That night, at least some of the funds were distributed among unidentified parties and later sent to centralized exchanges Coinbase and Crypto.com, blockchain data shows. An address connected to the Tallycoin fundraising address, which the truckers had used to accumulate funds, sent 14.28 BTC to 101 addresses in even fractions of 0.14 BTC each.

On Feb. 17, in a separate legal fight brought by locals affected by the protest, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered that nine crypto platforms freeze accounts associated with 120 cryptocurrency addresses belonging to the movement. This means that if those platforms received funds from the listed addresses they should prevent any further movement of them. The list of addresses was provided via a Mareva injunction – a form of court-provided asset freezing.

The sending address for the Feb. 16 transaction was mentioned in the Mareva injunction, but not in the earlier list from the Canadian police.

On Feb. 17 and 18, four of the addresses on the Mareva injunction list sent 0.14 each BTC to Coinbase (1, 2) and Crypto.com (1, 2), either directly or via several intermediary addresses, according to data from the Crystal Blockchain analytics system. (Crystal confirmed CoinDesk’s findings.). It’s unclear whether users managed to sell the funds for fiat at these platforms.

Coinbase’s director of global policy communications, Ian Plunkett, said the firm has “nothing to share on specific transactions and accounts for obvious reasons,” and referred CoinDesk to a blog post by the exchange’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, on its rules for removing user accounts.

2915  Economy / Exchanges / Regulator in Canada Warns Crypto Exchanges Not to Promote Self-Custodial Wallets on: February 23, 2022, 03:42:32 AM
This head shaking comedy show called the politicians behind the government of Canada appear to be in the mood to abuse their power. Jesse Powell and Brian Armstrong were free to tell everyone the function and purpose of a bitcoin wallet.

However, it might also appear that everything will not be good for Kraken and Coinbase if Canada create’s a new regulatory framework after what was experienced during the protest.

Late last week, the Ontario Provincial Police and Royal Canadian Mounted Police ordered all regulated financial institutions, including crypto exchanges, to cease trading and freeze the assets of “designated persons” involved in the trucker protests as well as 34 associated crypto wallets.

2917  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: February 22, 2022, 03:39:41 AM
Yeah! In the 1990s, anti-piracy laws hit video stores hard, so many video stores were selling large quantities of pirated VHS tapes for very cheap. As a kid, the first pirated movie I got on VHS was Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I hadn't seen it in the cinema before, so I wanted to see what everyone was raving about. Cheesy
Terminator 2 was epic movie for that time, it's still one of my all time favorites with Matrix, and I can still watch it for xxx times, excluding all the sequels.
For anyone that is interested to know what little notebook computer John Connor used to ''hack'' atm machine in that movie, it was Atari Portfolio with DIP DOS operating system.
I recently found this device locally in good condition, 128 KB of RAM and 256 KB of ROM, and still working for around 100 euros.
There is even a PIN ID Program you can add to this device that looks the same like in T2 movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBr_ceLAseg

Hehehe the ATM machines in your area should presently be more secured from you. You can also buy the small dirt bike and get a matching best friend and hairstyle to complete the fantasy hehe.

Unpopular opinion: When I was younger, I preferred T2 over T1 as it is more of a "blockbuster" type of movie with better effects, bigger budget etc but as I was growing up, I kinda started preferring T1 as it is much darker and imho superior movie. After all, in T2 is machine v machine, while in T1 its man vs machine which is even more tense.

Do you also feel the same way with Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s sequel Aliens? I reckon the feelings might be similar if you were younger hehehe. Also, agree! James Cameron movies had more action and they were also advancing the technology and methods in special effects. Titanic is proof of this hehehehehe.
2918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Morgan Stanley Issues Ethereum Warning, Says ETH May Lose Market Share to Faster on: February 22, 2022, 02:42:59 AM
It appears Morgan Stanley might has some speculative curiousity on the peddled Ethereum killers hehehe. I also had similar speculations before, however, they were all wrong. Ethereum might remain to be the king of dapps and smart contracts for longer than expected. All the best developers and the best projects are created in Ethereum. Also, all the biggest whales in the cryptospace hold ETH and have high certainty on their investment. It is also the whales who make the markets.

An analyst from banking titan Morgan Stanley says that main altcoin Ethereum (ETH) might see its market share dwindle as buyers flip to cheaper and quicker opponents.

In a brand new report, funding strategist Denny Galindo particulars the bear case for the highest good contract platform, saying that it might face future rules, stiff competitors from the likes of its challengers, as well as to scalability points.

Prominent Ethereum alternate options embody Avalanche (AVAX), Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Terra (LUNA), Polkadot (DOT), and Algorand (ALGO).

Galindo provides that the second largest crypto asset by market cap could have scalability points due to on-chain congestion and its excessive transaction charges. He says that ETH might ultimately outpace its personal assets if it doesn’t improve.

All this NFT is just hype, it will pass and it will only be useful for the game industry and collectables of those early projects that started everything.
I don't see the any other future than that.
Wasting time and money for imaginary gains is 99% way to bankruptcy.

I disagree. I reckon give we should give this more time before declaring something as only hype. NFT might be the beginning of something new culturally and it might also become the doorway that will encourage many people to enter and learn more about the cryptospace. However, I agree that the prices are based on hype and much of them will be dumped during the bubble pop.
2920  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-29] Biden Admin To Regulate Bitcoin As A Matter Of National Security on: February 22, 2022, 01:06:34 AM
News update.

The skeptical me thinks that this executive order might really be the Biden administration’s way to quicken the implementation and release of the American government’s CBDC. What they will certainly also do is create an envronment where it would be very hard to use bitcoin and other cryptocoins legally and begin promoting CBDC. It might be by 2024, America might make the first CBDC issuance.

U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to issue an executive order on cryptocurrency this week, an administration official familiar with the matter reportedly told Yahoo Finance. The news of the Biden administration preparing an executive order on crypto was first reported in January.

The executive order will direct a wide range of government agencies to study cryptocurrency and central bank digital currency (CBDC), and come up with a government-wide strategy to regulate crypto assets, the publication conveyed.
