2921  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet summary at glace. on: June 15, 2020, 04:07:28 AM
That means any device that can store private key offline can be called airgapped device. I really understand your points but I have just a question to ask. What about two wallets like electrum on phones or laptop in which one is used as cold wallet and the other as watch-only wallet. That means the one used as a cold wallet which store private key offline can be called airgapped device as well?
Absolutely.

Cold storage simply refers to a process of storing your bitcoin and private keys offline which means it is entirely separated from being connected to any internet access to reduce online threats. While airgapped refers to a set of network security measures to make sure that the particular device has no ability to connect on the internet as well.

Moreover, watching-only wallet is usually stored in an online device to see the transaction that occured and the bitcoin addresses you are using. When someone uses Electrum that is installed in an airgapped device such as old laptop, the watching-only wallet is only used to create an unsigned transaction that is transported using USB stick to the offline(airgapped) storage to be able to sign the unsigned tx and transfer again the signed transaction from airgapped to watching-only wallet to broadcast the signed transaction to the bitcoin network. Thus, it will not defeat the purpose of having an air-gapped device.

~snip~

Both Philippines and my country is located on SE Asia and i never got such expensive shipping. But since you mentioned EU, which Amazon do you use? Is it Amazon.com?
Yes! The main amazon website. I just clicked the Amazon link from Andreas Antonopolous website in which I am automatically redirected to amazon.com

To tell the truth, I do not know about this wallet, I will add airgapped devices as part of the cold wallets. Thanks.
Airgapped simply means that the device is never and will never be connected to the internet to protect private keys from leaks or attack that can happen on the internet.

They can be old laptops or reserved old smartphones without any internet connection and bluetooth capabilities. You might as well read this guide written by sowik.

Try to contact them if they have plans to add more like The Internet of Money - NBS contact
Thank you! I just finished making a request on their behalf. Too bad, they only sell one crypto related books  Sad

Alternatively, you can ask someone in our local board if they are also interested in buying the same book and just share on the freight.
Yes, I will also ask them if there are people who's into reselling of bitcoin books. Sometimes, I also wonder if selling bitcoin books from our local section is a good idea but the problem is Andreas Antonopolous didn't provide such inquiry request for people who is interested in re-selling his works.  Huh
2925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you know job/investment related to crypto that provide stable daily income? on: June 14, 2020, 07:23:23 AM
I'm thinking of becoming a merchant for BTC-Paypal and vice versa but I don't know how to start it yet.
Be careful when you are dealing using Paypal especially if you are exchanging hundreds of dollars everyday as it may attract the eyes of the government which leads to suspension or freezing of your account. Even though IRS is still not confirming if an exchange of crypto to fiat is taxable, it would be much better to stay vigilant at all cost.

At the moment, I am looking for a stable business or a stable job related to blockchain or cryptocurrency where I can earn $100/day. I know there are a lot of guys in this forum that have bright ideas and I'm hoping I can get one that I can try.
If I am not mistaken, are you a Filipino? Earning an equivalent of $100/day is a pretty big amount of money to earn in 3rd World Countries. If you have any skills in programming then why not try to become a freelancer as of the moment? There are lots of websites that offers freelancing jobs from various fields.

[1] Fiverr
[2] Upwork
[3] Freelancer.com

I can't think of another idea other than online reselling or e-commerce that can be advertised using your Social Media Account but they are still a good idea especially if you are adding BTC as one of the mode of payments.
2926  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Feedback system is not ONLY for DT member on: June 14, 2020, 05:42:30 AM
In addition, if you send accurate feedback, you will add you to their trust lost which at the end may push you to be a DT member.
If I am not mistaken, aside from providing accurate feedback from other users, a person must be able to comply to these different requirement from theymos right? Thus, if all the requirements are fulfilled, you are now eligible to enter the lottery draw for DT1 isn't it?

#1
As a special exception to the normal algorithm for determining a user's trust network, if you are on the default trust list ("DT1") but more other DT1 members distrust you than explicitly trust you, then it is as if you are distrusted by the default trust list for all purposes except for this very DT1-composition determination.

So if someone on DT1 is doing something stupid, you can ask other DT1 members to distrust them.

See here for live info on this "DT voting".

#2
You can view any page as if you were using the default trust settings by putting ;dt at the end of the URL. Eg. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=35;dt

#3
I will periodically (maybe every month) be reconstructing the default trust list to include everyone who matches these criteria:
 - If rank was determined solely using earned merit, then you must be of at least Member rank.
 - You must have been online sometime within the last 3 days.
 - Your trust list must include at least 10 users, not including ~distrust entries.
 - You must not be banned or manually blacklisted from selection.
 - You must have posted sometime within the last 30 days.
 - You must have at least 10 people directly trusting you each with an earned merit of at least 10, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.
 - You must have at least 2 people directly trusting you with an earned merit of at least 250, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.
2927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Snipie's gambling investment test on: June 14, 2020, 04:41:53 AM
Is this the Yatsan effect Cheesy. He started it and now you created a second investment test Smiley but anyway this can be a huge advertisement for the site itself and more people will try to invest BTC there Smiley.

Perhaps, later I will make a thread following with @Snipie and @Yatsan Grin
Here goes the ripple effect of YoloDice Investment  Cheesy. Consequently, people are now becoming aroused when it comes to bankroll investment and it is a good factor for investors and YoloDice players even despite of having a small house edge.

If you may, I will share my profit right now. I invested May 7 and now it is One month, one week of my investment already. 2.8% for more than a month isn't that bad though and that would be better compare to just sitting my BTC on their site.

I feel envious to see how your investment grew in a matter of 4 weeks LOL  Cheesy

I have a dumb question (my apologies)  Cheesy. Would you able to take it all right away? At anytime? Right?
Yep. YoloDice does not hold your investment. You can close your investment at anytime if you feel that you are okay with your profit, you can even close it immediately after opening an investment without having to worry some penalties.

More information here about YoloDice Investment. https://yolodice.com/#faq

I'm not really used to invest in gambling sites, maybe I should try it sometimes, and I see, the minimum investment should be 0.01BTC, meaning, to get decent ROI, we should invest roughly 0.1BTC right?
I don't think there is a mandatory initial or minimum investment in YOLOdice. Also, the ROI depends on the the amount of your initial investment and the duration of your BTC or any cryptocurrency in the bankroll. A large investment value can also give you a decent profit overtime and low investment value could also mean low investment return.

Looks like you can buy the e-book version from Andreas website directly, https://aantonop.com/shop/.
It's tiring to read thru e-book  Cheesy though I can get a digital copy of the three of them.

so if you don't want to buy the e-book, maybe your only alternative is your local shop. I doubt anyone can give you free shipping or a huge shipping discount if you buy a single book and live somewhere far from US/EU etc.

$50 for shipping fees? Are you sure you didn't pick most expensive or fastest duration option? Usually i only paid between $5 - $15 on international shipping (for a book).
Philippines is pretty far from EU  Cheesy

I just looked at it's 17 euros for a paperback on my local store, so you really ought not to be paying more than that more an e-book.
Nice! Is the 17 euro includes the three volume of "The Internet of Money" ?
2930  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin Books Reseller on: June 13, 2020, 06:56:33 AM
Greetings Everyone,

I just want to ask if there is some services that sells physical bitcoin books aside from Amazon. I tried to order some books of Andreas Antonopolous Book Series of "The Internet of Money" but the shipping fee costs me a lot. I haven't tried asking from our Local Board yet because I don't think so that there is some physical or online store that resells bitcoin books.

The shipping fee is about $50 for a $22 total book price  Huh
2931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Testnet. Activate, experience it, but don't trade and get scammed. on: June 13, 2020, 05:33:41 AM
I am glad that I have found this thread before committing bitcoin transfer on the main net. I used tBTC to test and to be comfortable transferring bitcoin from Hardware Wallet to Electrum and Vice Versa  Cheesy

For newbies, they can claim testnet coins to get experience with bitcoin (on testnet, of course), including how to install a wallet, backup a wallet, label an address, send a coin to a receiver, send coins to multiple receives in one batch of transaction, etc.
I have some spare tBTC in my wallet. Maybe if there is anyone interested in trying testnet for their HW or Electrum, they can drop a PM to me  Cheesy

Thanks a lot, I was searching for one like this although in rare times I had to deal with tables  Smiley
Can I ask someone to give you merit for your kind help? I will once available.
No worries. If you want to have some additional format for creating tables, you can try experimenting this format.
[1]  Some suggestions if you want to use tables on Bitcointalk

Also, try to avoid some space in order to distorting the table, just to make it neat and clean.

I highly suggest to monitor your investment in a weekly basis since doing it daily can be tiresome. Good luck on your investment on BTC and LTC. Don't try to imitate what I have done -- 4 days of investing then withdraw  Cheesy.
2933  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you get real time crypto news, social media updates and price alerts? on: June 12, 2020, 12:26:05 PM
How do you make a trade or investment decision? Don't you read news and check the price updates of your Coin? How do you do this?
Well it is a no brainer to check news site, visiting trading discussion to give you at least what is going on in the market or to check if your speculation if it is similar with other traders. That is to assume that you already know some basic T.A and F.A.

If there's any 1-stop place to get all in real-time for free would you like to join?
Even if it offers free service, make sure to verify first and do your own research.

2935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Snipie's gambling investment test on: June 12, 2020, 07:41:05 AM
Thank you for creating a weekly investment report in YoloDice. However, it would be very helpful to see if a tabular form of data will be created when submitting a weekly report (if you prefer) to see an estimation of your loss and gains.

Like for example:

DATE || START BTC || BTC ADDED || END BTC || USD PRICE
12/06/2020 || 0.01 BTC || 0.01 BTC || 0.01 BTC || 0 USD

Code:
[table]
[tr][td][u][b]DATE[/b][/u][/td][td] || [u][b]START BTC[/b][/u][/td][td] || [u][b]BTC ADDED[/b][/u][/td][td] ||[u][b] END BTC[/b][/u][/td][td] || [u][b]USD PRICE[/b][/u][/td][td][/tr]

[tr][td]12/06/2020[/td][td] || 0.01 [color=orange][btc][/color][/td][td] || 0.01 [color=orange][btc][/color][/td][td] || 0.01 [color=orange][btc][/color][/td][td] || 0 USD[/td][td][/tr]
[/table]

That way, you can easily monitor your gains and loss weekly without being confused. Anyways, that is just a format, edit the table based on how you are going to monitor your weekly or daily investment.

If anyone has a tutorial on BitcoinTalk, you can sell it to me for cash. And if you think that's why I'm buying tutorials, I'm actually trying to learn the work of Bounty. I can do a little bit and try to learn more
Learnings are free. The only thing you need in order to advance is to learn how to read and listen from other people's advice. You have plenty of time to educate yourself and reach a good rank to be able to join legit campaigns. Come on brother, discipline and dedication to learn is a must, earning is only a bonus in this community.
2938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin reach adult age (18 years old) before there are 20 million BTC ? on: June 12, 2020, 05:00:07 AM
In today's age, bitcoin is approximately 11 years old -- (11 years 5 months 3 days) prior to January 9, 2009 whereas the creation of Genesis Block to be exact. Moreover, in order for bitcoin to reach 18 years of age, we needed to reach an exact date of January 9, 2027. In that case, if we subtract the estimated date to reach 18 yrs of age to the present date, we will going to have an approximate 6 years 6 months 28 days to compute before bitcoin celebrate his 18th birthday. Of course in order to compute an accurate data, we need to convert 6 years 6 months 28 days into calendar days which give us 2402 calendar days

In time of writing this, we have a total of 18,428,950 BTC bitcoin in existence, and we needed to multiply the average bitcoin created per day to 2402 calendar days with respect to halving. Before doing so, we need to know the number of particular days in the next halving and present halving.

Block reward: 6.25 | Average bitcoin created per day 900 | June 12, 2020 - May 10, 2024 (1428 days)
900 * 1428 = 1 285 200 BTC

Block reward: 3.125 | Average bitcoin created per day 450 | From May 10, 2024 - May 10, 2028 (1461 days). Before proceeding, we need to take note that May 10, 2028 is not exact date of bitcoin's 18th birthday. If we are going to subtract Jan 9, 2027 and May 10, 2024, it will give us a result of 974 calendar days whereas the statement from @stompix is correct. It is about 2 years 7 months 30 days after the 4th halving.

I don't know what you did here but it ain't right. Grin
Coin number 20 mil will be mined about two years after the next halving, so BTC won't be able to get a Japanese driving license by that time.

450 * 974 (2402 - 1428) = 438 300 BTC

To add: 1 285 200 +  438 300 = 1 723 500 BTC added
18,428,950 BTC +  1 723 500 BTC = 20 152 450 BTC circulating supply after bitcoin reaches its 18th birthday.

To check:
1428 days + 974 days = 2402 days

PS: The numerical values are just estimation based on the data given below as a reference.

As far as I know, even in the past, using coinbase or any exchange/ custodial wallet isn't a safe place to store bitcoin or any other altcoins as they are taking away your power to use bitcoin independently. It is definitely defeating the purpose of having a financial sovereignty at the first place. It is exponentially better to create your own wallet with seed phrase written on a piece of paper rather than entrusting your coins to a "third party"

Also, I fear that at some point they are going to tax cryptocurrency holders  Huh
