2921  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-03-28] Grayscale Threatens Legal Action if SEC Rejects Bitcoin ETF bid on: March 30, 2022, 02:48:58 AM
According to other articles, legal action from Grayscale would begin on July 6 if they do not approve the trust's conversion bid from GBTC to an ETF. I am not quite sure about their desperation. However, if Barry Silbert is successful, I speculate this might cause others to create their own bitcoin trust fund for application to convert to an ETF hehehe..

Barry is ready to file the lawsuit

Grayscale is not ruling out seeking legal action against the Securities and Exchange Commission if the agency continues to prohibit the launch of a spot cryptocurrency ETF, CEO Michael Sonnenshein said.

“I think all options are on the table,” Sonnenshein said during an interview with Bloomberg Monday when asked if Grayscale would consider an Administrative Procedure Act lawsuit if their application to convert the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) into an ETF is denied.

2922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 30, 2022, 01:49:22 AM
This is not fake news. There is a wallet you can follow which shows the transactions being sent to Binance. So far for the last 4 days they sent $125M each day. People have been following the wallet and trying to front run the move.

They do a test transaction first like 40 USDT and then they do the actual $125M. They use some Jump type of strategy to buy them. Most likely TWAP.

Currently they got like $1B left in their account. However there is more according to the news reports. This is obviously bullish as bears won’t be shorting until he is done with his buys.

This was 2 of the first transactions shared by @whale_alert. I am quite certain there will be more hehehe. Each transaction was $125 million in USDT.

https://mobile.twitter.com/whale_alert/status/1506069306446172163

This ethereum address is speculated to be one of Do Kwon's wallets under his control for USDT.

https://etherscan.io/address/0xAd41BD1cf3Fd753017Ef5c0da8dF31A3074EA1Ea

Oklink speculates that this is the bitcoin address also under Do Kwon's control.

https://www.oklink.com/en/btc/address/bc1q9d4ywgfnd8h43da5tpcxcn6ajv590cg6d3tg6axemvljvt2k76zs50tv4q

In any case, similar to Michael Saylor's procurement of bitcoin, there is some skepticism on Do Kwon's investment hehehe. There should be some skepticism because if Do Kwon holds a very large amount of bitcoin it might be argued by himself that the failure of Terra and UST might also be the failure of the cryptospace market because he can dump everything. This is also similar to Michael Saylor who has bought bitcoin with leverage. However, only 30% of the danger that Do Kwon might cause assuming that he completes all $10 billion in bitcoin.

Will smith punch Chris Rock right on Oscars.

I know this is off topic here but just wanted to update a bit. He was laughing at first I'm not sure what happen there. All of a sudden he just walk straight to Chris and this isn't a joke at all. Glad to see Chris didn't retaliate right on the stage. Will the Oscar invite someone like Smith after this?

I thought it was part of Chris Rock's presentation, however when the audio was turned off and censored in ABC's broadcast, I learn that it was a real slap. But I was still confused hehehe.

You ask will the academy invite someone like Will Smith after this? The answer would be they will certainly invite someone like Will Smith after this hehehe. It might pump the ratings.

Also, Coda for best picture is my only winning bet. I have learned that in betting on the Oscars we should wait until the last week, wait for those odds that have fallen from high to low because it might be the winner. Coda was 17.00 and fell to 2.00, the best supporting actor also was higher before it went down. There were also other categories where this occured.
2924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 29, 2022, 03:11:11 AM
What about Sterling vs Yan fight? Expected outcome, another oscar play or upset? As expected, Khabib is going to be Yans corner. Bet I think Yan is not going to listen his tips much. As previously, “knee” from the corner cost him champtions belt.

This will be very head shaking for Petr Yan. We cannot be quite certain if Khabib, Henry Cejudo or the others that Petr Yan asked to be in his corner would agree. It also appears that the only fighter who agreed to be in his corner is Suga Sean O'Malley. There were other news articles that were mentioning that Petr Yan ignored Khabib.

However, it seems that Yan will be heading to the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida without his coaches and cornerman. On Tuesday, MMA reporter Bruno Massami broke the news that entry into the United States has been denied for the coaches that were set to corner him in his championship bout.

This major setback for the 29-year-old is another instance of the hard stances that governments around the world have taken against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine three weeks ago. Along with economic sanctions levied on the Russian government and the country’s oligarchs, sports leagues have pulled events from the country, and Visa requests for Russian athletes have been denied in a various nations.

2925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LooksRare NFT marketplace token is pumping on: March 29, 2022, 02:31:32 AM
@Wapfika. Opensea has declared that those users who had stolen NFTs from the platform were victims of a phishing attack. However, there are other people who speculate that the flaws are inside the platform itself. I am waiting for more information on this because it appears to only be speculations for now.

It also appears that Looksrare might not be the only competitor for Opensea. Cryptofund Paradigm has invested in a seed round for another Opensea competitor Blur. Other seed investors include eGirl Capital, 0xMaki and LedgerStatus who are popular members of the cryptospace community.

Blur, a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace geared toward professional traders, said Monday that it has raised $11 million in new seed funding.

"Current NFT marketplaces prioritize the retail experience, but they neglect the growing needs of pro traders," the startup wrote in its blog post announcing the funding round's completion.

2926  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-11]The legendary investor spoke about the future of bitcoin on: March 29, 2022, 01:25:21 AM
@cr1776. It might not be a negative view of things. It is only his view on markets. If prices are low, invest and buy. If it does not go up, manipulate it and pump it. If the prices are, short it. If the price does not go down, also manipulate it and dump it hehehe. I reckon we should know what is his view on the cryptospace market, is it high or is it low? I wish it is low hehehehe.
2927  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-23]Thailand Bans Use of Cryptocurrencies as a Method of Payment on: March 28, 2022, 04:06:05 AM
How will the government of Thailand enforce the ban?

Quite simply, all legal entities are no longer allowed to accept cryptocurrencies as a means of payment, and anyone who would continue to do so would be breaking the law. Given the penalties in that country, I don't think it will occur to anyone to try to do something illegal.

Of course, this does not mean that crypto transactions in that country will stop in terms of payment for goods and services, they will only take place privately between individuals. No government can prevent the use of Bitcoin for private purposes, that is the beauty of the whole system that can continue to operate despite any ban.

The question was really something that does not need an answer. It is a challenge on how the government of Thailand can enforce a ban on cryptocurrencies where a group of people can use it for ICOs, Defi and NFTs. Will sending digital art or gift card tokens also be banned? What is their definition of cryptocurrencies.

The government of Thailand would be creating more problems for themselves and they might not have the budget and the knowledge to solve these problems. I predict the removal of these restrictions in 3 years.
2928  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-23] El Salvador Postpones Planned Bitcoin Bond on: March 28, 2022, 02:49:05 AM
I would advise El Salvador against issuing a "bitcoin bond", especially if they are bullish on the price of bitcoin over the term of the bond.

When you borrow bitcoin and use the proceeds for things that are priced/valued in fiat, you are effectively shorting bitcoin. If El Salvador believes the bitcoin price will increase, they will end up paying more money to pay off the bond than they received in proceeds.

Over the years, there have been a decent number of forum members who borrowed bitcoin at low prices, used the money to pay for something IRL, and ended up the equivalent of millions of dollars in debt.

The government of El Salvador is not borrowing bitcoin. It is borrowing American dollars which 50% will be used to buy bitcoins and the other half will be used to build infrastructure for bitcoin city and the restoration of a geothermal plant.

I speculate the buyers of much of the bitcoin bonds will be Tether hehehe.

@SFR10. I disagree. Government bonds have always been better than corporate bonds because it offers more assurances and tax deductions than corporate bonds. Also, did the IMF's statements against the Salvador's issuance of the bitcoin bond caused this? I speculate it might be.
2929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 28, 2022, 01:53:48 AM
You mean prime Canelo? Yes, you have a point. Well, if that happens then it's quite clear that GGG doesn't stand a chance to defeat the current Canelo as he don't got what it takes anymore. So a trilogy will be nonsense to even bother make it happen.

Canelo is just 31 years old so we can take that factor that he's on prime. It's an advantage over a 40-year-old GGG. If Murata will defeat GGG, non-sense to fight now with Canelo if he can't handle the types of Murata, how can he defeat Canelo which is currently powerful at this stage?

GGG will be tested by Murata. It can also be considered as his training before facing the stronger Canelo.

We all like to see the trilogy. GGG has to pass Murata if he really likes the third fight with Canelo.

Agreed. It is also head shaking that boxing fans want to witness a trilogy for Canelo and GGG. This Canelo of today would knockout the GGG of today in 7 rounds that everyone might say that it was unfair for the promoters to give GGG to Canelo hehehe. Compare the improvements of each boxer and decide. I reckon it is Canelo who has been challenging himself for his legacy.
2930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: March 28, 2022, 12:35:15 AM
@Rikafip. Thank you, it appears that you did not forget to post the latest odds so we could know which underdogs have won the award hehe. My bets are Coda for best picture, Benedict Cucumber for best actor, Kodi McPhee for best supporting actor, Licorice Pizza for best original screenplay and Spiderman no way home for best visual effects.

What was the odds for Ariana DeBose before March? I think it was Kirsten Dunst who was the favorite for best supporting actress when it was listed by sportsbooks.

News update.

I am shaking my head because it appears Colby Covington did not file charges because their team have not declared anything and the news articles do not mention anything also. Can the district attorney file charges against Jorge Masvidal if Colby did not file them?

Masvidal show your face challenge

Jorge Masvidal has pleaded not guilty to the charges of felony battery and criminal mischief following an alleged altercation with Colby Covington.

Wednesday, Masvidal turned himself in to Miami Beach police and was booked inside the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. You can view footage of Masvidal’s surrender below.

Masvidal was released Thursday on $15,000 bail. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi was among the first to reveal that Masvidal has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and is set to appear in court for the first time on April 21. Masvidal is being charged with two felonies: aggravated battery with bodily harm and criminal mischief.

Also, it appears the UFC has underestimated Jennifer Maia hehehe. She will beat this french girl.
2932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 26, 2022, 02:58:06 AM
According to Eddie Hearn the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua is almost a certainty. There were also mention that the Ukranian fans express their support because Usyk will do more for Ukraine in the ring with boxing gloves than fighting a war in Ukraine with a machine gun.

I am very skeptical, however, if Usyk has left Ukraine for training, I reckon this might confirm that the fight being on June might be true.

Hearn says he’ll be speaking with Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk tonight and this weekend to get the fight finalized and the date + location for the rematch.

“I’m almost certain this fight takes place in June,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about the Joshua vs. Usyk 2 rematch. “I’ve got more calls with Alex Krassyuk tonight and this weekend where we’re starting to finalize the date and the venue, but we got to the point where we said, ‘we need to know."

2933  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-23]Thailand Bans Use of Cryptocurrencies as a Method of Payment on: March 26, 2022, 01:21:22 AM
This will be a similar problem for the governments of different countries around the world. How will the government of Thailand enforce the ban? They can use fud, however, how long will the people be in fear, uncertainty and doubt? I reckon much of the people will not be in fear if they see how high the coins in the cryptospace can pump hehehehe.
2934  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-03-16] Bitcoin rallies as new South Korean president vows crypto push on: March 26, 2022, 12:39:56 AM
@NeuroticFish. The pump from what you mentioned yesterday was certainly not caused by this news from South Korea. This is only news of a president who is only planning to open their country for the cryptospace. It has not occured and it might not occur. However, it can be argued that the pump that began on March 14 that brought bitcoin from $37k to presently $44k is caused by another Korean, Do Kwon cofounder of Terra hehehe.

2935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol - May 7 on: March 25, 2022, 05:07:13 AM
I've read that Dmitry Bivol is confident that he can upset Canelo Alvarez.
Quote
On what he can do against Canelo that others couldn’t:
“I’m a different fighter. I’m a light heavyweight, I have good speed, I have good power. Every fighter is different. It means every fight will be different.”

On the keys to beating Canelo:
“To be honest, I just need to do my job, what I do best. It’s a good jab, good movement, and sometimes more pressure, sometimes go back. Everything I can do. If I do it well, I will win. I believe it.”
source

I have to disagree with the others that Bivol is the underdog in this match. Even odds tell that way, still Canelo is the guest here on Bivol's stage. He's already used on fighting at Light Heavyweight.

Upset Canelo? It's better if Canelo will be the one that has to upset Bivol.

Canelo is the one challenging him. Bivol is undefeated and just waiting for any challenge.

I disagree with your disagreement hehehe. However, I only agree on your speculation if you are making a bet on Bivol. Everyone has already witnessed that Canelo is something similar to Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquaio. They are the kings of the sport of boxing. But there is a chance for Bivol and he might be underestimated for this. I speculate Bivol's left hook, right uppercut might knockdown Canelo.
2936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 2022 OSCARS - Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: March 25, 2022, 04:10:17 AM
Yes, only a small bet hehehe. It is also only a bet if the academy would allow a black actor to win as best actor in this year's Oscars hehehe.
Since in the last twenty years four black actors won "Best Actor in a Leading Role" Oscars I don't think that's such a big issue anymore, situation changed. What people often forget is that black American actors not only have white Americans as a competition, but also actors from several others predominantly white countries like United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Spain, France etc and all those actors gravitate to United States. As a matter of fact, in the last ~20 years, only 13 out of 20 Oscars in that category were won by Americans. I mean, it sucks that we even have to talk about quotas and stuff like that, simply let the best man win.

You will be shocked on how the owners of the studios in America's movie industry might be racist. I will not say more about this because it might be offensive to some of the people of this forum hehe. In any case, I might also only be being my skeptical me again hehehe.

This feels like a bit of a weird year for some reason as someone who's an American who watches a lot of movies, I've barley heard of the nominees this year. ( funny thing as I'm typing this message an Oscars ad just popped up on the TV lol ).  I have seen Don't Look Up and absolutely loved it as well as a couple of the other movies. It's so hard predicting who's going to win.  I'm going to try and watch a few more of these movies so I can then make an informed bet on all this.

This is my advice on how to watch the movies nominated for best picture in order. You should begin with the movie with the feel good feeling and end it on the most boring movie hehe.

Movies you can watch with someone.

Coda
King Richard
Belfast
Licorice Pizza
Westside Story

Movies you should watch by yourself.

Dune
Drive my car
Nightmare Alley
Power of the dog

Nightmare Alley made me laugh in the ending when I watched it alone. There are some movies that you need to watch alone to take in the story and take in the character development.
Movie you should not watch:
Power of the dog.
Such a time waster. I am telling you already - don't waste time watching Power of the dog. It is depressing, slow and very boring. I wonder what has brough that movie nominated for the Oscar. However Belfast has a good story and have an excellent cinematography. Wonder piece of art!

I very much agree. Power of the Dog is certainly the most boring movie nominated for Oscar best picture and it appears there are bettors who speculate that the academy members might have voted for Coda as best picture. The odds have reduced from 5.00 to only 2.15.

https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/specials/entertainment/oscar-best-picture/oscar-best-picture-61f10b147d0388a7e3b146a5

I reckon this might be because Coda won the Producer's guild awards for best movie. I will bet for Coda. This might be similar to 2018 and 2019 where Green Book and Parasite won best picture versus the favorites.
2937  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-03-16] Bitcoin rallies as new South Korean president vows crypto push on: March 25, 2022, 03:29:43 AM
It appears that South Korea might become the lighthouse tower for the cryptospace in Asia where it might attract the biggest crypto investments that everyone will witness. Another South Korean, Do Kwon the Terra cofounder has already planned his roadmap to buy $10 billion in bitcoin to use as a reserve asset for the Terra UST stablecoin.

It also appears that this might be a jackpot for Defiance Capital founder Arthur Cheong, who is presently living in South Korea hehe. I predict other cryptofunds will follow him.

Conservative South Korean President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol is now set to move into the Blue House in Seoul in May.

Yoon has vowed to deregulate the cryptocurrency industry and introduce favourable tax laws for crypto investors.

According to Yonhap news, he said: “To realise the unlimited potential of the virtual asset market, we must overhaul regulations that are far from reality and unreasonable."

His view is that cryptocurrencies should be allowed to operate within South Korea without regulations.

He added: “We must shift to a negative regulation system to ensure at least the virtual asset market has no worries."

2938  Economy / Speculation / Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: March 25, 2022, 02:40:21 AM
It appears the cryptospace has found a bigger celebrity investor than Michael Saylor or Elon hehehe. His name is Do Kwon, the cofounder of Terra, who was also the cofounder of blockchain project Cosmos. According to other news articles, $3 billion is only the beginning. Terra will invest $10 billion in total in bitcoin to use as a reserve asset for Terra UST stablecoin.

The Luna Foundation Guard (LFG) has raised $2.2 billion for its bitcoin reserve and hopes to hit $3 billion in the short term, with a longer-term goal of $10 billion, Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon said in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

LFG, a Singapore-based non-profit working on the Terra blockchain, will use the bitcoin as a reserve asset for Terra (UST), the largest algorithmic stablecoin on the blockchain.

Read in full https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/138892/do-kwon-reveals-plan-to-increase-usts-bitcoin-reserve-to-3-billion

According to 3 Arrows Capital's cofounder Kyle Davis, Terra is using $125 million a day to buy bitcoin. I am not certain if this is the real buy strategy or if this is only his assumption.

I can tell some of you have not executed size before. Let me tell you buying $125mil/day of $BTC for 3 months is a lot.

Also, will Tyreek Hill miss Patrick Mahomes or Patrick Mahomes miss Tyreek Hill? awho got scammed in this trade? NFL experts, was this a good trade? Tyreek Hill traded for 5 draft picks?

I speculate Tyreek Hill might be lower in fantasy points for 2022 compared to 2021 because of the Dolphin's quarterback.
