2942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2022 betting thread on: February 21, 2022, 04:03:09 AM
I just see this thread and it make me laugh and awe. That even an event like this can be put in for betting on sportsbooks.
Betting on this should have seen those movies to have better knowledge and analysis who can get the award and I guess this is harder to win than a common sports betting.
What about in sports betting? Would you place your bet on it if you don't know who are the players or the teams that are involved? Unless if you are just trying your luck and don't mind losing. I am not really into sports and I don't know if which last longer, is it the sports or the movie?

I mean the duration of the movie and a sports match but i think it also depends on the game and on the movie but we can also used the internet as a reference to instantly know the player or the cast. That cuts time if your not really a fan of watching the whole movie or watching the sport. Oscar awards/betting is a serious event and there is nothing funny about it.
Now, now, you seem a very serious person who get annoyed just because you saw someone's laugh without understanding whats behind it.

Sports bet is very different and seems to easy to bet and choose, mostly sports only have 2 choices to bet.
Unlike this oscars that has lots of entries which last 1 to 2 hours per movie. You cant bet yet and have full analysis not until you watch all of them. So think and decide what is longer to watch.

Yes internet is everything, but you cant just decide that the movie is good just watching a single or two clips in the internet even reading reviews, you need to see it yourself.
Oscars is serious event, but betting is fun.

As far as I can remember this is the gambling subforum. Also, if the sportsbooks did not list the odds for the Oscar awards, no person would be in awe and make them laugh. I like movies and I like gambling. The combination of the 2 is good for me. You should wait for Eurovision season and be again in laughter and awe.

Also, what does everyone predict the Oscar voters’ favorite political and social storyline might be for 2022? Will this be LGBTQ, religion and conflict, minorities and acceptance or children with disabilities awareness? It might be Elon and aliens hehehe.
2943  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your expectation on: February 21, 2022, 03:22:06 AM
@GreatArkansas. Are you saying only as mode of payment without holding bitcoin? I agree if they hold their wealth in something more stable. However, if also held in bitcoin, volatility would certainly be more concerning if someone uses bitcoin as a mode of payment. People holding it to use as a mode of payment would presently be spending more coins than when it was $60k.

Inflation in America is 7% causing someone who holds the dollar lose 7% purchasing power. Bitcoin is -45% from the all time high price of November also causing -45% in purchasing power and I am quite certain there are people who bought bitcoin during November.

You may want to add actual source link here, before someone reports you for plagiarism Wink
This is crazy times to live in Canada, I could never imagine that co-founder of centralized exchange would ever suggest their customers to stop using exchange, withdraw coins from his exchange and cash out.
Nobody can protect them from crazy government, so it's time for people to mass switch to Bisq and other decentralized exchanges.

I have talked to the plagiarism police already and they have approved my request for an extension to find the source hehehehe.

In any case, it might not only be in Canada. The Biden administration has also declared that the will create an executive order to give the treasury department more authority to control and regulate the cryptospace. I speculate that if they do not find anything, they will invent something. Wait for news about the cryptospace and terrorist funding hehehe.
2945  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-02-10] CNBC: Binance is taking a $200 million stake in Forbes on: February 21, 2022, 01:49:03 AM
@buwaytress. Your reply has made me think of the clearest, most possible, most practical and most realistic reason why Binance wants to buy Forbes! It might be for tax deductions and moneylaundering hehehe. For what other reasons would CZ buy a stake in an old magazine company? There are many other investments in the cryptospace that would need less investment, more yield.

With all due respect and without meaning to sound like a guy who likes stereotypes (plus I'm Asian so I can say this with some candour), the Chinese always make business decisions, and long-term ones. They're not very experimental, but conservative yet proven business plans focused on soft expansion and monopoly have worked very well for them (so far).

I am also sorry if I sounded like I have stereotyped Changpeng Zhao for being a wise businessman because he is Chinese. Your post only made me remember that there was a news report about CZ’s networth is $96 billion. It is also speculated that he might be worth more than this because it did not account for his personal bitcoin wallets.

I predict CZ’s next project is a charity organization or a foundation. These are very much similar to what billionaires do to create corporate identities that they can use for holding and moving money and also be exempted in some forms of taxation hehehe.

This is the 2022 version of Kraken CEO, Jesse Powell on what exchanges might do if they are forced to comply by regulators. It appears between choosing the business or the security and privacy of their customers and their customer’s coins, they will not think twice to comply without a fight. The 2017 version of Jesse Powell was different because he was fighting for the users.

I speculate that this might be because the situation is changing. The government might have collected enough knowledge and legal tools to take down noncompliant exchanges and imprison or impose fines on their owners.

In a follow-up tweet, Powell warned that Kraken and other centralized crypto exchanges would be forced to comply with law enforcement if asked to freeze deposits from certain crypto addresses. In response to user @degderat asking if Kraken would be put in a position where it is told to freeze assets by the police without judicial consent, Powell responded:

“100% yes it has/will happen and 100% yes, we will be forced to comply. If you’re worried about it, don’t keep your funds with any centralized/regulated custodian. We cannot protect you. Get your coins/cash out and only trade p2p [peer-to-peer].”

2948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Avalanche just overtook Binance Coin in Total Value Locked (TVL) on: February 19, 2022, 03:38:04 AM
Any idea what could have triggered this? I remember there were some platforms on BSC increased their liquidity because of the high APR or APY they offered for stable coin pairs. It's probably the same scenario for Avalanche don't you think? TVLs would likely decrease if they started reducing the rates just like what happened in other chains.

I am not as experienced on blockchain games, however, do those games also lock in tokens for liquidity providing and farming? I saw someone in social media mention that Avalanche is becoming the gaming chain because it appears there are many blockchain gaming developers that are making it their platform of choice to release their projects. Also, much of the projects in Binance are very low quality and there are many scamcoins.
2949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter now supports Ethereum wallets on: February 19, 2022, 03:04:10 AM
ok support for ethereum is already a big step compared to not having a crypto friendly social network. but mostly of twitter users as already said will find this feature useless.
at this point they could support metamask to allow to use also "cheaper" blockchains like xdai or matic even BSC it has a cheap price... we have seen several coins built with same standards...

I speculate that the tipping feature might only be the beginning of a selection of new features being developed by the social media giant. It might also develop and release a platform that might be related to NFT which appear to be the next stage of adoption in the cryptospace. NFTs might also create more mainstream interest than bitcoin, cryptocoins or Defi, I reckon.
2950  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-02-10] CNBC: Binance is taking a $200 million stake in Forbes on: February 19, 2022, 02:31:16 AM
I am concerned about Binance's spree of investments however, they are giant enough now and they seem to like manipulation so I really wonder what they are planning to invest in Forbes for.

CZ’s plan for Forbes will be similar on how the billionaires like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos or Mark Zuckerburg use the companies they have in their control. This is always for more profit and more influence. Do you reckon Warren Buffett looks good in mainstream news media because he is really a good person or a good investor? CZ might use Forbes to make him the next Warren Buffett because a lie repeated long enough will become the truth for the audience.
2951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: February 18, 2022, 07:12:47 AM
Has anyone visited owl.games and owldao.io? It appears that tokenizing their casino and sportsbook might help them build a loyal community of users where those users can stake the tokens in the Dao and receive a percentage of casino earnings or the Dao has a buy back and burn mechanism which increases the token’s price.

owl.games might have begun something new for sportsbooks in the cryptospace.
2952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Is the First Bank Into the Metaverse, Looks at Business Opportunities on: February 18, 2022, 06:25:30 AM
Seems like a framed story to pump the metaverse projects because I don't think many people even know about Bitcoin to understand metaverse payments projects and make investments on it. So its probably an attempt to create another hype but to the actual long term investor its just another bump and dump scheme.

You might be correct that much of those projects might be scams, however, I also disagree because liquidity will only create more liquidity. It does not require anyone to hype the metaverse because this is where liquidity will naturally flow as speculated by JPMorgan. Did you read JPMorgan’s analysis? Everything in that analysis was not based on hype, it was based on increased liquidity year on year.

It also appears this will only the first of venture capital funds that might also become real crypto participants in Defi and the metaverse hehehe.

The Sequoia Crypto Fund will primarily focus on investing in liquid tokens and digital assets.

”While we’ve invested in both equity and tokens over the last five years, many have asked that we take a more active role in managing our tokens, including staking them, providing liquidity, participating in governance and trading through their platforms,” said Sequoia partners Michelle Bailhe, Shaun Maguire and Alfred Lin in the announcement post.

2953  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-29] Biden Admin To Regulate Bitcoin As A Matter Of National Security on: February 18, 2022, 05:13:32 AM
This appears to be the American cryptofirms’ solution to be compliant on the Biden administration’s executive order to strictly regulate the cryptospace that will begin next week according to some articles. I reckon putting restraining orders on public addresses that break the rules will be easy which criminalizes all transactions going out of the address, however, enforcing the restraining order will certainly be difficult.

A coalition of some of the US's largest crypto firms is rolling out a solution to heightened anti-money laundering standards.

The so-called Travel Rule Universal Solution Technology, or "TRUST," allows crypto firms to securely collect and transmit customer data in accordance with the travel rule.

Now, a group of the US's biggest crypto players have rolled out their solution in the form of TRUST. Anchorage, Avanti, Bitgo, bitFlyer, Bittrex, BlockFi, Circle, Coinbase, Fidelity Digital AssetsSM, Gemini, Kraken, Paxos, Robinhood, Standard Custody & Trust, Symbridge, Tradestation, Zero Hash and Zodia Custody make up the founding members.

Coinbase heads up the coalition, announcing a white paper for a peer-to-peer information network operated by a governance body of participants. TRUST is the result. Though Coinbase kicked off the effort, members have equal stake and say in the decision-making, according to Anchorage's head of compliance Jennifer Lee.

@buwaytress. Wait for forbes tokens, only available in Binance smart chain through Pancakeswap and can be staked though the ForbesDAO for more tokens hehehe.

I reckon it might also be the beginning for more buys of mainstream news media companies. There are other mainstream news media companies similar to techcrunch.com that might be a better product fit for Binance. Also, this clearly shows that CZ is in control of much liquidity for his takeover hehe. Is he preparing himself for a bear market? Why is he buying real assets?

Stipe Miocic just became full-time firefighter for city of Westlake!
When I saw this news first I was thinking he is going to quit UFC and fighting game, but watching the video I found out he gained a lot of muscles, he is training hard and coming back soon.
That is going to happen only if Dana White allows him to do that, and it's known that he is not his biggest fan.
https://www.cleveland19.com/2022/02/15/former-ufc-champ-stipe-miocic-sworn-firefighter-city-westlake/

I reckon he was a full-time firefighter already for another fire department before being sworn in for the city of Westlake. This might only be a transfer and a formality of the transfer.

In by case, there will be 3 sexy fighting kittens for this UFC event hehehe. We have Diana Belbita, Gloria de Paula and Jessica Rose Clark. Who is your winner?

Contestant no.1, Diana Belbita

Constestant no.2, Gloria de Paula

Constestant no.3, Jessica Rose Clark
2956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 17, 2022, 05:31:58 AM
^^ Yeah, it will be good if Kambosos will give Loma the chance to get back his title. I guess this is a good fight for Kambosos as well because he will be facing one of the best technical fighters we have currently. It's going to be a big test for him. He already did it once against Lopez, beat and pull one of the biggest upset. So let's see if he can make it 2 in row against Loma.

According to 2 boxing experts in the forum, @Boafeng and @bisdak, Teofimo Lopez is not a cery good fighter. The only big name he has defeated is Lomachenko who was speculated to have personal problems before the fight. Let us wish that the sportsbooks will be biased on Kambosos and offer high winning odds for Lomachenko hehehe.

@judeafante. Agreed and according to the article, Kambosos told his team that he wanted a challenge. He will be very respected of he wins, however, the skeptical me is speculating that he might only be thinking that this is his only chance for big money. He will get the biggest opportunity while it is there and retire hehehehe.
2957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / JPMorgan Is the First Bank Into the Metaverse, Looks at Business Opportunities on: February 17, 2022, 04:16:38 AM
No to bitcoin, yes to the metaverse? This article is causing me to speculate on why JPMorgan does not like bitcoin. This might be because they were not the first to invest in it when it was very cheap hehehe.

In any case, their interest in the metaverse might be letting everyone know that this might only be the beginning and the next pumps might be on metaverse, gaming tokens and NFT. I speculate anyone who has missed big profits on Defi and Dao tokens might have another chance on metaverse and gaming tokens.

JPMorgan, the largest bank in the U.S., said it has become the first lender to arrive in the metaverse, having opened a lounge in Decentraland, a virtual world based on blockchain technology.

As well as the unveiling of the Onyx lounge (the name refers to the bank’s suite of permissioned Ethereum-based services), JPMorgan also released a paper exploring how businesses can find opportunities in the metaverse.

"There is a lot of client interest to learn more about the metaverse,” Christine Moy, JPMorgan’s head of crypto and the metaverse, said in an email. “We put together our white paper to help clients cut through the noise and highlight what the current reality is, and what needs to be built next in technology, commercial infrastructure, privacy/identity and workforce, in order to maximize the full potential of our lives in the metaverse.”

2958  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-27] Bill might give Yellen unilateral power to ban BTC and crypto on: February 17, 2022, 03:10:25 AM
@o_e_l_e_o. Agreed, that was my argument also. This is why a development team of real projects in the cryptospace must also issue a token as protection for their project because if they do not issue a token, it will be forked and issued a token.

You are correct, it was a wrong assumption. However, my argument is on how tokens give incentives to the community of the project and support the project. Similar to my example on Ripple, I am quite certain there would be no community of people who would be interested in fast bank settlements if there was no XRP token. A similar argument can also be created in all projects in the cryptospace.

A project that issued a token does not always imply that it is a scam. Similar to what I have said, developers do not have a choice, they must issue a token or their project will be forked with a token issued with it. This would cause users to leave the original and go to the shiny things hehehehe.
2959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2022 betting thread on: February 16, 2022, 04:38:26 AM
Perhaps the only surprise in the nominees for best picture is the absence of House Of Gucci, but all other nominees on the list are well-deserved (except, maybe, Don't Look Up). Power Of The Dog by Jane Campion is a strong favorite, with Spielberg's West Side Story as a strong secondary contender.
I agree on Don’t Look Up. It was an entertaining comedy but not a movie for the Oscar awards. However, always there is politics in this. Leonardo di Caprio has the Hollywood connections to make his contemporaries vote for his projects in exchange for a chance to get favors hehehe.

My strong secondary is Belfast and my third is Coda. They are very good movies that everyone should watch. I shake my head when someone said there were no good movies created on 2021.
Have you seen Belfast? It wasn't a comedy, it wasn't a historical mastermind like Schindler's list, it wasn't proper drama that made you cry, it was absolutely nothing. What was it that made it so "sure to win Oscars" movie? The great communication of the troubles some people had back in the day. That is literally it, nothing more. Political is the way to go now, and if you do historical "minority" then you would be sure to be somewhere.

It was a story about childhood and living under a type of environment where violence might erupt anytime because of different religious beliefs. It was also a movie showing that despite the violence and the useless conflict, there was beauty and happiness in the innocence of childhood. I very much liked the movie and it might win best original screenplay. The production design was also good, the cinematography good and the music used in the movie was very good.  It was also based on the director’s childhood.
2960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 16, 2022, 03:55:51 AM
Lomachenko might be George Kambosos’ next opponent. Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia were also considered by the team of Kambosos, however, the best offer might be from Lomachenko’s team. This appears to be the return of the Ukranian lightweight to the championship. I speculate the sportsbooks might overestimate Kambosos’ upset on Teofimo Lopez and offer underdog odds on Lomachenko hehehe.

Report: Kambosos To Defend Lightweight Titles June 5 In Melbourne, Lomachenko Frontrunner

The date and venue for George Kambosos Jr.’s first defenses of his lightweight titles reportedly are set.

According to a report posted Tuesday afternoon on ESPN.com, Kambosos will defend his IBF, WBA, WBC “franchise” and WBO 135-pound championships on June 5 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, which can accommodate approximately 55,000 for boxing. Kambosos’ next fight thus would take place the night of June 4 in the United States.
