[subjective opinion about trading snipped]

Think about it. Rev 2 was released thirteen days ago, we are now on Rev 2.45..

Enough said.

2962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 10:30:15 PM
I intended an estimate... you can give as well a week time frame or a month time frame.

Anyway when there will be the public bounty? after 2.5? Was supposed to be after rev 2

thank you

yea and still no public bounty to crack the anon

It's completely understandable. Look, if they are making a new secure feature for anon that's yet to be announced, if its a new key feature, another world first for example, a public bounty would have allot more impact alongside its release, as well as with a PR campaign.

Business wise it makes perfect sense.

On a side note, keep up the excellent work synechist.

Thanks Mwalshe. Yeah, there's some smart stuff in development. Obviously we can't reveal anything until it's actually done, but it's a clever one.

Also, for some perspective, Rev 3 is the foundation for XC. The stuff coming afterwards, like interchains, is much more significant. Web 3.0 significant.

I've just told you guys that the public bounty is a Rev 3 thing. Did you not see it?

It's been a Rev 3 thing since we released the previous roadmap. I don't know how many times I've mentioned this.

Here's how it works:

- we release Rev 3 as an official public launch.

- thus we declare Rev 3 ready for general public use

- and to prove it we have a big bounty for anyone who can provably break XC's privacy.

Make sense now why it's stupid to offer a bounty before then? We'd have neither a completed app nor a reason to prove it.

from dan :

"I will be releasing an updated roadmap this weekend and also an updated wallet with improvements to the private transactions feature"

Is the wallet already been released with 2.45 or we will have a wallet release as well today?

Thank you.

PS: no ETA at this stage is not really professional... and when there will be the official bounty?

Dan's post referred to Rev 2.45. It's out already.

We're under no obligation to give you an ETA. Why would you expect one? You've got no idea how many variables this depends on.

It's not only professional to not give one, it would be irresponsible, thus unprofessional, to wantonly give dates without being 100% certain we couldn't keep our word.

The big public bounty is around Rev 3.

Thanks synechist...

One question though...

Is rev2 out and working on mainnet? If it is im not sure than many people are aware of that fact mate? And if it is I "thought" we were going to use some of the bounty to promote it.. I may be way off here? I think im still confused from the REV 2 release day ! lol

Yes Rev 2 has been implemented since 7/7/14, and has been on mainnet for weeks.

The paid PR will go out when Rev 2's UI update and yet-to-be-announced "Xnode update" tech is done.

Why would an ETA make a difference anyway? EM is already being tested; it's not as if we've got nothing to show for. It'll be out in due course.

The big public bounty is around Rev 3.

I feel you man.

I think the matter of perspective can fuel frustration on each side also.

I mean, you see all the great thing going on behind the scenes and that things are really starting to come together. You guys are also busting your butts and putting in long hours, so when you see posts from people constantly asking for updates or yet another confused investor, I can see how it might grate your nerves a bit. It can make them seem a bit whiny, ungrateful, etc.

From the investors' side--- They're in it for the long haul. Most of the coins are off the exchanges and in their wallets. They have quite a bit invested because they see the potential.  As someone mentioned earlier, some may have been burned by other coins in the past.  When it's quiet on the update front for a few days (because you're working, have lives, etc.) they can start to get a bit antsy. Especially when they're essentially told to trust or gtfo (not saying you've done this personally).

There's just that point where trust/anticipation and proof/delivery need to meet. Once you find that sweet spot you have happy campers all around. Smiley

Couldn't agree more. It feels like a fuel line... the flow's gotta be just right. Alternatively more trust will allow greater variation in the flow.

2968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 09:56:48 PM

Looks just like the 1st roadmap.

I beg to differ:

- UI update at Rev 2

- Rev 3 UI preview at Rev 2.5

- Rev 2.5 is the point at which trustless mixing is merged with secure private messaging

- Additional updates to xnodes in the Rev 2 phase (just to whet your appetites :-).

2969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 09:49:35 PM
hate to sound like a troll here, but any relative ETAs?

Nope. Not for the time being.

But you can expect the pace of development to be as fast as always.

2970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 09:46:56 PM
Here's our latest roadmap to Rev 3 and beyond!

- the Rev 2 "UI update" is a progress bar for private transactions and send fail/success confirmation. It's not the major Rev 3 UI update.

- private transactions and EM will be merged into a single app at Rev 2.5.

So this is what's new:

- UI update at Rev 2

- Rev 3 UI preview at Rev 2.5

- Rev 2.5 is the point at which trustless mixing is merged with secure private messaging

- Additional updates to xnodes in the Rev 2 phase (just to whet your appetites :-).

Ok folks, roadmap update time...

2972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 09:02:31 PM
A small misunderstanding regarding Darkcoin's masternodes:

It's completely decentralised. This is an improvement on the masternode (generic term: supernode) for two reasons:
- you don't create supernodes, which are big attractive targets for hackers
- you don't doubly incentivise hackers by requiring a large amount of coins be kept at a supernode.

Darkcoin's masternode doesn't have to hold the coins, you can keep them in cold wallet. For example my masternodes' wallets have 0 coins in them.

That's all, gl with the XC.

Thanks for that. Apologies for not understanding DRK properly.

I'm glad that keeping masternode DRK in cold storage is possible. That must be a relief!

How does this work? I mean, how does the network know a masternode has the requisite amount of DRK associated with it if the coins are actually elsewhere?
2973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 08:51:42 PM
Arlyn, thanks for the communication. Took a look this morning and saw that Bittrex was now 3rd overall in volume, and one of their top coins has a problem with a missing dev. People are confused about the communication with XC? At least we have people around to communicate with. Just keep doing what you are doing Arlyn. Many supporters here who appreciate your time and effort.

Thank you sir! I'll keep on communicating. And the clarity of information on XC will only improve.

My goal is to have the necessary information highly visible from all our platforms - and to have it all continually updated without some info getting out of date.

It must be so frustrating having to deal with all the trolls that have insecurity issues because they got burned by having other pump and dump coins dev constantly disappearing on them.   They are just not used to XC with the professional team that actually have an official PR person.

Keep up the good work!

Heh. Yeah, it'll take a while before the crypto world realises we're not the usual transient cryptotrash.

Until then, we'll need to continually affirm, support, and reaffirm people of where XC's at and what XC is.

It's a trust thing, and honestly people's low level of trust about cryptocurrencies is realistic, given the past.

But the community here is awesome, and it's growing. I can't wait to see how things will be in a month.

You already do a great job and i really appreciate you still want to improve Smiley

Thanks a lot. I suppose what I'd consider a "professional" standard of communication is still a little way off. It's too easy for updates to get lost in this thread, and it takes a lot of care to keep multiple platforms updated simultaneously. It also takes time to work out intuitive ways to order and position different types of info so that everyone can find it effortlessly. But I won't stop until it's top notch.

Just a brief comment on this. Ideally Dan would make a lot more announcements, since he's effectively the "CEO" as XC is his invention (not that XC is a company).

It's conventional for CEOs to announce products. However the workload and the pressure on Dan is extremely high and it's generally proved impractical to expect him to also handle communication roles.

2977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 08:30:07 PM

Le sigh... I'll continue to post references... And no, it doesn't go without saying because no one can verify in the source.

Here's the first REV2 release for mainnet. Note it says "decentralised trustless mixing", not multipath.

Do you seriously need Dan to come here and say that XC has multipath? I've just told you it does. What more do you want?

If Dan says it you still won't have access to the source code to how will this help you?

Furthermore you can make a private payment and then watch the fragments going out on any block explorer. That's multipath.

Yes, because it is important to note that development of the features has progressed as advertised. All I'm saying is that there are discrepancies between what PR says is released and what the developer says is released. This causes confusion. While PR is saying that more features are released than development has announced verbally, it just sounds like hype and no delivery. You have to understand we're all told to just "trust you" at face value for what we read in these forums. I'm not one to sit by idly and just "trust" someone without well-rounded communication.

Fair point, except that it's me who generally does the communicating for XC.

So you can generally expect to hear from me about new features, not from the devs.

Dan generally only posts links to software updates, along with a few provisory release notes. He doesn't generally post overviews of features.

This is because it's my job to do the communication, and it's his job to code.

Lastly, although you generally hear from me, anything regarding tech features are the result of long conversations with Dan. I ask about everything I need to know and then put it in normal language.

So if I say XC has a feature, then it does.

2978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 08:25:46 PM
hey synechist thanx for your updates. Might I suggest something? I d love it if every new wallet/app release on OP is clarified with bold letters, along with its features(multipath, EM etc). I believe that itd be easier than just trying to quote ur older messages or reply ourselves. I believe that the community's engagement is actually undermining your work, because people try to share the tech/features/updates without being able to grasp them them or describe them 100%, thus creating confusion.

Apart from that, Id love to see that new roadmap as well, it might clear things a bit!

Yes this is part of the upcoming OP. Clarity is very important, and since I started I've been working to put in place processes for keeping all our platforms up to speed and making sure they have the important info.

It's a complicated job because it involves working with the entire team, from branding to development. But the core process mostly in place and you can expect things to keep improving.

2979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 20, 2014, 08:22:50 PM
Thank you for this! Needs to be on the first post/website. If we want XC to be implemented in everyday life then we need to help people understand what it is and what it does in layman terms.

Sure. The website is being continuously updated as new tech arrives and we'll try to maintain all the content.

If you find out-of-date content then by all means, contact me.

There's a new OP coming with updated info and a new look.
