2961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Think Litecoin will see the same growth as Bitcoin? on: November 16, 2013, 05:37:15 AM
So I was checking out some other Alt-Coins, and was thinking that if anything was gonna be the next to take off.  I was thinking of buy a bunch of Litecoin and sitting on them since Bitcoin right now is nuts, I figured this would be a good alternative.  Any thoughts?

At one point I was in your position checking out altcoins and discovered Goldcoin. I believe it's the next coin getting ready to rocket!

Judging by your previous posts pushing gold coin, you are directly involved in it, which makes your predictions biased

True. But the fact that my view is biased does not make it invalid. I have spent over 30 years in the computer industry and have found something very special. Most people that check it out seem to stick around. Best of luck to each and every reader! And cheers!

2963  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is inflationary to the world economy on: November 16, 2013, 04:48:32 AM
This is one reason why so many people seem to hate alt-coins.

If one thinks of Bitcoin as a money bubble, and there are loads of these bubbles all located in a finite space (like a kitchen sink), if one bubble gets bigger, the others have less room. Shaking up the water may increase the number of bubbles, but the amount of real value represented -- the air resource -- does not increase, so each bubble controls a smaller amount. (A glass bottle with a closed lid is probably a more accurate analogy).

Did someone say bubble?
2964  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks and Goverments will some day start buying BTC? on: November 16, 2013, 04:38:11 AM
When do you think that goverments and banks start buying BTC?

Do you think that this some day happen?

Yes. And the banks are already looking into the altcoin sector. We have been approached as have others.
2965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Forbes Love Bitcoins? on: November 16, 2013, 04:36:23 AM
I've seen the most consistent, intelligible, non-negative press on bitcoins from Forbes.com.  Why is that?

They realize that digital currencies are the future. I suspect we'll see some altcoin articles in the coming months!

How do you support that alt coins is going to surge?

He owns a lot and therefore wants it to happen.  Nothing more.

Ok. You're right. All praise the mighty Bitcoin the only cryptocurrency in the land for ever and ever!! LOL  Tongue

How do you support that alt coins is going to surge? Gut instinct or a basis on fact?
Are you simply basing this on the techs using virtcurr?

Did you factor in the average user who will become the bulk of the users over time? I highly doubt so.

The only thing that has to be factored in is an understanding of human history. Not only is competition inevitable, it's here and now.  Cheesy
2969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt Coin with fastest cpu mining? (not in it to make money) on: November 16, 2013, 04:13:14 AM
Seeing as I don't have a powerful graphics card at the moment, bitcoin mining is currently out of the question. I have been exploring other coins that seem to be easier to mine like pheonixcoin, infinitecoin, and primecoin, but which one do you think is fastest to mine with a cpu.

Again, I realize im not going to make any money with this, im just trying to get to know wallets, trading, mining, etc... before I invest a ton of money in a graphics card for bitcoin mining.

Ps. From what I can tell, my cpu hash rate is 3 KH/S. (Is it even possible to mine any infinitecoins or pheonixcoins or primecoins at that speed?

If you're approaching this as a learning experience and not a profit experience it doesn't really matter which coin you mine. Based on my 30 years in the computer industry and all the data currently available to me, I believe once you do get "up to speed" you should find a good altcoin and build your investment and understanding around it..... and leave the bitcoin bubble alone.
2970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: redlisting and ransoms on: November 16, 2013, 04:05:24 AM
You fellow newbies following the heated discussion in the other forums where the old timers are getting all heated about even the remote possibility of
adding support for redlisting suspected addresses used for criminal activity?

Coming in late to BTC just a few weeks ago, I'm more pragmatic about that kind of stuff, working with government to establish clear rules etc. I just want to make money and don't fear the prospect of paying taxes. BTC may make it easier to demand/pay randoms of all kinds in the future, not just crypolocker, so I would welcome some blockchain analysis/marking/whatever that might prevent me or my loved ones from being a victim in later years. I do understand the objections about how hard it is to do without tainting everybody (the "most US bills have cocaine on them" reference and so forth)

Am I correct guessing newcomers are less fired up in general than the old timers about anonymity and privacy, and more interested in just making a buck... or is it just me?

The bulk of the people that made money in Bitcoin bought in before 2011 when you get bitcoins for loose change. Now that Bitcoin is in a bubble and with redlists right around the corner, the altcoins are going to surge (and in a big way).

Markets always adjust, competition always arrives, it's the nature of the economics. Bitcoin is just making it a little easier by shooting itself in the foot. But it will happen either way.
2971  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase app removed from Apple store?!....what should i do? on: November 16, 2013, 03:25:14 AM

2972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we discuss an alternative entity to the bitcoin foundation? on: November 16, 2013, 02:10:30 AM
Bitcoin has already started the slide down the slippery slope.

Fortunately, there are many altcoins still standing strong by Satoshi's ideal of an independent and free currency. The next step in the evolution is the emergence of the altcoin.
2973  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to the forum but been reading up on Bitcoin on: November 15, 2013, 10:35:22 PM
Ideally I would like to purchase 0.5 BTC but don't know where to do this.

I use coinbase.com and btcquick.com.  Cheesy  Grin  Cheesy
2974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government Intervention on: November 15, 2013, 09:24:33 PM
What would happen to bitcoin if the US government decided to treat it like the online gambling industry?

1. They precluded banks from making transfers to gambling sites creditcards, bank wire , ach then..
2. The confiscated the domains of popular gambling sites - even though online gambling is legal in numerous countries around the world.
3. Lodged criminal/legal charges against the princicpals of some of the largest sites.

They could potential do the same to bitcoin: restrict the banks and exchanges etc.

Then what?

This won't happen. Just like cash can be used for person to person private transactions, so can bitcoin.

External regulation will always occur on the merchant side of the equation. The issue is the internal redlists being now proposed by the foundation. If these measures are implemented and a fork agreed upon, it will mean Bitcoin is worth less than cash for private transactions since a coin's value would become conditional.

There is an altcoin revolution on the horizon and these internal controls will fuel the "changing of the guard".

The Goldcoin community is aware of these dire revelations and will take all necessary steps to ensure that our currency remains true to the free and independent ideals established by Satoshi. A coin is a coin and if you have one it will always be "as good as gold".
2976  Economy / Economics / Re: Why iam seeing a bright future in the value of BTC on: November 15, 2013, 04:59:06 PM
Intuitively, I feel like Bitcoin is overbought at this point and time.

I'm not saying Bitcoin can't return and maintain these levels in the future but right now this price is not sustainable. Moving forward there is going to be a division within the Bitcoin community as the redlists or blacklists are introduced as this is in opposition to the core of Satoshi's ideal. This division will see some people remaining loyal to a Bitcoin that sells out to establishment pressure while others embrace altcoins that stay true to the principles of individual freedom, decentralization, and deregulation.

If the objective is to further the dream of Satoshi and to grow wealth, the path now is clearly that of the altcoin.

I happen to like your creations Cheesy Your creations could revolutionize money transfer systems and think about how much this system could really take off in South America. I can hear them chanting your name.

2978  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [LEAKED] Private Bitcoin Foundation Discussions On Blacklisting, more (ZIP dump) on: November 15, 2013, 02:25:53 PM
In my view, this "redlist" process has already gained enough steam that it will be implemented in one form or another.

If Satoshi were still in this 3d reality I'm sure he would be opposed to this ridiculous perverting of his ideal and supportive of altcoins that are true to the principles of freedom and independence.

Bitcoin is now the bloated IBM of the 1970's and destined to become a secondary player to these emerging altcoins stars.
2979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 15, 2013, 02:20:45 PM
Anything less is unacceptable. Remember that the value of your Bitcoins depends on you being able to spend them.

2980  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to turn 2BTC into 4BTC on: November 15, 2013, 02:10:14 PM
Hey guys. I currently have a little over 2btc at my disposal. I was wondering what the safest and best way to flip that into 4btc, and the 4btc into 8btc, etc.

In my view, the safest bet at this point would be do the following:

1. Go to Cryptsy.com
2. Buy 2BTC worth of GLD
3. Join the community
4. Use your talents to help out
5. Watch your investment grow
6. Convert to BTC as needed.

Best of luck regardless of what you decide. And "may all your Bitcoin dreams turn to Gold!"
