Well for me the best religion is christian catholic. It is the best religion for me just simple because I believe to what their bible says and it is not just something that is made by some people. I think the bible really are words of God and well some religions based their bible to the christian catholic religion.

Over the years, after debating with theists on this and other forums and in person, I came to the conclusion that the religious people are not all the same.
Depending on their intelligence, they fall into one of the following categories:
50-85 IQ - severely retarded to slightly retarded people unable to distinguish what is real and what is not
Generally, these people do not understand the content of religious texts but they tend to remember
and cling on some passages that had been presented and explained to them by others.
This group is a breeding ground for extremists and terrorists.
86-110 IQ - below average to average intelligence, most likely college or university educated folks, these people understand
that most of the religious texts cannot be interpreted literally as these are historical texts and
should be interpreted in the context in which they were written. They tend to compartmentalize
their religious beliefs and their understanding of science and the world around them.
These people would most likely never hurt others in the name of the religion, but generally applaud and
cheer when others kill in the name of their religion. There are some atheists in this group but not too many.
111-135 IQ - above average intelligence. Highly educated people, some holding advanced degrees, they are masters of compartmentalization.
Less religious than the other groups, but still believe in God the creator. Pascal wagers are in this group.
This is a breeding ground for atheists as they analyze the religious texts, find inconsistencies, argue
with other religious people (often with limited success as the mental gaps are just too great).
You might find some hard core religious nuts in this group, but very few since it is very hard for
these people to reconcile religion with the reality around them. But they try despite the odds.
136+ IQ- these people are mostly atheists, most of them don't even think about God as it is not something even worth
thinking about. The question of religion is as clear as 2+2 or A8+F. They know there is no God, that God concept
was invented by people to help them understand the complex world. They see organized religions as political
and/or business entities.
So which group do you belong to?
The easiest way for a person with an average intelligence to become an atheist is to actually read the Bible, Quran and Talmud.
I can guarantee you, some of you will become atheists after reading the Bible alone, you won't have to read Quran. But I highly recommend you read all three.
Mostly false, because first, I had IQ tests when I was a child to let me pass a class or not, and guess what, I had 136+. Then, I was not raised all my life in religion. No one ever told me about that, ever ! I made all my conclusions alone. If you read the Bible, even beside the existance of God or not, all the commandements and such are so obvious that everyone should follow them naturally. I use a quote from Biomech to shed some light on the subject. I thought it helpful for clarification. (I used some of my own highlights in his text though, so to see the original go to his post please.) ...your conception of atheism is basically what theists say about us [atheists], not the actuality in most cases. But I need to clarify that a bit, because there is a subset of atheists who state it as a positive belief. Religious types have dubbed this "strong" atheism, vs what it seems most of us hold to, which they dub "weak" atheism.
In my arrogant opinion, "weak" atheism is by far the stronger position. Not because it's a positive belief, but because it is not. Our stance is not that we believe there is no god(s), but that we do not believe that there is based on the available evidence. "strong" atheism, to me, is just as much a religious stance as Christianity or Islam would be.
Weak atheism does not deny the possibility of deities, it just doesn't accept ordinary proofs for extraordinary claims.
That's all pretty general. Personally, I've no problem with the idea of a god or gods, but I see no convincing evidence. Religion, on the other hand, I take a strong and oppositional stand to. It makes broad, unprovable claims, and demands that those who adhere to it AND THOSE WHO DON'T accept it. Even, often especially, when those claims are contradicted by fact. And they're willing to kill over it.
I'll kill in defense of my person, my family, possibly even my nation were it actually invaded. I'll never even consider killing because a man believes something differently than I would. Depending on what that belief is, I might think him a fool. I might even say it, especially if he's not a fool generally. I'll talk about it, but I won't kill for it.
I can also state as fact that ALL current theistic religions are false. I base this on their own claims. Not all of them, some of their claims are either good morals or at least a bit of wisdom that is applicable regardless of derivation. But particularly, these two. That there is a god who wishes to be worshipped, and that he/she/it is the god of their religion.
Were these two things true, and based on their further claim that their sky daddy is all powerful, then there would be NO POSSIBILITY of plural, contradicting religions.
This is silly. You can't breathe in a vacuum. When you say that you simply lack having belief at all, you are saying that you live in a vacuum. If you lived out in the mountain woods, completely away from other people so that you never heard of God, you would still get the feeling of God from the things you saw in nature. But you don't live this way. You live among other people, the majority of whom are theists to some extent at least. And the idea of God has been pushed into your head at least a little. You are forced to make a choice in faith by this. Either you believe God exists, or you believe He doesn't. You might like the idea of living in a vacuum. You might wish that you could have lived your life in a vacuum. You might like the vacuum idea so much that you are trying with all your might to break free from the knowledge that you have so that you can live in the vacuum you wish for yourself. But you can't. It's too late. The knowledge of the idea of God is already in you, and outside of a complete lobotomy, you can't remove it. You have only one of 2 choices in this area. Either you believe that God exists, or you believe that God doesn't exist. The idea of a third choice, to not even have enough knowledge so that you don't believe one way or the other, is not available to you. And the more you talk about it, the less you lose any vacuum that might be left, and the more you are set in your belief one way or the other. |

Yes but, look at Brexit. The vote split was 17410742 to 16141241. This means that a whopping 16 million+ people will have to obey the wishes of a slightly larger majority, less than 17.5 million. Who is right? So, do you trust the handful in the U.S. government to be able to make right decisions for 330 million? Create wars for us all over the world just so that the handful have an excuse to kill off our young men and women in the military, all the while making $billions for themselves while the rest of us live in near poverty. With communications and transportation the way they are, don't need democracy OR the thing that we have presently. Get rid of government except to maintain order in the courts. Let the people be free except when they harm other people, and let the jury decide who is the guilty party based on the facts. There are three places for the U.S. government in America: 1. To oversee the court activities in court cases. This doesn't include to find defendants guilty or innocent. It only includes overseeing that the court acts logically and civilly in its operation. 2. To oversee corporations and other artificial entities so that they don't harm the people. 3. To protect the nation from attack. That's it. Democracy and other things should not even play into the picture. Let the States and local governments handle what goes on locally. |
